When someone can get ahold of a sprint galaxy s3 odin (or the verizion developer edition odin though i'm pretty sure sprints will leak earlier)since the two phones are the same, can't some flash (Sprint) odin on the verizon unit, root it, unlock bootloader, then add verizon libs, rils, etc files (And eventually make it into a flash able zip) to make it actually work on the carrier. Is this just a crazy idea.
I hope this makes sense xD
Wouldn't the us cellular sg3 be better for this as it is the same phone? Don't us cellular run off Verizon towers

If you could do that why wouldn't you wait for the unlocked Verizon version from samsung and save your self all the work of getting rid of sprint stuff and adding in the Verizon stuff.
But don't think it will be that easy

Cuz i don't know if or when its gonna leak :/
This is already being discussed. IIRC flashing the sprint software bricked the phone. Only time will tell but I'm guessing the VZW dev software will have the same effect.

They may have changed the partition tables, thus flashing the sprint Odin could irreparably damage the phone. Esesially if the efs partitions were different.

When do you think that the vzw developer edition odin would leak.
Also I heard a rumor that sammy's gonna send out an ota that would make it unlockable

Is it possible to run HSDPA @ 850mhz on our devices?
Iam trapped on an remote island in australia for work with only one service provider, providing its service at 850mhz. Their are calling it NextG but it isnt anything new, just limited frequencies.. I dont wanna buy a new phone (what is not even possible here) Wasnt able to get any service so far. Have u guys got anything for me?
Can i somhow run it at 850mhz by flashing a custom modem or is it the hardware what sais "no you cant"?

There is also the P6200L which works natively on the 850mhz frequency. Some people have suggested that both of these share the same modem chip which is also supposedly supports quad band.
I've personally tried flashing the modem of the 6200L on my 6200 using odin. But could only get EDGE and not HSPA. I think others have had success though.
Well, that would be enough already.. Going to search for a p6200L modem file, will try it out and report back here! Others had success? Sounds promising... thanx!!
If u dont mind and you still have it, can you upload it?

So guys. I got my VZW GS3 flashed to simple mobile today and it works I got G internet signal and mms and such. But as of now for some reason. On white backgrounds on any app the screen flickers. So it's running bonestock a ,vzw Rom ,do I download Roms for T-Mobile gs3 ? Since simple mobile uses tmobile radios. Or do I still download VZW gs3 Roms and set the apns and such? Will I lose the flash?? Not sure if it was flashed to work or that they unlocked the baseband..
Any advice would be great!!
Im thinking if you paid money for your i535 to be flashed to Simple Mobile... you should ask for a refund.

believe me, i wouldnt do this. My father insisted in switching in order to save a ton of bucks at the end of the month
Were you running BoneStock before the flash? It has been my experience that each S3 is differently when it comes to custom ROMs. A ROM that works for you may not work for me, even though we have identical phones.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
You must stick with SCH-i535 ROMs. Especially SCH-i535 kernels and modems. Most ROMs made for other models won't even flash due to self checking Updater-Script. But kernels and modems do not have this check and you will brick if you flash them.

Gotcha, Ill stick to Verizon S3 roms, hopefully i dont lose the flash, not quite sure if they unlocked the baseband though, Global settings should work if i flash a CM10 rom correct?
and by that i mean setting my mobile network to Global and inputting the simple mobile APN?

You should be able to use the simcard when you change the settings to GSM only. I've tried a T-Mobile sim in my i535 both in Bonestock ROM and CM. Didn't test the data, but text msgs and calls worked fine. I used the phone info app to change settings.

I have a new N5 and its unlocked and rooted. I get LTE just fine on the stock rom but when I flash any custom roms, LTE doesn't work. Even when I restore my backed up EFS on the custom rom, LTE still doesn't work. Anytime I nandroid back to my stock rom, LTE works fine. Any ideas or help will be appreciated.

Did you flash Sprint software? It could be the APN.

I think there's some extra APKs you need to add to custom ROMs.
I fixed the issue. I unrooted and returned my phone back to stock. Then I found a sprint. Zip that you flash with custom roms and that worked.

Its a zip to flash after roms that sets the correct APN settings for sprint. I can't remember the thread I found it in though. But it was for the same issue I was having with my LTE/3g switching.

The reason I am searching through posts is this: my 3G works fine. But when it kicks over to LTE... Nothing happens... In a minute or two I may get 4 mbs or something pretty good and then nothing again. I need it to actually work. My wife has the same issue on her S4 and she is stock. It switches over to LTE.... Nothing. I have LTE off mostly. Steady slow 3g is better than no progress on LTE.
update profile
Should provide the correct settings in the custom Roms assuming the creator added the update profile features. I know cm does

I'm on Rogers. I actually don't know if I don't have LTE, or if the region I'm currently living in just has terrible LTE support since my friends don't have LTE here either (and I'm sure like, none of them have flash an.. anything).

You have to turn off your device ... Not just reboot to download mode.
If you just reboot to download mode, modem partition will be protected... If you turn off your device before going into download mode, you will be fine. I even removed the battery to make sure it was really off.
