[Q] Mi4i major performance and heating issues. - Xiaomi Mi 4i

Could someone please help me with performance issues on xiaomi mi 4i?
I keep every electronic device in my surroundings well- tuned but this device of mine
hardly gives 34000 score on 64bitantutu benchmark in performance mode, not only poor in
benchmarks but certain games like asphalt 8 even lag like **** on medium settings when on performance mode. Is this a make issue? Should I return this phone to flipkart? Any suggestions? I have maximally optimised this phone especially for running heavy games and that was the sole purpose to purchase it.
I am new to xda developers, and this is my first thread.

I get about 3.9k score on antutu and saw a post here abt someone getting the same score I haven't played that game but its a very high end game I would expect a few lags coz this is not a high end phone also wait for a few updates the recent updates have made the phone laggy for everyone they might fix that

Which miui version are you currently on man?
Also, I got hardly 10gb internal storage free once freshly unboxed the phone.
And there are major stutters on medium settings playing in performance mode itself!!! I have seen people play it on high with ease on this phone.

The latest 6.5.6 ( the most laggy update lol)
Sent from my Mi 4i using Tapatalk

I seem to have the issue slightly fixed! This somewhat works for me.
I turned all the animation scales in developer options to 0.5x.
This phone doesn't seem to heat much now in daily usage.
Major stutters seemed to decrease in asphalt 8.
Idk but I am not able to change memory optimization setting in developer options. (It remains on medium anyhow.).

Any other suggestions?

I suppose you confused the mi4 with the mi4i! You have sent the link to the mi4 developer rom. Anyway, I have tried the mi 4i developer ROM and I am now getting 39k on Antutu!!!
Thanks for the suggestion man, no hint of lag at all!!! Also, the device doesn't heat beyond 39°!!!

The Mi4i Still Has Heating Issue With The Developer Version.

Guys update to new version. It you haven't received the OTA, check out this link here. This update is really good. Major changes
http://en.miui.com/thread-129452-1-1.html

I installed 6.6.1.0 by not having tried the previous version, cuz my phone is new. And I'm SHOCKED about the performance of the device! Had a Galaxy S4 i9506 with Snapdragon 800 before which was running WAY more fluid?! Could it really be, that the 615 is THAT much slower and less snappy? Or is this all about the not-so-well-built MIUI6 on this device? I REALLY hoped the MI4I would be a good replacement...

This device does heat up, install some app like coolify and Cpu Temperature and check what temperature your battery and cpu reaches.

I'm not a big gamer by any counts, but downloaded modern combat 5 yesterday (its free at the moment). I played very smoothly, played only for about 5-10 mins. I'm running rooted stock 11S (05Q). No kernel or CPU tweaks. I would also play leo's fortune, angry birds and crossy road and performance has been fine for me. What setup are you running?

Same issue here. Recieved my OnePlus one yesterday and simple games like flappy Bird lag a lot and on a game like circle the touch registers a little to late sometimes.
On my Note 4 everything is smooth

Well its weird considering that the OnePlus one is better than all of the devices you have listed. Excluding the note 4 of course. Ive had the iphone 6+ for a couple of days and hated it so much I sold it after few days. The battery there although better than its predecessors is still a joke. Lg g3 is nothing special. And I had a chance to play with the nexus 6. Nothing special, battery isn't too great though I liked the stock cm12. Note 4 best. But then again our beloved touchwiz Hana. So yeah, 1+1 is the best option for me. I had no problems whatsoever on stock cm11s . no lags, great battery life and good performance overall. I'm thinking there might be some hardware issues with yours otherwise, idk. Send a ticked on 1+ website perhaps they can help. BTW. I play asphalt 8 without any lags or anything so there must be something wrong with your device hardware if all your setting are set good

Got only one info that is this update reduces heat/thermal algorithm improvement.
I wonder there has been a marginal battery life improvement(not sure though) as the earlier version 6.5.4.0 I felt that battery drain was high.
Thanks
Just my thought! I feel as if I'm getting more screen time with the same kind of usage after the 6.5.5.0 update. Shared my usage details here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=60970024
Battery (screen time)
The phone also seems slower than before. Maybe they've tweaked the cpu governor parameters to make it less aggressive, making it cooler but at the cost of snappiness.

Yes this update was mainly for the overheating issues from the above two comments it seems this is update is doing good and i agree on the screen time to maybe others should help by giving their reviews with the new update

I saw significant improvement in battery drain after the 6.5.5.0 update. Prev it used to drain approx 1% every 10-15 minutes on idle, now its quite stable and sticking up longer!

[Q] S6 Lag :(

Im coming from a Moto x 2014 and was amazing and 0 lag.
No i have an 32 gigs s6 but i fighting with the lag.
Sometimes runs smoothly and sometimes lags every time,
I get into recovery a wipe cache and nothing, any idea to fix this?
I have the new 5.1.1 france rom and my model is 920F
Regards.
Can't help you as I don't have the 5.1.1 ROM yet, but have no lag on 5.0.2. The other thing is, lag is subjective. The Moto X 2014 certainly does lag on certain actions such as facebook etc.
If you haven't already, after a ROM update it's always usefull to factory reset if you've backed everything up.
5.1.1 runs nearly equal to 5.0.2 on power saving mode .. mainly the effect is on scrolling. I always used 5.0.2 on power saving as it would suffice
Ok, ill try a factory reset again in 5.1.1
Thankyou
I had minimal lag and decent battery life on 5.0.2. Upgraded to 5.1.1 and that all changed. Scrolling lag, terrible stand by drain... And I factory reset after upgrading.

Although it's only $1.50, I don't want to spend money on an app just to test it.
Also, reverting to the stock theme instead of the new "material" theme has seemed to help my lag issue a bit.

Same observation here. The new Material theme makes the scrolling worse on 5.1.1 and also a few other themes does the same detriment to UI fluidity. I had downloaded like 12 different themes and now deleting one by one after testing them out and keeping only those which do not affect fluidity...
I'm not even using Samsung Launcher.. Nova Launcher ftw
No lag out of the ordinary on 5.0.2... Haven't received the new OTA yet
I've found the same - themes can cause noticeable lag.
Package Disabler Pro totally works with 5.1.1. I only have a weird bug with Hangouts.apk, but you can disable this app via the traditional manager so thats not a problem.
About the lags and so, i also have some from time to time. I'd say the overall butterness feeling is lower than what i used to have with my Nexus 5 (+ franco kernel and a great rom). I noticed some real laggy actions with both 5.0.2 and 5.1.1.
BTW Knox is a real pain in the ass. Denying you all hardware warranty just because you changed the ROM or recovery is lame.

Bloatware installed by Samsung. Some of those apps you will never use actually start themselves in the background. Just go see by yourself in your running apps manager.
The app also help you to debloat by colouring known "useless" apps (by useless, I mean nor the phone or the system need them to operate properly)

It is not lame as custem ROM can cause overheating or to high voltage on some sensitive parts that can easily burn and then when phone is usuble but some part doesn't work there is no certen way of determining how it got broken in the first palace and it is more easily blamed on root and custom recovery's...

I HAD to click "thanks" for this, you actually made me smile. Sure, sure, custom roms do burn phones ;-p
Well, i guess you said that seriously. Modern CPUs in our phones (just as those in our computers since the Core series) are very well protected against oveheating and will nearly NEVER burn or damage themselves nor the circuitry around. You may unlock FSB or change voltage as you want if you changed the kernel (not your average root user though), HW will always be protected since the device will stop operating itself immediately if it is too hot. Only thing that may happen if your not-so-average root user is also stupid enough, is not being able to reboot the device himself if risky settings (like very low voltage) are set to boot with without testing. Big deal, since you have access to a custom recovery to change that anyway.

I tend to stay away from root as possible as I am not really experienced enough ... And I hardly find a good tutorial that is really conclusive ... On the other hand every phone I had was chosen because I liked all of the aspects of it ... So I really never had the need for root ... And not to mention one experience when one time I did root ... And it was with S4 ... And in the end it was extremely close to having phone that dose not work ...and bad experience in all that is actually that phone was working as it should before rooting and after it never really did work good ...

Pretty choppy indeed. I guess that depends what you are used to though. Considering the hardware there is no reason to worry, this slugginess will probably be cured soon (via samsung updates or custom roms). But i never suspected my good old nexus 5 would actually be more fluid even at start.

Hey i did factory reset but the same and more overheatings lag and etc. Any solution to cool down my cpus temp and less lag . i feel bad about this phone its really beautiful it deserves more
As for me. My phone is much smoother on mm then lollipop rooted and governors. Maybe couple h less battery, but games run much better. Nfs no limits was lagging as hell before. After upgrade it runs decent. Not perfect, but at least twice better than before.
Im not experiencing any overheating problems nor lags, everything is fast, especially compared to 5.1.1. Antutu is however the same as before, nothing really impressive, but i dont care that much. However, what others say that they got SOT about 4 hours,in experiencing SOT 2hrs at max, really often about +/-1h 30min which is really strange and together with small storage only downside of this phone.
To your problem, maybe the OS wasnt installed well or there might be an app that causes this slow down, check it in settings which app takes so much RAM and try to shut it down/uninstall when isnt needed. If that wont help, then all you can do is download KDZ with 5.1.1,load it and then maybe try to reload the 6.0.1. But dont be surprised if you jump from the one app to another that your system slows down, especially with just 2GB RAM it takes when its fully loaded. And heating while gaming is quite normal, every phone does that sooner or later,we are unlucky because of SD 810 it happens sooner.

I still got 170K on AnTuTu an about 3200 on 3dmark slingshot extreme... And I still feel some fps drops in PUBG Mobile (it don't happen on OnePlus 6).

That's odd because I read an article on XDA yesterday about frame drops on the One Plus 6. Not a user post--an article by someone with programming knowledge who talked about the poor EAS implementation on the OnePlus 6. But he also specifically mentioned the frame drops on that phone.
9.5.20.0 is still MIUI 9 or MIUI 10?

Same "issue" was reported by ppl when update from .4 to .19. The solution is to wipe all data. Probably it will work again this time.
I did not get this update until now.

This is a good thing to know because with this information you gave we can be almost certain that it is something with the benchmark program and the ROM. Probably after the first uses something messes up and you will have to keep wiping in order to maitain the scores.
Can anyone confirm that hidden folders in the gallery will be deleted with the Update? I lost one folder...
i have bad perfomance and low score in all benchmarks with 9.5.20.0 global estable i did hard reset and works good one or two day and broken perfomance again, this is a fking ****
broken performance on a SD845 ???
This is just ridiculous!
If you bought this phone just to show your friends who has the highest score...well you´re screwed.
But you can change that....try Miui 10 latest global stable BETA....nothing changes if you ask me as a user...but your eyes will pop out seeing 260tsd+ scores.
Kids... deactivate animation and run useless AnTuTu, than you will get your useless score.
