Hi Ruler1976,
Did you get your phone from Cellular One? If so, I would recommend leaving the baseband they provided on the phone. I'm on T-Mobile and I've jumped between a couple different basebands I found in the forums for the XT720 and they've really made no difference in coverage or signal strength. Just my $0.02.
I didn't even know Cellular One was offering the XT720 until your post.

I haven't seen a Cellular One XT720 sbf/nandroid so I don't know
Do you have a nandroid of the original system.img?
yes : post/send to me (best)
no: Have you flashed a sbf?
yes : shucks (hopefully another Cingular One user's lurking)
no : Make nandroid of cust and post/send to me (possibly good enough)

Yes I got it from cell one it had a ultimobile froyo mod on it and it was rooted but it was super laggy I posted this when I was having problems with my internet and mms but it was an apn problem I got it fixed now so I have never changed the basebands I thought that they got changed with the rom and had to change it to get my internet working forgive me I'm a noob this is my first android but I'm loving it my wife hates it this thing gets me in more trouble cuz I'm always playing with it I guess she is just jelous

Really? Thanks for the info! Btw i have a ques. Im on 2.1 now. So do i just flash the uk 3.4.2 sbf to get 2.2 android on my phone? Thanks!
Sent from my MB525 using XDA App
You can flash a 3.4.2 sbf but then you loose the option to go back to stock rom. If you don't want that then you better get root accesss and flash a 2.2 nand backup from this site with clockworkmod recovery. Just search for all the necessary information.
Thanks agentsmith for the clear instructions. Im already rooted and ive installed clockworkmod recovery. Will flash 2.2 when im free, btw, whats the fastest 2.2 rom? Isit the uk 3.4.2?

We have 2G/3G fixes for that issue. My Asian Defy now works great with a custom rom thanks to the Chinese fix.
These are the radio specs of the Chinese built Defy:
WCDMA: 850/2100 HSDPA 7.2 Mbps;
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 GPRS;
Edge Class 12

Strange, I have the XXKB3, but with GRI40...
I installed this nandroid backup provided here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884093
The Nexus S is now stock and unrooted. But my baseband version is still: I9020XXKB3
What is the original baseband version for android version 2.3.1, build number GRH78 and how can I go back to it?
not sure why you want XXJK8.. XXKB3 has the best performance for most people but whatever here it is.
http://www.mediafire.com/?083o9f698mjzlkh extract to tools folder then fastboot flash radio radio.img using adb
Thanks
It is just that I wanted the nexus S to be completely stock. I dont know if I would receive OTA updates from google if I had baseband XXKB3? And I think the baseband XXKB3 is for the european version of Nexus S?

GRI54 is European. CM7 follows American.
So pretty much KB3 is a European radio, but they both work the same. Whatever is the best for you, use it. It's not a big deal.
This radio thing is getting confusing. I am in Asia which I think follows Europe more closely compared to US. But my Nexus is from bestbuy. I should be using the europe radio then?

I really don't think there's a difference between Europeans and Americans radio. The Nexus S works in predetermined frequencies for GSM (850/900/1800/1900) and HSPA (900/1700/2100) and that's it. So no matter where are you if your carrier support those frequencies the phone is gonna work. If it don't than you gonna have problems, probably you won't be able to use 3g per example.
Besides all this stuff is regulated and follows same patterns to ensure compatibility betweens networks so the same phone can work in several caries. That's the whole point about most phone are quad-band for GSM (more frequencies so it's more likely it will make calls) and tri-band for HSPA.

In another post, I wiped and installed 2.3.4 grj06d last night and am going to try it for a while to see if I notice any improvement in performance. That's the version that was installed out of the box. I try to ignore the nag notification to update but it does get annoying. Most of you already know this I assume. Ns4g.
NS4G is only supported in Android since GRJ06D (2.3.4_r0.9). 2.3.3 does not exist for this device.

Nexus S 2.3.5

I hate that the nexus s and nexus s 4g have such similar names! It leads to questions like the following.
Has the android 2.3.5 update been released for the standard Nexus S? I mean the non 4g one.

No, it was only a fix for the sprint 4g reception issues, nfc and other bugs at this time.

There are some other improvements mentioned that may apply to GSM devices such as the speakerphone fix, enabling the secure element for NFC (Google wallet support), improved wifi connectivity (perhaps not isolated to CDMA devices) and TTY support. The 2.3.5 changes are being pulled into the CM build per a G+ post.
I don't expect an imminent OTA for GSM devices, but some of the AOSP changes (not baseband related) could be helpful for GSM devices.
Edit: Maybe it will OTA at some point in the near future: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16015703&postcount=7

i use to get H once in a wile, but now i notice it more, but still most of the time it's 3g
wifi works perfectly no problems
i never had gps issues, my phone always locked with in a second or 2
and with this ROM it does the same thing, it locked my location within 2 seconds
it also uses the new Market
try it, you can always revert back if you don't like it you can always restore your backup
but remember this is still beta

Hard to answer because "out" is rather vague. There are not different Androids for different phones. The main gingerbread code is at version 2.3.5 and can be built for NS or NS4G or many other phones. But it has not been sent by Google to any phones besides NS4G.

I assume you mean the OTA and not the code. If you mean the OTA, it will roll out over several *weeks*. It is flagged by IMEI/ESN - once you are set for an update any subsequent checkin will yield the OTA notificaiton. Until then you will not see it.

i9020a radio 4.1.1

So I've gotten jelly bean installed on my Nexus S, granted I do have the Sprint i9020a CDMA version, I realize no radio was included, however, I flashed the latest radio that I had and JB doesn't see it, I used the i9020a version from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1784497
Is it just that there is a GSM version of the i9020a(didn't think there was) or is there something i'm missing, never had this problem before when flashing roms. Right now it says baseband "unknown". Which is telling me the ROM is only looking for a GSM radio I take it.

i9020A is gsm (the only diff with i9020T is the 850MHz for 3g). there was never an i9020a cdma version. maybe you;re confusing it with nexus S 4G (D720)?

So if I flash an AOSP version over this will it be ok? or should I just wipe and start fresh to be safe?
isn't the i9020a an att gsm phone? OP, remove your battery and tell us what it says on the phone itself. I'm thinking, along with others here, that you have the ns4g (d720).

I would start by looking through the thread of the rom you flashed. Sounds like you may just need to fix permissions or possibly wipe & reflash

Edit: Well I've went back to my 4.0.4 version until things get straightened out...to many bugs to work with in these JB ROMS.....
