Hi,
I'm in the process of designing a new product (or line of products) for the Android tablet accessories market.
Since I own the TF700, the prototypes and first series will be designed for it.
For my first production series I need to understand how many owners are out there.
Please help me and vote the poll in order to understand the potential market size of all non-iOS tablets.
(I will use these figures and statisics to estimate market size and opportunity)
There are the following options:
A. Yes, I own Asus TF700.
B. No, I don't own the TF700 but own other asus tablets such as the TF300/TF201.
C. No, I don't own Asus tablets, but I do own other Android tablets.
D. No, I don't own a tablet yet, but I intend to buy in the near future an Android tablet.
Thanks in Advance
A
there is also the first transformer pad tf101

I know, But by the time I get to market (3-6 months) it will be more than 2 years old...
Considering the forum you've opened this thread in the results are going to be somewhat skewed. Wouldn't it be better in General discussion > Accessories?

I understand your point, but the thread is not a specific accessories. It is more to understand how many owners are there (or at least in XDA).
This is the most active forum and the chances are that more people will see and vote.
Once I will have a prototype and may need more info and/or taking requests from the community, then I will post a new one in the accessories.
I need to see if I need to go for thousands (WW shipping) or tens of thousands (or maybe it is even less ).
I'm just a simple guy who thinks that it's time to give the android tablet market accessories in the same level that the Ipad have .( no more low-end accessories)

no it won't, the Asus Eee Pad Transformer (TF101) launched in April 2011, it's not near being considered more than 2 years old when it's not even 2 years.
If you need to know how many owners are out there, wouldn't it better suit you to get sales numbers (minus returns/exchanges)? Of the entire market for your future accessories, we here are a very small percentage. Most owners just use the things - they don't geek out over tech forums.

Hmm maybe try Google? Just typed 'Asus tablet sales numbers' and got a bunch of results, not specific to Infinity but maybe guesstimate or extrapolate from these numbers. According to IDC Asus shipped 855,000 tablets in the 2nd quarter showing a significant growth rate of 115%.

If the information from this blog (blog.gadgethelpline.com/gsl-live-2011-hands-asus-eee-pad-transformer) is correct, I may be opting for Acer's April 24th release. June 1st is too long to wait for me. By fall I will be selling and getting the new quad-core's anyways.
P.S. Sorry guys can't do the full link. Too new a user still.

O wait, he beat me to it
still waiting for the Asus transformer
But the Acer one misses the gorilla glass and Acer has generally lower reliability ratings compared to Asus I believe!
Plus, the Acer unit is not getting any love from anyone right now. It's sort of Transformer-lite but you can get it in the US earlier than the Transformer and spend an extra $50 for that privilege.
It does have USB on the tablet side, while the Transformer has a bit of a kludgey USB port. It has worse glass than the T-former and I think the weight is roughly the same. There are no keyboard-docking options with the Acer, which only has weight on those folks who think a keyboard is necessary. I simply like the option that if I want a tablet now, if I change my mind and want a keyboard, one is there straight from the manufacturer.
But like I started with, the Acer is getting no love. No idea if XDA will have a forum for it or anything, but look at what's getting created here with this site. It's a lot of fun and security to have a techie community like this supporting a product like the Transformer. Look at the love the ipads get and the community behind it, that's a big draw to know that you're making a financial investment ( $400+ ) in something and that you're not in that boat alone.

Here, here ( shouts a stranger from the crowd )
Didn't Acer show a keyboard dock for its tablets long time ago? Maybe they will release some in the future.
So many tablets are scheduled for release in the June timeframe but I want the Asus. I wish they would release a date when it will be available in the us. Even the Acer us at least on bestbuy as coming.
The wait is killing me. I want a tablet and am considering a NC to hold me over but my luck I'll buy one and they'll release the transformers.
Hi, I live in the UK and have got family in the US to buy a transformer and bring it over with them. Can anybody WITH a transformer confirm if it is a US warranty or global like the pc's they do.
Thanks!
I think I read a post in XDA which confirmed the warranty was worldwide.

Yeah, I read that too, but I saw someone said the booklet said US....
Can anyone confirm this or not? I'm really interested in buying the Transformer Prime when it is released in the US as it will be priced at $499. Here in the UK it is likely to be priced at around £499 which is just silly. Anyway, the warranty rules for the original transformer is probably likely to be the same as the Prime so just wanted to find out. TIA
Hello xda community!
I am looking into buying a tablet soon, and am wondering what tablet I should get for this will be my first.
I would like it if the tablet had an active developement community.
Any suggestion?
Thanks!
-icraft
If you have enough money to spare and a bit patience, i would wait for the transformer prime and see how it is welcomed in the developement community.
Besides that, the acer iconia A501/A500 are not bad.
If it should be a bit more low budget, check out one of the amazon readers. Most have received android custom ROMs.
I am willing to wait for I would still like to do.more reasearch. I probably wont end up buying anything until Q1 2012
Any other suggestions?
Transformer Prime is defiantly the best choice. Quad-core with ICS, can't be beat. I have 2 tablets, and I think tablets are great.
Hit that thank button if I helped!
What kind of price tag are we looking at for the transformer prime? Hopefully 600-?
It will be around there.
Hit that thank button if I helped!
Ya will be around ~600, its 600euro incl. keyboard on german amazon.
I just researched a lot on the tablet and came to find that it will be launching with honeycomb and the price for the 32gb version is 499$ USD
I will be looking into this tablet, thanks.
I went in to Best Buy to grab the fabled $300 Transformer (not Prime) last week. They had three boxes on the shelf. They told me that the Transformer was actually $400. I showed them the Best Buy website product page for the Transformer for $300. They said that was a different model. I said, "No, look, the specs are EXACTLY the same. It is different in no way whatsoever. It is the same device." They said that it was the "black Friday" edition. And they didn't have any of the $300 Black Friday editions, they only had the $400 normal editions.
First of all, that's bait and switch. That's saying "Oh, come into our store and get this device for only $300!" And then when you walk in they say "Nope, sorry, that's a DIFFERENT MODEL with the same specifications and build! It may be identical in every way, but it's different, and we don't have any." Bait and switch is illegal. If they somehow get around that by bending the law by selling the Black Friday devices under a different model number, that SHOULD be illegal.
TL;DR
Anyway, enough of that rant. On the Best Buy site, even the Black Friday $300 edition went back up to $400 just yesterday. Is this because of the delay with the Prime? Is there any hope of a $300 Transformer before Christmas? Or will I have to get the HTC Flyer? After the Prime is released, do we have any idea whatsoever on the pricing of the first edition? I know no one knows for sure. Even speculation would be nice.
Thanks!
the prime isnt released till the week of the 19th so i dont know where you got your information
I was talking about the CURRENT Transformer. The TF101 or whatever. If I was asking about the Prime, this post would be in the Prime's forum
My question is does anyone have any valid speculation as to what might happen to the CURRENT Transformer's price after the Prime is released. I would like to know because last week the CURRENT Transformer was $300 at Best Buy (now it's $400 again. Possibly due to the delay of the Prime?)

I'm an idiot
Fixed it. And to be clear, I only called it the Prime twice haha.
Hey guys. Today I was at my local best buy and saw this tablet. It sat right next to its red counterpart, which was $350. To my surprise, the blue version was on "Clearance" at $250.
Is this a deal I should take advantage of? Or would it be wrong considering it should be $350?
I'm sorry I don't have pictures, but I will try to explain why I think its a mistake. The sale end date was "1/1/99"....and also, I can't find this tablet anywhere this cheap.
Is the tablet really on sale for this price? Was it a mistake?
Sorry if this might be a stupid question, I just don't know where else I should ask.
I think i would just buy it to be honest. It seems cheap and if it is a missprice on the item, it may show when the item is scanned. It's not like you're doing anything illegal or committing a crime.
