Android has pretty much taken over the XDA-Portal
Everyday there are more and more posts about users who switched over from winmo to android.
I am planing on buying WP7 device, but my fear is I'll be one of few to do so, and as a result of this there will be little development going on for the device. I am a pretty die-hard windows fan so I hope they regain some popularity with WP7.
What does everyone think?
One thing will decide, microsoft wp7 ads.
sent from my x10i that is banging for a 2.1 upgrade. ...
WM continues
I wouldn´t worry for that, despite Android is now "in fashion" as soon as WP7 arrives will happen the same
I am also looking forward WP7 I´m sure it will be a funny one too

Dont worry if your WP7 device is lacking in WP development, Im sure there will be several ways and ROMs to run Android on it
haha, i dont want to run android on it!!!!!!!
dont get me wrong, its a great os, but i am a much bigger fan of windows
Can someone explain to me the "greatness" of WinMo? From what I've seen of it, it's terrible :<.
Then again, I've only seen 1 WinMo Phone and it was a weird one.

WM is great because of the amount of free software available for it and the openness of the OS. Yes many times the carriers do a lousy job of programming their version of the phone software but thats where the custom roms come in. Remeber iOS and Android are babies in the world of phone software. So most of the worst specs for an android phone are really good for WM. That being said take about any WM phone and hack it with a good stable custom rom and you will be amazed. I've seen many of hte new android phones and I can say I 'm not that impressed. I think its a great phone for people who aren't phone smart. Thats not saying you can't root it and do really cool things with it. But out of the box its pretty locked down. Unfortunately WP7 is going the way of android and iOS because of their success putting smart phones in normal non techies hands. But for the true techie WM is where its at. Hoped that helped. I fear owning my HD2 for years because all the new phones will be locked down like iphone.
hopefully this eases your concerns about lockdown
one of my great friends recevied their developers wp7 device just the other day and theyve already hacked deep into it, done a plethora of customizations and so on. with wp7 i think we will see more apps and such since they say it has lots of appeal to developers. weve got xda, so we hopefully will never have to face a locked down windows phone haha
i agree, if you are very phone smart, and want to get your phone the exact way you like it windows is where its at. they get a bad rep in the smartphone world only because there is a pretty big learning curve before you can truly dig into the device.

I've been seeing alot about this on other sites. Devs seem to want the os cause it's market is not filled to the brims so thier apps get lost. First ones out the gate wins kinda thing. I'm eager to see what happens, though I plan on replacing my two raph's with a captivate. I'm really not digging the multitasking in wp7.
The rumored specs for the HD3 has me very interested in WP7. 4.5" 1280x800 screen, 1.5ghz dual core, 1gb ram, 32gb mem. Depends on the Apps too. I really like the Android market more so than what WinMo has offered. I'm a diehard WinMo user, but after running Android on my HD2.... I've found myself using WinMo less and less and less.
edit: Does WP7 even allow 1280x800 screen res? hmm.
If you use Outlook (I do for both business and personal), the sync between PC and device using ActiveSync/WMDC is (although far from perfect) essential. Doing sync between Android devices and Outlook appears to require either 3rd party apps of variable reliability/ease and/or use of Google mail and calendar. If you're paranoid about your data (like me) and don 't want to use someone else to store it, that make WinMo about the only option. So I think the corporates will keep WinMo alive and XDA-dev will keep it interesting!

Could be interesting stuff between the release of Android 3.0 and WM7...

its important for everyone to know these 3 thing:
-WP7 will be sending ota updates to the phone directely from microsoft. these updates will improve performance in some cases, and add features in other cases. microsofts goal is to bypass the carrier and avoid all of the bs that comes with carriers.
- keeping this in mind, microsoft has two major updates scheduled ALREADY for release within the the first few months of the phones release. one update is the addition of copy and paste, the other is suppose to have something to do with multi tasking
-they intentionally left copy and paste out of launch so they could distribute it in an ota update.
the multitasking issue isnt a bad thing actually. you can run as many native apps as you want at the same time, you just cant run multiple third party apps at the same time. HOWEVER, lets say i am running a third party app (app1) then lets say i launch a second third party app (app2) app1's state will be saved and placed in the background on "pause" if you will, while app2 runs. if i relaunch app1 its last known state will be restored and app2 will go into pause.
hello friends, i have been using WP7 for almost 7months... now i kind of regret for having chosen WP7, bcuz of lack of apps n customization... i just saw my friends Android and it was so damn cool... the app selection is the best n apps have control over the phones vitaal functions like messaging ( u can replace native inbox) , start screen n so on...
now what i wanted to know is any user here who has used Android n WP7, i request your suggestion; is Android really good or though there are many apps is it not stable ?? which do u feel is better ??
You can use the search button and read through all the existing threads. Otherwise all people will do is repeat what they said before and within a day there will be huge arguments. Seriously, use the search button.

Everything is a mistake if you don't research before you buy. Like buying a 2 door porshe when you have 4 kids . Hope you learned your lesson.
I dont even think about Android anymore now that i have mango, super sleek!
Yep. Android is cool. It has all those cool stuffs. Sold my hd7 cause i need a phone that can do wifi tethering and android phones are the only phone i know that can do it right. The only thing cool about wp7 are the smooth UI but it kinda gets boring...

Apps will become less and less a problem
A ton of new HQ apps have been released:
- IM plus (expect it to be mastered once Mango gets officially released)
- FB (now supports push)
- Vevo (!)
- AccuWeather
- Kik
With Mango:
- Spotify
- Skype
(hopefully whatsapp as well, they have the API's they need now)
plus all the other stuff like multitasking all works really great and the ease of use and productivity will increase significantly.
What more does one need, now we can also have unlimited sideload apps on Mango. Its worth the wait, it will only get better once nokia will release its mapping apps and stuff.
Some of the apps can be replaced on android because the native ones are crap, with wp7 you can ask yourself do you really need other apps or do the native ones just do their job fine.
You can install Mango and give it a go... if you still dont like it, restore back to NoDo and you will still have your warranty.
In my experience Android can get laggy, drain battery and be a bit unstable at times with apps crashing.
WP7 on the other hand is smooth and easy to use.
I don't miss any apps from Android but you may have different needs.
Get Mango on it, you'll soon change your mind.
WP7 is in it's infancy so of course it isn't going to have as much as android or ios, but it is growing.

Yeah once Mango gets here he should be mostly satisfied with WP7 (since push notifications will actually work and the internet browser will actually be useable)
Also, all the "cool" stuff you're seeing on Android... It has no use. Is changing the SMS interface really necessary if the Messaging hub already works really well? It's fun to screw around with that stuff, but that's all it really is.
WP7 is how a true 'smart' phone should be. Quick, slick and beautiful in it's own way.
If you want customisation... buy an Android phone. But Android is laggy and bloated. Yeah you can change almost anything, but it feels as if the device is 'fragmented'.
WP7 has a smooth togetherness which I love.
Thumbs up MS. Keep up the good work. Mango beta is far from perfect, but MS seems to be listening to it's users!!!!
This is a loaded question...
However...
Once one decides if the limitations that the OS have make it difficult for you do the things you NEED to do it's a pretty easy decision.
Mango does indeed take the things that WP7 did and make it even better. There's not a lot of change in the deep OS strategy though. WP7 is about content and not computing.
You cannot customize it to your hearts content because the UI is built on a standing principle on UX.
Android = computer emulation
WP7 = Mobile empowerer
You can do a whole lot more on Android and it will probably stay that way as Android continues to push the limits. WP7 is more polished, more refined, more dedicated to its useful purpose. It is also much more locked down. Android is more green fields, do anything you want and how you want and with that strategy comes good at everything, master of none.
Excellent analogy. Very well put.

Great reply!
I avoided Android because of these opinions but honestly right now it is quite refined too.
It is somewhat true WP7 is having better workflow that other OSes but for me lack of features and quite boring UI after some time disappointed me.
As it was written here so many times, WP7 does it's job in some areas in elegant way.
However Mango may be the first finished and more refined version of the OS. Currently it's quite poor IMO. And quite illogical to be honest.
If I would be someone to give advice, I'd say wait till the end of the year and drop it now unless you're a dedicated MS enthusiast.
As for the above analogy - I prefer computer emulation than.
I had an omnia 7 for 6 months and now have a desire Hd. I loved the omnia and windows phone 7 for a couple of months, but I became tired of waiting for the "march" update and brought a dell streak, which within a week the screen and glass broke So got the desire HD. I have to admit I'm loving putting custom roms on this, but looking at the vids and pictures and demos of the mango update; I'm seriously considering buying one of the new set of devices, mango loaded of course. Looking at the rumours of a 16mp 4.7inch 1.5ghz HTC wp7 device, that may draw me in Wp7 is so refined and i have tried out the ie9 browser in mango and it is seriously at least twice as fast as any android browser I've used, and 5 times faster than the crappy safari browser on my ipod touch.

Im just curious how many of you out there would recommend an iPhone over an Android phone or an Android over an iPhone. After being an iOS user since 09 and recently switching to Android, I would actually say that Android is my favorite. Just because of all the customization options I have and all the things I can do that I could of never done with an iPhone (even when jailbroken). Now I'd like to hear your opinion.

Android FTW!
agreed with android ftw..
i do enjoy reponsiveness of ios and polished look. it just looks "nice"
but android ftmfw..
my friend had an iphone 4 and we jailbroke it and he was showing all the cool things you can do with jailbroken phones..
i was like wait.... what? my phone could do this before it was even rooted.
makes me sad that ios has sooo many features just "missing" that phones should have. or be able to do. i guess thats why its not open sources... =\
Actually I like iOS 'cause it's so stable and really really easy , thus leaving it for all ages to use. But it's really limited and therefore you jailbreak.
Android on the other hand is a very good OS too! It's very very versatile and you can custom it like you want. The only thing with Android is that it's kind of messy.
So to conclude iOS is an OS that you'll find attractive in first look and some months to come. Android is an OS that grows on you and you'll love it in the long-run.
Has anyone seen iOS5? Apple obviously stole almost every new feature from the jailbreak community then they stole notifications from Android. They need to come up with their own ideas.

They do that quite often! Same happend with iOS 4 with the wallpaper and multi tasking
I suspect you're going to get android as the majority answer here.
I'm over the ios>android or android> ios. They're different beasts with great qualities all around. I think ios is a simpler os in that really anyone can use it. At the same time, android's strength comes in its flexibility and customization. This doesn't suite everyone because really the majority of people just want an easy button. They can find that in android, they just don't have the patience to look.

I wouldn't neccesarily say that Apple stole multitasking from another OS/Device because its different. I mean, come on, its fake. I wouldn't say Apple stole the homescreen wallpapers either. Its an image that doesn't move and it isn't live. Basically, it makes it look a little better. No biggy.

If you want to use your phone as a phone with a little web browsing and a little Angry Birds playin', get iOS because its simple. If you want to make your phone the way you want it and you like customization, freedom, and the ability to to almost anything with your phone, get Android. =)

I would really like Ios, it's not a bad OS. Multitask, runs pretty decent, huge app store, but there are a couple reasons why I'm not on ios.
Flash, I use flash on my phone all the time. Keeps me entertained.
Screen size, 3.5" is too small for me.
Carrier, I'm on Sprint dammit.

I use an iPhone for the reliability of it. And because currently it's the only phone I have with FFC. I also use an Android phone because of the enjoyment of it and apps. I feel my Inspire is smoother and nicer than my iPhone, but not as reliable. The screen isn't nearly as good as the iPhone 4's, either.
I also use a WP7 device and feel WP7 will overtake bother other formats eventually. It's that good.
But right now I don't leave the house without my iPhone. I feel secure in the knowledge I can get ahold of someone shuld the need arise. My Inspire almost got my family and I lost once due to a malfunctioning compass and non-functioning nav.

Almost exact sentiment, except in reverse. My trusty Eris does all my heavy lifting for work-related tasks while my iPhone is my gps/playtoy. Haven't gotten my hands on a windows phone yet but they certainly are sounding more and more attractive these days!

Thats a nice OS but a WP7 phone at work somehow got a virus and it wouldbt let the phone do anything and all it did when you turned it in was show a big smiley face with the bird finger. XD
So yeah unlike allot here i won't go FU on iOS.
Here is my subjective list of pro & contra for both systems.
Mind you i have used both.
iOSPLUS:
Stable
For it's money a well running piece of software built on that specific hardware
Fast
Simple to use
Design = top notch
Good service and reliable
Contra:
Hard to modify the feel of the OS
Forced to stay with all apple software (unless jailbroken) to downlaod upload music,etc..
Easy to jailbrake but still a challenge
AndroidPLUS:
Easy to use
Smooth and stable
Easy to modify and root
Customizable to a great extend
Perfectly combined with all Google products
Good service and help from google with personal calls explaining things
Contra:
Default FM can hang once in a while
Without root no way to do much or change much
Easier battery drain (personal opinion)
No updates for all the phone due to builds and limitations ( this is because there are so many companies producing Androids but all with different specs)
WP7Well really don't have much usage experience i did boot the emulator to check it out. Can't say it's ugly but doesn't look appealing either.
I believe that the OS probably is decent but it doesn't beg me to try it out
I think the WP7 is a good phone matching all other MS products. Like Xbox to phone connections and with Win8 it will be easy to look things up on your PC and share it with your phone if you godda go real quick. Win8 get's the same WP7 overlay.
All in all no real user experience so won't brake it down.
I believe it's a small correct list.
I can't say i hate either one of them but currently running android. Feels a Little slower then iOS but my biggest plus is all my Google Docs,Searches,G+,Mail,Pic are easy to acces with simple clicks from your phone.
Who the best is?
Think both are worth as much but if you like to mess around with your phone i would advise the android OS. Also you are more free to choose a phone to your liking then being forced a same look like the guy next to you in the train has.
Been using windows phone for 1.5 years now... and i must say im really used to the UI and i believe using windows 8 would be a breeze for me as well
That being said, mum recently got the new ipad... and ive been trying to teach her how to use it...
AND to my surprise... i am actually feeling pretty good about WP for its convenience, slick UI, humanly made functions compared to apple
There is no way i can really take up an apple product now. It was just pure frustration when using it. Everything on WP was just so much easier faster and more useful!!

it is easy to use and all the people i know who have used it feel the same, but its important to remember that iOS android and WP all have their own pros and cons
each person to their own hey!
ive always said that out of the box without modification, WP is a much easier and complete package than the others, in my opinion of course!

Yep. Have a Titan for 9 months now, and no, even my iPod touch has become an alarm clock or simply a device that pulls my other emails inbox and junk. Turns out its not so much of a fun device like they advertised. Although I've been wanting to mod it to make it more "wearable" like putting it in a PipBoy 3000 case, but that would be ridiculous in public.

I felt the exact opposite when using my samsung focus for a year and a half. Not pure frustration but relief when i picked up an 4s. The app selection and speed of the browser and camera are worth it alone. Screen color reproduction outshines the super amoled as well. I have found that most new smartphone users pick up the UI navigation on an iphone much quicker than wp7. Unfair advantage though since most people have come across iOS at some point and to some degree beforehand. Both better than android though
Im kinda looking forward to the next iphone though I have 2 windows phones (omnia7, surround) an iphone 3gs, 3 ipads (2 ipad 1, 1 new ipad) im up for all tech devices heheh, just cant find an interest in android at the moment though
I quite like iOS as a whole, but the UI really turns me down, especially coming from WP. Android instead is going in the right direction with JB: the UI is now more polished and minimal WP7 style, reaching a good level of consistency. It's still not perfect but it keeps getting better. iOS instead really needs a complete makeover, there's way too much stuff jiggling around and "wannabe cute" thingies. Especially coming from WP7 it all looks like cluttered childish garbage. It gets stuff done nicely but it's far from being appealing to my eye, and that's a shame because the hardware really is top notch. Just my 2 cents.

I have used old windows mobile, palmOS, iPhone4S and I have an android tablet with ICS. I use the arrive from Sprint, and compared with WM phones, it is superior, but to iPhone4s, which I didn't use too much at all, I don't think WP has too much advantage if there's any. I like the interface, but there are just too many little problems that's never get fixed. First and for most, the iPhone4s can send SMS with unicode without any problem, just like normal, you don't need to do anything, but my WP, others only see some junk boxes. Then, the MMS doesn't work after time, need to reset/power cycle the phone. You can't send video at all, no matter what. I can list these on and on, and after all these time, these little bugs never get fixed. The WP7 is stuck at a trial version forever. Just like the WM Microsoft did, they seems to be too slow, can't catch up with all the requests. That's probably a reason why WP isn't popular. In the whole time, Apple releases three new phones with major OS update, I think, and Google got even more releases, I think. To my understanding, even though WP has some very important bells and whistles, if they can't catch up with the demands from average joes and jeans like us to fix the problems, they will lose the game. I do understand my phone is old and the hardware limits it has, but still, those basic bugs should be fixed before they go on to a whole new OS which will abandon us in whole.
I've had a Dell Venue Pro for about 1.5 years now and my wife finally wanted a smartphone so I got her an iPhone 6 months ago.
I've used iOS maybe once or twice before and not for very long so when I finally got a chance to play with iOS for for a longer period of time, I ended up hating the experience completely! I found myself trying to swipe left and right in apps and thinking "why won't the pages swipe over??" before realizing I wasn't using WP. I got so used to the swiping actions in WP7 that anything else just doesn't feel right. I've just gotten so used to flicking up or down and tapping a live tile or just swiping to the app list and flicking up or down, then tapping on the app I want and then within the app swiping left and right through the different pages and up and down. Everything just feels so smooth and fluid. The letters flowing into the next page inviting me to swipe left or right! WP is a damn sexy OS!
Although I think iPhones are great devices for beginners, I think this is the main reason I could never use iOS now. iOS is all about tapping. Tap an app icon, tap the page you want from the bottom, tap to go back at the top of the app, tap this, tap that... everything is tap, tap, tap, and occasionally scroll on pages that are all static. It's cluttered. There's no fluidity. It doesn't evoke emotion. And I agree with the "jiggling" and the "wannabe cutsie" stuff... what's up with that???
The way I see it, iPhones really are for kids and people that just want an iPhone, Android is for nerds that love to tinker (until they get sick of it and end up buying an iPhone or WP), and WP is for people that want devices that just function properly with a little style and pizazz. WP is the modern OS.
Just my opinion
You just need some time to get use to the iOS, instead of there's anything bad. I have problems with the hard buttons on my WP, the volume buttons, the return/search/home buttons, which I can never get used to, almost always jumped by accidentally touched those buttons.
i could never use ios ever since the ipod touch came out since that its always been the same, but my favorite mobile os's from most favorite to least is windows phone, windows mobile first smartphone i used was a treo 700wx, then webos they were going places with that, ios, bb, and android though i have only used froyo and gingerbread worst experiance ever not even wm 6.1 was that bad

Android has changed a lot lately, it's much more polished, smooth and efficient. I still find it a bit unintuitive and overly complicated as a PHONE OS, but JB made it a very solid platform. I've been using it extensively on my tablet in the latest weeks and I'm pretty satisfied. I still like the simplicity and the fresh design of WP better, but it's a whole different world compared to how it used to be in the past, maybe you should grab a Nexus device or something and give it another chance

WP7 was winning the game right up until ms dropped it. I look at the wp metro now and just wish they'd let users skin the thing. They should have introduced a folder system, language support is thin. It's depressing because wp was the best os, now jellybean is out and has ironed out all the niggles with droid. A new ios is only a month away and ms are trying to tout win8, which already looks set to be the biggest failure in the history of Microsoft.
It is nearly game, set and match to apple. What a depressing time for tech
A few things wp7 can boast are, best search (camera, tags, sound and text all in one interface), fastest web browsing of all devices, absolutely AMAZING cloud integration with skydive, easy groupings of friends/contacts.... Actually the list of things wp7 is still better for is huge. Why did ms drop it?
I just hope Nokia can get a droid device out there fast.

Couldn't agree more. iOS always appear like something i can buy from Toys R Us and made by Fisher Price.

I would say Win 7 is much nicer than ios , however , if Microsoft changes up the system every 2 years like they just did with win 8 (basically making our win 7 devices a KIN) , i WONT BE BACK! Those people who bought the 2nd gen wp7 fones are screwed now in there contract , right after pushing the wp7 on them and millions sold , Microsoft annouces win 8 and they are not backwords compatible , so you have to have the newest fones in order to use win8 , yes they give a small gui for nokia with no functionality of 8 , your screwed too!
Nope I was a fan from the beginning ,I have focus 1.3 and have changed out custom roms , its been dev unlocked from the beginning, interop unlocked as well ,but I dont see a future in it , I do like the interface , but I think I will get an Android next , and just get a custom rom that looks like win 8 !! or anything else I want ! My Tablet rocks with Jelly Bean !
I actually use iOS far more then my WP7 device. My 4S however just can accomplish so much more then my Optimus 7. Better everything really. The WP7 OS however is still my favorite. I just hope they create some amazing phones down the line. Really really stunning phones.
After having used a long time my well loved o²xda-htc wallaby(which died in 2010 by batterydead, and the long and very sad search of a well priced htc hd2,where i was victim of the ebay classifieds services i bought ,and yes thats sad in some cases, that i must say ,that i don´t know if it was luck that i spend 200€ for my Omnia7 in a telekomshop, but what i can say defenitely after all: Iphone and every other Apple-Product where never an option for me!!! And this is based on some reasons for me: 1. there is the fact, that the appelproducts and especially the phones are so extremely overpriced in comparision of hardware/price 2. that i hate that everyone who owns an appeldevice is so "proud" on this and that this person act like as it is the biggest show-off,the applehype has disgusted me totaly 3. is that iphones are not very longlife-produced and often their screen brakes by first "touchdown" 4. that i whish that the appleconcern is breaken down in some years 5.that it is my opinion, that when appledevices were good everyone bought windevices, and now that windwos has cought up in (hardware) but mostly software specifications, their reputation has lost the multimediadevices and phonemarket.
What i must say also is,when i´ll buy me a new device i´ll buy me an androiddevice, nothing lesser then one of the topdevices(S3 or something like this). This is based on the fact, that microsoft has disappointed me that much as i could be dissapointed by them ,and also because i think that wp8 will be at the end locked down, as much as wp7 was, something i´ll never have to own again as a smartphoneos
Hi everyone, i have a couple of questions, now im in no way a troll or anything but i was thinking to switchin to wp, im with android at the moment i have a galaxy note.
Basically i just wanted to know what does wp 7.8 or even the upcoming wp8 devices have thats different to say an android or ios phone? I have no experience whatsoever with wp and would just like to know why you as users love your devices, ive seen the videos of the nokia 920 on youtube and it looks absolutely amazing, the reason i would like to switch is probably the fluidity of the os but other than that is there much else a reason to swap, even if someone could post a link as to reasons why wp is a good os that would be great, once again im not a troll i just have no clue about the operating system at all, i was curious about broadening my horizons abit many thanks if anyone can enlighten me

Obvious troll is obvious.
And three question marks is rude.
I just said i werent trolling are u stupid???
Its people like u who make xda such a nasty place to be in, i had a genuine question cos i was seriously thinkin bout switchin from android to wp, so i say to u to stop being so paranoid bout trolling when someone asks a genuine question oh and stop spamming my post with useless comments, if u thought i was a troll then why bother using ur energy and time to post in the thread, ur the troll causing needless arguements

Your question would be better asked in the WP8 forum. No need to beat this horse.
You watched the videos , you should have a pretty good understanding of the OS. What you see is exactly all there is to it, nothing more.

The reason why i love my Windows Phone is the design, the minimalistic design which is "modern" since 1950 till today that style is modern like black and white clothes. the second thing is that i dont need so much apps for every possible thing. i dont need to know how my wp7 works to manage it to work for months.
3rd what i love is the durability, i switch my wp7 only off if i have a new rom (that happens maybe once a year ). In wp7 you dont need to feel that your device uses you, you have the full control over the functions what your device can do for you. you dont need to bother if the device is gonna shut off at any time, no bother about slowdowns or maybe even forcing to restart like i saw multiple times on my brothers stock HTC evo 3D.
and the 4th are the live tiles, you spend way less time customizing and arranging your live tiles then on android the look and feel.
5th. my battery last now in my device over one day and 10 hours, and my battery is 1 year and 3 months old. and only 1500mAh! the lumia 920 has 2000mAh, just imagine what can be done with it. and how long it lasts.
6st. wireless sync with my pc, all my videos and pictures get synced automatic if my device is charging anywhere in my house.
7th. the people hub, there i have all the news from twitter, facebook, windows live, and linked in in one "app" that doesnt have a loading, if you have internet it download instantly the news if you switch to the "news" tab in the people hub.
8th. i love the overall simplicity of wp7, no bunch of setting for each app, instead microsoft has found the middle way, settings for all apps together. and i think it is a good way despite users say "i need a seperate volume ringtone and seperate volum for sms" you use your device or you dont use it you have volume turned on or off. thats what i need, nothing in between.
9th. i love the bunch of new developers with new app and functions like the official FC Bayern football app, if i'm not at home it send me an instant notification about goals, and the result is on the live tile, it is visible even without opening the app, thats only one example of apps that i like (instant news and info without opening app) - so to say "on the go"
10th. a wp7 has not every of my friends. i dont like mainstream to much.
11th. reason why i love windows phone 7 or 8 or 7.8 is that making apps for them is really easy (i heard from various developers that developing for iOS is a pain in the ass), with a few books and tutorials and some practice everybody can make an app, as an student you get an free dev center account where you can publish your apps and even earn money on them.
12th. reason is i'am 24h online, so i get emails instantly, news about my buddys... my brohter turn its wifi off on its Android HTC EVO 3D because he says it drains its battery... i dont like that. if it is a smartphone let it be a smartphone 24h not only 2h daily.
and WP7 is truly a smartphone, it makes my life easier, much.

1. The main strength is its UI. Even after almost two years of ownership, I still get amazed watching smooth animations on my phone. It simply never ages, never slows down. Even typing on its keyboard feels quite amazing.
2. Second biggest strength is its exclusive apps. For example, Nokia Drive served me many times and quite beautifully. Nokia Group Shots is extremely handy and blows my friends away. Photosynth is just mindblowing (now available on iOS as well)! MS Office is quite useful. My phone quite easily connects to all kinds of WiFi networks with proxy settings, no hassles at all! Xbox avatar (see my xda avatar) is just so cute and achievements add a new dimension to games.
In a small summary, it's some small things which can't be mentioned on specs sheet which makes WP7 truly amazing. It is so wonderful that I can't even care if my phone is not getting WP8 upgrade. I'm actually far more looking for a slew of new Nokia apps like Xpress browser which has saved me 84% data so far

So refreshing to see such a positive note for WP7.x! :good:
