Im coming from a Moto x 2014 and was amazing and 0 lag.
No i have an 32 gigs s6 but i fighting with the lag.
Sometimes runs smoothly and sometimes lags every time,
I get into recovery a wipe cache and nothing, any idea to fix this?
I have the new 5.1.1 france rom and my model is 920F
Regards.
Can't help you as I don't have the 5.1.1 ROM yet, but have no lag on 5.0.2. The other thing is, lag is subjective. The Moto X 2014 certainly does lag on certain actions such as facebook etc.
If you haven't already, after a ROM update it's always usefull to factory reset if you've backed everything up.
5.1.1 runs nearly equal to 5.0.2 on power saving mode .. mainly the effect is on scrolling. I always used 5.0.2 on power saving as it would suffice
Ok, ill try a factory reset again in 5.1.1
Thankyou
I had minimal lag and decent battery life on 5.0.2. Upgraded to 5.1.1 and that all changed. Scrolling lag, terrible stand by drain... And I factory reset after upgrading.

Although it's only $1.50, I don't want to spend money on an app just to test it.
Also, reverting to the stock theme instead of the new "material" theme has seemed to help my lag issue a bit.

Same observation here. The new Material theme makes the scrolling worse on 5.1.1 and also a few other themes does the same detriment to UI fluidity. I had downloaded like 12 different themes and now deleting one by one after testing them out and keeping only those which do not affect fluidity...
I'm not even using Samsung Launcher.. Nova Launcher ftw
No lag out of the ordinary on 5.0.2... Haven't received the new OTA yet
I've found the same - themes can cause noticeable lag.
Package Disabler Pro totally works with 5.1.1. I only have a weird bug with Hangouts.apk, but you can disable this app via the traditional manager so thats not a problem.
About the lags and so, i also have some from time to time. I'd say the overall butterness feeling is lower than what i used to have with my Nexus 5 (+ franco kernel and a great rom). I noticed some real laggy actions with both 5.0.2 and 5.1.1.
BTW Knox is a real pain in the ass. Denying you all hardware warranty just because you changed the ROM or recovery is lame.

Thanks for testing this as my S6 duos not yet received 5.1.1 and since xposed not supported S6 yet the Greenify isn't working out fully on S6. Package Disabler Pro is the only one who can replace Greenify now until xposed supports 64bit OS.

Bloatware installed by Samsung. Some of those apps you will never use actually start themselves in the background. Just go see by yourself in your running apps manager.
The app also help you to debloat by colouring known "useless" apps (by useless, I mean nor the phone or the system need them to operate properly)

It is not lame as custem ROM can cause overheating or to high voltage on some sensitive parts that can easily burn and then when phone is usuble but some part doesn't work there is no certen way of determining how it got broken in the first palace and it is more easily blamed on root and custom recovery's...

I HAD to click "thanks" for this, you actually made me smile. Sure, sure, custom roms do burn phones ;-p
Well, i guess you said that seriously. Modern CPUs in our phones (just as those in our computers since the Core series) are very well protected against oveheating and will nearly NEVER burn or damage themselves nor the circuitry around. You may unlock FSB or change voltage as you want if you changed the kernel (not your average root user though), HW will always be protected since the device will stop operating itself immediately if it is too hot. Only thing that may happen if your not-so-average root user is also stupid enough, is not being able to reboot the device himself if risky settings (like very low voltage) are set to boot with without testing. Big deal, since you have access to a custom recovery to change that anyway.

I tend to stay away from root as possible as I am not really experienced enough ... And I hardly find a good tutorial that is really conclusive ... On the other hand every phone I had was chosen because I liked all of the aspects of it ... So I really never had the need for root ... And not to mention one experience when one time I did root ... And it was with S4 ... And in the end it was extremely close to having phone that dose not work ...and bad experience in all that is actually that phone was working as it should before rooting and after it never really did work good ...

Pretty choppy indeed. I guess that depends what you are used to though. Considering the hardware there is no reason to worry, this slugginess will probably be cured soon (via samsung updates or custom roms). But i never suspected my good old nexus 5 would actually be more fluid even at start.

i am on 5.1.1 since yesterday, so it's hard to say, but it's still present, maybe a bit better but still needs improvements, and no you can't disable this "feature", if you root your phone you can make it better by changing some things in the build file....my normal ram usage is 80-85%, but even with that my phone doesn't lag at all....i would say we should wait a bit longer....i am sure samsung will fix this issue....maybe with 6.0...
Android is meant to have little free RAM. It's not like Windows.

This is the screenshot on 5.1.1 OF8 i dont know if it changed or not because I upgrade right when I got the phone so haven't not the icon on the previous version
today i tried to test the ram, i opened facebook, twitter, whatsapp, stock browser, dialer, contacts, messages, then i tried to switch between them, and the only app that reloaded all the time was facebook.....the stock browser didn't reload even once, and the web i opened is quit heavy with ton of ads and flash......so i guess it's for sure better than 5.0.2 but still not perfect...

I had frequent SOD so I couldn't use as needed reboot quite often. Wouldn't wake from any long period of standby.....could be kernel related and linked to double tap to wake.....

Ok, already downloaded and tried, no luck... Still not satisfied, too much noise on the photos, but I think I know what the problem is... I also have a LG G4, and the photos are superb, and comparing both phones is not really fair, but I'm forced to compare... But thanks for the camera app, going to keep it.
I've just flashed the rom and working perfect... Thanx man..
2 days edit;
just an issue for this rom, I got a little bit heated back near the camera. when screen is locked, it's 39 Celcius. but while I was using Whatsapp and Facebook I checked it in CPU-Z and around 55 Celcius. Is it normal?
...yes, I been noticing that too, I think that the kernel does not have any thermal control enabled by default, just go to Kernel Adiutor and enable the thermal option, enable Core Control only. It's pretty much just a guess, but I think it may solve the overheat problem... By default it doesn't seem to have any thermal control enabled, you have to manually enable it . The best way is to ask the developer, Nutsda, I'm pretty much just trying to get there...
Thermal control should be enabled by default, if it isn't then enable it using kernel auditor & yes it does seem to be normal, I was reading a while back that it is a issue with the chipset our phones use & other phones using the same chipset, to run hotter than most phones, sitting between 50 & 60 degrees in use. The only real way to lower the temp is to drastically reduce performance
True, it's pretty much confirmed, have done some research and this chipset caused heating problems to several smartphones, it's not even about the phone brand, it's pretty much about the Snapdragon 615. In my phone it easily gets 65.C, but it's not big deal, if it fries up Vodafone will have to give me another one.
can do a port of rom miui 8 or rom pac?
Hello i have the pixel for about 1 week and is really an amazing phone, the best android i have ever had probably, maybe in pair with HTC ONE M8, is near perfect but one of the points that keeps me on android is the posibility of customizing things and improve some thing about a phone, sound, camera, themes, battery, and many other factors.
I used to change phones so quickly since i buy and sell them and test in the while, but didnt find a phone good enough yet, and the pixel is near perfect in every way possible. But i see it almost has no development, i was surprised when i checked forums and didnt find much development.
Well lets go directly in my "problem" lets call it like that:
Things i would like to do on the Pixel are:
1- Customize themes, something like samsung and oneplus offers, the ability to change themes, like making it completely black in settings and menu.
2- Improve the sound, since this is one of the weakest points in the phone, i want to improve it and activate the frontal speaker.
3- Add Miracast, since i use a lot this and i dont know why google took it.
4- Improve a little more the battery, i have an excellent battery life on the pixel 5" like 5/6 hours of SOT in a whole day, but i thing it can goes a little better.
I know all of these can be done with root and custom kernel and roms, but i would like to know if i will lose something rooting and unlocking the bootloader.
For example in my previus Nexus 6P the camera has damaged after rooting then when returned to stock it worked back well.
1- Do i need to root to install any custom kernel and rom ?
2- Do i need to unlock bootloader to install custom kernel and rom?
For example im planning to put franco kernel and pure nexus rom, i will lose something doing this?do i have to unlock bootloader to do this?
Thank you very much for your answers. Regards
You will need to unlock bootloader to do any mods. Even to root.
Personally I use Pure Nexus ROM and it's amazing. Full themeing with Substratum is there. Lots of tweaks. There is a WETA mod for audio that adds Viper4Android driver.
Two Roms that seem to be very stable are Pure Nexus and Dirty Unicorns.

Thanks for the fast answer. So I don't lose anything opening the bootloader? And what about battery life. On stock in getting superb battery life. You use any custom kernel?
By the questions you asked I take it you're pretty new at installing custom roms? I'd say don't do it and be happy with what you get with stock Android. Bet you 10 to 1 you'll brick your Pixel.

Unlocking the bootloader will wipe your data so if you decide to do it, back things up first.

No i am not new at all in this I have installed custom Roms on hundreds of devices from different Brands. I have been customized phone since Sony Ericsson devices before android. But any device is different is not the same procedure to root unlock and install things on Samsung Motorola and HTC any has its own way.
I just asking these because I'm Nexus devices rooting caused camera problems. And the pixel is so amazing like it it's already not like most devices that needs several things to work good. But if I can improve some things without loosing anything I would like to install customs and mods.

Just for my 2 cents, regarding battery life I've tried stock, stock rooted, PureNexus, and custom kernels. By far the best battery life has been stock + rooted with Greenify using aggressive doze and hibernating many apps. I actually had much worse battery life with PureNexus and both Franco kernel and stock, lots of wake locks.

I still get notifications in near real-time. I think what you're talking about is when you hibernate apps. I have some social media apps not hibernated, and those come through while my phone is idle with the screen off, while apps that are hibernated come through delayed which I don't mind.
Just to throw in my opinion, most Google devices (Nexus and Pixel) have enough hardware power to last beyond the support life cycle. If this is your daily driver, I'd wait and research until you no longer receive new versions of the OS. At that point tweak the phone to your heart's content. That's just my opinion though.

Stock vs ROM
I ran stock for a while and tried PureNexus. I love the PureNexus ROM, and I can't say I had any problems running it. I tried installing the Hexa ROM, but I could never get it to install the GAPPs correctly, so I reverted back to PureNexus. I've run it rooted and unrooted, no difference that I can see, other than running some apps like Titanium backup and I want to know if something is trying to request root access.
So I been following the Pixel and Pixel XL forum for a while now, it seems like xposed and rom developement is either slow or in the case of xposed framework none existence. I think the S7 edge under Marshmallow will be the best phone with the best android firmware for a while... so to those who would want to update to the latest and greatest, realized that xposed might not even reach Samsung Nougat for a long time.
The next best thing I found was the Oneplus 3t which have MM out of the box, however you can opt for installation of Nougat if you like. CM13 is still available and there are dev for it. other than that, I dont see any other phone beating the S7 edge Exynos version.
Have to disagree. Running Nought on a freshly reset phone was the best move for me. Very snappy. I recommend the upgrade.

I have! I've tried both vanilla, and a custom rom with all the trimmings.
Agree i went back to mm after 3 months of N since beta, yes N is a bit snappier but for the cost of bad battery life, mm is still fast and remember s7 edge has a fast hardware so its very unlikely to face lags etc.
Mm is fast reliable and xposed is ready to be used !
If Xposed it holding you back, you should rethink the advantages. GraceUI is prettier and has a lot of nifty little additions, Android N itself has some and overall its snappier.
I used to be an Xposed hog. But I could find alternatives for pretty much everything. I miss Gravitybox-level customisations but, solid custom roms such as Renovate make up for it! For Snapprefs, I use Casper, adblock by Adaway, etc..
From testing multiple ROMs
Marshmallow - Best standby time, most editable
Nougat - Worse battery life, smoother (not necessarily faster).

WIll you Google account not be banned when using Casper?
I love snapprefs, not because of the saving/uploading/filter features, but mostly beacuse blocking preload and background loading of stories etc, Snapchat is a real battery hogger and has taken the wrong direction.
I also wanna update to N, but some of the xposed features are holding me back
Snapprefs
Youtube background play
AppsOpsXposed
Greenify
MinMinGuard
Rootcloack
Xtouchwiz
I need the rootcloack for my banking apps, can not login without root.

there are xposed modules that could save you money, someone in here already listed it, so I wont mention it again, trying to keep it discrete so it could last a while. Grace UI is also on the Note 7 rom, which i am running from Rennovate, so I am not missing anything.

Casper can be used with a new Google account. It hasn't banned me for anything so far. But make sure you don't login to Casper. Use it as a root session. This means you still need Snapchat to be installed. Plus Casper doesn't support chat function yet... So you can't completely replace Snapchat either.
YouTube background play can be done via a cracked apk. I think OGtube? Honestly not sure about this.
Appops is not something I've used, but Android 7 allows you to modify permissions and I use a firewall AFwall+.
Greenify works completely fine without Xposed. I've been very happy with it.
Minmin.. AdAway does the job for me very well.
Rootcloack is similar to Magisk. You can get past safety net with it.
Xtouchwiz has no equivalent but there are many customizations baked into the ROM I use-Renovate. And I think Superman ROM has equally or more.
I'm sure others will have more alternatives!
Nougat on s7 edge really transforms the phone in all aspects. The UI is prettier, snapier, smoother, with more options. The whole experience of using the phone is improved by 100%.
As regards battery life, at least my Exynos variant, is much much better when it comes to battery. The doze mode works better, and in general I get fantastic SoT.
Maybe nougat is optimized currently for the Exynos processor...? and maybe in some further updates the nougat firmware will be improved for the SnapDragon variant models ?
I know it doesn't help at all saying it, but with Nougat I have significantly more battery life. I'm talking 1 to 2+ hours more! The other day I was watching a YouTube playlist after work and fell asleep. I woke up the next day to the phone still playing videos. Battery was at 2% and I had 10h and 6m of SoT. I have 100+ apps installed. Not rooted.

No, none at all. My only explanation would that I don't use social media apps, except for the occasional tweet and some lurking on G+ and Reddit.

I never had problems get "hacked" either. But it is a fact that your rooted phone (and definitely with Xposed Framework) are more prone to attacks and other kind of malicious things, while bugs also happen far more. It's not even a debate you can have, as it's a well-known fact in the Android universe, which is also the reason many devs don't recommend or support it on their rom. The logcat is filled bugs, even though you don't see them, they're there and both slow down phone, drain battery and cause other problems and now or then bugs will happens that will be irritating like apps crashs.
We could just as well argue for the earth being round or flat, where you were on the flat side.
How is your opinion about this ROM.
It is very good and customizable with a ton of options.
Only thing that is boring sometimes is lag when open apps. Waiting for 4-5 seconds to.open it.
Does someone know how to avoid that lag?

You can try to install the hate kernel, because their cpu scheduling is different, it may improve your experience.

I haven't found an Oreo ROM for 4C that equals a Nougat ROM ( for example, AEX or RR) in terms of speed and lagness.

Do you have those videos? I'm curious (pm me if you cant post them here).
Tried with 1.5b hate kernel...laggines is still present.
Cdroid maintener Vovan77 will not support this Rom anymore.
Now I am on RR and there is less lags but it is present.

Thanks, man, I got your link
But messing in the Settings, menus and that kind of stuff on a fresh installation seems to me the same as in Nougat. On my phone, lag appears in crDroid O (and all the Oreo builds) when I'm switching and reloading apps, with many apps installed and many processes running in the background. In this situation (regular use, not setting up the phone) I feel Nougat is better than Oreo.

Well, I'm not really complaining about Oreo, I know it was a hard work for its developers and builders and all the enthusiastic guys involved. The real accomplish was to be able to install and use Oreo for Mi 4C, almost bug-free. There are many alternatives to Oreo for Mi4C, even now, when devs are leaving its boat for other devices. MIUI 10 it's on its way, but LOS 14.1 is still developing - great work!
Personally, I'm using latest AEX Nougat and I'm happy.

Hello. Vovan77 has updated to Pie and it looks great. It's snappy at first look but multitasking has lag and battery life is terrible pls fix
First build > https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=11410963190603894192
edit: unless my battery is shot, gone. I don't know I'm getting terrible battery life.
edit: I have ordered a replacement battery it looks like mine is gone. I will update here after fitting it into the phone.

Hi Gourcuff14.
I have tried to run this rom, but it hangs on "G" logo (longer than half an hour). Installation was without error (but first I had to avoid error 7).
What version of TWRP are You using?

Hello 1q1q. I've been using
TWRP 3.2.3-0_libra.img

Try updating firmware if you are still on an old one but that generally shows up during install.

Hi Gourcuff 14.
Thanks for yours tips. It was necessary to wipe also data (internal storage) to avoid bootloop. All apps, contacts restored.
I'm giving up - no dialer during incoming call.
LineageOS ftw
I use LineageOS found here for some half a year without any issues as a daily driver.
The only two things that i found missing are no vibration and the fact i can not find a way to activate Camera2API, so i can not use Gcam mods. But these are not really an issue tbh.
