id like it to be on verizon w/lte, 7 inch HD screen option, and tegra3.
id settle for the samsung galaxy tab 7.7 but as a google tablet.

I Heard It Will Be Running On MeeGo

That would be nice. I would like it to compete with the kindle fire for price, it would bring android much closer to being the every day device that some people think that the ipad or iphone is. I would love ice cream.

I'm just looking for a wifi version. I don't need another tie to a carrier.

I think there will be a WiFi and a carrier version. Now that Motorola deal is approved the rumors will soon become true.

Here is some leak pictures...

I do hope they bring out a 10 inch as well...

well, it will most likely come with a Tegra 3 cpu and jelly bean. However, I was hoping for an exynos processor though, but since they are going to release several tablets, at least one of them should have it. (optimist)

I highly doubt that Samsung will give away Exynos chips for devices with this price tag. When they'll release a tab with the latest SOC it will cost no less than 600-700, it makes more sense this way IMHO.

Right? I belive I never used mine. My guess was someone would use it in an app for a 3d mapping, sort of like in 3DS, but no. It's there so people would feel weird taking pictures with microscopic lens in a corner of a book.

After the radio and GPS problems with this phone (and apparently with the Fascinate) I will probably not buy a Samsung again. Either moto or HTC, and especially moto if they have something like the razr maxx (samoled and a massive battery) by the time I upgrade in 1.5 years.

The frustrations this phone and the Fascinate have caused, I look forward to using a phone from another manufacturer.
Supposedly HTC is coming out with a Note competitor this summer.
I'm actually quite happy how my phone has performed. I haven't had any issues besides a couple of force quits from some apps. They just had bugs in them though. I've had my phone for 7 months and I've been quite happy. Got it right around the Gingy update. I guess I would upgrade if a decent phone came out that had all of the bells and whistles.
The ReZound has almost everything but it's missing a few odds and ends. Still an awesome phone. I find myself playing with my wife's ReZound from time to time. The iPhone 5 almost sounds promising, but I want to see what is going to compete with it once it comes out. I guarantee something awesome is going to blow the iPhone out of the water. Waiting...

Word is that Samsung's quad core exynos is incompatible with US LTE frequencies because they don't make it in that specification or something, which is why the US version will have the s4 like the one x on at&t.

Gay. Why is it the states get the ****ty end of the stick when it comes to android phones? Phones have to be modified to come to the states and then the same phone that released in europe, korea, and china differs from what we get here.

Maybe because they aren't US based companies? Motorola is, and I am pretty sure the US moto phones are released before their international equivalents. Also, US carriers run on different frequencies from everyone else.
I am pretty excited for it. I am waiting to use it hands on before I make the dive. My plan just went up a few days ago so I am waiting to test this before upgrading if it comes to Verizon.

Android tablet?

Hi,
I want to buy android based tablet. I want to know which the best option in different android tablets is. I am using internet on my recent phone and I can’t get any speed. So I want an android tablet and like to use its different applications. Any suggestions?
Thanks
If you want a 10 inch tablet, get the Touchpad
If you want a 7 inch tablet, get the Nexus 7
Also, why is this here?

At first, I took the thread to mean "what tablet would be a good compliment to the One X". But the OP isn't really clear, and based on the fact its his first post here, he may have posted to the wrong place.
+1 to the Nexus 7. Great price point, has reviewed really well, and its selling really well, which means solid support from software developers, accessory manufacturers, etc. is assured. If I were going to buy a tablet right now, it would probably be the Nexus 7.
I do love my HTC Flyer tablet. Beautiful build quality, as you would expect from HTC. But it was overpriced at release at $499. Its also over a year old now, so its not really a current contender specs-wise. HTC has been laying low as far as the tablet market, since the Flyer and Jetstream didn't sell well. But a new HTC tablet is rumored.
What I did learn from the Flyer, is that I really like the 7" form factor. Larger 10" form factors are nice for some things, but 7" is a really great compromise of functionality and portability. Easy and comfortable to hold with one hand for long periods of time, and doesn't take up much room in a carry-on bag while traveling by air. I can even shove it in the pocket of most of my pants, as I move from room to room in my house.

I hate to bash your tablet but the Xoom has the absolute worst screen I have ever seen on a tablet, which is the single most important part of a tablet. Not to mention it is big, bulky, and heavy. And it's old with outdated hardware.
Unfortunately, there aren't many decent Android tablets out there so as I said earlier the Nexus 7 is my recommendation. It's amazing, and the 7" form factor is the perfect size for portability. If you must go with a 10", then one of the ASUS Transformers is the best bet. The Prime, Infinity, or even the cheaper Tegra 3 one (I forget the name).

Where to next?

I don't have an upgrade yet, but as the date draws nearer (December) I really start looking at what is coming out between now and then, and I must say I'm not feeling particularly confident about any given upgrade path.
If it's true the next Nexus will be Nexus Optimus based off the Optimus G I'd probably consider the Optimus G since having identical hardware to the galaxy S worked many wonders for the captivate.
Outside of that, the Xperia Tl looks like a pretty great device if it gets enough support to see decent long-lived dev support.
So, what upcoming phone do you think will have the best dev support? I would really like to keep getting updates long after the manufacturer officially drops support.. and Even if it's only 400$, I probably will skip the nexus since 16 gigs isn't enough without expandable memory storage..
Same. I also have an upgrade due this December and the new phones on at&t aren't interesting. I would've gone to the one x but their at&t version has ran into a wall because of a recent update that locked the boot loaders down, hard. (At&t officially does not support unlocked boot loaders for it). So, the Cappy is still moving forward

I'm cautiously optimistic about both the Xperia TL and the Optimus G.
I know that back mfr support can ruin otherwise great phones.. both in terms of upgrades and devs ability to make custom roms.. So I'll be looking anxiously at the LG Optimus. If the One x+ keeps the 64 gb of storage or even just 32gb of storage I would seriously consider it too assuming the dev support was adequate.

I am really worried the Note 2 will be far to big for my taste. The 4.7" phones already seem *huge* to have to stick in my pocket. Aside from that I'd be worried about the quad core exynos processsors which I hear make it hard to cook up custom Roms.

LG Optimus G looks very promising. I love its hardware design (on the same level with HTC one x or better, IMO), that quadcore Qualcomm s4 processor, and the screen is fantastic. I wish At&t included the 13 mp camera. But then again all cellphone cameras will never be perfect.

I want a decent camera but, honestly my absolute biggest concern is long term dev support. I wish there was an environment more "open" to dev with carriers. I understand they don't want to have to deal with people bricking their phones.. At the same time "voided warranty" scares off most people I talk to about custom roms in the first place.. So I don't think they are really gaining anything by locking down phones.. People either care about the warranty or they don't.

Well I'm guessing it's because carriers want you to buy a new phone for every upgrade date to make $$$ so they lock boot loaders (of course, that assumption could be false). For long term development support I will buy an international Samsung galaxy s_ device or a nexus.

Unfortunately, I'm kinda tired of the SAMOLED displays.
As far as why they do it, forcing customers to buy new phones is a pretty horrible reason TBH.
There are far too many people who are angry at manufacturers for failing to update fast enough. When you remove their ability to install their own update, you're just giving them a reason to find another product.

I left my Cappy last October after the USB port died and I got tired of switching out batteries to use it for the SGS II. My SGS II just had an unfortunate accident involving water, so I pulled out my trusty Cappy which I could not part with since it was my 1st Android device. Thank god for all of the awesome development that has and continues to unfold for this device. I am on Jelly Bean 4.1.2 and its like I never left. I do not know how much longer I am going to use it (Nexus 4 looks tempting), but it continues to be an amazing phone that I will continue to go back to whenever other phones fail on me.
Kind of off topic but I really wanted to say how much of an awesome phone this is. Props to all of you who kept it for a full two years! :good:

Nexus 4 price is hard to resist, lack of storage and lte is unfortunate but can't beat 350 for a top of the line device. And it's a nexus.
I'd consider the nexus 4 if I didn't have the nexus 7 already
Might as well go with the school of fish since the galaxy s 3 is $99 now at select stores. Cant beat that price with all the features it has. But you gotta admit the HTC one x is a nice looking phone, and dare I say, and to which nobody has mentioned yet, the Lumia 920 (in red) *gasp*

One thing im wondering as I look at the nexus 4 is that there are 3 buttons back, home and multi task (which is long press home for us) one of the things i love is the dedicated options or settings key, anyone have any experience moving to no options button? One (of many) things that bother me when im using an iPhone is the stupid steps you have to take to change app settings.
I'm reconsidering this phone for that reason,(although im sure XDA can give me options to remedy this issue) am i the only one who thinks a dedicated multitasking button is a waste and long press home is a fine alternative to open up another shortcut option?

Getting a Nexus is your only safe bet for long term dev support and you don't have to deal with locked bootloader and losing your warranty by unlocking it (you have no choice with Sony and HTC, because you enter your IMEI to unlock it which void your warranty, unless you do some third party unlocking method). Also for the price of the Nexus 4 and being a Nexus device, I don't see why one would get the Optimus G with locked bootloader and probably poor support, if only for the 32gb storage which is not worth it compared to all the things the Nexus offer (ie, Google updates, easy to flash, best dev support and highesst quality rom, pentaband, elitist Nexus fanboys community).

Custom ROMs allow you to change all sorts of things about the navigation bar. You can have more buttons, different buttons, even shortcuts/widgets.
Also, I can say from experience that the three button setup is better than the four button setup.

Yeah apparently Samsung are focusing on software tweaks like eye scrolling (another gimmick for mugs)as oppose to hardware improvements. In another words more plastic and more profit for Samsung.

Yeah Enjoy the amoled screen, plastic build with tinny sound.
Buying amoled over LCD is like buying LCD tv rather then led tv.

next week we will know more... it will be revealed on march 14 on time square new york. Anyway, rumours about an octa-core processing unit and a cam with 13MP keep me scratching my fingernails on my table. Lets hope for the best!
When they will present s4 ?
octa-core is just gimmick....there are two processors in sgs4 both are quad core...the phone relies on first quad core with A7 architecture for light use like apps and multitasking...when u play games and use phone heavily it switches the load to A15 quad core processor....so this is also quad core device !!
Now that the GS4 has been unveiled, definitely worth the upgrade from my GS2 Skyrocket, but for anyone that has a GS3, aside from the screen/hardware upgrade and the few additional sensor functions, I don't really see a point in jumping on it (just my opinion) right away, at least not at first. I just know that I held out and didn't get the GS3 because I haven't felt limited by my Skyrocket, so I'm drooling and excited for this gadget pron beast to be turned out on the public. Now the big question comes down to price tag, is it gonna be worth it to be a "pioneer" with it or do I wait for my contract to be up and agree to be a slave again to the carrier?

need help choosing a tablet

so as the title says I need helping picking a tablet right now im looking at the note10.1 nexus 10 and the Asus tf700 resolution is not the most imporant to me im looking mainly.for speed and preformance. for gaming and such anyone have hands on with the tablets that can help? I also want no lag in the home screen I know some devices lag when going through pages on home
screen
I think you should go with nexus 10
It has a great resolution ( I think the best out there) and the samsung exynos 5 chip, though a dual core but a beast. Plus you'll also be one of the firsts to get the latest android!

exactly its a dual core go in reality isn't the galaxy faster with its quad Core? I don't care about resoultion I Care about Power and speed which ;g why I bought the galaxy note 2
Well,
more cores doesn't directly means that it has to be faster 100%. Apps need to be coded properly so they are scaling good with more cores, and I think all you will get is just more points in some Benchmarks, thats all.

Actually its dual core is better than a quad-core cause it has a different architecture, for overall smoothness I will suggest you the nexus 10 but for gaming I wouldnt go for this cause the resolution will kill all the performance in games(cause the gpu is not good enough) and expect poor support for tablet on android.
If you really care about gaming I suggest you an iPad 4 as it has great and more optimised games plus it also has the best gpu on any portable devices such tablets and smartphones.

FWIW, the versatility of the TF700 w/ the keyboard dock is very unique. It has replaced my laptop for sure. But, out-of-the-box performance was lacking. However, there are some excellent devs on here for it, which have negated any lag/performance issues.
That said, I was going to wait for the Nexus 10. The TF700 was a gift. I wouldn't trade

The gpu is good on the n10 but just not for that easy resolution, I'd suggest you to wait for a tegra 4 device....

I wish a Store had them all for me to try them all
Nexus 7.. best size for portability and viewing. awesome support for operating systems - google android, google chromium os, ubuntu BY canonical. I wish that I had figured out that the Nexus 7 was going to have this sort of support before getting my archos 80g9
Nexus 10 is really nice
I suggest it ;D
