My sensation 4G just wont update. I downloaded the software when i got a prompt for an auto update. Its approximately a 44mb file. After downloading comes the install now or later screen. After choosing the install now, phone goes into shutdown, restarts but them moves to a screen with a WHITE TRIANGLE, YELLOW EXCLAMATION AND A BLUE ANDROID besides it in the centre. Nothing happens post that. Last night i kept the phone in that state for a good 8 hrs hoping it will update, but nothing.. The only way i can start the phone is by removing the battery and starting the phone again..
Everything on the phone works fine. Market apps download and install fine.. I just cannot update the phone by default though..
Things that i have already tried..
-Deleted cache completely but still same error post a new update download and install
-post that did a complete reset, factory data reset. Redownloaded the update, still d same problem persists..
What more can i do? This update will take the phone so android 2.3.4 and sense version to 3.5.
Is the update available on the forum, by which i can download and transfer to the sd card and manually install and try??
Any suggestions are welcome at this time..
ps: I am a newbie to android, hence not considered custom roms yet
IF you have not done anything to your phone you should take it into a TMO store and show them the problem. I don't think there anything else you can do having not rooted or flashed.

The problem is, i am in India right now. Cant take it to one cause TMO doesnt exist here and HTC doesnt have a global warranty.
Does this look like a hardware issue?

Even though this is an older document. New updates work the same way.
http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-2392
Follow that for manual download and try that way.
Sir this is what i have been doing and it doesn't work.
Over the air or manually via menu, d end result is still the same.
By manual i meant if there is a physical file available to download which i can put on my sd card and then update it via system boot..
Can anyone tell me what exactly does the white triangle wit the yellow exclamation and blue android symbolize?

Hi,
I have a totally stock desire s from t-mobile Hungary. Today it gave me an option to install the new Sense 3.0 update.
Everything went fine, until it came to the screen with the phone icon and the red triangle with the (!)
When pulling the battery the phone starts rebooting after the HTC screen.
I tried to press vol up and power buttom it goes into the Android system recovery where i it says:
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command
It has options for wipe data/factory reset --tried nothing changed
wipe cache partition --nothing changed
apply update from sd card -- tried, gives an error then reboots.
On the sd card i found the ota update in the downloads folder, but im stuck here.
Im also not sure if downloading a stock RUU rom would fix the issue, since im not sure what was originally on the phone.
It was purchased at T-mobile in hungrary.
I dont intend to root the phone since i dont want to lose my warranty, but i would really like to fix this without having to send the phone away for repair.
Thank you for your time!
Ben
as you were completely stock before this update then i would reccomend returning your phone under warranty. as all you have done is follow th eofficial method of updating. the problem has not been caused by you so you should recieve a replacement or fix under warranty
Yes, i'm afraid i will have to send it in for repair. Im asking this because repairs take a long time, and if there is a way to solve it myself, it would be great.
Would it fix my problem if id install a factory rom? And if it would, how can i find out what was on the phone before the update happened?
Thanks
Ben
you could try flashing a custom recovery via 1 of the guides in the development section. then try wipeing and formatting all partitions. the install from an RUU again.
that might work.....
Had oxygen mod installed and franco kernel etc and after months of using it fine I thought the phone was running a bit funny so thought it reinstall fresh.
I knew the files were still on my sd card so i went to go into bootloader or recovery and i got a black screen that had a message Firmware Update Step 1/2 Unpacking.
It finished and appears to put me back on Android 2.21
I then rooted the phone and tried installing clockword mod etc but was having all sorts of problems getting marketplace to work. Can search for apps but when i click install nothing happens. I did enter my gmail account details for sync and it can list my apps available from my account.
USB is not working, it shows up sometimes in the top bar but when i click connect nothing happens and the phone freezes or reboots.
I cant get into the bootloader screen it instead brings up the standard Android bootloader and wont recognise my rom on the sdcard.
I tried rooting with superoneclick and although it roots the phone it seems to cause the issues???
Is Superoneclick the only way of rooting U8800?
I have the shield tablet LTE version and after connecting to WIFI it immediately installed all OTAs upto the hotfix also. So here I am sitting with lollipop in my tablet and I decide to go for rooting and CWM installation.. After rooting using adb/fastboot and installing CWM image, I decide to disable ATTall access because I read that it stops the portable hotspot from working. So, did that and then process after process started crashing. First it started with background data not being enabled (playstore wouldn't open) , NVidia hub crashing, google text to speech crashing, etc.
So, I went to cwm and did factory reset. At the initial stages itself where it asks for language setup, the google text to speexh crashes and I cannot click next or proceed forward.
I flash the Lollipop OTA once again thinking it would overwrite the system but it didn't.. and the same issue keeps happening..
Now what do I do?
Regards
Alden
An update to the mess i was in...
I tried recovery mode at the fastloader boot menu and I got the robot lying down with a red exclamation mark sign. I pressed vol + key and it opened the original recovery I think. I wiped user data from this menu and rebooted. and now it has come to the original screen setup and so far no process crashes...
What could have caused this entire mess?
I am not sure what would cause your issues but i believe your best bet is to download the full rom image for your tablet and flash it via fastboot. That should get you back up and running. (Be warned doing this will erase everything on your tablet!! SD card will be untouched)
By fullmrom u mean the one from the nvidia developer website right?
Yes that is the one! I am currently at work so I cant post a link to it but if you need it ill try to post it once im off, in about 30-ish minutes. Good luck! (p.s. last resort is RMA)
Is your shield up and running once again? Just wanted to get an update. =]
Thanks javydawg, I didnt use the one on nvidias developer website as i simply did not have enough data left in my Internet plan .. its 2.3 gb in size... after recoVery i was left with lollipop so i flashed a 750 mb file tht i gt from these forums and updated it to the latest version.. i still haven't pinpointed the reason for my earlier trouble but will shout out if it happens again... have to be careful cos not sure if RMA is possible for me in India...
Hi Community ,
Today one of my friends bought me the Alcatel Onetouch Idol 3 the 4.7 version Single SIM 8GB, Contract-free from Germany. During the first boot he was instructed to install the new firmware updates, everything went fine "I guess" until the phone restarted, he told me that the recovery mode screen appeared, but frankly i think that he got this screen by accident maybe he was pressing the power key and the volume up key while the phone was restarting who knows, anyways he selected Reboot system now from the menu, and when the phone starts up, no notifications were found and nothing says that the system was updated successfully.
So after all of this he checked the system firmware version, And it was 5.0.2-010 05,and a message saying new updates are available appeared. He proceeded the installation of this update, And everything went fine this time and he system is now 5.0.2-010 07.
So is it normal or the android system will be corrupted, The fact that i have the 5.0.2-010 07, does it mean that all the previous updates are applied correctly to the system ?
How can i please remove all the firmware updates and remove any changes so i can reinstall the system updates properly ?
P.S: I'm an android noob don't be harsh to me please
Hello and welcome to the comunity.
If everything works as it should be, that means the update was succesfull. Sometimes OTA updates are a small files about 50MB which only fixes some bugs, and thats why you dont need to see "android is upgrading" in the boot and also sometimes the OTA reboots the phone to recovery to be able to flash system files correctly.
So when you have 010.07 that means the update was successfull. If you maybe encounter some problems, just do factory reset the phone (you will lost all installed apps, sms, call log, but no photos and music).

Thanks a lot for the reply, So when the OTA reboot to recovery, choosing reboot system now from the recovery menu was the right choice ?
i think when the OTA has to reboot to recovery then there you should see some instalation progress which should end with automatic reboot. But anyway, when all works as it should dont bother with it.

I saw the installation progress only in the second update, in the first update the phone rebooted into recovery mode in which there is a static menu that i don't really remember the choices.
but yeah, anyways thanks
i am on custom rom, so i don't know how exactly the updates work. I am waiting to next update to android 6.0, but it will come not before march as i have i formations (more likely in summer )
I rooted my device using king root, in that state i got the notification for an official update. I went to settings, about phone, and updated. after it rebooted, it started installing the update. halfway through the the status bar was a little less half full, it stopped and booted normally. It said the the update installation was unsuccessful. I remembered that i had the stupid kingroot, so i uninstalled it, it rebooted, everything so far so good. i went just to double check the OS version currently installed, still on 5.0.2 Lollipop. This time i went ahead and started installing the update. I noticed that this time it looked fine because the status bar didn't stop halfway through like last time. It kept going until it was more than half full. So I was like "ok, lets just leave it for now to do its job and ill look at it later" Later, I looked and it had a black screen with the android model with an exclamation mark. It said: "No Command" I decided not to **** with it, so i jut left it. I went to Motorola's website, and chatted with one of their technicians. She told me to factory reset it. She gave me instructions on how to do that, Which those instructions did not work. I went on YouTube and figured out a way on how to get into recovery mode and factory reset it, and that was what i did of course. Now all it does is boot, show me android model, power off. Then it keeps doing the same thing over and over until the battery dies, or i force to shut down from recovery mode. BTW i still can access recovery mode, and everything is useless and leads to boot-loop thing i just mentioned. Please help i feel like i really ****ed it up.

Hello,
I'd recommend you to restore your device back to stock firmware Restore to Stock][XT1068][All Dual Sim Model][4.4.4] with fastboot.
Also, I would advice you not to flash bootloader again. (Since if yours is updated with marshmallow one, flashing the older one (downgrading) might end in a brick).
