To backup the room I use the ClockMod Recovery, your phone will be faster if you install a ROM, and I prefer the CyanogenMod ROM because it have more options and extras but the SmartLucky is not too bad (I have installed the 2 onces) Sorry for my English, and good luck!

According to me Cyanogen 7.0 is very stable and battery lasts for even after a day with the use of Wifi and GPS enabled. I like it and Gingerbread has very cool look compared to Froyo.
But a very big drawback is the External speaker sound is very high with excessive boss. So it sounds very ugly. But in Headphones it is fine.
the Ringtones which comes through the external speakers are too very high BOSS.
But what i found in my experience, the Battery life in Vodafone UK stock ROM is almost equal to Cyanogen Mod. I bought this phone in INDIA so it came with IN stock ROM, it did not have much battery life. however i am still testing it. You feel the Cyanogen Mod is very much better because the CPU is over and under-clocked so it gives a great improvements. On a longer use you will find, application can freeze sometimes.. but it is not all the times. Another Point, the network carrier name is not resolving to its name. Say for example, if you network carrier Vodafone has the Network Code 40484, it shows the Network code rather than the network Carrier name. This is also happening when you go to settings and search for the available networks. I am seeing Just 40484 2G, 40485 3G etc and not the network names. This makes me difficult to switch over to other network when i roam across countries and cities.
But i am reverting to Cyanogen and Stock ROM often because to test the battery lifetime however i am music lover. So i need a most treble effects than BOSS even with external speakers. So still preferring Stock ROM.

Thanks for all , about the names of the networks carriers according to me the networks have her names, I have this phone from VodafoneES(Spain) and all the networks have their names...
About the battery in Cyanogenmod setting. You can change the CPU 'lock' to perform this, for example: The Spanish Stock ROM have the CPU on 252-600mHz range, the shorter number is the maximun CPU speed, if you put in a high number your phone will be more usefull for persons who calls a lot, and send too many sms, but the battery will decrease faster than if you put in a shorter number(like 128 in mi case). I hope you will understand me, because my English it's too bad. Byeee! !

It is true and I agree every network has her name. My problem is it is not showing the name and shows only the network code. I found only India stock rom shows the name and rest of the rom like cm and other country rom shows network code in home screen and list of available network in settings

Could someone please help me with performance issues on xiaomi mi 4i?
I keep every electronic device in my surroundings well- tuned but this device of mine
hardly gives 34000 score on 64bitantutu benchmark in performance mode, not only poor in
benchmarks but certain games like asphalt 8 even lag like **** on medium settings when on performance mode. Is this a make issue? Should I return this phone to flipkart? Any suggestions? I have maximally optimised this phone especially for running heavy games and that was the sole purpose to purchase it.
I am new to xda developers, and this is my first thread.
I get about 3.9k score on antutu and saw a post here abt someone getting the same score I haven't played that game but its a very high end game I would expect a few lags coz this is not a high end phone also wait for a few updates the recent updates have made the phone laggy for everyone they might fix that

Which miui version are you currently on man?
Also, I got hardly 10gb internal storage free once freshly unboxed the phone.
And there are major stutters on medium settings playing in performance mode itself!!! I have seen people play it on high with ease on this phone.

I seem to have the issue slightly fixed! This somewhat works for me.
I turned all the animation scales in developer options to 0.5x.
This phone doesn't seem to heat much now in daily usage.
Major stutters seemed to decrease in asphalt 8.
Idk but I am not able to change memory optimization setting in developer options. (It remains on medium anyhow.).
Any other suggestions?

Guys update to new version. It you haven't received the OTA, check out this link here. This update is really good. Major changes
http://en.miui.com/thread-129452-1-1.html
I installed 6.6.1.0 by not having tried the previous version, cuz my phone is new. And I'm SHOCKED about the performance of the device! Had a Galaxy S4 i9506 with Snapdragon 800 before which was running WAY more fluid?! Could it really be, that the 615 is THAT much slower and less snappy? Or is this all about the not-so-well-built MIUI6 on this device? I REALLY hoped the MI4I would be a good replacement...
Im coming from a Moto x 2014 and was amazing and 0 lag.
No i have an 32 gigs s6 but i fighting with the lag.
Sometimes runs smoothly and sometimes lags every time,
I get into recovery a wipe cache and nothing, any idea to fix this?
I have the new 5.1.1 france rom and my model is 920F
Regards.
Can't help you as I don't have the 5.1.1 ROM yet, but have no lag on 5.0.2. The other thing is, lag is subjective. The Moto X 2014 certainly does lag on certain actions such as facebook etc.
If you haven't already, after a ROM update it's always usefull to factory reset if you've backed everything up.
5.1.1 runs nearly equal to 5.0.2 on power saving mode .. mainly the effect is on scrolling. I always used 5.0.2 on power saving as it would suffice
Ok, ill try a factory reset again in 5.1.1
Thankyou
I had minimal lag and decent battery life on 5.0.2. Upgraded to 5.1.1 and that all changed. Scrolling lag, terrible stand by drain... And I factory reset after upgrading.

Although it's only $1.50, I don't want to spend money on an app just to test it.
Also, reverting to the stock theme instead of the new "material" theme has seemed to help my lag issue a bit.

Same observation here. The new Material theme makes the scrolling worse on 5.1.1 and also a few other themes does the same detriment to UI fluidity. I had downloaded like 12 different themes and now deleting one by one after testing them out and keeping only those which do not affect fluidity...
I'm not even using Samsung Launcher.. Nova Launcher ftw
No lag out of the ordinary on 5.0.2... Haven't received the new OTA yet
I've found the same - themes can cause noticeable lag.
Package Disabler Pro totally works with 5.1.1. I only have a weird bug with Hangouts.apk, but you can disable this app via the traditional manager so thats not a problem.
About the lags and so, i also have some from time to time. I'd say the overall butterness feeling is lower than what i used to have with my Nexus 5 (+ franco kernel and a great rom). I noticed some real laggy actions with both 5.0.2 and 5.1.1.
BTW Knox is a real pain in the ass. Denying you all hardware warranty just because you changed the ROM or recovery is lame.

Bloatware installed by Samsung. Some of those apps you will never use actually start themselves in the background. Just go see by yourself in your running apps manager.
The app also help you to debloat by colouring known "useless" apps (by useless, I mean nor the phone or the system need them to operate properly)

It is not lame as custem ROM can cause overheating or to high voltage on some sensitive parts that can easily burn and then when phone is usuble but some part doesn't work there is no certen way of determining how it got broken in the first palace and it is more easily blamed on root and custom recovery's...

I HAD to click "thanks" for this, you actually made me smile. Sure, sure, custom roms do burn phones ;-p
Well, i guess you said that seriously. Modern CPUs in our phones (just as those in our computers since the Core series) are very well protected against oveheating and will nearly NEVER burn or damage themselves nor the circuitry around. You may unlock FSB or change voltage as you want if you changed the kernel (not your average root user though), HW will always be protected since the device will stop operating itself immediately if it is too hot. Only thing that may happen if your not-so-average root user is also stupid enough, is not being able to reboot the device himself if risky settings (like very low voltage) are set to boot with without testing. Big deal, since you have access to a custom recovery to change that anyway.

I tend to stay away from root as possible as I am not really experienced enough ... And I hardly find a good tutorial that is really conclusive ... On the other hand every phone I had was chosen because I liked all of the aspects of it ... So I really never had the need for root ... And not to mention one experience when one time I did root ... And it was with S4 ... And in the end it was extremely close to having phone that dose not work ...and bad experience in all that is actually that phone was working as it should before rooting and after it never really did work good ...

Pretty choppy indeed. I guess that depends what you are used to though. Considering the hardware there is no reason to worry, this slugginess will probably be cured soon (via samsung updates or custom roms). But i never suspected my good old nexus 5 would actually be more fluid even at start.

VoLTE will only work if your carrier supports it. Plus if your carrier supports it, the CSC has to match as well for the option to be there in the Phone settings.

Coming from the COI9 firmware, which had the worst battery life possible (when the phone was simply laying on the desk with 30 minutes of SoT I was at 40% battery. That is with power saving mode enabled FYI and no apps running in the background. Yes, hard resets were performed multiple times to try and fix the problem) I'm very skeptical about this firm's battery life. So I decided not to give it a chance
That sucks. my carrier supports wifi calling and volte and I don't have the choice to activate the settings. what a waste downloading this rom.
Have you guys ever find your mm ROMs for this phone laggy and buggy?
Cause mine is.
I purchased my moto g november/15 and installed marshmallow as soon as it was available. LP was better. Baterry lasted longer and so. Now MM has a bug when i use doble chop to light the LED (it blinks once and only turn on again when i go there manualy). And baterry lasts half a day of moderated use.
The worst problem is the lag. It even lag os YouTube videos! The fame rate of the vídeo drops to 0 sometimes.
And no. I dibt have Facebook APP. Only groups and menseger.

I guess you should factory reset your phone. As per Marshmallow update, Rom is much smoother and ram management is better in marshmallow.
Also you can go on flashing AgniKernel @psndna88 for better performance and battery life.

I would agree with @liborio99 factory default your device and set it up again... do not backup and restore any application data (Google data, call history, SMS info, and similar data is fine though). The stock Marshmallow ROM is very battery friendly and no more laggy than Lollipop, if you are experiencing something different, it is time to factory default.
My phone was laggy for weeks now.. I'm om RR Remix and Agni. Changed my I/O from BFQ tot ROW: And WOW it doesn't lag, force closes apps anymore and performance is top notch. It seems BFQ is standard enabled om many g3 roms, so maybe there is the problem? Just here for help greets

Broadcasted from Zeta Reticuli
Hello i have the pixel for about 1 week and is really an amazing phone, the best android i have ever had probably, maybe in pair with HTC ONE M8, is near perfect but one of the points that keeps me on android is the posibility of customizing things and improve some thing about a phone, sound, camera, themes, battery, and many other factors.
I used to change phones so quickly since i buy and sell them and test in the while, but didnt find a phone good enough yet, and the pixel is near perfect in every way possible. But i see it almost has no development, i was surprised when i checked forums and didnt find much development.
Well lets go directly in my "problem" lets call it like that:
Things i would like to do on the Pixel are:
1- Customize themes, something like samsung and oneplus offers, the ability to change themes, like making it completely black in settings and menu.
2- Improve the sound, since this is one of the weakest points in the phone, i want to improve it and activate the frontal speaker.
3- Add Miracast, since i use a lot this and i dont know why google took it.
4- Improve a little more the battery, i have an excellent battery life on the pixel 5" like 5/6 hours of SOT in a whole day, but i thing it can goes a little better.
I know all of these can be done with root and custom kernel and roms, but i would like to know if i will lose something rooting and unlocking the bootloader.
For example in my previus Nexus 6P the camera has damaged after rooting then when returned to stock it worked back well.
1- Do i need to root to install any custom kernel and rom ?
2- Do i need to unlock bootloader to install custom kernel and rom?
For example im planning to put franco kernel and pure nexus rom, i will lose something doing this?do i have to unlock bootloader to do this?
Thank you very much for your answers. Regards
You will need to unlock bootloader to do any mods. Even to root.
Personally I use Pure Nexus ROM and it's amazing. Full themeing with Substratum is there. Lots of tweaks. There is a WETA mod for audio that adds Viper4Android driver.
Two Roms that seem to be very stable are Pure Nexus and Dirty Unicorns.

Two Roms that seem to be very stable are Pure Nexus and Dirty Unicorns.

Thanks for the fast answer. So I don't lose anything opening the bootloader? And what about battery life. On stock in getting superb battery life. You use any custom kernel?
By the questions you asked I take it you're pretty new at installing custom roms? I'd say don't do it and be happy with what you get with stock Android. Bet you 10 to 1 you'll brick your Pixel.

Unlocking the bootloader will wipe your data so if you decide to do it, back things up first.

No i am not new at all in this I have installed custom Roms on hundreds of devices from different Brands. I have been customized phone since Sony Ericsson devices before android. But any device is different is not the same procedure to root unlock and install things on Samsung Motorola and HTC any has its own way.
I just asking these because I'm Nexus devices rooting caused camera problems. And the pixel is so amazing like it it's already not like most devices that needs several things to work good. But if I can improve some things without loosing anything I would like to install customs and mods.

Just for my 2 cents, regarding battery life I've tried stock, stock rooted, PureNexus, and custom kernels. By far the best battery life has been stock + rooted with Greenify using aggressive doze and hibernating many apps. I actually had much worse battery life with PureNexus and both Franco kernel and stock, lots of wake locks.

Nice but aggressive doze doesnt means you lose notifications from apps when you lock the device. Like WhatsApp Facebook Tapatalk notifications. I'm getting near 6 hours of SOT in wifi I'm really amazed with it.

I still get notifications in near real-time. I think what you're talking about is when you hibernate apps. I have some social media apps not hibernated, and those come through while my phone is idle with the screen off, while apps that are hibernated come through delayed which I don't mind.
Just to throw in my opinion, most Google devices (Nexus and Pixel) have enough hardware power to last beyond the support life cycle. If this is your daily driver, I'd wait and research until you no longer receive new versions of the OS. At that point tweak the phone to your heart's content. That's just my opinion though.

Nice. I have to try that apk I read several times for years about it but never used. If you have time you could send me your setup of Greenify and the apps you hibernate. Thanks a lot.

I have everything hibernated except for some social media apps, and have the donation package so I have aggressive doze and wakeup enabled

Stock vs ROM
I ran stock for a while and tried PureNexus. I love the PureNexus ROM, and I can't say I had any problems running it. I tried installing the Hexa ROM, but I could never get it to install the GAPPs correctly, so I reverted back to PureNexus. I've run it rooted and unrooted, no difference that I can see, other than running some apps like Titanium backup and I want to know if something is trying to request root access.
