Hi guys
I have the Motorola XOOM uk version its wifi only with the ota 3.1 update.... I am keen to root it as I have a rootec smart phone and can see the benefits.. trouble is I have read simply dozens of different tutorials about unlocking the bootloader, rooting, one click root etc but whenever I come across another tutorial I find reviews that state it bricked their tablet.
Does anyone have the same version of XOOM that I have and has actually successfully rooted it? If so which tutorial did you follow? I really need an easy to understand version....I really don't want to brick my new XOOM....you understand
thank you guys
Phil

I used that exact same method on my UK MZ604 (WiFi) and it went without a hitch.
Just be sure and follow the instructions exactly and make sure you have adb connection to Xoom before you start. Obviously, you'll need the SDK files.
I unlocked the bootloader and rooted it with no problems!! Fantastic now have custom rom flashed. Yeehaa
Last week I purchased a XOOM from a local importer (way less expensive than our telco's), but im not exactly sure what region its from.
Model : MZ601
Firmware Configuration Version : GAS_ASIA_USAEVRSTURTIRD_P037
Build Number: H.6.5-17-1
Has 32gb, 3g + WiFi , and also came with a UK power plug.
If anyone could identify what region my XOOM is from, or if its one of the GED models I've heard of (but im doubting its GED, I think they are just USA?
If I can find out where its from etc, then id know whether to wait for an official XOOM ICS update ofr it, or root & flash something custom.
Any help, greatly appreciated.
Thats a EU 3G Xoom.
And it likely won't be recieveing ICS from motorola or google for a while.

I suapected it was a uk model, but the firmware naming had me unsure. I had a look at the motorola xoom support site which lists the stock firmwares (always good to have a backup of stock just incase) but not sure which to download.
Us it worrh waitinf on stock for official ics, or is there a particular custom ics thats really worth flashing? ( bearing in mind im not that fussed on 3g capabilities at this stage.)

There is also the P6200L which works natively on the 850mhz frequency. Some people have suggested that both of these share the same modem chip which is also supposedly supports quad band.
I've personally tried flashing the modem of the 6200L on my 6200 using odin. But could only get EDGE and not HSPA. I think others have had success though.
Well, that would be enough already.. Going to search for a p6200L modem file, will try it out and report back here! Others had success? Sounds promising... thanx!!
If u dont mind and you still have it, can you upload it?

I just got this Motorola XT886 phone which kind of exactly looks like a RAZR.
I saw it on a list that it will get the official Jellybean update in the near future, but no date had been provided.
Anyone happen to know about this pone? I got it today after my Bionic died and Verizon refused to help....so I switched lol.
Also I was wondering if there was any root information on the phone. I can't seem to find hardly any info about it. If I can sideload the firmware and it will be functional then I will.
Thanks!
Xt886 is a gsm phone (razr v) ? Not a cdma phone..
Do you talk about the right phone

Wrong forum. This is for the XT926 & XT925 only. You'd get much more help by posting in the correct forum. If I'm not mistaking that's the RAZR V

I'd like to start a thread regarding the NET10 Samsung S4 4G LTE SGH-S970G.
Has anyone seen a way to unlock this device? Neither of the standard 2 methods of unlocking a Galaxy S 4 seem to work. I am unable to reach SERVICE MODE MAIN MENU beyond step 4 using the method described here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2282683
From what I have gathered thus far this might be able to be resolved by downgrading the radio/baseband however I would need an older stock firmware for this device and I do not believe one exists - and I am afraid of bricking the device using any other stock firmware.
Does anyone know of a method I might be able to carrier unlock this puppy?
Thanks in advance!
I have the same phone, SGH-S970G, and am unable to find a root option for it either. Has anyone found one?
EDIT: (01/14/14) SafeRoot also worked for me. Thank you to all for your help, I really appreciate it!

You could try apps that root the phone for you such as Framaroot and Poot, Framaroot has it's own forum on XDA. If you try let me know which works

Does anybody know of any flashing methods for this device, such as custom recovery and roms?
I heard something about a region unlocked helping to unlock the metro
C version of this phone I think that is close to this model so I guess we could start there
Guys please try rooting and then using the app "region lock away" it unlocks sims on other gs4, tested myself yesterday, please someone try with this model and reply soon. MAY NOT work on 4.3 but totally safe, will look for older modems. and report back
Cheers.
I can try but can anyone post a link to region unlock and the rooting app I've been looking for them
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470551
that's region away, the poster that said previously that he rooted will hopefully send a link to his App/process.
hit thanks if i helped.
Ok just need a link to safe root

Which part failed? Rooting or region unlock?
Sent from my SGH-S970G using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Rooting seem to went fine unlocking seem to not go so fine someone offered me like $350 for it so I'll sell it rooted. Still couldn't get the menu it shows different carriers but network fails to connect for some reason
I noticed that some members have had these straight talk phones for more than a year now, so shouldn't some people be able to unlock their Straight Talk/Tracfone Galaxy S4 phones by now?
