It looks like the Tegra 2 isn't dead, yet.
ACER is selling the ICONIA TAB A200 which has a Tegra 2 T20 in it and has promised ICS will be available for it in February. That means it will have Tegra 2 drivers which may be hackable for the Tegra 2 AP20H SOC in cell phones including the G2X.
http://www.netbooknews.com/43549/acer-iconia-tab-a200-with-official-ice-cream-sandwich-hands-on/
Is it the same Tegra 2 chip inside our G2x? I remember a dev saying that there's different ones, like how the one in the Tab 10.1 is harmony based, but ours isn't.
The Motorola Atrix 4G which has the same Tegra as ours, has a Public Beta Released CM9.
The Iconia A200 uses the Harmony.

Where's the CM9 Public Beta for the Motorola Atrix 4G? I looked on the Cyanogen website and couldn't find it. If Cyanogen has a Public Beta for that phone, wouldn't they also be able to continue development for the other Tegra 2 phones? Also, Motorola isn't updating that phone to ICS: https://forums.motorola.com/pages/00add97d6c

That's interesting. I see on github.com https://forums.motorola.com/pages/00add97d6c that the alpha 5 was 23 hours ago (now 1 day ago). Has it progressed to beta? As well, if they've solved the audio problem why hasn't Cyanogen?
Do we really have to look to a tablet for our drivers? Is the G2x the only tegra 2 phone out right now?

The other two "big" phones with the same version of Tegra 2 are the Atrix 4G and the Droid X2. We have the model number: Tegra 250 AP20H which I believe is Harmony.
I think its just a matter of time. Someone will end up tweaking those drivers and start making it work. Got this phone 2 months ago i hope we get some support. I cant afford to buy a sgs2 because im in contract.

I think a lot of people lost hope for this device cause of tmobiles eol announcement. As long as there are developers with this phone, I think we will be ok.

Doubt it. I think the Tegra in this Iconia is the same as the one in the tab 10.1, which isn't the same as the G2x. So nothing can be done to my understanding.

Hi,
HTC have released some awesome phones like the One X and my god it is fantastic, but the question is, shall I sell my Galaxy Nexus for the HTC?
The good points from the nexus are that I would be that I would be supporting to the next Android with no worry.
But the HTC would be more than capable for running the next Android version as its hardware is far better. Also I like the 1.5GHz Quad Core processor with nvidia tegra. But the updates that I would get will be later than the Nexus and also HTC are a pain to root with the boot loader and EXT partitions
What should I do?
Thanks Guys
Weeo

You should get the HTC. The specs whoop the Nexus's ass!

The question isn't whether it's capable, but when the manufacturer releases the update. Currently, none of them have yet released a Gingerbread -> ICS update, and it's already been 5 months.

for me its all about the hardware... since software can always be modified... the one x holds more potential hardware wise...
Do ittt!!!
I would wait for people to test it first...I am a bit worried with the battery stamina from One X

With the Nexus, you do not have to wait to constructor update, you will always get the last Android's version.
But HTC phones are more powerfull and XDA community will let you have the new Android OS
Cheers people. Ill get the HTC

After the radio and GPS problems with this phone (and apparently with the Fascinate) I will probably not buy a Samsung again. Either moto or HTC, and especially moto if they have something like the razr maxx (samoled and a massive battery) by the time I upgrade in 1.5 years.

Afaik Intel will be behind on the mobile processors for a while because they are just entering... But it will be interesting to see how x86 fares against arm. Who knows maybe they will be better come upgrade time.

either the snap dual core or the quad core.. either way it will be gobs better than the Charge.
The frustrations this phone and the Fascinate have caused, I look forward to using a phone from another manufacturer.
Supposedly HTC is coming out with a Note competitor this summer.
I'm actually quite happy how my phone has performed. I haven't had any issues besides a couple of force quits from some apps. They just had bugs in them though. I've had my phone for 7 months and I've been quite happy. Got it right around the Gingy update. I guess I would upgrade if a decent phone came out that had all of the bells and whistles.
The ReZound has almost everything but it's missing a few odds and ends. Still an awesome phone. I find myself playing with my wife's ReZound from time to time. The iPhone 5 almost sounds promising, but I want to see what is going to compete with it once it comes out. I guarantee something awesome is going to blow the iPhone out of the water. Waiting...

Word is that Samsung's quad core exynos is incompatible with US LTE frequencies because they don't make it in that specification or something, which is why the US version will have the s4 like the one x on at&t.

Gay. Why is it the states get the ****ty end of the stick when it comes to android phones? Phones have to be modified to come to the states and then the same phone that released in europe, korea, and china differs from what we get here.

Maybe because they aren't US based companies? Motorola is, and I am pretty sure the US moto phones are released before their international equivalents. Also, US carriers run on different frequencies from everyone else.
I am pretty excited for it. I am waiting to use it hands on before I make the dive. My plan just went up a few days ago so I am waiting to test this before upgrading if it comes to Verizon.

That would be nice. I would like it to compete with the kindle fire for price, it would bring android much closer to being the every day device that some people think that the ipad or iphone is. I would love ice cream.
I'm just looking for a wifi version. I don't need another tie to a carrier.
I think there will be a WiFi and a carrier version. Now that Motorola deal is approved the rumors will soon become true.
Here is some leak pictures...

well, it will most likely come with a Tegra 3 cpu and jelly bean. However, I was hoping for an exynos processor though, but since they are going to release several tablets, at least one of them should have it. (optimist)

I highly doubt that Samsung will give away Exynos chips for devices with this price tag. When they'll release a tab with the latest SOC it will cost no less than 600-700, it makes more sense this way IMHO.

Right? I belive I never used mine. My guess was someone would use it in an app for a 3d mapping, sort of like in 3DS, but no. It's there so people would feel weird taking pictures with microscopic lens in a corner of a book.

Could someone maybe confirm this to be true or tell me why I'm dumb.
