HTC Sensation Volume rocker replacement - HTC Sensation

Hi Guys,
Just a quick heads up, My volumes rocker decided to go walkies so i contacted HTC via there live chat to see if i could get a new one as i no this has happened to a few people.
Basically they need to send a whole new back cover. So i provided them with my IMEI, ctc number and address and a new one will be with me in two weeks.
It works out well as i needed a new case for my sensation lol.
Stu

Nice. My rocker's been a bit wobbly since day one but after telling them about, they told me to go to a service center to get the issue assessed. Too lazy to do that so I'm just praying it hangs in there.

HTC US Service Sucks

I've owned a series of HTC phones, largely because of the great resource this forum represents. But I think I've bought my last one.
Long rant follows:
In late December, I got a TP2 as a gift. The unit was new, sealed packaging, the works. T-Mobile branded and locked, but that was OK because I had service with Tmo.
When I got the phone, it was almost impossible to hear anyone on a phone call with the built in speaker. Playing music or other speakerphone activities were fine, but trying to use my ear against the phone didn't work. There are lots of postings about this, but none of the software or config changes worked for me. Tmo refused to support the phone in any way, since I wasn't the original buyer. Even though the phone had only just been released, and had to be under warranty. So I sent the phone to HTC for repair.
Two weeks later I get the phone back, and it still has the problem! Called HTC, and finally found out that they had replaced the antenna! Say What? How is that supposed to raise the volume? I also discovered that they had changed the phone's serial number and the IMEI! I suspect that means they swapped the motherboard, but no one would admit that, and it didn't fix the problem.
So I sent it back to HTC again. Another two weeks, and it comes back. Not in an HTC box with form-fit packing, but what looks like a recycled box that had been used a couple of times. Now the sound works, but there are two faint, light blue smudges in the screen, visible against white backgrounds. Fingerprints? Call HTC again, get another RMA, off to the post office again.
I get confirmation from the post office that the box has been delivered. No word from HTC. After a week, I call them, and finally get told they are trying to decide if they will repair the phone, since obviously I damaged it! I blow a fuse, since I haven't had the phone in my possession long enough to damage it! Ask to speak to the supervisor (Brian Harris) by name. Too many calls to HTC. He agrees that the phone has been in the shop longer than in my hands, and agrees to get it fixed.
Another week goes by. Another call to HTC. No one knows whats happening. All I can find out is that somebody is working on it, but no one knows who, what they are doing, or when I will get the phone back.
I thought getting a new phone was a good thing. I didn't expect to get a box of grief and a huge waste of time.
Tried to find someone at HTC to complain/escalate to, but HTC doesn't seem to have any customer relations contacts or feedback addresses listed anywhere.
Anyone have any suggestion for escalation or otherwise dealing with HTC?

[Q] Replacement Voume Rocker?

Hi there, long time lurker but first time posting.
I've just got the Sensation based on the feedback a lot of users here have given it, and so far it's a fantastic handset except for one thing: the volume rocker is extremely flimsy!
I took the battery door off yesterday and when I went to put it back on the volume rocker had slipped out from its opening and snapped as I was replacing the phone.
Is there anywhere I can get a new volume rocker? I've already called HTC UK and they've said the only way to replace is to send the handset in to get repaired. I was hoping I might be able to buy an OEM battery door from eBay but none of them seem to explicitly state that the volume rocker does come with the case, and i'd rather not spend £30~ for a tiny piece of plastic
If anyone has any suggestions they'd be greatly appreciated
Cheers, Dave

[Q] My volume rocker fell out!

I had my cracked screen replaced not too long ago from a guy online and he did a great job of it. Problem is my volume rocker fell out. He said he'd fix it, but I'd have to be without my phone for quite a while and that's a drag. It's also been a while since this happened and I'm afraid too much time has now passed to send it in.
Nothing appears to be broken on either the phone or the volume rocker, so I'm wondering if there is a relatively simple fix for this. Obviously I could just glue it, but I don't want to do that in case I break my screen again (you never know...).
Anyone have any ideas?
got any pictures?
Not terribly uncommon. If you bought it from a tmo store just call and see if they have a case to swap.

Well, I think it's well past the warranty. Think they would still go for it?

I don't think it can be out of warranty. It hasn't even been a year since it was released.

I think the warranty only lasts a month or so. It's been a lot longer than that.

It has a one year warranty. I bought mine on Craiglist, the volume rocker fell out, I called HTC and got it replaced through the warranty department.

oh, nice! So I should make it an HTC thing and not a TMO thing?
My volume rocker fell out about a month after I got this phone. I was playing angry birds and it just came out. I called HTC and they sent me a replacement back cover. Been using the new back now for a bit over a month and so far so good. Now if I can only figure out how to fix the power button issue of double clicking on occasion to wake the phone up and turn it off after the 2.3.4 update......

Right, HTC would be the ones to hit up for a new back cover...they are really good about that stuff too ( i had problems with my MT4G memory card and had to call them). Tmobile does not have them, that's why warranty phones don't ever come with a back cover or battery

The volume rocker button is a known issue with HTC. I called today and gave me the number 1-888-356-2375 to replace the back cover. It is covered under HTC 1year warranty.
Mine fell out today.
Along with the 'stuck pixels' and crappy battery life, I cant wait to upgrade. It's too bad because i really like the phone overall.
It's not part of t-mobile's warranty (just the main device is) but if the store has any returned they can trade you. Otherwise, yeah, HTC will send you one if you don't mind the wait.
They're also supposed to be releasing a software update for the power-button issues.
Mine fell out as well today. I was going to ask if instead of sending me the black and grey housing, if I can get the aluminum one. Or aluminum "looking" one. I will post my results!
I also recently heard of a battery upgrade? instead of the original 1520 mah there is now the 1950 mah? Maybe with a little kicking and screaming about the volume rocker falling out and me having to have the new housing re-ghost armored + crappy battery life "even with custom rom and kernel" 6-7 hours if im lucky, they can throw it in. I do have a gift when it comes to being a barterer :-D
My volume rocker just fell out today! So I will be contacting HTC soon!!

[Q] Dust under screen

I've been using my triumph since September, and I'm loving it a lot. However I found that there are some dust under my screen and I'm currently using the RF case since the first day I have my phone (I didn't toke off the first layer that it came with but I could see that it is deep enough under the screen). Is it just me or any other else having the same problem I have? And does anyone knows how to clean it up?
I have the same issue on the top right corner of the screen. The camera/flash is also filled with quite a bit of dust.
Not too much we can do besides call up VM and try to convince them it's a manufacturing flaw and send us a replacement.
My flash light are full of white stuff.. May be I'll keep it till I can't stay with the dust. Beside I have the 1 or 2 year warranty from bestbuy, will they do it as well?
I recently got shipped a refurb because me original phone broke (wouldn't turn on). The refurb had dust underneath the screen, so I called VM to ask if there was an easy way to remove the dust without opening the phone up. They told me that they would just replace the phone for me and within 2 days I found in my mailbox a brand new Triumph, completely unopened in box.
Personally, I think this is incredible because my original phone was a used one I picked up off craigslist. Must say, I have been really impressed with their customer service so far
Thanks! Quick question, I'm currently running TG CM7 on my MT, do I have to flash it back to stock rom before I ask for a replace? And will BestBuy do a replace?
Flash the stock rom & put the stock recovery back on it. Those things should be on this site, if not android forums had what you need for sure.

Experiences with faulty hardware?

I recently got a gs4g and I've noticed two things, 1. there's a ray of light that bleeds from the home button and 2. the menu button likes to press itself once in a while.
I was wondering if anyone else has had similar problems and what their experience was like doing a return through tmo or samsung. Apparently tmo wants me to pay shipping, they won't send me a replacement first (even if I temporarily pay full price), and it will take 3 to 4 weeks. Samsung will pay for shipping, but they take just as long, don't guarantee anything, and at best send me a refurb back (no replacements).
These 2 problems are surprisingly minor in terms of usability (especially the menu button thing), so I've just kept the phone and it hasn't really pissed me off too much yet. What do you think I should do?
BTW this phone is out of the 20 day return period, I noticed the menu thing on like day 22.

Take that thing back to the TMOB store and tell them you want a new one. When they tell you that it's passed the grace period start to get a little loud. Keep getting louder until they either replace it for you or you are asked to leave by a security guard.
I was under the impression that the stores are separate entities from online sales with different prices and procedures. Has anyone taken a phone back to the store that was bought online? I have a feeling they'd tell me they couldn't do anything and to ship it back.
Check that it is a "company store" and not a franchise.

"T-Mobile Store" is what you are looking for, not a "T-Mobile Preferred Retailer"
I just got an exchange from tmobile and have the exact same issue with the light pertruding from home button, I don't have issue with menu button though. I noticed this on day one. But another issue I received with phone is if i shake or tap the phone I can feel the vibrator (its very faint but I can feel it) I even checked my old device to see if it did the same or if I was just crazy, and wouldn't you know it did not do it. I called tmobile and told them about it and of course got disconnected in middle of conversation, so rather than going through the issue with another rep (annoying) I am just dealing with it. Was thinking it was a bad lcd or could maybe cause it to fail prematurely that's why I called. Now that I see someone else has same light issue I think I'm gonna call them back

Yeah I think mine has that vibrator issue too, but I thought it was just natural vibration since the thing is so thin. That really doesn't bother me at all. It's amazing how benign these problems are, but I'd at least like to get that menu button fixed if it wasn't such a hassle.
I too have the home button light issue but not the menu button issue. And I can also feel it vibrate when I tap it a little. It never bothered me so I left it alone. I've had the phone for over a year and a half already and nothing seems to be malfunctioning.

Heh, my phone has the opposite vibrator problem. So friggin strong. But I won't complain
I've had four of these phones through warranty replacement over the last few years. Everyone one of them had the home button light ray design flaw. My current handset had it until I dropped it and cracked the screen then it went away, so there's your fix

Handset protection on my TMobile account 2 times, and the first time I told them I couldn't get any signal after the kies update to GB.

Update: They *just* stopped selling this phone (possibly due to Apple's lawsuit), so t-mobile won't replace it anymore. The best they can do is the exhibit 4g (no thanks). I'm glad I snatched it when I did, just wish I noticed this problem sooner. I think I'm going to send it to Samsung for refurb.

Not so cool actually. For reasons like this plus lower supply = higher prices and lower community support, so be sure to thank the ROM devs every chance you get
Follow up: So I sent the phone back to Samsung for repairs. I told the guy on the phone about the menu button problem in great detail and he sent me an email with return info etc. I receive an email a few days after they receive it that basically says they ran some standard tests and couldn't determine that anything is wrong with it so please provide them more info. It didn't say how to provide them with more info so I just replied to the email with a very detailed description of how to reproduce the problem (basically just leave the phone on the table with the screen on). They send me back the phone, un-repaired, with a note about how nothing is wrong with it.
Moral of the story: Do not buy any Samsung product without also buying an extended warranty from the retailer. Samsung does not honor their warranty when it comes to intermittent problems that are not immediately reproducable.
