[Bootanimation] Google Gears - HTC Sensation

Simple as that.
Goes for HTC EVO 3D too, as well as any 540×960 android phone.
Animation ported from "Google齿轮" MIUI theme.
Make it:
/system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip, or
/system/customize/resource/TMOUS_bootanimation.zip, if you have a T-Mobile Sensation, or
/system/customize/resource/VF_bootanimation.zip, if you have a Vodafone Sensation.

nice one.... thanks

Thanks a lot for this.
Just renamed the current bootanimation.zip file, copied this one into its place, rebooted and it's working fine.
Cheers!

Seems i can't copy the zip file to the system folder.
Got an error about "read only"!
What am i doing wrong?
(sorry about bad english, i'm dutch!)

permissions?

Yeah i think it has something to do with permissions but I don't know how I can change this.
Tried to Google it but couldn't find it.
Ps. Using ASTRO to copy the files.

Use es file explorer from market (better than astro imho). Put on root option and mount system as writable. Then you can rename original bootanimation.zip and place new as bootanimation.zip. if you don't like new one, delete bootanimation.zip and rename original to bootanimation.zip
M. Speksnijder

Thanks for the info m_speksnijder, with ES Explorer it works!
New bootscreen looks great!

I think I am going mad I have flashed 4.1.7 and cant seem to find where to put the boot amimation? I thought I would have to replace one that is already there? sorry if a stupid question but if you can help it would be great
I have something caled downanimation in system/customize/resource but that is the only zip file in there, do I just to copy this file to this directory and reboot?
EDIT its ok it is in data/local if anybody else needs the file location
cheers for a great boot animation

Using ES file explorer. Put on root? Do you mean root your device? If that case, I am rooted, and all that.
But I can't find System folder :S

Open ES, hit menu button, scroll down to "root options" section, turn on both options (root explorer and mount file system), exit menu, klik on the blue star on the left in de topbar and click on the "phone" icon. Then navigate to "system/customize/resource" or "data/local" (depends on the rom your using). than follow my earlier post. If you're done, turn of the option "mount file system" just to be sure you do not delete anything when scrolling around in your system partitions.

Thx! Now, just download bootanimation/downanimation and rename the new one? Then restart the device and all done?
And what happens if I accedentaly delete something when scrolling down?

Thanks works like a charm. I change permissions just in case.

Nice work...
I like it! Clean, simple... very nice.

Default at&t "rethink possible" boot animation

Hi,
Can anyone point me in the right direction.
I am looking for the default Inspire 4G at&t boot animation. Would like to put that on my Inspire.
I am currently running CM7 Gingerbread and I'm just not fond of that boot animation.
Thanks in advance.
Search in these threads. I have already posted it for someone else.
Edit: I actually found it quickly so here is the link.

Thanks for the reply.
I have actually downloaded yours and tried to flash it in CWM. It didn't work. Maybe because I'm on Gingerbread. Any suggestions?
It will not flash through CWM. You need to use a program such as Root Explorer to copy and paste it into the default location which is usually System/Customize/Resource.

I found big lou's guide and it worked.
Just used the command: adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local
You can change the bootanimation anytime you like. First, the file has to actually *be* a bootanimation. All you do is place the bootanimation.zip - it must read EXACTLY that way, bootanimation.zip - onto the root of your SD Card. That means, it shouldn't be in a folder or anything. Next using Root Explorer (make sure you have read/write ability (there's a button at the top of the display, when you first open Root Explorer which reads R/O. Push it once, and it changes to R/W, meaning that you have Read/Write permissions). Next go to the SD Card, find the bootanimation.zip that you placed there earlier and long-press on it. This brings up a menu with several choices, I always choose Copy. That copies the bootanimation, and you then back up one level to the first screen you saw, when you chose R/W. Scroll down a little until you find "data", and click on it to open it. Scroll down again until you come to a file called "local", and open it. There should be two or three things in view (a largely empty folder) and that is the place that you push the button saying "Paste". Once it pastes the bootanimation there, back out of Root Explorer, reboot your phone and you should now have your new bootanimation displaying.

It's laid out for you there actually. Granted it's a tad cryptic but:
-bootanimation.zip--->system/customize/resource or data/local depending on rom.
Basically, download the boot animation you want (has to be a zip file) and rename it to bootanimation.zip if it isn't already renamed. Plug in your phone and move the bootanimation.zip file you want over to your SD card. After you confirmed that your bootanimation.zip file is on your SD card, then unmount/remove the phone from your computer.
Then the easiest way is to use an app called root explorer where you can copy and paste files onto your phone. In your case depends on your rom but generally located on /system/customize/resource. Just use root explorer to see if the bootanimation.zip is located there and if it is,you can simply rename the file (ie bootanimation1bkup.zip) to have it as a back up if you want to revert back. Go to root explorer, copy the bootanimation.zip file and head over to where you found your 'old' bootanimation file and before hitting paste, make sure you click the r/o button so that it reads r/w. Then paste the file. Go back and tick the r/w button again and you can exit the phone. That should do it.
Did I forget anything?

[Q] How do I find the system/media folder on my Droid X?

My Droid X is rooted and I was wondering how I could change my Boot up Animation. I've read you have to copy and paste in the system/media folder to replace the old Boot Animation.zip but I can't find the system/media folder. I am running Gingerbread on my Droid. If anyone could help me solve this problem, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
You have to use root explorer from the market to access that directory on your phone... you can navigate to your SD card and copy the file then back to the root directory, in there there is a folder called system, then subfolfer media... in upper right corner is a button that says mount r/w change it to r/o and paste file, overwrite existing... all set
sent from my CM7 powered Droid X
Root Explorer is not the only file manager that can do this.
There are a number of root enabled file managers in the market. ES File Explorer, Super Manager, Jrummy's ROM Toolbox. Any number of others.
The point is that you do need a file manager that is 'root enabled' to access those system directories.

download ANY ROM and extract it. it is located in /system/app. Use rootexplorer to replace the file and reboot... done!
thanks but how exactly do i do that i found them in file exploer but did not know what to do from their
download any ROM to a PC,
extract the files,
hook ur phone up to the PC and drag them over to a storage area,
purchase rootexplorer from the market,
launch root explorer and grant root access,
use rootexplorer to locate the files in the storage area,
Once found do a long tap and select "copy",
go back to /system/app via RE and hit the little "mount r/w" radio button,
choose paste at the bottom...
when i try to open system app for the rom it gives me the option to oper with zip viewer apk handler text etc which one do i use
also when i press mount rw i dont see a paste option

And u wont until u have the file to copy/replace the one in system/app like the Guy above said u can use root explorer EXTRACT the rom then go to the extracted folder it will ask u to do so. Navigate to the system/app copy whatever files u need and paste them into the system app folder of ur phone and reboot
And ur done

wow thanks guys one last noob question, where is the thank you buttom
never mind found it
Sorry when i paste the apk into system/ app then reboot it dosnt work so when i try long pressing then install it says problem parshing package
I never had much luck extracting on the device which is why I say do it on a PC. Drop the APKs on your desktop and then transfer them to your device. The use RE to copy/paste them in /system/app.
i downloaded the apk mms and tw launcher from a previous post and it still didnt work
when i paste the in system app it shows the name but no icon and they just stay at the top also when i reboot their is no change
and you are using rootexplorer, not some other program? at the top does it say "mount r/w" or "mount r/o"?
i press the button so it says rw then the other option comes up. when i paste the apk it shows up but no icon and when i reboot nothing.
im in rw mode when i paste mms.apk it shows up at the top but it dosnt have the icon then when i reboot no changes are made

Sorry, guess i should have mentioned how to install.
Just copy the above boot file to the following location: NEEDS ROOT
/system/media
If you have a bootanimation.zip file there I would recommend renaming it to something else, then pasting the above file to that folder, reboot and watch the Apple logo get the golden showers
Thanks!!!
I assume this is HDPI only right? I know a friend that has an Android phone, I don't know if he rooted it, but if he did, I'll recommend him this.

sorry please forgive the n00biness of this post but how do you get to /system/media ? i assume you can't do it with the standard "connect to usb" then searching the device on your computer? I DO have root...
thanks
If your using a file manager app like astro file manager of root explorer. Open that and scroll down past the SDcard folder and below that you should see the folder "System". Select that then scroll down to Media. Select that and paste the boot animation to that folder.

I have never personally tried to make a boot animation myself. You can do a google search "how to create android bootanimation" that should give you some sites that can give you insight on how to create your own bootnaimation file. The 3D android urinating a friend sent me that one and I dont know if he made or found it.

If you are using Root Explorer did you select the "Mounted as r/w, r/o"?
You might have to select the grey box up top that says mount r/w and press it until it says Mount R/O, then it will let you paste. Try that and see if that helps.

Or even better, use File Expert
If your phone is rooted "Root explorer" is the best file manager app I have ever used. It has a text editor/viewer(for xmls and build.prop) and it organizes files you zip or unzip nicely into folders. It isnt free though. Oh and most importantly it allows you to change permissions when dealing with system apps/files like the bootanimation.zip in system/media.
Edit** thought it over & I dont remember if you have to change permissions for bootanimation, but I did.
Ios suckkss.
