Thanks for posting. I have made a simple batchfile for Windows to automate the install for non-technical users .
I've credited you for posting this and Chainfire for inspiration! Thanks mates!
Btw. every bootanimation can be pushed with this script .

wicked!! it simplify the process of switching the bootanimation.
BTW, I wonder if there is already bootanimation file in system/media, will it be overwritten?

I thought it did, but I'm not 100% sure about it. You'll have to test it Otherwise the script can be modified with a simple, single command to correct it .

Thanks! !!!!!!

not working for me

Somehow I couldn't download using Firefox. Downloaded it fine using IE.
For those having download issues:
On windows - right click on download link and save link
On phone - long press on download link and save link
On mac - control + mouse click on download link and save link
Xda seems to be having issues with their attachment service, hence the maintenance tonight. Sorry guys, but the above should work for ya.

Did you compress the .zip file instead of store ? Just wondering because it
isnt working .
I too have tried all methods and can't get this to work either.

For bootanimation.zip, I put it in /data/local for it to work.

Sorry, guess i should have mentioned how to install.
Just copy the above boot file to the following location: NEEDS ROOT
/system/media
If you have a bootanimation.zip file there I would recommend renaming it to something else, then pasting the above file to that folder, reboot and watch the Apple logo get the golden showers
Thanks!!!
I assume this is HDPI only right? I know a friend that has an Android phone, I don't know if he rooted it, but if he did, I'll recommend him this.

If your using a file manager app like astro file manager of root explorer. Open that and scroll down past the SDcard folder and below that you should see the folder "System". Select that then scroll down to Media. Select that and paste the boot animation to that folder.

I have never personally tried to make a boot animation myself. You can do a google search "how to create android bootanimation" that should give you some sites that can give you insight on how to create your own bootnaimation file. The 3D android urinating a friend sent me that one and I dont know if he made or found it.

If you are using Root Explorer did you select the "Mounted as r/w, r/o"?
You might have to select the grey box up top that says mount r/w and press it until it says Mount R/O, then it will let you paste. Try that and see if that helps.

Or even better, use File Expert
If your phone is rooted "Root explorer" is the best file manager app I have ever used. It has a text editor/viewer(for xmls and build.prop) and it organizes files you zip or unzip nicely into folders. It isnt free though. Oh and most importantly it allows you to change permissions when dealing with system apps/files like the bootanimation.zip in system/media.
Edit** thought it over & I dont remember if you have to change permissions for bootanimation, but I did.
Ios suckkss.

Copy both files to system/app and give them the same permissions as the other files in that folder.
Do the same with the attached files (LG Home selector).
Reboot the phone and it will ask you what home app to use.
Afterwards, you can delete the apk of your current Home app.

Run it the .bat file and type the following at the prompt when it says it can't find the email application:

SecExachange.apk

This one worked for me on the Touchwiz Email ON A DEODEXed Stock ROM. (I did not create the script, I just use it )
It did not work before the deodexed rom came out but that could have been a fluke (ie not sure).
Run it the .bat file and type the following at the prompt when it says it can't find the email application:
SecEmail_J.apk
If necessary, the following is the name of the exchange apk (this shouldn't be required though)
SecExchange.apk
Hope that helps you.
_______
Another note:
After you have performed this once successfully, copy the SecEmail_J.apk and SecExchange.apk from the /system/app folder on the phone to somewhere on your computer for future use.
When you go to flash a new rom, open the .zip file and drop the .apks into the /system/app folder inside the ROM that you want to install. You won't need to run the hack script or do anything special in recovery.
As long as Touchwiz is not updated, those .apk files will be usable in place of the script. (unless you get an uneditable ROM .zip).
If Touchwiz is updated in the future, the answer would be to repeat the hack process above and then get the new versions of the .apk files for future use.
As always, I hope this helps.
Let me know if anyone has difficulty.

Glad it worked! I was going to post the actual files from my phone but they are over 8 MB and XDA has an 8MB limit.
Alright, I ADDED THE FILES FOR THE ORIGINAL STOCK ROM!!!!
I had to use 7zip to split the files.
Remove the .zip and the parenthetical at the beginning of the filenames, then highlight both and hit extract. (name them "Exchange_Bypass.7z.001" and "Exchange_Bypass.7z.002" )
ACTUALLY,
(remove_this_and_the_.zip)Exchange_Bypass.7z.001
and
(remove_this_and_the_.zip)Exchange_Bypass.7z.002
work just fine. In other words, leaving the leading parenthetical does not cause a problem.
A pain, I know. But all you have to do is take the extracted files and put them in the "/system/app" folder of the ROM you wish to flash.
Alternatively, if you want to install on your phone (not flash with a ROM), use a root file manager, overwrite the files already in /system/app on your phone, then set the permissions to "rw-r--r--" (I haven't tried this one to be honest, it might be better to use the hack to accomplish this.)

I just tested them. They worked for me so I am not sure what to do?
I updated the post above to give the exact names to use.
Exchange_Bypass.7z.001
Exchange_Bypass.7z.002
Actually, all you need to do is remove the .zip portion.
I used the zip on MDL today and had no problems.
