Is it possible to run HSDPA @ 850mhz on our devices?
Iam trapped on an remote island in australia for work with only one service provider, providing its service at 850mhz. Their are calling it NextG but it isnt anything new, just limited frequencies.. I dont wanna buy a new phone (what is not even possible here) Wasnt able to get any service so far. Have u guys got anything for me?
Can i somhow run it at 850mhz by flashing a custom modem or is it the hardware what sais "no you cant"?

There is also the P6200L which works natively on the 850mhz frequency. Some people have suggested that both of these share the same modem chip which is also supposedly supports quad band.
I've personally tried flashing the modem of the 6200L on my 6200 using odin. But could only get EDGE and not HSPA. I think others have had success though.
Well, that would be enough already.. Going to search for a p6200L modem file, will try it out and report back here! Others had success? Sounds promising... thanx!!
If u dont mind and you still have it, can you upload it?

I would also like to know if the phone can work TMOUS' network. Has anyone had success?
Well, i haven't used 3g till now, and today activated it, only to find that it doesnt work.
DDKP3
BCK Kernel Beta 13
Deodexed
No other mods.
Network mode is automatic
When i select WCDMA only. The phone is not able to connect to the network.
And on automatic, the phone stays on EDGE only
Anyone insights on it?
Had read Argentine people having 3g problems long ago. Anyone from there can help?
Also had read somewhere that it might be a CSC problem. I checked using *#1234# to see if CSC is unknown, but its proper.
More info from further posts and replies -
Service provider is Vodafone India.
Confirmed that its a phone problem, by using the SIM in another phone [SE Xperia Arc], and it worked on it.
SOLUTION -
Well, I had removed the sim to try it on another phone, and well on putting it back in the phone, it worked!
I actually feel like a noob after this!
Anyway, thanks everyone for trying to help!
I'm using 3g.... its working great!!! What service do you use? Also are u sure you have subscribed to 3G services... sometimes it takes a while to get activated.

Yea, obviously it isn't a general problem faced by all.
I guess, someone who's faced such a problem only might be able to help.
Had read alot of people having such issues, but now searching isn't giving quite the required results.
If you can, try your SIM card into another smartphone which is confirmed working with 3G, just to be sure the problem comes from your phone.

I just got a SGS3 today, but I am not sure which provider it is from (Verison, AT&T...). I picked it up from a friend, and not from a store. I believe it was from Bell, but I am not too sure.
Is there a way I can find out the provider? So far, I see that you need to know your provider to make sure you don't brick your machine :/
Regards,
404
Edit: I haven't looked into it yet (I will after I finish editing) but do I need to know the provider to unlock the phone, or is that one quick method?
Edit2: I remembered it came with a Rogers Sim card
Sounds like a stolen phone......

The baseband is i9300 xxale8.
I just tried rooting it using SGS3 Toolkit, not sure where I went wrong, but It just displays "Samsung" before going black.
Edit: When did they make you also press the Home Button to go into download mode. That caused me some headache
Reflash stock ROM maybe?

Trying that now. In download mode, it shows that the current binary is custom and system status is official. I'm searching how to turn the binary back to official. Do you know?
Nope. Sorry! It usually is branded in build.prop

I gotta ask...Did you flip it over and look at the backplate? Mine says verizon.
That is not a verizon baseband. Verizon begins with I535...not sure what provider uses that number because it appears to be the international variants baseband. Not sure though, but definitely not verizon

Didn't expect it to be from Verison, but I didn't expect it to be from the others as well, and I had to post this somewhere
I9300 sounds like an international phone so you most likely have the gsm international version... but im not gonna lie... the op makes it sound like its a stolen phone :silly:

A friend of mines relative works for a phone company, so I got it through them. I hope that doesn't make it sound sketchy :/
My old SGS2 was actually stolen from me I wish the IMEI number was printed on the box so that I could trace it
You have the international version. It is not tied to a carrier the same way the US versions are and has a separate forum.

Hey guys
Flashed my Telstra i9305T with the unbranded hong Kong firmware from Sammobile using Odin today, all went well except no matter what I do I can't get it to connect to Telstra 4G. Only data I can get is HSDPA+. I've set all the APIs up but still mothkng . Has anyone else had this issue or know what can can do to fix it? I've spent all night on Google and can't find squat
Any help is greatly appreciated otherwise I'll attempt to ref lash the Telstra bloated from tomorrow
Cheers
1st wrong section. Should be Q&A
2nd flash a 9305T modem. That will then give you 4g back.

If a mod can move this that would be great.
Also is there a way I can keep the unbranded hong kong firmware but flash a Telstra modem?
im not using custom roms just stock Sammy firmware as I haven't unlocked/rooted the phone?

Yes, the modem can be flashed on its own, here they all are.

Thanks for the replies guys
so I have no choice but to CWM and root it I take it
that being the case
is this the correct procedure for i9305T
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1914394
Coming from nexus devices only so its a little more complex than im used to haha
OK have installed CWM. do I need root to flash the modem or is cwm enough?
Basicaly once I have Hongkong firmware and can flash the modem that's all I want to do so the less extra stuff I need to put on it the better
ok guys
thanks for putting up with my noobishness.
I have now got HK firmware, CMW and Telstra modem running and have 4g again
Big thanks to you both.
Just wanting to confirm ill now have to manuall flash updates from sammmobile as the combo of modem and firmware wont allow OTA's.
each time I flash the latest version of JB/KLP ill need to reload the Telstra modem (unless there is a newer version)
Thanks for all your help again.
Cheers

If you have a 9305t with telstra you can use either one of the 9305t modems. I haven't done a speed test but for me I am getting a better signal strength with the newer UBALK2 modem then with the DVALI5. I have a 9305t on the telstra network
edit: did a quick speed test and got about 10mb/s quicker download and about 7mb/s slower upload then dvali5. This is in the middle of Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast, but I believe speeds will vary with network congestion

UBALK2 modem
Hi there,
Could anyone who's using the UBALK2 modem help me, please? I'd like to know if the UBALK2 modem has support to 3G on 1900MHz frequency. Samsung says the I9305TUBALK2 baseband has support to the following frequencies, but I never trust them
3G HSPA+ 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 MHZ
4G LTE 800 / 1800 / 2600 MHz
Cheers!

N8000 has a 3g radio, the N8020 is 4g lte if I'm not mistaken. My guess is that it would break the ability to connect with mobile networks. The rest may work fine. Personally, I would not try it.
