[GAME][2.2+] Help test scrolling space shooter (Space Squad) - Android Apps and Games

Hi,
I'm looking for people to test my first Android game Space Squad. It took about 2 months to make and should be an enjoyable experience. I've tried to expand on the current (stale?) recipy by having the user control a wing of 4 small ships instead of 1. They fly information but can be divided with multi-touch. When some ships die reinforcements warp in to replace them (until theres no more reinforcements that is).
I've also put in some other improvements on standard recipy:
- More exciting enemy behaviour
- Boss run mode where you only fight the level bosses
- Customisation options for your squad e.g. each ship starts with a shield / ships have a repulsor that pushes incoming objects away etc.
I wrote it in libgdx and would be happy to discus the engineering approach used with anyone who is interested. I also would be happy to co-develop with anyone if they wanted to expand it with me.
Note that the package name is DungeonCrawl, I should probably have renamed that when I decided to develop a shooter >< hope that won't cause problems later with updates/etc.
Edit: Have added attachement with the apk file on it for convenience.

i would likt to try this. I have many diff devices to test it on!

Awesome, it's on the app store com.DungeonCrawl or search for "space squad"
Let me know what you think. I'm particularly interested in the lower powered devices. If it runs slowly/ badly on midrange phones e.g. galaxy ace, I could add some options such as remove clouds/background.
Edit: have added the apk file to the original post too.

[Game] Game Dev Story !!!

Hi,
I just want you to take a look at this game.
In this game you have your own game company. You have to develop games (you say which genre, type and name).
The graphics.... Okay forget the graphics, however, this is a great game!!!
The app costs 2 Yang (or what ever), but in the market is a lite version.
BE WARNED: It's a highly addictive game!!!
I played this game for a solid 8 hours straight one night on my iPhone. Glad to see an Android version now!
Yeah the game is super awesome.
yeah.. gets boring after a week
It's a cool game for a day or too, then gets too repetitive. Still I play it from time to time. If they add more features that would give the game a better replay value.
Highly addictive and unique gameplay I would say but it gets boring after the first cycle.

I never got to make my own console tho could never find an engineer.
The game kinda got really easy after a while

To get a engineer you have to max out one person in all the different jobs, level wise.
This one is really a good game!!
I play this for a week and really love this!!!

The pixel art actually adds to the charm of the game. Gameplay is hardly low quality.

I developed 3 consoles and many games...
now I'm just waiting to get a billionaire
This game is awesome. Love the 8-bit graphics! I've developed 3 consoles now, and i got over 2 billion dollars in the bank.
I was hooked on the demo so bought the full game for my wildfire.
The full app doesnt work properly - I cannot see the top bit of the screen (ie the amount of money I have, yet the demo doesnt have this issue).
Any ideas guys?

Thanks for idea - but without onscreen joypad it covers research points by half, with joypad its slightly better...
Full-version bug reports:
1. Amount deducted for payroll is off by a factor of 10. (The popup says 1100 will be deducted, then only 110 is..) I think it might be off in one or two other places like this, too.
2. Something new I did recently output the term "null" at the beginning of a line of text in the popup. I think it was using the Bug Spray when I didn't have very many bugs, but I don't remember for sure.
'Tis quite a great game, though I do have a question:
When a game goes on the market, and the blue bars show up, what does that area mean? Each bar is a week, I get that, but what is the relative height - sales? Then what's the green box overlayed on it?

Got 2 more:
3) When allocating points to a new game, if the number of "free" points goes above 9, there's an extra 1 prepended to the number (so 10 becomes 110, etc)
4) The cost to move to a new place is another off-by-ten: The popup asked me if I wanted to pay 25,000 to move to a new studio, but I only had 7,000. Taking a guess, I selected yes, and the move only cost me 2,500.
And another: "Congratulations! <Game> has sold 500k units!" when the actual number in the status bar is 5,000k. All the congratulations messages of this type are the actual number divided by 10.
This game ROCKS!!!!! Highly addictive.
Although I lost my autosave after 24 years due to my 4 year old son not knowing what he was doing. :-S
So have started a fresh game. :-D

I get the feeling we are being drawn into it and then asked for cash. Looks like a nice game on the TF screen. I had assumed this was a multiplayer online game to start off with. Feels a bit like Dark Prophecy.

SPACE ADVENTURE WITHOUT RISK
The current reference title in the Sci-Fi genre is available free to download from the Tegra™ Zone app on the Android Market and can be played for unlimited time offering full functionality within the first solar system. To access the whole galaxy with over 20 solar systems and to complete the six to ten hours, fully voice acted storyline, you have to unlock the game via in-app purchase for $ 14.99 / € 11,99 / £ 8.99.
Edit: Updated OP post for "1 solar"
Is it me or does it run kinda bad? (medium details).
I'm running the game on the highest settings and it plays perfectly. Played for about an hour and really like it. Will consider getting the full game if it continues to be compelling.

Im getting huge framedrops on high , even on medium. 3.1 Stock
Everything stock and running it on High. Very smooth and I'm very impressed. It is rather pricey though.

+1 stock here and nice and smooth on high settings
Good looking game and like above running fine on high (I'm @ 1.6Ghz tho) - At work so haven't had a proper play but will do over the weekend.
Wow, thanks for posting. Maybe making a sticky/corner for quality apps that are free?
Hello,
I've installed it too on a stock "non-overclocked" TF.
It works very nice in full details.
I also tried it some weeks ago on an iPad.
Graphics were quite "old-fashioned" on the iPad.
I'm pretty impressed to see bumped textures, etc...
Great.
done ....was waiting for it
damn, what makes this worth $5 more than the ipad version?

I guess i am done with the free part. I play on all high on g2x. runs perfect. but how do i get back in the first solar system?
I think it's awesome, and I don't think the price is unfair considering I would pay a quid or 2 for games normally, whereas this has awesome graphics and a lot of gameplay and clearly would have taken a lot more time/money to develop than the average game. As such I'm gonna pay for it, it's my kind of game
Just to warn people though, if you want to try it out for a decent amount of time then just do freelance missions and stuff, it turns out that if you follow the story mode then you end up in another solar system pretty soon and you can't get back to the first (which you can play for free), then you can't do anything unless you pay.
anyone have trouble launching the game I finished downloading the assests on my eeepad and now i just get a black screen when i launch
EDIT: Uninstall and deleted SD Card game assets and reinstall fixed my problem.

Drag Racing

I came across this game in the market and its so much fun I thought I'd bring it to everyone's attention. I am not affiliated with the game or the developer in any way. This thread is to share tips, tricks, upgrades and tunes for vehicles (if you choose) or just general info. Below is a description, see you on the track!
The most addictive drag racing game with realistic controls and 40+ cars!
The most addictive drag racing game with realistic controls, updated regularly with new features, adding 100k new players every day!
- Drive 40+ cars from Integra to Evo to Veyron SS
- Buy performance upgrades and tune your car
- Challenge other racers online!
WANT MORE? See "coming soon" section below. We're working on more cool stuff 24/7!
HAVE QUESTIONS? See our website link below for Drag Racing FAQ.
PROBLEMS SHIFTING after last update? Settings -> Multitouch -> ON
*** TIPS:
1. Racing
- Blue/green lights on dashboard will help you launch and shift at the right time
- If there is too much wheelspin, you are not going anywhere
- Once you learn how to drive properly, ignore the lights and find your own winning strategy
- Nitrous is more effective on underpowered cars with lots of grip. Timing is crucial!
2. Cars and upgrades
- Test drive before you buy a car!
- The more your car costs, the tougher opposition you'll face both offline and online
- Upgrades count towards increasing car cost/level, while tuning doesn't
- Keep your car cost just under your level cap to get an advantage
- Adjusting gear ratios (Garage -> Upgrade -> Tune) is costly, but lets you achieve times that are impossible on stock settings
3. Game modes and winnings
- Race against beginner/amateur AI to get some quick cash and build your car
- Defeat bosses and unlock achievements for extra RP
- Go online and race against others to earn maximum cash/RP
- If your car isn't ready for online races, earn some cash in "Drivers Battle"
- For the ultimate challenge, race against top players in Pro League
4. Misc
- Join facebook.com/DragRacingGame for news and strategy
- Try playing with vibration on (enable it in the "Settings" menu)!
*** COMING SOON:
- New cars! (...and bikes at some point, but shhhhh
- More car customization
- Friend races (next week)
- More game modes, ratings and leaderboards
- If Pro League isn't working for you, contact support - we'll work with you to resolve the issue.
*Edit* Here's the android market link: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.creativemobile.DragRacing&feature=search_result
I don't see it in the market nor did you link to anything... sounds fun.
I added market link at the bottom of the OP, my bad. Also if you just type "drag" in the market search it will come up.
This is one of my most favorite games in the market. Is there anyway you could post some tips about what settings you should modify in the tuning section. I've raced people who have modified their timing it makes the vehicle go some much faster. For those who cant find it, its under dragracing one word I believe but the op is right this game is awesome.
This game is crazy fun! Currently on the lvl 9 boss on the 1/2 mile.
I haven't been successful with gear ratio adjustments. But skipping gears during heavy wheelspin helps a ton.

Level 2 S2000 1/4 specs
Upgrades:
Engine - 1
Turbo - 1
NO2 - 3
Cold Air - 1
Weight - 5
Tires - 5
Tune Spec:
Nitrous - 4.25s @ 71%
Final - 3.812
1st - 4.000
2nd - 3.170
3rd - 1.850
4th - 1.550
5th - 1.300
6th - 1.090
7th - none
Tips:
Go into settings of the game and make sure multi touch is on. To ensure a perfect start hold finger on the gas icon then, without lifting your finger off the screen slide it to the shifter. When the flag drops you will automatically shift into 2nd. Hit the shift button to shift into 3rd AND the nitrous button at the same time then try to perfect shift through the rest of the gears.
If this helps let me know!
That is the same method I use for takeoffs with heavy wheelspin. It works crazy good on really high HP cars.
I love this game. Been playing since I got my G2x back in May.
That build can get you an 11.090 buy I commonly see poeple with s2000 getting 10.700.

Three 10th's of a second is all about shifting. Some cars do better if you shift early or later. It alllll depends

Hmm interesting..got my attention again knowing it races agaisnt actual people

The online races are actual recorded runs of other online members but not actual "live" runs, the app will actually tell you that...
On another note this app is killer but I have the last car on level 8, venom gt with full mods and now its lame, same races, same prizes, nothing else to do? I hope they add better cars and bikes would be cool I guess..

[Q] Old Amiga games?

It saddens me greatly that some of the classics are not represented on Android in any way (that I can see). Here are three of my favorites that would work well on a mobile device.
1. Mind Walker. Arguably the first Amiga 1000 game, arguably the first 16-bit game. There are other contenders, but this one has a pretty legit claim. And the gameplay was pretty unique. The randomly generated map is supposed to be a person's mind. Each screen of the map is a 5x5 grid, with each tile supporting a pyramid, a crystal, or one of the four character types. Standing under the pyramid changed your character, and you had to make a path from one crystal to another to get to the next stage, and it just got weirder from there.
2. Zak McKracken. One of the better SCUMM games, but ScummVM for Android doesn't support it. Point and click adventure.
3. Marble Madness. Why hasn't this been done already? The most popular of the bunch here, it was ported on the NES and a couple other systems. The whole thing could be done with a tilt sensor. After the first couple levels, it got hard, quick, but mostly due to the "Simon says" controls, you were never really in control of the ball. It only had 6 levels, I think, maybe 7, possibly 8. Fewer than 10. But it wouldn't be hard to add them, since it was limited by disk space back in the day.
thanks for sharing looking forward to next update

Why not just download the amiga emulator free on google play store and then download the roms of the games you like? Emulator is called 'UAE4Droid'.
Didn't know it existed, thanks. Looks like it's still in development. It basically works but doesn't run anything. Mouse input is completely off, just broken all over. Emulating a computer on a phone is a fundamentally bad idea, though. The games would have to be individually reimagined as touch screen games.

Dynamite Jack - Optimised (Mostly)

Hi guys,
Haven't posted in a while and just thought I'd let you know that Dynamite Jack works with the Play's hardware. The D-Pad works from the off but you you have to configure the buttons to use your flashlight, bombs and mini-map. This is easily done by going into the 'Settings' parameter and selecting the 'Keys' tab were you can make the changes. During navigation you can use the D-pad to scroll but still need to touch to select but in-game you have complete control! Just switch the control option to 'Line-Drawing' (again in 'Settings' under the 'Controls' tab) to free the screen of buttons and you're off!
Oh and the game is part of the latest Humble Bundle. Have fun!
Im enjoying this game too, reminds me of Red Faction with the destructible environments and the oppressed miners story.
