Honestly.
If you cannot root your phone your self. You shouldn't have a rooted phone.
you need to learn the basics in case something goes south on your device.
and 4-6 is a laughable joke. Thanks for the 30 mins i spent doing something you are to lazy to do, and cannot even get a six pack out of it.
He is right.
What part of the tutorial don't you understand?

Take a look in my signature. I have a "newcomers" thread. IT has a link to TrueBlue_Drew's ADB guide. Take a peak in there. It has a really simple walk though on how to get it up and running.
Everyone has to start somewhere. All of us was clueless when it came to ADB at one point.

Support for the tb? I'm a new tb owner coming from the incredible. I'd rather root it that way than adb. Plus i have a mac. Adb is too labor intensive for me. Last time I tried rooting with adb was with my Eris and that was a headache.

What he said.
YouTube it bro. There's a guy that goes step by step. Its hella intimidating but if you can follow directions then you'll be fine.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
do what that guy says. youtube it. i have a mac too and theres a guide for mac owners which was extremely easy
try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1027836
Well golly gee! That looks way easier than the method I had to use for my Eris a couple years ago. I think that I'm no longer discouraged... Thanks fellas...

I had hesitated as well but the manual method turned out to be easier than I was expecting. Just recheck ever command line carefully or cut and paste.

I was nervous about ADB on a Mac too but I followed step by step and have successfully rooted 2 bolts.

It's not going to happen. The rooting and S-OFF method is too complex and REQUIRES user intervention. No software is going to do that.

If you afraid of using adb you have no business rooting your phone and your probably only of the many reasons phones are getting locked down.

That's just ignorant and/or elitist. So someone not already familiar or comfortable with setting up/using ADB shouldn't be able to benefit from rooting? My father doesn't know anything about how Linux or Android work, should I have told him to just deal with the bloatware, etc.? Don't be such an ass.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
I dont think he meant that to be mean but its true if you don't have the slightest understanding of what your doing to your phone when you root it you are setting yourself up to mess something up. I'm way new to this and I spent hours and hours over two weeks reading everything I could find so I knew what was going on. And when I went through the process I was comfortable and when I couldn't get the custom firmware to flash I had the knowledge to figure out my silly mistake without freaking out or messing up my phone. But bottom line if you aren't willing to educate yourself enough to be comfortable with the things you said then no you shouldn't be rooting your phone.

No. It's not elitist or ignorant. You must have a license before you drive. Same idea.

In short, folks who root yet don't understand rudimentary things like adb are the same ones who are 100% reliant on others to fix their device when they break it.
Or, they perpetrate a fraud and dump it on Verizon.

Hey guys,
Just picked up the HTC Holiday prototype that was for sale in the Marketplace, any suggestions or what you guys would like me to do once I have the phone in my possession? I wasn't really sure if this was the right place to post this, figured General would be a good place.
Thanks!

It's being worked on phones we're shipped to the dev that is working on it. Sooo patience Grasshopper! lol I know it is alot of steps in the downgrade then root process but, think about this when you accomplish it you will feel a little more comfortable, which will lead to bigger and better.

I couldn't agree more. Yeah, it's a bit of a pain to do, but there are good instructions and a lot of people monitoring the discussions about it closely. Not only will you feel a lot more comfortable with this sort of thing by the time you're done, but if things go wahoonie shaped, there are a lot of people reading those threads who can help.

Just like the title says I am willing to pay someone to unlock, root, s-off and flash a rom to my phone. I am a noob who is not computer literate and I am located in NW. I'll buy you several beers and 420 or cold hard cash. I have read the guides and I think if I had someone on the phone or next to me I would try it, but in all honesty I get frustrated easily.

In Baltimore? Also I'm really tempted to try it myself tonight if anyone might have the time to walk me through it. I'm still a little confused as what method to use. I have 1.27.00 bootloader. Am I supposed to unlock the bootloader with HTCDEV it use the other method?
