Solution for auto call recording. - HTC Desire S

Hi,
this topic should be probably posted in development, but I havent enough posts, so I put it here.
I have tried many applications for this, but they didnt work properly. Always was problem that my voice was loud and other side was too low. Every app use microphone. The reason for this is that the call is running in the level of OS with high security. So when you want clean real voice, you need special kernel, ROM and App with superuser permition.
MIUI ROM contains all these requirements.
In the phone App (when you are calling) under "Tools" you can record the call manually. But the solution for Automatic 2-way call recording is:
Go to phone app with dialer->Menu->Settings->Other call settings->Record automatically->Switch On. Calls are now automatic recorded when connected and save it to SD card. Recordings are stored in E:\MIUI\sound_recorder\call_rec in *.amr file format. Recordings are best.
!Notice!
After S-Off with Revolutionary you have Hboot 6.98.1002. On this Hboot for some reason you cannot install MIUI, so you have to upgrade to 6.98.2000 or 0.98.2000. You can have stock Hboot too. Dont forget to instal CWM.
I used CoreDroid for long time, but I switched to MIUI for many reaons: I like the MIUI launcher inpirated from iOS. MIUI is really good customizable. Contacts app works very good with Google contacts. Life on battery is much longer then with Sense, it is no problem to use the phone 2 days without charging. Torch works with locked screen, screenshots from system bar, system updates and more. Dont worry about MIUI

This is why new users are not allowed to post in development section.

This got nothing to do with development and btw read more about bootloaders before you post something like this.
Swyped from my desire s running damn sweet ice cream

I am using the Call Recorder PRO by ERA Ltda, is inexpensive and is working in ICS.
It only changes to "Voice Uplink" recording mode.

Loving the new ICS from Android Revolution 6.0.2

I just wanna share my experience of using the Android Revolution HDâ„¢ 6.0.2...
so far so good although at first when i flash the rom i was stuck at the bootloader because i thought the firmware can be flashed but it turn out that when you had already flash the rom you will have to go to hboot screen to update the firmware package but all in all i am very statisfied with this rom....
things that i liked-
-battery performance lasted a couple more hours longer... maybe because i flash the radio as well but i did see a little bit of difference..
-faster startup
-very user friendly interface
-so far after 5 days my phone had never crash even once
things that i dont like-
-i cant seem to open premium navigation for in htc locations after validating my licences... it always says htc location is stopping....
however i can use google location.... so for me this is good enough but if anyone has any solution do share it with me.... thx
Any random reboots or shutdowns?
Sent from my MIUI.us Sensation 4G using XDA App
Nice to know there are people satisfied as well. I see lots of trouble around, mostly with the new firmware/hboot.
I'll wait for the stable version though.
so far no random reboots or shutdown... yea people are having trouble with new firmware but once you start using ics its totally worth it your long hours of reading...
How easy for the firmware update? Did you have to change that text file within a zip?
the firmware update when i downloaded it was already in zip format... so i just place it in my sd card... so when you enter hboot screen it will automatically update...
Just had a random reboot using camera.
Gallery is very buggy as well as ringtones
hmm... did not occur in my sensation... probably u should try superswipe again... update firmware again... and flash boot...N try updating the radio as well.... gd luck... so far so good for me.. on my sixth day and rocking..

Q 2: My Premium Navigation doesn't work correctly. What should I do?
A: Your Premium Navigation may not work correctly for many reasons. Most of them are not ROM related. You can try the following things:
- reinstall your Locations under "Settings" ---> "Locations"
- remove /sdcard/.data/navigator/Data/Temporary from your SD card
- re-download Google Maps from the Android Market
- clear data from Google Maps in system software management

I'm actually really tempted to switch from 3.6.x to the ICS version. But I think I can wait a bit longer. Read in another thread that HTC's going to release their ICS in a couple of weeks.
Been using ARHD for a couple of months now and overall I am happy but now I am thinking of making the move to the ICS version of the rom and was wandering what the main benefits/difference are
With Sense? Sense is pretty much senseless with all the functionality of ICS. ICS core is about 120 MB and the sense ROMS are close to 400MB imagine how much faster your phone would run without Sense. Also any issues with contact merge?
Luv'n ICS and I'm on Virtuous 2.0.1 Senseless!
what you mean by "remove /sdcard/.data/navigator/Data/Temporary from your SD card".... should i delete this folder (temporary folder in data)...
"re-download Google Maps from the Android Market" i have search in android market there is no google maps app in there.... in the market it only has only "a google map navigation book"....
N wat do you mean by "clear data from Google Maps in system software management".... sorry i am not that clever.... thx in advance
I have the same problem too...
Still can not figure how to solve this....
Maybe i just go back to ARHD 3.6.12 until the ICS more stable...
Been using ARHD 6.0.2 for the whole weekend, and i must say that i'm loving it, just had one FC on whatsapp, other thant that is great. I have been all day long updating my spotify playlist in wifi and still remains more than 15% of the battery. Great job with the rom

I quote myself because i found something annoying, not serious, but was wondering if someone else had noticed it. It affects the power button, sometimes it does not work, i mean, if the phone is swithced off, when i press the button, nothing happens if i don't remove the battery and place it again. It also happens trying to wake the phone.
Maybe it has something to do with the Fastboot option?
Thanks again
i still havent manage to get my premium navigation to work... htc location map is working fine... what i mean is that if i open the normal htc map using the location it can open but when i change to driving mode it crashes... anyway manage to get papago to work for me after tweaking and playing with the resolution settings and the app called spare parts... anyway if anyone find any more solutions regarding htc location fix do tell me.. have tried tons of ways but still it keeps on crashing... amazingly the other features of my phone is working superbly fine... not even a single crash for more than one week... only once i have to reboot my phone when it could not connect to wifi after 3-4 days.... Not perfect but way better than gingerbread...

[MOD] Enable Call Recorder Functionality on ROMS Besides Sky ICS 2.3.5

ENABLE CallRecorder API RECORDING FUNCTIONALITY ON ROMS BESIDES SKY ICS 2.3.5(AND ICS LEAKS)
This thread is for those of us who wish to have the ability to use CallRecorder, but would rather not use seanzscreams' Sky ICS 2.3.5, a Roger's UXJK7-based ROM, or an ICS leak. If you're running Sky ICS 2.3.5 or an ICS leak, this thread shouldn't concern you as these ROMs have this functionality built in. If you're using a Roger's-based ROM, this probably doesn't apply to you either. The bottom line: If CallRecorder works for you, that's terrific. You can go find a cure for cancer, or pop that giant zit on your back that's growing a goatee. Either way, I don't care. But please, stop wasting everyone's time with your false-positive statements saying that CallRecorder works for everybody. IT DOESN'T WORK FOR EVERYBODY. CAPISCE?
I've been having select individuals test this out for a short time now, and it seems to work rather well on a number of different ROMs. So far, it's been reported to me that this works on Romracer's 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, and faux's 2.3.6 kernels, as well as AlienROM and NexusMOD 2.x-4.x. I'm sure it works on others as well, so give it a shot and post your experiences for everyone's benefit.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok, so basically there's a reason why all the different call recorder apps you've already tried aren't working (Total Recall, newer versions of Call Recorder). You can thank AT&T for this, plainly and simply. Their Stalinist codemonkeys sucked this capability out of your device. So to remedy this, what we have here are some modified libaudio libraries and an app called CallRecorder. These modified libaudio files will remove the Goebbels garbage that AT&T left behind and allow CallRecorder to record 2-way conversations directly from the Android API (not the speakerphone), and, as far as I know, without beeps.
Standard Disclaimer: I won't take responsibility for anything that might go wrong. I seriously suggest that you do a nandroid backup in CWM before starting this procedure. And, in the likely event that this does work for you, just hit the thanks button on your way outta town. Thank you..
First, you need to be rooted with ClockWorkMod Recovery already flashed. If you are, proceed. If not, there are threads in the Development section that will help you accomplish this. These directions assume that you have a basic operational understanding of ClockWorkMod Recovery. With that being said, here's what you need to do.
1. Do a nandroid backup in CWM. JUST DO IT.
2. Download "call_rec_libs_skyrocket_2.3.5.zip" and "CallRecorder_v.1.2.2_trial.zip" below.
3. Flash "call_rec_libs_skyrocket_2.3.5.zip" in CWM.
4. "Wipe cache partition" and "Wipe dalvik cache" in CWM.
5. Reboot and make sure you have "Unknown Sources" checked in Settings-->Applications. Then extract "CallRecorder_v.1.2.2_trial.apk" from "CallRecorder_v.1.2.2_trial.zip", copy it onto your phone and install it. Once the installation is complete, you can un-check "Unknown Sources" if you wish maintain the security of your phone in that way.
6. Open CallRecorder, then hit the menu touch key (lower left corner, next to home), and then go to Preferences.
7. Change the "Record calls from" option from "Kernel with 2-way call recording patch" to "Standard Android API"
8. Customize any other settings if you wish, and then call your mom (or voicemail ) to test the 2-way recording functionality.
9. Complete the call, then open CallRecorder. You should see the recorded call on the screen. Touch it to play back the call. To your amazement, you should hear both sides of the conversation.
10. Live long and prosper..
Thanks goes out to noodles2224, who lent me his updated copy of CallRecorder for tesing purposes (which I have now purchased from the Market). Credit for the libaudio files goes to seanzscreams (as far as I know, I have no idea where he got them from), and skvalex for CallRecorder. All I did was put 2 and 2 together and throw the libaudio files into a CWM flashable zip.
CallRecorder is an app that's found on Android Market, and the version that I've attached is a trial only. Support the developer (skvalex) by purchasing the full version from the Market here ($5). I'm sure skvalex spent A LOT of time creating this app, so show this Russian bad-ass that you appreciate his work and help him justify all that time spent. If you do buy it from the Market, be sure to uninstall the trial version beforehand.
On a side note, FUGG YOU AT&T. I know you troll these walls.. I don't like being controlled. Leave your tyrannical codemonkey bulls)-(|t north of the 38th Parallel, where it belongs.
Bump. Many thanks. Been looking for these.

Does this work on a stock odexed 2.3.6 ROM? It says it works on one of the 2.3.6 kernals, but that's different than stock.
Thanks for this MOD. ANything that puts the phone the way it should be (without AT&Ts BS) is a step in the right direction.

But honestly, please leave the political comments out of your post... really. I have no problem with your dislike of communists, but there's no need to dictate that here.
PS....
Call recorder from market works on stock unrooted SR. Option for kernel selected in settings or Android API.

I'll bet you a shiny quarter that you either 1) have an SGH-i727R or 2) you're using a UXKJ7-based ROM.
The Roger's base doesn't appear to suffer from the same "deficiency" as the UCKJ2 base. I guess I should have mentioned that..
Either way, I'm glad it works for you. However, not everyone is having the same good fortune..

I admit, not very PC language, even though I had no intention of offending anyone. I'll try to take it down a notch in the future. For the record, I don't dislike communists. I have Chinese friends, and I'm certain there's many nice people whom I'll never meet living in North Korea. It's more-so the establishment of despotism and any oppressive deviation thereof that I don't particularly care for.

Odexed shouldn't make any difference. The libraries have no .odex counterpart, and you can still install deodexed .apks on an odexed ROM. Make a nandroid backup, and give it whack.

The libraries aren't optimized. odex/deodex doesn't matter.

A "thanks" will have to suffice. haha
Yep, it's true. The very first thing I did was purchase the Market version. After ten minutes of frantically experimenting will all the program options and still no joy, I hit the refund button. Then I embarked on this "crusade"..
The second I dropped those libaudio libraries in there, *p00f!* It magically started working..
I will concede that when I first started looking, I found an old, deprecated alpha version of CallRecorder that, for some strange reason did work half-assedly. Nothing newer than that did, though.
You have me thinking now....
My veraon was from the market but I am rooted and rom'd. I did a data and apk restore to my brothers phone. Knowing it can modify anything if it isn't rooted I wonder now why it worked. My bud just got the SR and the market one didn't work but he removed and installed my backup and it did. He's stock no root also. Now I'm just confused about it lol.

You're very welcome. I started recording all my calls when I got my Nokia N95 4 years ago, and I have no intention of stopping any time soon..
I even have SIPDroid recording all of my Google Voice calls now. CallRecorder's great and all, but the compressed 64 kilobit audio of a VOIP call makes these sound RIDICULOUS.
Now if I could only figure out how to get the DTMF tones to work flawlessly.....
Please confirm, Can I use it on my Galaxy S with CodeNameAndroid 1.4.0 ROM ? Thanks!
This is great! Anyone had luck with Total Recall yet?
I'm still using a backup of the call recorder from skyics rom. Worked on the note, captivate, several skyrockets, an aria and a bunch of other devices also. I've just restored to each phone from my tibu backup and no probably at all on any of them.

I intalled this a couple of days ago and here is my review...
As always FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS IN THE OP TO THE LETTER!
Here are a couple of things that may be of interest. Of course, this is how it works on my phone...how it works on yours may differ. I am using the ALien 6 ROM (and loving it!).
1. The trial version of CallRecorder included in the OP only let me open it one time before it said the trial was up. This wasn't a huge problem for me because I was planning on buying the full version anyway to support the DEV and get the fully functional version. I would have liked to do some testing before the purchase, but everything worked out good anyway. The App's Dev claims there is a place here on XDA that you can get the trial, so maybe it will give you more time than the version in the OP does. It IS worth the purchase though. And as stated, make sure you delete the trial version before installing the full (purchased) version.
2. On my phone, the recorder works great. It even records both sides of the conversation while using bluetooth. Several people in the Google Play page claim the person on the other end of the line cannot be heard. In my case, there is a slight drop in volume from the original conversation to the recorded version, but it is not huge. I could clearly hear both sides of the recorded converstation without touching the volume control...but there is a slight difference.
3. The app works great. There is an option to set it to vibrate once recording starts and stops but I haven't used it. There is an icon that stays on the top notification area of the screen while the app is active. It changes color while a conversation is recorded. SO, basically, it isn't even noticed while it is doing its thing. There isn't a way to easily turn the app off once it is activated. It runs as a service on the phone until the service is physically stopped (through settings) but it is not a big deal. There is no noticible battery usage or anything else when it is active and you never know when a call comes in that you want to record so its a good thing it runs as a service. The phone deep sleeps just fine with it running. A toggle would be nice...maybe with the ability to pause and resume recording at choice, but I didn't notice any such feature. However, there are several configurable points within the app's settings that I haven't tried that seem to allow exceptions and rules for which calls are recorded and how they are recorded. There seems to be alot of such options.
4. The recorded quality of the call is great (even with the before mentioned volume difference). You can choose between several formats for the call to be saved in and you can chose where the calls are saved to. Remeber, the app records the call as you hear it. This means if you are in a bad connection area where words are droped or slurred or where there is a lot of static that the recording will reflect it. Its not the apps fault, it is the connections fault.
5. Someone on the Google Play site made a comment about being able to add notes to recordings...well, guess what, you can! If you long touch the redording, a menu of options appears. Some of them are "delete" "move", and yes "add note" as well as many others.
To sum it up, this works great! If anything happens or if I think of anything else that someone else might want to know about it I will post it here. Enjoy!

general questions from a new andriod user useing the Huawei U8651T

Hi there, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I can't seem to post to the treads related to what about to ask.
I just got the t-mobile prism (aka: Huawei U8651T), Its my first android phone and a good step up from having used the nokia nuron 3250. I have to say I'm a little disappointed with the most simple things that this phone doesn't do and I'm already looking into at least rooting my phone if not installing a better rom (assuming there are better roms) and that is the purposed topic of this post.
I've read up on the "How to root Huawei U8651T http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1698905 and it seems easy enough to do but I want to make sure that rooting and/or flashing to a different rom will actually fix the small disappointments I've found in my phone. Here is the list...
1, Camera options suck in just about every way. There are pathetic presets to control the white balance and other setting. I've had more options on far lesser phones. Not to mention the poor interface in general.
2. the music player has extremely simple with no built in EQ at all. This one I did find a way to overcome with a small global eq but serously the built in stuff should at least have a preset eq like jazz, rock, bass, flat etc.
3. the alarm clock and texting sounds have to be tmo's preset stuff. I can't set either to a custom ringtone or mp3. Again I found a work around for the alarm clock but not the texting and all these extra programs is steeling away the little memory space this phone has.
4. and finally I have seen programs on the apps/programs list that I can't use or find anywhere else. I'm not talking about the ones that run in the background that run say the keyboard or hardware, I'm talking programs I should be able to use.The one that pops out first is the Sound Recorder. its on there but I can't find anyway to actually use it.
So here is my questions... Will rooting my phone give me a way to change some of these issues? Will installing a different rom?
I'm also instrested in knowing what the CyanogenMod 7.2 STABLE (2.3.7) 16-06-2012 rom is really like vs the stock rom and what other roms there are out there that will work on my phone. I use would like to hear from KrisM22 if your out there but I've love anyone's knowledgeable opinion. thanks for your help.
by rooting & installing CM7 you will solve all this problems coz CM7 provides a wide variety of functionality.
3. You can set custom ringtones and notification sounds very easily. Create a folder on sd card called "media" within that folder create another folder "audio" and within that create a folder called "ringtones" for ringtones and "notifications" for notification sounds.

Well once I commit to doing this I'll be backing up mine that I can send along to you. But tell me having run the other rom how does your phone like it? Does it address the issues I've posted? Give me your review please

Cool can tell me more about it? Do a review on it for me please
Well, I just like the way the screens look with the rom...you have to manually install a camera app, music app, and file manager, because the ZaD!!RoM didn't come with them. Also, the phone would shut down occasionally due to overclocking, so I had to adjust that too.
I guess what I'm saying is the ZaD!!RoM is good if you like to do a lot of your own customizing/tweaking. Otherwise, try the Cyanogenmod rom.
Good luck!

2. the music player has extremely simple with no built in EQ at all.

Removing these apps(With Titanium backup) and installing play store alternatives is a good start but cm works too.
Poweramp is a good music app that lets you tune eq with the freq.
Stock roms usually suck until they are messed with.
(As you can see I like to modify stock to my whims and I dont like custom roms, only custom kernels)
You can try my tool in my signature because it has a rooting feature.
But if your running android 4.0 or above it wont root
In that case you will have to look for device specific methods.

[Q] Best ROM for Bluetooth voice dialing, sync & speed?

Stupidly, I updated my T-Mobile Sensation 4G ROM to the OTA ICS 4.03 which, as most know, killed Bluetooth voice dialing and also mangled the auto-screen brightness. (And wow did TMO piss me off when they put that "upgrade" out with no warning about the functionality loss.)
I've tried workarounds like VLINGO and Assistant but they just aren't as simple or as reliable as I need or want. The old Google Voice dial app worked fine but alas, not through Bluetooth any more. So now I'm thinking -- new ROM.
I'm semi-used to flashing stuff with my old T-Mobile SDA and HTC Dash 3G. I've also rooted my Android Tablet (Cruz). But I'd totally put myself in the n00b class when it comes to what's out there for the Sensation 4G or where to start. So pardon the questions (and yes I've searched the forums).
1. What would be the easiest, full-featured stable ROM that would give me back my BT voice dialing while still preserving full HTC Sync capability? I depend on HTC Sync to link my phone with Outlook's calendar and contacts. I don't know if HTC Sync depends on HTC Sense but I'm guessing it does.
2. Battery life is important. I see that's a short coming for a number of ROMs. Would be nice to also have a fix for auto-screen brightness.
3. I use the camera, wi-fi, video and music player stuff a lot. I sometimes use Polaris Office.
4. Other parts of HTC Sense for me are sort of a mixed bag. I like some of the features like the widgets, news feeds and facebook/twitter integration. But it wouldn't kill me to use the separate apps.
5. The software I download and install from Play is mostly non-graphic games, utilities, stuff like that. So graphic gaming speed is not a priority but it's a would be nice.
6. My grandfathered data plan included tethering so I don't think I'm affected by the ICS update but then I haven't had need for it since I'm not traveling like I used to.
7. I'm not at all picky about how the UI "looks". I pretty much just have the calendar widget, clock, a few apps and the Assistant activation bar on my home screen.
8. Getting rid of the TMO bloatware and other things I never use would be cool too.
Any thoughts on where I should start? Recommended ROMs and a pointer to the best guide for doing what I need to do to install it would be great! And thanks to all the cookers and helpers here. When I find a ROM I like, I do donate.

HTC Sensation 4G Stock with ICS
Android version: 4.03
HTC Sense version: 3.6
Software number: 3.32.531.14 710RD
For the rom ARHD Tmobile one will be good for you
Now as for rooting
There are two ways for you
1.SOFF and then rom..This process can be two ways again
1a. It involves HTC-DEV unlock then doing soff..but the critical part of process(wire trick) is comparatively easier... Auggue2k guide on "juopuntbear soff" in sensation general section
1b. Soff without HTC-DEV.. But wire trick is bit harder than the other process.. Guide link in my signature
Once soff is done.. Look up for joaquinfs guide on flashing ARHD.. It's a sticky in sensation general section
2. Flashing roms while being SON.. This needs HTC-DEV unlock to be done.. Guide is by asskickars "flashing roms with SON" in sensation general section
Sent from my HTC Sensation using xda premium
Thanks ganeshp. I'll take a look at the ROM you suggested. Have to get myself a bit organized on all the steps. Looks like the HTC-DEV unlock is pretty straightforward so I'll probably go for your choice #2.

i really want an AOSP rom but....

Hello guys my HTC is getting slower and im thinking an AOSP rom could help am i right?
but 2 things is preventing me of installing one
the HTC's sync program: i cant find an alternative of it .... i mean htc sync syncs "all" new media to my pc but others like mobile go will backup the media to a file"file.bak" so i cant browse these media just restoring it to my mobile! or im missing something?
also i've tried double twist(its not syncing media from sub-folders like whatsapp) and my phone explorer(i couldn't understand it )
so its not as good as htc syc
the beats audio: most of these aosp roms has DSP manager which is not good and also microphone audio is bad and low so calling and voice
recording is not good
thanks guys i hope someone can help me out
Hello mhammadakkad,
definately true. I was using the InsertCoin Sense6 rom for quite some time. Switching to AndroGeek's CM12.1 rom was the best I could do to my old one mini
What do you want to sync? I have never been using HTC sync but if by "media" you mean the files on your sdcard partition, they are easily accessible using MTP mode.
As for Beats Audio, I think it is somewhat overrated. Audio quality is great with CM :good:

thanks for reply @encelados i will give it a try
i take a lot of photos and not every time i want to move these photos to my pc i have to look for them select copy past... kind of annoying
htc sync knows the new media and moves it automatically:good:
about audio quality i can ignore quality but i cant live with low mic volume
i will try cm12.1 i hope its good enough
Edit:
i flashed cm12.1 today its pretty awesome and smooth but VoIP calls isn't working !
VoIP not working seems to be microphone/speaker related. I can establish a VoIP call without a problem but I cannot hear anything and the callee can not hear me.
If however I press a number on the mobile, the callee can hear the corresponding tone on the other side. I am pretty sure this could be fixed as well as the problem with the low microphone sensitivity.
