[Q] Kimi_Q work for Asus?

I don't usually log into my account as I usually just read the abundant info here. I did log in today though to post a question in another thread and noticed a private message from the user Kimi_Q. Whoever they are, they tried to sound like someone with Asus but a quick search of their posts seem to indicate probably not?
They indicated that I should return my tablet, dock and cord to Asus for an issue they noticed I had posted about. If interested, they said I should reply with my email, phone and name and a customer service rep will be in contact. Don't want to point them out as a scammer but it does smell a little fishy.
As little as I check the boards I have seen this happen a few times. There are scammers here that I only hope have been unsuccessful so far.

In case anyone else gets contacted by Kimi_Q, despite how their posts read in the forums, they either work for Asus or have a very good contact with Asus! All I have to say is, Thank You Kimi_Q!

So how many Asus tablets are there? (TF201, TF300, TF700)

Hi,
I'm in the process of designing a new product (or line of products) for the Android tablet accessories market.
Since I own the TF700, the prototypes and first series will be designed for it.
For my first production series I need to understand how many owners are out there.
Please help me and vote the poll in order to understand the potential market size of all non-iOS tablets.
(I will use these figures and statisics to estimate market size and opportunity)
There are the following options:
A. Yes, I own Asus TF700.
B. No, I don't own the TF700 but own other asus tablets such as the TF300/TF201.
C. No, I don't own Asus tablets, but I do own other Android tablets.
D. No, I don't own a tablet yet, but I intend to buy in the near future an Android tablet.
Thanks in Advance
A
there is also the first transformer pad tf101

I know, But by the time I get to market (3-6 months) it will be more than 2 years old...
Considering the forum you've opened this thread in the results are going to be somewhat skewed. Wouldn't it be better in General discussion > Accessories?

I understand your point, but the thread is not a specific accessories. It is more to understand how many owners are there (or at least in XDA).
This is the most active forum and the chances are that more people will see and vote.
Once I will have a prototype and may need more info and/or taking requests from the community, then I will post a new one in the accessories.
I need to see if I need to go for thousands (WW shipping) or tens of thousands (or maybe it is even less ).
I'm just a simple guy who thinks that it's time to give the android tablet market accessories in the same level that the Ipad have .( no more low-end accessories)

no it won't, the Asus Eee Pad Transformer (TF101) launched in April 2011, it's not near being considered more than 2 years old when it's not even 2 years.
If you need to know how many owners are out there, wouldn't it better suit you to get sales numbers (minus returns/exchanges)? Of the entire market for your future accessories, we here are a very small percentage. Most owners just use the things - they don't geek out over tech forums.

Hmm maybe try Google? Just typed 'Asus tablet sales numbers' and got a bunch of results, not specific to Infinity but maybe guesstimate or extrapolate from these numbers. According to IDC Asus shipped 855,000 tablets in the 2nd quarter showing a significant growth rate of 115%.

Relocking device...

I bought my daughter an N7 and happened to take a gander at their development over here on XDA. I happened to notice that they had an unlock/lock mechanism for the N7 to cheat the warranty. I know this forum hasn't made much progress on that front, so I figured I'd ask the stupid question of the year: Has anyone torn apart or examined their app? I know that both devices are ASUS, so you'd *think* the lock would be at least close cousins in terms of mechanism?
Just a thought...

so you want to sell your tablet with void warranty to somebody without him knowing that he wont get any warranty on it?
as there are no other reason to relock, you dont gain anything from it, asus shops have your tablet serial number on file to check for warranty vailidity, they dont look at the "this tablet is UnLocked" sign.
As for me, it probably wouldn't do much good at this point, but I'd figure the N7 crowd are circumventing the E.T. method in their unlocking tool (either that, or they'd be in for a bad surprise if something happened).
You have to think of the "children." I'd be rooting my parent's tablet I'm giving them for Christmas in a heartbeat if I knew it wouldn't void their warranty.

Sign this petition for legal phone unlocking

Hey guys and gals! I saw this news article on a petition going around to help battle the issue with illegal phone unlocking (through carriers, not yourself). Regardless, sign it!

The Whitehouse has already responded in favor of this petition, you don't need to keep signing it.
The White House agrees with the 114,000+ of you who believe that consumers should be able to unlock their cell phones without risking criminal or other penalties.

i read their responsive but they never said yes or no if they are making it legal or not

I heard there is a bill which is being passed by white house soon, relating to legalizing phone unlocking it says that every customer has rights to unlock his/her phone.
This is also badly needed for windowsrt with restricted boot.
Huge need for making thus procedure legal.
This will be very helpful for many developers and for those who try to use new custom ROMS too!

If I am Canadian, am I even allowed to sign this?
