This one worked for me on the Touchwiz Email ON A DEODEXed Stock ROM. (I did not create the script, I just use it )
It did not work before the deodexed rom came out but that could have been a fluke (ie not sure).
Run it the .bat file and type the following at the prompt when it says it can't find the email application:
SecEmail_J.apk
If necessary, the following is the name of the exchange apk (this shouldn't be required though)
SecExchange.apk
Hope that helps you.
_______
Another note:
After you have performed this once successfully, copy the SecEmail_J.apk and SecExchange.apk from the /system/app folder on the phone to somewhere on your computer for future use.
When you go to flash a new rom, open the .zip file and drop the .apks into the /system/app folder inside the ROM that you want to install. You won't need to run the hack script or do anything special in recovery.
As long as Touchwiz is not updated, those .apk files will be usable in place of the script. (unless you get an uneditable ROM .zip).
If Touchwiz is updated in the future, the answer would be to repeat the hack process above and then get the new versions of the .apk files for future use.
As always, I hope this helps.
Let me know if anyone has difficulty.

Glad it worked! I was going to post the actual files from my phone but they are over 8 MB and XDA has an 8MB limit.
Alright, I ADDED THE FILES FOR THE ORIGINAL STOCK ROM!!!!
I had to use 7zip to split the files.
Remove the .zip and the parenthetical at the beginning of the filenames, then highlight both and hit extract. (name them "Exchange_Bypass.7z.001" and "Exchange_Bypass.7z.002" )
ACTUALLY,
(remove_this_and_the_.zip)Exchange_Bypass.7z.001
and
(remove_this_and_the_.zip)Exchange_Bypass.7z.002
work just fine. In other words, leaving the leading parenthetical does not cause a problem.
A pain, I know. But all you have to do is take the extracted files and put them in the "/system/app" folder of the ROM you wish to flash.
Alternatively, if you want to install on your phone (not flash with a ROM), use a root file manager, overwrite the files already in /system/app on your phone, then set the permissions to "rw-r--r--" (I haven't tried this one to be honest, it might be better to use the hack to accomplish this.)

I just tested them. They worked for me so I am not sure what to do?
I updated the post above to give the exact names to use.
Exchange_Bypass.7z.001
Exchange_Bypass.7z.002
Actually, all you need to do is remove the .zip portion.
I used the zip on MDL today and had no problems.

Well i know many of you have done this but i havnt seen it posted in this thread so here it goes just in case. * Longer Process* but skips dealing with all the commands.
To get auto rotate browser without going through all the command process.
1. Download Koush auto rotate browser here, http://www.koushikdutta.com/2008/12/auto-rotate-for-android-browser.html.
2. Open the browser.apk file, I use winrar.
3. Copy all files from that zip.
4. Open any theme of your choice using winrar, goto app and open the browser.apk
5. Open the browser.apk in winrar and paste the files that you have copied from Koush's browser.apk
6. Save, Now you must autosign your update.zip by following this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3178676
7. Now put the update.zip that you just signed into the root of your sdcard.
7. Turn off phone and boot using home+power
8. Now hit alt+s to update, when finished reboot and walaah!
*This is for the people who are not comfortable using command prompt, works like a charm, has been tested on my phone using jf 1.31 rc30
? Has anyone els tried this and succeeded ?
Not understanding # 2, I went and downloaded the browser, it's an .apk not a zip file?
just fyi, the koush's browser does not need the odex file removed. it is just unnecessary, so why not remove it?

now do i just zip the folder with the pasted files in it? Do i add it to archive? I did that, then chose RAR format and then changed name of file to Browser.apk. Is this correct?

Whambam I've got it! You don't need to be deoxed and all that jazz. To use the hulu app you will need the modified version of flash. But to watch on the browser you can use the newest version of flash.
Step 1. Open the browser app
Step 2. Clear the url and type "about:debug" then press go (if you did it right nothing will happen)
Step 3. Press menu>more>settings
Step 4. Scroll down UAString then select" desktop"
Tada!!!!
Edit: apparently you still need the modded Hulu flash

Sorry, not going to post an apk. I've been down that road and you get nothing but grief from everyone for whom it doesn't work.
Again, it's easy to do. This is the Development forum. I would expect folks posting here to be familiar with the basics of packing/unpacking/signing apks and using a hex editor.

Unpacking the apk and isolating the file was no problem. But opening the file in a hex editor (I just tried an online one) produced a bunch of binary code I could not understand. Maybe when I get off of work I'll have more time to try and figure this out.

Actually, I found what seems to be an even better way. With this method you can keep the newest version of Flashplayer (10.1.92.xx from the Nexus/Market), but enable Hulu. Download the HuluPack 2.zip above. Open it and extract the install_flash_player.apk from the zip. Now open the .apk (explore, not try to isntall, Astro works well here), and find the libflashplayer.so file inside the lib folder in the .apk. Extract this to your SD card. Open root explorer, navigate to /system/lib and rename libflashplayer.so to libflashplayer.bak or cut and paste it to your SD card, whatever, just make sure you don't delete it. Now copy the libflashplayer.so from the HuluPack2 install_flash.apk into /system/lib. You can do all this whether Flash is part of your rom or installed using an apk, and you can do this without rebooting the phone. After copying the libflashplayer.so to /system/lib, websites will recognize your flash player as a slightly older version of desktop flash, 10.52.x.x, and Hulu will work, but you will still get the benefit of better performance from the most recent flash player available.

It was only preinstalled in some regions - e.g. the UK. So care should be taken - point to the fact that it's available in hidden.rfs should be enough.
Regards,
Dave
ok here is the apk. you will need to extract the gameloft folder from hidden.rfs for it to work
Please only use this if your device came with nova
MOD: If there is an issue feel free to pull it or pm me
Any clues as to how to extract the relevant bits from the hidden.rfs file, to access gameloft folder? I also flashed my UK device, which came with NOVA, and obviously lost it. Would love to get it back. I've seen instructions but they often refer to Linux or the MacOS and, well, apart from Android, I run Windows.
download magiciso open the hidden file with that and extract what you need.
Or winimage. I am not going to upload it here for piracy reasons
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
if you already had it, just install the apk and it will work. The data should still be on the sdcard.
unless it has been wiped. if you are not sure weather you have the data, it will be in /gameloft/nova or something like that
Or do a search in this forum for a link to the full CPW firmware set including the full hidden.rfs image which has the full Nova HD installer in it, plus the instructions on how to extract it.
The first time you run the game it'll download something like 200MB of data to the sdcard if you haven't got the full gameloft folder installed ex the hidden.rfs file.
Guys, you are all very kind. Thanks for your suggestions. But my attempt to do this is still failing...
I downloaded the CPW rom but it was encoded. I downloaded the decoder but it errors (doesn't run at all in XP and gives lots of nice errors (java??) on Windows 7). So I cannot actually access the image, despite having ISOmagic ready to run.
It's driving me batty. I know it's just a few £ to purchase, but I'm so close to getting it back - I just can't bring myself to give Gameloft even more money than I already have.
Any final thoughts or tips on this?
TIA
Okay - tried the decode program on another Windows 7 installation and no errors. It decoded the ROM absolutely fine. The ENC file became a ZIP file. I opened the ZIP file and in there was a TAR file. I opened the TAR file with WinRAR and was finally able to extract the EFS file. Finally, using Magic ISO, I manually opened the EFS file and extracted the gameloft folder. I transferred it on to my GT and hey presto, it runs again!
Thanks so much for your help.
MOD : delete post.
can i installed this just like that???
Use winimage. Anyway nova is on Samsung apps now

Its not considered warez if it was included on the phone/tab/device originally. Thanks for being concerned about it though. Most don't care and post anything.
Just recently, on two different PCs, whenever I downlaod an APK from XDA-Developers, they are saved as .zip files (saved as "app.zip" instead of "app.apk"). Downloading from other sites works fine.
Is it something with the forums? or with my PCs?

Yes, the file can be unzipped & the contents are what would usually be in an apk file.
I just rename it to "app.apk" & it will work. Its just that it did not happen before, and now, on two PCs whenever I download an APK, I have to rename it first.
Apk in .zip
All APK's are just zip files in a format that Android understands and can un-zip almost like and be installed like a program. So, i think, you need to just change the .zip extension to .apk
The main question was that, previuosly downlaoded APK's from XDA were fine, now, they are saved as .zip. why?

Probably because its not illegal I guess... if you were to upload a paid app as an APK u could get in trouble whereas if its in a .zip file then its not considered an illegal file... if you get me... another possibility is that it just takes up less space hope this helps

Hi. I just found out that apk files are kept in the device after installation of the app.
I just recently downloaded a file explorer app and I found out that the apk files of the free games which I downloaded and installed from android market are kept in this folder:
/mnt/asec (I'm using Samsung Galaxy Ace)
There are individual folders for each game, and in each folder are a lib folder and the apk file. For example:
Fruit Ninja folder (which is found in mnt/asec folder) contains a lib folder and an apk file.
Fruit Slice folder (which is also found in mnt/asec folder) contains a lib folder and an apk file.
My question is, is it ok to delete these apk files? Will the games still work?
Also, can I send these apk files to someone else via bluetooth so they may download the apps without having to visit android market?
yeah you can delete the apk file after installing any app for it to still function, I do it all the time. Yes you can send the apk file to your friend so they can install it. If you're still cautious, try doing a trial run with one apk file...send it to your friend first, then delete, see if it works.
The .apk files are like setup files for windows. Once installed, you don't need the apk, especially if you are backing up with Titanium or similar backup program.
follow up question
Hi. Thanks guys.
Is everything from the android market ".apk"? Is it possible that some have a different extension? I downloaded a dictionary app, I can't be sure but I think it's a .zip file.
Thank you.
pakattack
I tried to delete the apk file. It cannot be deleted.
However, I copied it to my sd card, uninstalled the app, re-installed it using the one already in my sdcard, and it installed just fine.
I still want to be able to delete the apk file that is in the system though (/mnt/asec).
Any ideas or do I just have to deal with it?
