seems too shady. i wouldnt give my address out like that
report it to a moderator and they'll do the appropriate actions to the user
It is a legit company and all. I bought my keyboard cover for the macbook from them on ebay and they have some video reviews of it on youtube. A lot of user reviews (who got it for free), so I'm not surprised that they are giving it away to get a review in return.
Ask him for a phone number or refer him to the user who recently made a video of the Casemate Pop case in the accessory section.

I know its a legit company, I was just concerned because they had 0 feedback from the forum and it I have never purchased anything from them as well as it being a PM here and not something more professional like an e-mail. Oh well. I'd like to get a free case, I may do it.

How do you expect them to email you when you don't allow it via your profile?
Even with 0 feedback, they have to start somewhere. If you don't want to give them your address, then try to get a temporary PO Box, business address, or something similar. It can't really be a scam if you're only going to give them your name and address (well, none that I have heard of yet using just those two information).

That seems way too much work just to get a free case.
And you seem pretty open to a stranger asking for your name and address. Sorry but this is the internet, gotta be cautious.
If you really need a case, I'd recommend the Case-Mate Pop case. There's a coupon in the Pop thread that reduces it to $27
I think there's a marketplace they can post in instead off spamming forum members.

How'd you get that idea? If you work somewhere you could use that address. Oh and I know it's the internet, what do you think I'm using right now? Also, what's too much work? Registering on a forum? Copy/pasting the letter and edit the name? Is it so rare for a company to have a rep register on a forum?
Anyways, I agree that it seems shady and all, but a quick Google search led me to this xda member receiving the product. Of course, he's the only one so far that I can find via quick search.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914272
And then Rearth's official blog posted that review along with other user reviews plus the link to the review (most to AndroidForums):

You could just give them a call and ask for Blake.

It's the OP's choice anyways, you can send him my way if you don't want to do it. I'm kind of interested on how good this case is after looking at some reviews of the Evo version.

If i worked for a company, I wouldn't be suspicious by mass emailing users of a forum telling them to send me their addresses. It's just not very trustworthy.
It's the internet, people can pose as other people. Again, this is just for a free case, you shouldn't have to go through a WHOLE hassle process just to verify something. They could just went to the market place or the general forum and make a general post in regards for people to test out their product.
Approaching users of a forum via Private Message is not a good practice. It's suspicious. Especially when they never made any posts or contributed to XDA. They have no recognition around this community.
I could easily make a spoof account and say im a representative from Case-Mate and that I want you to test a upcoming case that we haven't announced. I want you to test our Case-Mate Barely There case before we announce it.
Would you easily just give someone your address? It could be a friend of yours who simply hates you and wants your address. It's not a smart idea to be so free to give your address away.
Ordering something online? Yeah. If they're a massive corporation and its something I can trust, I have no fear of giving my address away. To a stranger? not happening.

I understand why it seems shady, didn't I say that in my previous post? *Looks back* Why yes I did. So no need to waste your time to explain it. Geez.
Anyways, I provided information for the OP to go by. So that's that. It's his choice to make anyways. If you consider a quick 2 minute search such a hassle, then okay whatever, that's just you.
In reply to the suspiciousness regarding the method of contact. I apologize if it made anyone feel uncomfortable. Additionally, I didn't mass spam anyone. I sought through the entire forum and selected around 10 individuals who I felt would contribute a worthy review to the community. I could post my own review of the product but that doesn't carry as much credit does it?
Again, I apologize for this chosen method of contact. However, you won't have to worry about that method anymore in the future. We are setting up our official review request option on our new Website, and we will allow users (such as yourselves) to come and request to review one of our products if you like. But of course, we will only select a number of reviewers per week and will include only those individuals we feel will truly post a worth while review for others to view.
And I assure you all that I will be contributing much more to this community from here on out.
Well, we will see if its a scam, If he wanted my address he can easily look that up on the web. (note sarcasm)
doesn't sound like a scam, just a company trying to get xda publicity for their product by sending out a few free ones. op has over 2k messages to his name, so has some reputation here. you should actually be kinda honoured. if in doubt, set up a new email address and contact them asking for a phone #.
it's called marketing and all that jazz

Hi Everyone,
Regarding my recent thread about Asus Support, I received a PM from someone with a user account name "Asus_USA".
Is this guy legit? Anyone can make an account named "Dell_USA", "Moto_USA", or "Asus_USA" and claim they represent the company.
He told me he could get me a replacement unit, not to send the RMA, and that he represented the North America division. This just seems fishy considering I am sending this to a USA address in Cali.
The account also has 0 posts which concerns me as well.
Has anyone else heard from this account? Is he/she legit?

Yeah, that's Hai. He's legit and very helpful and professional. I worked with him on my RMA. If you are concerned, he is more than happy to send an e-mail to you through the normal Asus e-mail. I had the same concern when he contacted me via PM at first.
that does seem really fishy, but if what the guy stated above is true then go for it.
Make sure you ask for an official email and some other type of verification.
hes legit, he's helped a bunch of people.
If it's all above board then it's good to see Asus taking an interest, I wonder how many other manufacturers do the same for their products.

It's refreshing and surprising that you had an issue and the company contacted you before you contacted them. I just don't think people are really used to that.

I'm using my third one too. I love the experience on the device, but some of its apparent issues, specially one with the speakers.
I'm also going after this guy, if the third one gets messed up too
I'm impressed they have a guy on this forum! I"m also impressed with my Eee Pad, the fact this ig got such an early update to 3.1 and the overall design and use of this device.
The only concern I have is after the update to 3.1 when I powered it down for the night and woke up in the morning, it was awake and receiving emails; later when reading an article online, it suddenly rebooted for no reason. I'm hopin this activity does not keep up.
someone tell the Hai guy to have Asus use thicker copper paint next time...mine's starting to fleck off.
Update. Site is a scam and asks for wire transfer.
Just ordered the tf700 from there for my daughter. Price is insane low for the 64gb, just not sure how trust worthy they are.
Used my wifes cc and there worry part is this.... it did not ask for phone number. All the other info was regular info, address, email and bla bla bla
Not 5 minutes later she gets pop up on her phone for a chat invite from easy electronic store. i saw it on the screen as she read it and said WTF, not seconds later she lost the pop up. I dont know what it was or where it came from. I cant find anything on her phone to see where it came from
I guess well see if the tf700 comes. If it does ill be ordering another for my other daughter so im crossing my fingers
I was looking at the site easyelectronicstore.com
I dunno there my friend...if it were me I'd cancel that credit card charge immediately.

Considering that the two color options are "black" and "white" (two non existant colors on the tf700), I'd say it's probably not real..

Yeah I know what you're saying I've been trying to look for the same thing, they're apparently selling iPhone 5's for £300 - BARGAIN OF THE YEAR! If it's legit that is... Cheers mate hopefully this'll help!! Good luck!!! I look forward to the *hopefully* all clear (Y)
EDIT: Should point out - a good observation on the Black/White colour availability on ALL products across the website but I done some searching they've been up as a website for about 28 days - no reviews - so looks like we're the guinea pigs of this site so we'll find out soon enough.. I checked it through this: scamadviser.com/ - go to 'check webiste' and type in www[dot]easyelectronicstore[dot]com
SECOND EDIT: I know I keep editing but I'm realising more bits and pieces that may help put two and two together. From a programmers point of view; adapting on the above colour availability 'black and white' across the site.. the actual 'Availability' read's 'In stock' as a drop down box. This should not be the case as the customer cannot choose whether something is in stock or not but we should only be able to view this information. So either poorly designed web pages or scam. - I've been talking to a 'representative' and they're saying all the right things but I guess overall we'll just have to wait and see..
BTW, i found this thru the google shopper app on my phone. Otherwise i can not find any other info on this retailer

The site says locations in Virginia and the UK...
Still say it looks shady...
I just looked the site up a few minutes ago & I was concerned about the contact number, it's a cell/mobile phone number not a direct land-line,which would raise my suspicions, I sincerely do hope ALL goes well & your product reaches you though I am concerned....
P.s.why don't you give them a call on the phone number the site gives you?(I didn't include it in my post incase I done something wrong)
Do not order from this website
Easyelectronicstore.com is REMARKABLY a lot like superstoregadgets.com both websites have both US and UK addresses (although superstoregadgets.com didn't have a US address a month ago) I was really excited about the price at first too since it was so cheap but when I went through their checkout process just to see how much they would charge for shipping I received an email saying this:
"We thank you for your order# (New ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 64GB 10.1" Android Tablet), and we want to inform you that your order has been received and confirmed, packed and will soon be ready for shipment, but we are unable to process your credit card because of the issues we are presently facing with our credit card processor, due to large volume of order we are receiving at this promo period, and no COD anymore, to complete this order, we need to receive your payment before we can ship out your order, all payments are to be made via Online Money Transfer (Western Union or Money Gram)."
Funny thing was...I never even entered any payment information yet. So I did some searching and the UK address for superstoregadgets had been used by several other online stores in the past and people had ordered stuff from them and never received their products.
Easyelectronicstore.com doesn't even have any certifications. Just a picture of a "safe and secure" badge on the page that doesn't even link to any agency that would support any confirmation that the site is legit. Just like with superstoregadgets.com when you search for the address on google you get no other indication that the website has an online presence or notoriety.
I SERIOUSLY BELIEVE THAT EASYELECTRONICSTORE.COM IS A SCAM. IF YOU HAVE ORDERED FROM THEM I WOULD SUGGEST IMMEDIATELY TRYING TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK AND I WOULD SUGGEST INVESTIGATING INTO POSSIBLY PUTTING A FRAUD ALERT ON THAT CARD.
It's better to be safe than sorry.
Yeah I think it is a scam. Luckily used cc instead of debit so I should be good to go. Gonna wait till tuesday and if I dont have anything from them im gonna try and call and then ill call my cc co.
My wife got the chat invite again today when she was out and it disapeared before she could get a screen shot for me.

How much did the charge for the tablet on their site?
And Asus 'doesn't provide support' for unlocking, even before the actual process is done. The unlocker hasn't worked since I bought it in June (network error message,) and I'm running ICS. The bootloader needs to be unlocked in order to utilize the I/O fix, something one would have assumed would be fixed considering it plagued the TF300T, but wasn't. I was going to try registering the tablet, but oh look, even Asus' member registration servers don't work. What should I do with this ~$900 paperweight?
Also: "To prevent spam to the forums, new users must wait five minutes between posts." Editing a message isn't a post.
Edit: Correction, the registration servers are up now, but it tells me my tablet is already registered. So not only do I not hold my own device's registration, but it obviously doesn't matter anyway. A quick look reveals that the S/N on the sticker is different than the S/N in the device settings. Is there a way to change the S/N? I doubt that's the problem, but I'm out of ideas besides selling it as a used item, at a loss.
Definitely won't be buying Asus again.

Although buhohitr is absolutely correct in stating that ASUS ins the only entity able to help you out with this, I just wanted to chime in as well to remark that many, if not all units that have come back from ASUS' RMA process have been unable to get unlocked at all.
Although I find it a bit harsh to call the stock 700 a paperweight (just as if it is worthless on its original merits -- which, subjectively speaking, to me is hardly the case -- unlocking and flashing a custom ROM does alleviate at least some of the niggles. Try and drop Gary Key a line -- he might be able to do something for you.

That's funny, because there have been several mentions of this problem (even across forums worldwide).
Well... If the support department retract its head into its turtle armor, I guess there's no alternative to sending it back to ASUS. Can you get OTAs? Normally, the devices that are unable to unlock are also unable to receive updates over-the-air, and that might be a valid concern, thus providing a reason to send it in.
I just sent mine back in for this issue... But I haven't actually heard of anyone getting one back unlockable yet. Maybe one guy, but it's the last 'proper' way to deal with an improper company. When I sent mine in I marked No to the permission to recover o/s and they did it anyways, and that was to fix something they broke during the previous rma. They told me they didn't and only replaced the cover, like I'm some idiot who can't tell if the device is te-locked after sending it in. We'll, there's two people who asked me what to buy and Asus has lost at least two sales now. Maybe they'll figure it out someday if you screw others you'll have it come back around.

Other Options?
Hopefully there is a developer out there who has a lot more knowledge than myself who might be able to answer this for me. Why do we need to run an unlock from Asus? Why should they know that we have unlocked our devices and keep tabs on our devices?
I own an Acer A500 Tablet also. This tablets comes shipped with a locked boot loader, however Acer do not provide an option of unlocking.
The Acer devs run a routine called 'ItsMagic' to bypass the locked bootloader. Here is a link to the XDA thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1121543
Is this an option for our TF700T?
P.S I will start this reply as a separate thread so I do not Hijack this thread. Sorry to the OP.
Hey all - just wanted to update the thread. I had a tab go back for RMA that was unlocked, came back locked and couldn't unlock d/t 'network error'. Well, sent it back in again and it was able to unlock. The RMA sheet showed 'SSN show unknown' under the problem catagory. I know the tf300 guys have a lot of this problem too, but thought it sounded like the same problem some of us who sent their devices in for RMA work.

SSN is the serial number. Do you remember if the serial number on the "about tablet" page matched the sticker on the tablet that was not unlockable?

Yes, IIRC. I checked that when I first had problems. I've read about others having some issue with their MAC address though, but I don't know what that was before and after the RMA. I don't think I've read of anyone else actually getting this issue resolved when they sent it in though.

Might even be the same issue - I think the unlock tool sends the MAC address to the unlock server, and the database on the server should contain a matching record with your CPU key and maybe serial number. If not, you can't unlock.
Hi There,
I'd like to share my experience buying an iMito QX1 from Geekbuying.com - not for the sake of flaming, but really to help fellow community members avoid lost money and unnecessary heartache.
I purchased the item in June - and have yet to see a refund for a defective product.
It took forever to arrive - and upon arrival was basically DOA. It worked very briefly, in which time I couldn't find sufficient information online to try and flash the new firmware to get it to work properly (the Geekbuying forum information is very minimal, to say the least, and the response rate is very slow), and upon pulling out to try and refresh and reconnect, it stopped working entirely. I connected it to numerous tvs and devices, to no avail - signal has been lost.
This is a known issue that many people have posted about - and Geekbuying.com have completely ignored. See these threads:

After reaching out to Geekbuying and explaining everything - and everything we tried technically - they initially were willing (supposedly) to provide a refund or alternate device (we asked for a refund), and asked us to fill out forms that they never provided us with, and since then have been stalling, evading, and unhelpful.
Below is the chat I had with their operator today, where they once again have evaded and chosen to be unhelpful:

I am sharing my experience, in order to ensure others don't go through the same, and to share my experience purchasing the iMito QX1 - which on paper is supposed to be an awesome device, but falls short in execution.
Good luck.
Thank you for posting this. I hope your post will help others to be aware too. But I have to tell you for every post you find like this and believe me there are many. You will also find many post on other forums that will defend this company and have complete lack of empathy. If you read those threads you will find as I have. They are generally from people who have a certain (ahem, cough) relationship with them. It sickens me to say the least. BTW, its not just the device you purchased either. I try to let people know that a lot of these divides can all so be purchased through Amazon. I am not promoting Amazon. I am just saying if something does go wrong. You have a much better chance of a fair outcome. Sorry to here of your episode. You were more than fair with them. I will not be surprised if there is a reply in their defense. Then again, maybe not here. But, try a certain f****tab forum and you will see what I mean. Good luck.

Thanks for the support - I'm sure you're right - I just hope that the sincerity comes through and that if someone who is looking to purchase an item from them and sees this post at some point, may possibly reconsider.
I never do things like this and if it were a small amount I'd likely just forget about it, but it's a $90 product.

It seems difficult to get money back as the address the post on their website are not detailed. I am in Shenzhen and I don't think I can find the right place.

All you have to do is dispute with your credit card/bank company. Let them take care of it and save you the hassle.

No, I don't know anyone there. I'll try that - thanks. (Is there any specific way I can reach out to him? Is he on XDA? Facebook? There's a general email address at geekbuying, and I'm not sure how I can get him specifically to deal with my issue).
Register over there then private message geekbuying member hope this helps

Amazing such issue's were had.
I also bought my QX1 from Geekbuying however I ordered via Amazon (bundle pack with external antenna & Cat 5 USB adaptor)..
My order was received 4 days later (via USPS).
The unit works great & still no issue's on my end with my unit.
Also bought an airmouse from them (via Amazon again) & received that the day before last (2 days after order)..
Long of the short of all of this is I wouldn't put such hate towards one posting that's seen..
As I've had no issue's on my end once so ever..
Just stating my $0.03....
Shame about the issue's though as the QX1 really is I nice little device (however deva support is still very limited)..
My experience with imito qx1 is also positive. Bought it on geekbuying.com and was aware that shipping last LONG. Got it and it works like a charm. Had same issues in the beginning but flashed it with Finless 1.5 ROM form freaktab.com and it works great. That was a good decision.
I was able to RMA my CX-919 to geekbuying for just return shipping $8.
They asked for a youtube video of it not working!
Took two months but the new device works great.
