Okay, right now I am running Insertcoin 3.4.6 (Gingerbread 2.3.5) and the first ICS RUU leak. Is there any point of me to flash the latest RUU (leaked yesterday?) since I am running GB? Will it affect the performance negative or positive?
And just to throw another question in, should I flash a new RIL too when I update the firmware, or is it updated automaticly?
Thanks

Hi,
The best radio is the one that works.
If it's working fine at the moment, then leave it alone.
If you intend to install ICS 4.0.3,then you WILL need the latest firmware and radio.

i searched a bit but couldnt find a clear answer.. I read somewhere that when a dev posts a stock rooted rom based off an ota that it might not contain all the chipset and firmware updates that a ruu has.. just wondering what the main difference is between a ruu and an ota (other than obviously it comes over the air) and if its better to flash a ruu and root it rather than a pre rooted rom based on ota..
If I am correct it's that ruu is standalone full rom. Where ota is a addon for the 2.3.3 ROM.

thanks, but do you know if when a dev posts a stock rooted rom based on an ota if it contains all the upgrades and benefits that a ruu would

Most of them are based on the OTA as it was available before the ruu. I don't know if there is any difference between the quality.
anyone have any input? i was looking in insertcoin rom OP and noticed that the dev flashed the ruu and then wiped and flashed his own rom and now its faster
He re-did the ROM based on the full RUU as opposed to a patched 1.35 ROM with the OTA file applied. It's cleaner and should be better as a result
thank you, ok so if i just want to go back to stock would i be better off flashing the tmo us 2.3.4 ruu when its available or installing one of the 2.3.4 stock rooted roms that came out after the ota since they are based on the ota?
I'd flash the 1.29.531.2 RUU, then get the OTA files when presented with them
Somebody has already tryed to flash a Gingerbread Stock RUU on a ICS ROM with news 3.24.401.1 firmware???

Since updating to 3.24.401.1 firmware, I can no longer boot into MIUI 2.1.20 (a GB ROM).
new 3.24 only works for ICS, its not backwards compatible with other ROMS
3.12 firmware is though
I Need some help.. I'm a bit confused. I Want to try 3.24 firmware based ROMS, but i see i need to upgrade firmware. My question is, can i run GB ROMS on that firmware version?
Thanks!
nope, you can't run GB on that firmware, you'll have to revert back to your old hboot/firmware to run GB again. I was skeptical at first, but couldn't resist. Decided to try ICS, no regrets so far! GB? Hell no, not going back!
Not only can you not run GB roms, but you can't run ICS roms based on the 3.12 firmware. You can always reflash your firmware and downgrade if things don't work out, though.
Hmm.. thanks for answers. I recently became a fan of MIUI (was using 3
.12 ICS Sense before), but Sense 3.6 and the reports that its even more smooth makes me want to try it.

That 3.24 firmware apparently causes some problems with one of the Sensation LCD panels and makes it have a blue tint.
And you can do some 3.24 ROMS on 3.12.
Virtuous Quattro is 3.24 based and I'm running it just fine on 3.12.
Can i flash rom which is optimized for 3.24 on phone with 3.30 firmware?

i think yes cause it is not necessary to upgrade to 3.30 to install roms based on it...so try it out in case you will get reboots
I am playing with newest arhd and insertcoin which use 3.30. But if i want to try for ex. Virtuous Inquisition v3.5.0 which is requesting 3.24, will there be some problems?

well i think you can use it even with the latest firmware but i am not sure because i haven't tried this yet...try it out and you will see
VI 3.5.0 is working fine on 3.30fw I've just flashed new firmware and everything is just fine!
Thanx. I will give it a try later...
For a long time I was running MIUI 2.2.24 and recently installed MIUI v4 with 3.33 Firmware, and honestly I dont' care for it. The rom is fine but battery life is horrible. MIUI 2.2.24 would go 2 days on a battery; v4 goes 8-10 hrs.
I'd like to reflash 2.2.24 from a Nandroid backup but I cant seem to locate the firmware that was installed. The 2.2.24 ROM thread says you must have BELOW 3.12 to install.
The firmwares I have are; 3.12 an ABOVE, and 1.17, which is reeeellly old.
Can someone point me to the last known GB firmware?
I take that back... I think 1.17 is your only option. Btw, can you upload miui 2.2.24 somewhere? I gots to check out this epic battery life.

I have 1.17.
My question is; is this the latest firmware that is GB compatible? I wanna say before I flashed MIUI v4 I had something below 3.12 (other than 1.17)

Got it,
flashed 1.17 then restored from backup. All is good again. 5.5 hrs @ 96% battery. That's more like it!
Are you really interested in 2.2.24? If so I can upload it to mediafire tonight when i get home.
