Sorry, guess i should have mentioned how to install.
Just copy the above boot file to the following location: NEEDS ROOT
/system/media
If you have a bootanimation.zip file there I would recommend renaming it to something else, then pasting the above file to that folder, reboot and watch the Apple logo get the golden showers

Thanks!!!

I assume this is HDPI only right? I know a friend that has an Android phone, I don't know if he rooted it, but if he did, I'll recommend him this.

sorry please forgive the n00biness of this post but how do you get to /system/media ? i assume you can't do it with the standard "connect to usb" then searching the device on your computer? I DO have root...
thanks

If your using a file manager app like astro file manager of root explorer. Open that and scroll down past the SDcard folder and below that you should see the folder "System". Select that then scroll down to Media. Select that and paste the boot animation to that folder.

I have never personally tried to make a boot animation myself. You can do a google search "how to create android bootanimation" that should give you some sites that can give you insight on how to create your own bootnaimation file. The 3D android urinating a friend sent me that one and I dont know if he made or found it.

My xperia is rooted but it will mot let me paste in the the systm/media folder.

If you are using Root Explorer did you select the "Mounted as r/w, r/o"?
You might have to select the grey box up top that says mount r/w and press it until it says Mount R/O, then it will let you paste. Try that and see if that helps.

usiing astro , when i try and copy it into system/media i get this message
copy error java.iofilenotfoundexcepion./system/media/apple/destroy-edify.zip*(read onlyfile system)
its getting on my nerves now

Or even better, use File Expert

If your phone is rooted "Root explorer" is the best file manager app I have ever used. It has a text editor/viewer(for xmls and build.prop) and it organizes files you zip or unzip nicely into folders. It isnt free though. Oh and most importantly it allows you to change permissions when dealing with system apps/files like the bootanimation.zip in system/media.
Edit** thought it over & I dont remember if you have to change permissions for bootanimation, but I did.
Ios suckkss.

Flashable boot animations?

Can someone post up some flashable boot animations for those that adb illiterate? I saw about 2 or 3 in the sticky but none that caught my interest. Think you guys can help me out?
This would be sweet. Hope somebody comes through
U dont need adb...use root explorer. That's what I do.
Dont wanna mess with ADB?
Download the boot animation file.
Rename to bootanimation.zip
Put on root of SD.
Open up Root Explorer, navigate to root of SD long press the bootanimation.zip file, and select move
Navigate to /system/customize/resource
Click Mount R/W
Click paste, and overwrite the existing file.
Reboot.
**NOTE: you may want to back up the existing boot animation first, in case you dont like the new one.
Sent from the bowels of my mind...
snap That's what I am talking about.
Yeah root explorer is just simply that awesome. It doesn't get any easier then using root explorer.
Its like drag and drop..

Love it, I have never replaced a bootscreen. But I think I will have to try for this one.
Okay, I'm stupid.
How do I flash this?
Is bootanimation.zip in this thread the original one?
Do i just flash it (install from sd card) in cwm recovery?

thanks. sorry.
You can also use root explorer. You don't even need a computer to do it. Just download the zip to your SD card, and copy it with a root explorer. Go into data>local as R/W paste, and then reboot.

thats the easiest way to do it. ill update the post
SO in root explorer you just go to /data/local... and just place the bootanimation.zip there.. Then unzip the android_audio.zip, grab the mp3 file and place it in the same place?

you are correct and than reboot and you will have the bootanimation with sound.
Mortal Kombat and Apple getting taken off the stage.. love it!
I cant believe more members havent thanked you
Working beautifully on my Inspire, thanks alot
can you use this to get sound on all the bootanimations.zip?
yes you can just place everything in the right folder.
Assuming we're running stock we just put it into System/Customize/Resource
Is this correct?
Also If we don't want sound I assume just don't put the file in?
EDIT: I got it successfully. "System/Customize/Resource" is the correct location if you're on Stock based rom's. It's pretty hilarious.
I got no sound. Should I to rename the android_audio.mp3 file? What about the permissions?
this is F***ing AWESOME!
I am getting no sound even with the mp3 in the local folder. Used root explorer, moved anime to local and cut mp3 over to local and both in the same folder and no sound. Rebooted twice just to make sure and no go. Hmmmm

[Bootanimation] Google Gears

Simple as that.
Goes for HTC EVO 3D too, as well as any 540×960 android phone.
Animation ported from "Google齿轮" MIUI theme.
Make it:
/system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip, or
/system/customize/resource/TMOUS_bootanimation.zip, if you have a T-Mobile Sensation, or
/system/customize/resource/VF_bootanimation.zip, if you have a Vodafone Sensation.
nice one.... thanks
Thanks a lot for this.
Just renamed the current bootanimation.zip file, copied this one into its place, rebooted and it's working fine.
Cheers!
Seems i can't copy the zip file to the system folder.
Got an error about "read only"!
What am i doing wrong?

Use es file explorer from market (better than astro imho). Put on root option and mount system as writable. Then you can rename original bootanimation.zip and place new as bootanimation.zip. if you don't like new one, delete bootanimation.zip and rename original to bootanimation.zip
M. Speksnijder
Thanks for the info m_speksnijder, with ES Explorer it works!
New bootscreen looks great!
I think I am going mad I have flashed 4.1.7 and cant seem to find where to put the boot amimation? I thought I would have to replace one that is already there? sorry if a stupid question but if you can help it would be great
I have something caled downanimation in system/customize/resource but that is the only zip file in there, do I just to copy this file to this directory and reboot?
EDIT its ok it is in data/local if anybody else needs the file location
cheers for a great boot animation

Using ES file explorer. Put on root? Do you mean root your device? If that case, I am rooted, and all that.
But I can't find System folder :S
Open ES, hit menu button, scroll down to "root options" section, turn on both options (root explorer and mount file system), exit menu, klik on the blue star on the left in de topbar and click on the "phone" icon. Then navigate to "system/customize/resource" or "data/local" (depends on the rom your using). than follow my earlier post. If you're done, turn of the option "mount file system" just to be sure you do not delete anything when scrolling around in your system partitions.

[Q] Changing boot animation screen on BAMF Forever 1.0.6

I want this..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010748&highlight=Bios+animation
Where is my boot animation located on my SD card?
Help appreciated!
It is under /system/media/bootanimation.zip
You won't find it on your SDcard. You'll need an app like Root Explorer to access the file system.
You could also use ADB to push the files there if you're familiar with ADB.
dont have that.. i replace the ones in Bamf_Extras.. but it didnt work
Are you familiar with ADB?
honestly, no. I one click rooted. what can I do?
can i push using clockwork recovery?

I believe there is a free alternative to Root Explorer in Super Manager. It contains File Explorer (Root). It may allow you to copy the bootanimation.zip and mp3 file into the directory. I also am unsure if it will let you set the correct permissions on the files once they are copied. It may be something you can try.
---------- Post added at 06:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:32 PM ----------
I went ahead and installed Super Manager. It will allow you to do what you need. You'll find the permissions button on the bottom menu bar if you scroll to the right.
You dont need any apps to do it for you, the bootanimation is in system/customize/resource folder you name it the name as the one in the folder and copy over it. Most if not all the developers name it bootanimation.zip the default Verizon is named VZW_bootanimation.zip I have helped people add sound to their boot animations as well this can be edited in the system/customize/CID folder in the file default. Must be edited with notepad++ or wordpad++ its one of those look near the bottom of the file for boot animation. I have become quite good at doing this by breaking it and fixing it. Things like this need to be learned the hard way.

The correct file path is for BAMF Forever 1.0.6 is system/media/bootanimation.zip
There is also an audio file that you can replace in the same location.
I edited my CID file so it where I want it to be. I am used to default setting. Also you can copy over audio but you still need to change desc file and CID so it starts with correct animation. Should I roll my eyes back? Plus I never even said anything about BAMF forever....

I was a noob once
Someone has already beaten me to to the punch. Lol. And since that is already done, there's no point in wasting more precious XDA space. It completely depends on the ROM you're using. I'm using OrDroid. And the bootanimation is placed in the /system/customize/resource/ folder with the name "hTC_bootup_sensation.zip" All I do is find another boot animation made for the Sensation or it's resolution, and replace it using ES File Explorer with the root access and "mount System as rw" options checked. This location is different for ARHD. I think it's in /system/media. Browse around and locate this file first. Then the rest is easy. Hope I helped!

you have to change the permissions on the folder the original bootanimation file is on to read/write. By default the directory is set to have only read permissions

You can also make your own boot animations ax it is fairly simple to put the animations together. The only real hard part is making your pictures and scaling them to the right scale. Here is a tool to make them with if you do not want to write the text file your self. But like I said it is not hard. P m me if you want some further details.
