I think he saying 2.3.3 might potentially fix bad signal because his GSM version gets worse signal on 2.3.4

Ahh yes, I get it now.

In another post, I wiped and installed 2.3.4 grj06d last night and am going to try it for a while to see if I notice any improvement in performance. That's the version that was installed out of the box. I try to ignore the nag notification to update but it does get annoying. Most of you already know this I assume. Ns4g.

NS4G is only supported in Android since GRJ06D (2.3.4_r0.9). 2.3.3 does not exist for this device.

Yea, we know that. He doesn't have a 4g and probably doesn't know that.

(Q) new updated baseband

Can someone please make a flashable zip of the new baseband/modem available in the new update.
Don't feel like updating the whole rom completely, just the baseband to see if it solve signal issues!
Thanks.
....
I'm also mostly interested in the baseband update. Is that captured in a nandroid update or does one need to use a flashing utility to update that?

Please I would also appreciate if someone could do this. Many of us who have attempted the update had it fail and are now left with phones that only boot into recovery or S/W Update...
So your device is unusable? It's ok as long as you can get into recovery your ok....

Last I checked they had it but they won't publish it UNTIL they get a good working stock baseband.
Right now the best bet is to flash the official via the LG updater, then reflash whatever rom you want. It's been tested to work correctly with CM7.
They are just making sure they don't screw everyone with a bad flash

i never get above edge in my house. i'm on the border of buffalo right by lake erie. i can see canada, so i'm also on the edge of tmo's signal. outside my home, i would sometimes get 4g.. and that is still the same. throughout the city, i get 4g most everywhere. maybe it improves others signal strength. and maybe it improves battery life. but my phone is plugged in alot, so hard to comment on that. all in all, i guess i answered none of your question lol. sorry.

Just do a Nandroid backup of your current config. Restore a stock Nandroid. Update using the LG updater. Then restore your CM7 backup.
Time consuming process but it'd work. You'd be back using your existing CM7 config and the new Baseband.

Nexus S 2.3.5

I hate that the nexus s and nexus s 4g have such similar names! It leads to questions like the following.

No, it was only a fix for the sprint 4g reception issues, nfc and other bugs at this time.

There are some other improvements mentioned that may apply to GSM devices such as the speakerphone fix, enabling the secure element for NFC (Google wallet support), improved wifi connectivity (perhaps not isolated to CDMA devices) and TTY support. The 2.3.5 changes are being pulled into the CM build per a G+ post.
I don't expect an imminent OTA for GSM devices, but some of the AOSP changes (not baseband related) could be helpful for GSM devices.
Edit: Maybe it will OTA at some point in the near future: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16015703&postcount=7

i use to get H once in a wile, but now i notice it more, but still most of the time it's 3g
wifi works perfectly no problems
i never had gps issues, my phone always locked with in a second or 2
and with this ROM it does the same thing, it locked my location within 2 seconds
it also uses the new Market
try it, you can always revert back if you don't like it you can always restore your backup
but remember this is still beta

Hard to answer because "out" is rather vague. There are not different Androids for different phones. The main gingerbread code is at version 2.3.5 and can be built for NS or NS4G or many other phones. But it has not been sent by Google to any phones besides NS4G.

I assume you mean the OTA and not the code. If you mean the OTA, it will roll out over several *weeks*. It is flagged by IMEI/ESN - once you are set for an update any subsequent checkin will yield the OTA notificaiton. Until then you will not see it.

OTA Firmware update UCKH1 released

today I received an Infuse replacement (my old infuse just stopped to connect to data network...) so it was all stock out of the box and it prompted me to update it. It was a 14800KB (ish) download, rebooted, installed it and it is the UCKH1 version.
Hard to tell what new or fixed at this point.

Actually I have confirmed that they have all of the same issues as us. Slower HSPA+ speeds than other phones on their network, lockscreen lag, 15fps video recording, no HDMI, probably other crap I'm forgetting. It was just a half baked release on the part of Samsung and Rogers. The issues just aren't as obvious to them because they never experienced the phone without them.

Hold on
Because of minor difference between two models, i9020a will need to go through some changes for it to function properly. I heard that if you manually update i9020a with i9020t ROM, you will either get an error or it will kill your reception

Why the i9020a is the last one.(except ns4g)
Maybe because it was the last one to come out...or maybe it is a way to keep from overloading the server. Only other thing I can think is that maybe they are working on a new radio for the att version

Probably a mixture of all these. I have an i9020a and I'm running the neopolitan ROM for now. It's great. I was on stock 2.3.6 with cwm recovery. Just wiped all and flashed it. It kept the bootloader and the radio.

It may be this month but Google never said it would be this month. They have never stated when/if the i9020a version is getting ICS. There's a difference between a French website posting false information and Google actually making an announcement. JBQ (from Google) has recently said 4.0.4 is not even finished yet. So I highly doubt 4.0.5 will be released this month before 4.0.4 is finished.

OTA-Did you get it? Withdrawn?

My daughter got it early on. I didn't. I'm having a lot of battery issues and rebooting. I want this update, hopefully it will cure my problems.
Reading the posts here, it seems it may have been withdrawn,
So I ask, Did you get the OTA? When?
I saw in the other post about the update that someone had it waiting for them Monday morning so I guess that means it wasn't withdrawn as of yesterday?
I never got it, either.
My wife hasn't gotten it, but I installed a different kernel. Would that keep her from getting the notice?

I'm curious and just want a show of hands from people who got it after the first couple of days.
Like I said, I did see where someone said they got it apparently over the weekend. This tells me it's not withdrawn?
And isn't the consensus that the OTA goes more smoothly than through LG?
Here's the problem, there's the lgp999DW, DWP, and 2 others that I dont remember off the top of my head. Only 3 of the 4 got the OTA. They're supposed to make the file available, for those who didnt recieve it like they were supposed to, around May 14. At that time I'm sure there should be a way to force load the update for our model.
