No. Never. Not for a second.
Sent from HTC G2

Um...no. iOS vs Android, I'll take android first any day. That said, you are on a android forum too. Lol

I think he's just asking if it's possible, not opinions.

IDK but iOS is really integrated with his hardware, the Iphone are not so status of the art tech phone, there are better one, but it run like butter, Android is not so integrated due the fact you can install it on multiple phone, with different features
but for sure I'll never get one

Very simple, it's clouse source
But, ios can run on htc g2 . lol . I thinks it's ilauncher and lock screen replace

If any other phone were to run iOS it would be the HD2... but anywho i doubt you would see an iOS port. Apple would be on it like angry birds to pigs. Always trying to defeat them but there just seems to be more out there

Even better, you should install android on an iPhone. To me that proves which is superior. Open source software will always be morally superior, at the very least

as far as i believe, ios is closed source when android is open sourced linux based which makes android to be ported but ios can't...

I think you should get an iPhone, but that's just a suggestion.
I can't believe I'm recommending this thread to anyone, but here goes...
The following thread is from a guy that wanted to get his Android phone looking and acting as much like an iPhone as possible. He calls it "an authentic taste", but it is not made by Apple - it's just skin. It's still Android underneath and that's not gonna change.
Anyway, have a look at the suggestions (throughout the thread - not just the 1st post) and see if it helps you.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389470
Better yet, get MIUI. It has a very similar look and feel to iOS, but it has a lot more options and functionality. It's also a doddle to completely retheme with just a couple of clicks, so you can get a totally fresh interface as often as you like.
http://miuiandroid.com/

If only, some androids have great hardware but the software side is sad.

if you want ios get an iphone.
if you want android get an android phone.
if you like both install miui on your android device.
There is no way of installing ios on anything other than a device that was meant to run it in the first place.

LOL very interesting statement, but it's becoming reality
there's an insanely huge horde of people following MIUI for no good reason IMO (reminds you of Apple? anyone )

I apologize, I'm a phone gamer and android is none too fulfilling in that sense. That paired with ill-optimized software and I don't see the benefit. WP7 is lesser on gaming as well, but I'm a bit of an achievement whore.

Jesus, is this forum really only filled with uneducated, over-opinionated, and unhelpful people?
To answer the OP's question; yes and no. It won't be able to run natively, due to the fact that it's closed source. Though, that's never stopped people before. One could write an ARM-based iDevice emulator and it would theoretically boot.
The trials and tribulations of the emulator would be difficult, but here's what would have to be implemented (off the top of my head, of course):
1. CPU (shouldn't be extremely difficult because the host (phone) is ARM-based)
2. Sound
3. Memory (not the worst, especially because an iPhone only has 512 MB RAM)
4. Graphics/Display/Input (shrug)
5. Implement measures to counter device-checks when booting
6. Flash storage (easy)
7. Anything else that I can't think of atm.
So yes, it would be a huge undertaking, but theoretically, it could run in an emulated environment with bad-mild performance. Don't ever expect iOS-like butter, though. The overhead cost of Android is extremely large (my 1 gig RAM usually has 600 MB free to use) and the phones have near identical specs, which makes it difficult for perfect performance due to limited memory/cpu.
I hope this is better than "OMG HAHA I <3 ANDrOID SO MUCH! BOOo APPL AND TEH iPhonE SUX!!!"
EDIT: Also, it is technically possible to create an iOS compatibility layer (like wine), so you could just launch iOS apps. But that's something I know nothing about and would probably be very difficult. You would have to subvert the need for the kernel (it's open source, so who knows if that helps?) and then rewrite all of the frameworks that iOS uses to work on Android. It's a large undertaking, but it would be interesting, none-the-less.

The difference between an opinion and a fact is that an opinion varies on a person to person basis. If there had been an iOS port on android, I'd have kept my streak for the ability to play those games on such a screen alone. But obviously you felt the need to try and showcase your blind fanboyism. Good for you. The answer differentiates on a person to person basis.

No, actually it is not opinion. Are you kidding me? IOS is closed source. You wouldn't be able to build even the simple frameworks for it without the source code. What kind of fool calls answering a question like that blind fanboyism? I didn't say.."no apple sucks". I said it wasn't possible. Please show me where the "blind fanboyism" comes in. I could see the iPhone getting faster on Android once more devs look at it and piece it together. It has to be possible to port iPhone to Android to bad I have no development skills or I would give it a go.

If you believe something is in the wrong section, is it not easier to just ignore the post? Or must you, inform people they're posting in the "wrong" section? What's the big deal. Read what's written, if it holds no interest for you, keep it movin. If you find it interesting, and you "believe" it's in the wrong section, keep it movin. What's hard about that? Ur the type to report **** is in the wrong sections as you come across stuff aren't you? People like you are Computer Commandos. Leave the Moddin 2 da MODS.
Thanks. Take Care.

Cydia: We don't need another Market when ours doesn't reject things.
Battery- Really? Have you EVER used a Nexus?
Memory- That is, until you fill it up
Music Player- No doubt, Android is getting better ones but the iPhone's is still top notch
Gaming- That's what happens when you're a year ahead of the competition, but yes, I feel it has better games (Even if I don't play any)
Batter Keyboard- This is subjective, the ONLY thing I feel it has Android beaten in is responsiveness (And this is due to the touchscreen, not the actual keyboard)
If not cydia rock millions of free apps once hacked u can't fill up the memory my wife a 16 gig and hsnt filled up half her memory with all the movies music and apps the keyboard is more responsive millions of themes everything an android can do so can iphone I wish there a way to flash roms on an iphone

I don't see why having the phone hacked or not gives more memory, it was 16gb before and after. Well, when someone has 1000's of songs, the 16gb fills up rather quickly, so just because she has over half left doesn't mean everyone does.
You tend to have more things when you are tending to a larger user base, so having millions of themes is nice, but you're only ever going to use one at a time.
I still don't see why cydia and rock are being brought into this, they're a market for things that were/will be rejected from the App store the Android Market does NOT suffer from this (Except in things like pornography or malicious/illegal items).
All I know is that this is good news for many and I hope development continues, I like the Iphone OS very much including android and winmo 7.
the day i get an iphone is the day it multitasks, has real keyboard, lets me watch porn when my girl is being stingy and selfish with her vagina, on top of it all... run an android os. sooo in the words of my good man :"iphone can suck iiiiiiiit"

If you want a phone that can play music, videos, and games, I'll grant than an iPhone is your best bet.
If you want a phone with a large high-res screen, hardware keyboard, expandable storage, TRUE multi-tasking, as well as an impressive bag of tricks (tethering, WiFiRouter, etc.) that can be had without voiding your warrantee, the iPhone would certainly not fit the bill.
Just saying that there are plenty of things an iPhone cannot do, even with jailbreaking. The day some mad dev manages to port iPhone OS to an HTC keyboard phone, I will gladly eat my words. Until then, enjoy your iPhone for what it is, a Portable Media Player. The rest of us will keep happily haxing away on our Mini Computers.

1. Android is an OS, not a device.
2. No it hasn't. Not possible.
1. I know it is an OS and not a device but it has been ported to run on Android devices in this case HTC Magic (Or atleast recreated)
2.Nothing is impossible, Yes they have a locked source but people created it people can recreate it

Then you probably should have said ported to the HTC Magic. Otherwise it just sounded silly. Just saying.
I personally do not think that is iOS, but a knock-off of the GUI running on top of probably some Linux variant or Android. I have personally seen some in China, and the GUI seems like a pretty good reproduction of the original. But is was nothing more than a reproduction of what iOS looks like.

That's great
- The background in the task pane doesn't seem quite right.
- That's running awfully snappy for a HTC Magic, especially since iOS doesn't have Qualcomm drivers (and closed-source, etc.)
- iOS won't let you delete the Phone app.

Don't people rather have fully functional android on the iphone?

If Android on iPhone can be done on sure the reverse can be too.
Not sure why you'd want to though cause a new development idea (called monodroid) is being worked on by Novell so apps can run on all smartphones. Or at least be MUCH easier to cross platform. I think they have already made this for the iPhone.

No, Android is open source, iOS obviously is not. Which means that, to port iOS to, let's say the HTC Magic, someone would have to rewrite it all from scratch.

not really, creating an emulation of an iphone to run iOS is totally possible and more likely to be done then recoding iOS, however, this looks fake, so i do agree that it hasn't been done.
But never underestimate determined developers, if they have been able to run windows 95, and/or ubuntu on android devices, or running Mac OS X on PCs running AMD, emulators to run older Mac OS on pc, emulators to run older games, emulators for private servers for games, I'm completely sure they can figure out how to get iOS running on an android devices without the source code of iOS itself, just give it time.
Ok...........
First of all, MUIU DOES NOT, I repeat DOES NOT work like this. Nobody in their right mind would write all these functions from scratch just so they could pretend its iOS. Why on god's earth would you write a weather app that functions, and looks exactly like Apples? Same goes for calculator and finance.
I honestly have no idea what to think. This has the exact same applications, functions as iOS. But the weird thing is that the wallpaper scrolls with each slide... This definatley is not MUIU, though.
This is way more than just a skinned launcher with a set of apps, but I'm not convinced it's an ACTUAL port of iOS (because that seems insane?).
It seems more fesable to me that this is a port of one of the Chinese clone iOS offerings. There have been a lot of iPhone clone phones on the market for a while, and some of the software has become quite sophisticated, it's more than possible that one of these UI's has been ported to the Magic (as it's a good bet that more than a few of these clone devices run on Android/Linux anyway).
Notice that he doesn't open the App store, or Safari, or the music player. Definitely NOT actually iOS, but certainly something I would be interested in seeing ported to other devices!

Im just curious how many of you out there would recommend an iPhone over an Android phone or an Android over an iPhone. Android FTW!
agreed with android ftw..
i do enjoy reponsiveness of ios and polished look. it just looks "nice"
but android ftmfw..
my friend had an iphone 4 and we jailbroke it and he was showing all the cool things you can do with jailbroken phones..
i was like wait.... what? my phone could do this before it was even rooted.
makes me sad that ios has sooo many features just "missing" that phones should have. or be able to do. i guess thats why its not open sources... =\
Actually I like iOS 'cause it's so stable and really really easy , thus leaving it for all ages to use. But it's really limited and therefore you jailbreak.
Android on the other hand is a very good OS too! It's very very versatile and you can custom it like you want. The only thing with Android is that it's kind of messy.
So to conclude iOS is an OS that you'll find attractive in first look and some months to come. Android is an OS that grows on you and you'll love it in the long-run.
Has anyone seen iOS5? Apple obviously stole almost every new feature from the jailbreak community then they stole notifications from Android. They need to come up with their own ideas.

I suspect you're going to get android as the majority answer here.
I'm over the ios>android or android> ios. They're different beasts with great qualities all around. I think ios is a simpler os in that really anyone can use it. At the same time, android's strength comes in its flexibility and customization. This doesn't suite everyone because really the majority of people just want an easy button. They can find that in android, they just don't have the patience to look.

I wouldn't neccesarily say that Apple stole multitasking from another OS/Device because its different. I mean, come on, its fake. I wouldn't say Apple stole the homescreen wallpapers either. Its an image that doesn't move and it isn't live. Basically, it makes it look a little better. No biggy.

I would really like Ios, it's not a bad OS. Multitask, runs pretty decent, huge app store, but there are a couple reasons why I'm not on ios.
Flash, I use flash on my phone all the time. Keeps me entertained.
Screen size, 3.5" is too small for me.

I use an iPhone for the reliability of it. And because currently it's the only phone I have with FFC. I also use an Android phone because of the enjoyment of it and apps. I feel my Inspire is smoother and nicer than my iPhone, but not as reliable. The screen isn't nearly as good as the iPhone 4's, either.
I also use a WP7 device and feel WP7 will overtake bother other formats eventually. It's that good.
But right now I don't leave the house without my iPhone. I feel secure in the knowledge I can get ahold of someone shuld the need arise. My Inspire almost got my family and I lost once due to a malfunctioning compass and non-functioning nav.

Thats a nice OS but a WP7 phone at work somehow got a virus and it wouldbt let the phone do anything and all it did when you turned it in was show a big smiley face with the bird finger. XD
So yeah unlike allot here i won't go FU on iOS.
Here is my subjective list of pro & contra for both systems.
Mind you i have used both.
iOSPLUS:
Stable
For it's money a well running piece of software built on that specific hardware
Fast
Simple to use
Design = top notch
Good service and reliable
Contra:
Hard to modify the feel of the OS
Forced to stay with all apple software (unless jailbroken) to downlaod upload music,etc..
Easy to jailbrake but still a challenge
AndroidPLUS:
Easy to use
Smooth and stable
Easy to modify and root
Customizable to a great extend
Perfectly combined with all Google products
Good service and help from google with personal calls explaining things
Contra:
Default FM can hang once in a while
Without root no way to do much or change much
Easier battery drain (personal opinion)
No updates for all the phone due to builds and limitations ( this is because there are so many companies producing Androids but all with different specs)
WP7Well really don't have much usage experience i did boot the emulator to check it out. Can't say it's ugly but doesn't look appealing either.
I believe that the OS probably is decent but it doesn't beg me to try it out
I think the WP7 is a good phone matching all other MS products. Like Xbox to phone connections and with Win8 it will be easy to look things up on your PC and share it with your phone if you godda go real quick. Win8 get's the same WP7 overlay.
All in all no real user experience so won't brake it down.
I believe it's a small correct list.
I can't say i hate either one of them but currently running android. Feels a Little slower then iOS but my biggest plus is all my Google Docs,Searches,G+,Mail,Pic are easy to acces with simple clicks from your phone.
Who the best is?
Think both are worth as much but if you like to mess around with your phone i would advise the android OS. Also you are more free to choose a phone to your liking then being forced a same look like the guy next to you in the train has.

IPhone trying to ban sales of Galaxy phones in Europe

IPhone is really trying to ban Galaxy phones now ??? in Europe ???

What is going on Galaxy can get around this Just by not including their comple rom...........
This would create a GREAT opportunity for MIUI or CM to assist in the battle against IPhones specious arguments

The major selling point of the s2 is the fact that it's the only hardware accelerated android phone. Throw cm7 or miui on there and its just another mediocre android device that's completely unimpressive. Unless either miui or cm plan on writing brand new drivers and Samsung intends to offer some sort of licensing deal then there's no real plus side to it.
Apple is pretty obnoxious. Their patents are ridiculously general

Not trying, actually doing. This time it is in the Netherlands where it is illegal for Samsung to sell the Galaxy S, Galaxy S 2.

No it's not. The injunction would take effect sometime in October, but by then Samsung will have their phones updated, so it's moot.
@z33dev33l: There is more to a phone than which chip is responsible for scrolling.

its still just another laggy android phone without samsungs drivers.
Yeah, no matter how many people tell you they don't see any problems, all Androids are so laggy you measure scrolling in seconds per frame instead of frames per second. Sure.
Get a new shtick please, this one is getting boring.

nonsensical post first of all, second of all android did seem smooth til I got something smoother. Now every time I try to use an android device, gs2 included, I notice these little catches that I wouldn't have even seen before but now make the phone feel like I paid 500 dollars for feel cheap.
Of course it's nonsensical. But it's what you're saying all the time! So the nonsense is not on my part, but on yours. You *are* constantly talking as if Android is so slow, and as if all that matters on a phone is which chip does the scrolling. But of course when you're saying it, you don't see the nonsense in it.
protip, as usual: don't feed the troll.

I was talking about your "seconds per frame" comment, none of what you said there made any sort of sense. Android is slow which is one of many faults in it, I like a phone that just works, nothing I have to crack flash roms to, nothing I have to download 40 apps to before it has basic functions, and certainly nothing that lags relentlessly and force closes on me. I just wanted a device that works how a smartphone should without spending days or weeks making it do so before the phone became moderately useful.
just to make sure you guys don't forget, considering my last reminder was on page 1:
don't feed the troll.
I don't even know why people with Iphones make an account on XDA...You take what apple gives you and that's that.

iPhones are horrendous aside from the app market, the UI is more cluttered than android though admittedly more uniform, and the hardware offers no choices. I am a long time winmo user and for a year and a half used android, I still have 14 android phones that dont get used. I'm just always on the lookout for the best. I'm a fanboy of no OS, whatever is best is what I use.

Oh, come on, surely you know that graphics speed (particularly 3d graphics) is measured in frames per second. You can't be going on and on about GPU acceleration the way you do and not know that. You're ether more clueless than I thought or just really good at trolling.

Exactly,
BTW Samsung did enter into a agreement with Cyanogen group, my guess is it was preemptive strategy.
People who look at an Android phone as laggy have not really taken advantage of ALL the great work by the Devs here @ XDA, or Rootzwiki or elsewhere. My phone is screaming fast great battery life....etc.
My guess is Samsung along with HTC in particular are integrating the advancements made by US in the android community, because the fact that the op system is open all advancements can be blended in the best and fastest way. That is the beauty of the Android op system.
What Android is lacking is a singular voice......... Iphone is one phone one supplier. Android is many. So Iphone can effect great marketing assuring the customer that paying more for less is awesome and makes them feel good. But the fact is the Iphone is less for more. Android needs to get this message out in a single voice from all suppliers.

so they're combining the efforts of the xda community, google, and all of the OEMs to make an OS work almost as well as wp7 and (sadly) IOS do? Of course people will still have full system access to slow it down.
z33 i perfectly understand the point you wanna make here. I know you're not a simple troll, just a quite informed and very very picky user (like i am after all). Tbh i wasn't really likely to pick another android phone in the latest months, because i was (and i actually still am) disappointed about how the aosp is managed by google. After a year of usage i came to the conclusion that android os has many, MANY flaws. I started considering other devices, like wp7 phones, the iphone and even the new bold 9900, but after a lot of reflections i came to a quite simple conclusion: sure android isn't perfect, but jumping ship to any other os would have still felt like a downgrade to me, being used to what android offers to users: it simply felt like not having a real choice. Basically i (re)discovered that messing up my phone and being able to plug it to every pc or mac as a mere mass storage is actually something i like and need. So a couple weeks ago i looked around, checked which one was the most up to date and powerful android phone and picked up my sgs2, simple as that. Now i'm running a simple aosp rom, and i can say i'm not bothered that much about not having samsung's hw accelerated ui (which is a bit of a lie actually: if you load the tw launcher with a few widgets it actually lags): i use opera mobile for browsing, which is totally fast and smooth (buttery smooth), and launcher pro plus as a launcher, which is virtually lag free on this device, regardless how badly you load it with widgets.
It's true, you can see it from what i just said, android is all about workarounds to avoid flaws and bugs, but honestly i prefer *****ing a bit more with my phone to get it running as i like rather than getting any wp7 or ios device that takes no effort to "customize", but at the end of the day is like a wife telling you what you can and can't do
That's the way i see it at least...

And the Tab isn't included
I expect an update from Google reasonably quickly which will prevent Apple trying the same trick with other companies.
In other news, Nokia have won against Apple, meaning they'll earn royalties from Apple.

The Lumia 800 is a beautiful phone, but still very limited when it comes to apps and features when compared to the SGS2.

i think there is a big Potential in apps for window phone in future !!
Windows phone is far from limited in terms of apps. If you want live wallpapers and an aesthetic clash, go android. I prefer a visually appealing OS to having a wallpaper that moves. Plus, there's still not an android phone that runs as fluid as a wp7 device. It doesn't matter how many cores they throw at it.
z33dev33l, i was trolling in that google/motorola vs apple thread, and i came across you. in all honesty, i had never considered a windows phone only because i havent seen windows market/push them hard (yet...) and i wasnt sure if they would be around for long. perhaps that's just me being naive, because seeing the decline of companies like RIM does put the ebb/flow of the cellphone business a little more into perspective. and i do believe windows are good phones (mainly from user reviews on various sites.) so, the possibility of windows picking-up market share is more of a reality. what are your thoughts on microsoft's long-term commitment in the cellular arena?
Android is open source. You can play xbox games on your android phone using the ONLIVE app.
You also get custom roms on android everything else windows doesn't
Before wen i was un educated i pursuaded my friend to get a windows phone but then i got a android phone and he was so jealous

Honestly, Microsoft sucks at pushing their products. They are a software company primarily for computers so they're used to the OEMs pushing for them. With companies like Nokia, that's an excellent plan because Nokia is everything a cellular company should be. Unfortunately, the other OEM's are more concerned with marketing the size of your processor over the software.

xbox with onlive is hardly comparable to true XBL integration, wp7 already takes care of what custom roms are meant to achieve without the need for flashing, it runs smoother and lasts much longer on the same battery. I find the part about your education prompting your choice to be largely ironic given your post quality and your friend is fortunate.

Okay let me explain again. Android is open source, so for many, you are able to flash different roms and totally Re_Arrange.
On windows its totally boring, same look all the time.
Second, new android phones have become much faster and battery life has dramatically improved considering all the things you can do on android and all the things people run on their phone.
(Droid razr maxx is an example, 2x the battery life of any windows phone)
My third point is the low amount of apps windows phones have, its such a boring market place with nothing on it, you dont get to experiance the games that android users can
Fourth point, us android users can do virtually anything with our phone, we can run windows xp, we can get a home launcher that is the same as windows 7/ apple or anything else.
Phones like the nokia lumia are such bad value for money because the phone has virtually nothing. It has nothing on android or apple.
People say windows operating system is fast/ well not anymore, us android users are now on dual and quad core so get of your hateraid
OMG. Counter Strike On Android! http://cs-portable.net/
I was playing counter strike from my dual core android phone, you cant do that on a windows phone.
I can download all my songs of my phone on android(for free but im not gonna tell u where)
I was playing saints row 3 on onlive and dirt 3 which is a little fun experiance that no other experiance that i can get that windows cant.
I have loads of apps to choose from /windows doesnt.
I basically theres nothing windows is fast at really

I find that your argument is flawed somewhat. Android users who frequent these forums tend to stay with Android because they enjoy tinkering with their phones. Something that is simply not possible on WP7. We dont care about XBL integration, we care about custom roms and overclocking...

^ Windows Phone users do flash custom roms. I flashed my hd7 all the time, I had to unlock it and flash it just to change the search provider from Bing.
On Android I use Spark 360 for XBL integration.

great !! android lover !!
I can just agree with z33dev33l . WP is just smoother and the whole system is more fluid even with one core. Yes you cant modify it the way you can do that with android, but I dont think that you need to. I had a Radar before my Nexus S and I regretted swaping it for the Nexus S because on single core android isnt the smoothest. A few days ago I ve switched back to an HD7 and I love it.
I think you wont regret buying one WP7 device, if you like the Metro style. The Lumia 800 is good but maybe after the S2 the screen is smaller a bit.
BTW: you have the opportunity to flash a custom rom for some WP7 devices (eg.:HD7, but not easy like on android) but you dont need to because its good as it is.
You must haven't tried ICS? It pawns Mango in every way except email. Speed and fluidity.
