[req] Downgrade from ICS to stock 2.3 Fastboot - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm having some issues with ICS and I would like to revert to stock as simply as possible. Where can I find the stock .img files for a 2.3 release for fastboot? Searched for like an hour. I don't want any root whatsoever. Any build of 2.3 is fine. Just need stock imgs

Guide all you do is flash the backup in clockwork

I do not have clockwork

You don't require CWM with the stock rom. Works with Stock recovery. Rename zip file to update.zip and use apply sdcard update.zip option. Assuming you are using T-Mobile's Nexus S I9020T.
Android 2.3.6/GRK39F/XXKF1 Radio/KA3 Bootloader

I guess you need clockwork which you can flash via fastboot.
because if you are coming from ICS to GB then..the recovery ICS does not display properly so to be safe u need to fastboot flash recovery (CWM recovery would do)
and then flash the zip

[Q] Dumping Boot.img

Last night, after losing 5 hours trying to root my stock Brazilian MZ605 (wifi + 3G, H.6.3-28.6), I had to flash the stock firmware because after rooting neither the wifi or 3G wouldn't work.
I guess it is because I flashed a boot.img that is incompatible with my wifi drivers (bcm4329.ko). Everything else was fine.
So I was thinking: what if I can dump my own boot.img, set ro.secure=0 on it and then flash it back to acquire root?
So, my question is this: how can I dump my own boot.img?
Other than root, I want to keep my Xoom as stock as possible.
You will need the Clockwork Mod Recovery installed it will allow you to create a backup of your existing ROM.
Look here for instructions:

Thanks, Sniperet.
Supposing I install CWM Recovery, can I go back to my stock Recovery image using the IMG files downloaded from Motorola?

Getting back 8.6.5.21 after root attempt

Is it possible to get my hands on a stock 8.6.5.21 after trying to root with Razorclaw? This root involved using a 8.6.6.19 fw, but not it's slow as... :S
I'd rather not lose my data, if possible.
Cheers!
Hey if your ClockworkMod is working fine then download the 8.6.5.21 from the main Asus website nd put it on your external sd and go into clockwork recovery then go into install zip and install it
Thanks! Now I need to install clockworkmod
I had a similiar question, are the updates available from the ASUS website full ROM's or incrimental updates to the prevoiusly released FOTA versions?
Can they all be flashed via CWM to over-write an existing ROM? Regardless of the current version of the firmware on the phone(assuming a data/cache wipe to be safe)?
Do they overwrite the recovery partition or do you need a copy of the asus recovery to flash back to stock recovery?

There is an app called RecoveryInstaller.apk ~~ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346180 ... IF YOU ARE ROOTED, then you can use this app and it'll install Clockworkmod for you.

The ASUS website ROM's are full ROM's. You can flash the stock ROM with the clockworkmod, however you won't be able to update unless you flash back to stock Clockwork. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1154947 click that link to download the stock clockwork.

and i have a question can i install a rom with a stock recovery
You'll need a custom recovery to install a ROM. Follow these instructions and you'll be good to go:

Delete or rename /system/etc/install-recovery.sh and flash CWM one last time. It'll stick. Each boot, stock ROMs reflash the stock recovery unless you delete/rename that file.

[Q] [i815] CWM flashable version of the latest stock Verizon ROM with root?

I have an Verizon GT7.7 [i815] and would like to go back to the stock ROM, but I'd like to keep root and Clockwork recovery. I would also like to just flash the stock version via Clockwork recovery. Is there a copy of the latest stock ROM that is flashable with CW?

Thank you very much! Lots of good files there!!! :good:

Stock ROM INT2EXT4

Can the INT2EXT4 script work with the stock ROM 2.3.5?
Also I need a link to download that ROM or the latest, I need the 'img' files to flash them from Linux, I don't have Windows to run the RUU exe file.
Currently I have the CWM and CM10.1, so flashing system.img only is enough or do I have to flash radio, recovery and boot images too?
Thanks.

cronmod needs to work with cyano, I don't know the technical info but it is impossible with the stock rom. I guess you need all the files for the ROM but I can't provide them since my internet is too slow.
