I Need some help.. I'm a bit confused. I Want to try 3.24 firmware based ROMS, but i see i need to upgrade firmware. My question is, can i run GB ROMS on that firmware version?
Thanks!
nope, you can't run GB on that firmware, you'll have to revert back to your old hboot/firmware to run GB again. I was skeptical at first, but couldn't resist. Decided to try ICS, no regrets so far! GB? Hell no, not going back!
Not only can you not run GB roms, but you can't run ICS roms based on the 3.12 firmware. You can always reflash your firmware and downgrade if things don't work out, though.
Hmm.. thanks for answers. I recently became a fan of MIUI (was using 3
.12 ICS Sense before), but Sense 3.6 and the reports that its even more smooth makes me want to try it.

That 3.24 firmware apparently causes some problems with one of the Sensation LCD panels and makes it have a blue tint.
And you can do some 3.24 ROMS on 3.12.
Virtuous Quattro is 3.24 based and I'm running it just fine on 3.12.

Hi All,
I am looking to jump into ICS and am wondering how stable is the lastest 3.24 version or 3.25 vers RUU from HTC?
Can I run the 3.25 LE version on a standard Sensation (non-XE)?
What bugs have been discovered so far?
I dont want to go to a modded version yet, just looking at the original RUUs.
Yes, I have S-Off, unlocked boot etc.
Cheers
Trev.
I am running Android Revolution HD 6.2.1 XE on my TMO US Sensation. Its worked exceptionally well, and I think it is more than stable enough for daily use.

if you choose to try it out, make sure you use the XE version, as the Reg version's browser has some weird flicker going on (they patched the XE one already)

Yes you could Trev.
However do keep in mind that 3.25 ver RUU only only supports Sense 3.6 And above ROMs. Some say even 4.0.3 ASOP roms are not supported.
For bug wise, I don't remember there being bugs in any RUU firmware packages.
As for the above mentioned ARHD 6.2.1,
If you install the Radio, Firmware, Super Wipe & the ROM correctly,
I can guarantee you that it will be smooth like butter.
However I AM facing a particular bug which is me being unable to connect to any other WiFi Spots other than my WiFi Spot that I have used in the first Boot
Configuration. And also, the WiFi Hotspot problem, which can be solved using the Barnacle WiFi Tether From the Android Market.
Cheers
I am having some trouble with the LCD backlight on my Sensation running Virtuous Quattro A3.
To start with i tried running the ROM on 3.24 firmware but i was having some stability issues regarding reboots, so following some advice on the forums I flashed 3.12 firmware along with sebastianFM's 3.0.13 non XE 1.5 GHz kernal.
i am no longer getting the reboots that i had before yet i have found a strange bug where it doesn't matter if I use auto-brightness or set it myself the LCD backlight keeps flickering!
I have tried searching on the forums but the only thing that i could find to do with the backlight was for the buttons and that was in the ROM thread.
any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks Jon
This sounds hardware related, though it's not guaranteed to be.
I would think it's it's hardware related you'd see the problem no matter what you were doing with the phone. Try booting into recovery and just hang out there for a while and see if you're getting the same problem.
If you are, it's a hardware problem.
If you're not, try switching to a different ROM and see what happens.
Or, just switch to a new install of Quattro. Just be sure to do a full wipe before installing a clean version of the ROM and Kernel.
Quattro is design to run on the 3.24 firmware. But I can personally confirm it works on 3.12. However, that doesn't mean that being on the wrong firmware isn't causing your problems too.
Here is how I fix my issue.
1)Pull down the notification bar.
2)Click on little dials button (it is quick settings to your screen brightness, WIFI, Bluetooth)
3)Turn on the Autobrightness, and then turn it off.
Now you should have some lights back.
Thanks for the help guys, I thought I would try doing a fresh install as you suggested, the issue still persisted.
I am pretty sure that it's not hardware as I have been fine on other roms.
I have updated to the latest 3.24 firmware do I am now on HBOOT 1.27.11 unlocked and then just flashed quattro again without the kernel this time and touch wood... I am going strong.
If I have any more difficulties I won't hesitate to ask

I also had the same issue, turn off auto brightness and set to 40%-60%.
Do I have to run 3.24.401 firmware to use virtuous quattro and if so can I go back to a gingerbread Tom using that firmware? Wish there was a better installation guide for virtuous quattro.

Virtuous Quattro Alpha 3 runs on both 3.12 and 3.24 firmwares, but 3.24 is recommended. GB ROMs run on firmwares with version 3.12 and below. GB ROMs will not boot on 3.24 firmware.
However, you can flash 3.24 for latest ICS ROMs and then go back to 3.12 for GB ones. So you'll always be able to go back to GB ROMs after ICS.
Thanks for the info.

My hboot says 1.17. What hboot do I need to run virtuous quattro alpha 3 and how do I change my hboot?

Or does it change my hboot when I flash the new firmware? I'm kinda new at this. Any help is appreciated. I just want the right firmware and hboot to run virtuous quattro.

Two questions...
1. Are there any differences between running firmware 3.12 or 3.24 for an ics rom?
Up to this point, I've been staying on 3.12 to allow me to downgrade to gingerbread easily. But i'm wondering if there are advantages to using the 3.24 firmware?
2. Anyone notice that ics has higher latency? With my gingerbread roms i'm somewhere in the neighborhood of 45ms using the speedtest app. My pings around 110ms with the various ics roms out there.
thanks.
3.24 fixes random reboots in many ics roms among other speed improvements
With 3.24 you can also use adb commands.
3.24 is also better because it's a "newer improved" version....
v3.12 is only for sense 3.5 based ROM. Compatible with GB as well as ICS.
V3.24 is only for ICS ( sense 3.5 as well as 3.6 and probably sense 4.0)

I have noticed the higher latency for sure. I was around 85ms and now around 160ms, or higher. This needs to get fixed. Everyone seems to be overlooking it.
If going to ics roms use 3.24 revolutionary

When the OTA update for ICS drops, will there be a way to root and S-OFF with Revolutionary like there is for Gingerbread? Or will flashing the currently available firmwares be necessary? I'm not sure how the update process will work, as far as these things. I guess my question is: How would I root and S-OFF when ICS drops for Sensation 4g users? Thanks in advance.
Prob not right away.
Remember if you do choose to recieve the stock ics ota that you need to flash the stock recovery or you will end with a brick. Someone please correct me if i am wrong.
But with upgraded FW 3.30 and roms such as virtuous and ARHD ICS theres really no need to update to the official ics. I do understand if you want the official ics though.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, I've been trying to decide whether to go back to full stock (S-ON, etc.) and go the OTA way or just do it with the user-friendly firmwares, but I'm pretty hesitant to do the latter because of the chance of bricking. How likely is the chance of a mistake somehow being made, even if the appropriate steps are taken? I mean, I've seen all these threads with people seemingly doing it right but still ending up with bootloops, so I'm quite apprehensive about the whole thing.
Edit: Also, is the final ICS firmware backwards compatible with Gingerbread ROMs, by any chance?
Na. Ics has to run on 3.24 fw and up

You shouldn't end up with a brick if you don't have the stock recovery. I had the real stock experience Rom android 2.3.3 and when I did the software search it found the android 2.3.4 update. I downloaded it but all it says is you have made modifications to your phone...the update won't work.
Also. There is currently NO information whatsoever if revolutionary will update, and if it will support the sensation at all. If it did though I could fix my phone. Personally I'd go for the newest arhd although I can't. It's better than the official will be, I'm guessing that after a week or two sense will start to crash again. No matter what HTC have said.
I did the same as Sensation Lover. Coming from a stock 2.3.4, S-OFF and rooted. After the update completed it just stuck at the HTC splash screen upon reboot.
I just ended up reflashing the 1.50 TMO RUU and then did the update. I was S-OFF before the update via HTC Dev and that stayed.
If you are soff dont go back to son for the update. Like others have already said. You can flash the stock recovery then just use ota with soff. If you decide you want to root it'll be pretty simple

Well yeah, i wanted to go back to what arhd is ( pretty much default sensation) but with tweaks to make it better. I flashed arhd 4.1.13 fully, said no to the t-mobile us, said yes to 1.5ghz and not 1.7ghz, yes to sony bravia support and yes to o/c daemon. But when i pressed reboot it just stayed at the htc screen for 40 minutes and so i tried to flash it again with full battery and it did the same. Any options????
I think you probobly have the wrong firmware. Where you using ICS before? If so just flash a stock ruu or an old hboot to be able to flash GB ROMS
