i dont know why whenever i install xxkpq, kpm etc. ie all roms above than xxkph there is no hardware acceleration in browser during scrolling.upto xxkph the scrolling is very smooth ie: GPU rendered.
I want to ask you guys that do ou also face the same problem in xxkpq.

I think it's the opposite, GPU rendering can help if GPU are good, our GPU are like a water pistol
i think its smooth becouse its rendering by CPU instead GPU =)
IMHO
Hardware acceleration started off with ICS, not GB.. So hardware acceleration in kph is out of the question..
Anyway this thread does not belong here..

hi there,
im lookin for best rom for i9003 which is smooth as i9000. i used xxkb3, xeke1, jpke1,xxkp9, xxkp7 and xxkpe. non of them smooth like i9000. i used lagfix and also usin ext4 fs now. but still its not smooth. any suggest appreciate. thnx.
edit.correction.i9003->i9000
Try out XXKPH, If you are looking for a GB version and XXKB3 for Froyo..They are most stable versions..You do not need lagfix on KPH! It is pretty fast!!!
Isn't this a more general topic than a dev?

No, try custom rom without samsung applications
Wait new release of my rom if you want less samsung applications in your device
What about removing Maps, It eats up quite alot of RAM. Any noticable glitches with it removed?
I have removed many applications like swype, aldiko , layar and replaced music player with the latest miui player and 3d gallery with the motion 3d gallery and many more
hi again,
@Misledz,
i know it is not dev topic but there is no general page for i9003. thats why i write here, im sorry.
i use maps and i think it has to run smooth with those programs, it has 1ghz cpu.
guys those two phones have same cpu and i really dont understand how is that difference. my friend has i9000, he doesnt install any custom-new roms, lagfix, battery saver, ram cleaner etc. still no has lag.
but my i9003 has ext4, same cpu, battery saver, ram cleaner and still has lag.
im really tired to try roms, installin programs again and again.
Mine's stock - no root, no ext4, etc. and i'm not experiencing any lag on XXKPH. Get rid of the "battery saver" and "RAM cleaner" and see how you go i guess.

Very true, those battery saver and clean up thingos drain battery and eat RAM and therefore slow your device down. Just keep a close eye on what you have running in the background (make running service shortcut on homescreen and stop apps you dont need at the time for example), have a simple taskkiller (i use advanced task killer) that autokills apps at user defined time intervals and close apps properly (using back-key and not homekey).
Should help a lot with the lag and increase batter time significantly.

dude both phones are different and the cpu of both phones are different

Hi
I am using Brainmaster's MIUI(the GB one) and i have tested both shadowgun and gta 3 in this rom and on ICS, CM7 and Oxygen.
On MIUI the performance is significantly worse. Is it the rom?maybe because it uses more ram or something. I have already deleted the file "libGLES_android.so" to improve performance and tried a new kernel but still have poor gaming performance when compared to other roms.
Can someone help me?
Thanks
i think it is because MIUI has more pretty UI , yes , more UI occupies more GPU resources
just like windows XP , if you compare XP theme (default of XP)and classic theme (that old one of win98 , Me or 2000 ) , you will feel great different about performance
So if there was an app that disabled Miui UI during gameplay(or something like that) then i would be able to play without performance loss?
I really like MIUI rom and its functionalities but this performance issue is bad=/.
Even with oc at 1.2 its still worse than other roms at 1.0...
in theory u would be right
try going into the main phone settings, developer settings, then enable "force gpu rendering".

Try disabled high quality draw

thanks for the help guys, but i dont want a pretty rom(even if it has some useful features) if it affects performance this much. I thought that it wouldn't affect much because i still get a lot of free ram. Even tried ram manager pro in high gaming mode but it didn't help so i went back to ics.

hum...maybe you didnt notice it?i only notice this in games that use serious gpu power, like shadowgun, gta3 etc...
anyway if i get back to the rom i will keep that in mind and try out the things you said.
thanks
i have "Heavy gun" and "Asphalt6" in my phone , except first few seconds have lag, and then all goes well
Try installing Chainfire3D from Market. It might help.
MC3 has always lagged for me no matter what. At first I thought it was because I was running stock rom + stock kernal.
I finally grew some balls and flashed NExus 4 + Faux's overclock kernal and even with it fully overclocked at 1.7ghz, and running at that speed with no other applications running I still get lag..
Is the skyrocket really not powerful enough for that game lol? I know its most likely the most demanding game + the best graphics but its really annoying.
All other games work fine xD
since u flashed that, try mhx superlite 5, and under developper options in settings set "force gpu rendering" to on, and re-run mc3. i honestly think that will help alot

From reading another thread that's ICS? Call me weird but I prefer GB way over ICS ;P
ur not weird, ics may not be for everyone, but the performance improvements are evident. if u don't want to go down that route i suggest u try the faux 010v??? edition? whichever version of 010 isnt the mainlinr one, its got an overclock on the gpu. Also, see if u can get to 1.8, use system tuner to turn up the voltage at that frequency to ensure stability.

I was going to be it sais its not supported on all phones and I have no idea what that means sinse basically all our phones are the same and everyone sais they are running the more stable version...
Just flashed the 010u version and im booted, hopefully this helps..
In chainfire 3d I even checked all the options that supposedly "gave better performance" but it really didnt do anything..

yes the have the same hardware, but the QUALITY is not the same. My phone can do 1.9 ghz, not everyone has a phone that can do that. Unless u have a really crappy one, the gaming version should run just fine for u
Hey guys,
I´m using the i9003 on 2.3.5. I recognize lags with the stock browser when I pinch or scroll. Using the opera browser it is so much smoother.
Compared to a i9000, the i9000 using the stock browser is smoother, too. The same compared to a i9100 (here even the menu tab scrolling is much smoother).
Is this normal? What can I do about it?
Why dont you consider downloading dolphin browser and set it as default?

No it's not normal, at least for me, doesn't lag on both stock middle eastern version and CM9 by dhiru.
ok so CM9 may be a solution. Does the stock browser lag using stock firmware?
i faced scroll lag on dolphin with stock rom and only on this site (xda developers)
but CM9 is just smooth....its the first visible difference i noticed on CM9...scrolling on this site seems really smooth....

Wow it lags in stock? That means the i9001 is clearly better than the i9003 since it doe not lag.

Not really.
It has a 1.4 Ghz Processor = Better (kinda, we can OC).
But we beat it in RAM, they can only use around 300~ RAM..
They have AMOLED we have SLCD screens..
Really depends, price here in qatar is the same, i took the I9003, the guy there told me it lasts longer (charge).
but I don´t get why the i9003 stock browser lags and the i9000 stock browser doesn´t!

how bout this...throw your phone on the wall and then check....you can try throwing it outside the window too(it worked for me)
dude..why are you comparing phones with different processors/gpu
Because everyone says there is no noticeable difference between the i9001 and i9003. It´s only the screen.
But obviously there is a huge difference! The i9003 lags, the i9001 doesn´t!

forget i9001, you will find soo many differences between 2 i9003's itselft....some can handle oc, some cant....some face blacklight issue...some face lag..if this lag is a serious issue for you. flash CM9.....

i9000 or i9001? i9000 has better screen, btr CPU, btr gpu and obviously will be smoother.
Cheers

pretty interesting fact. Now I´ve got the i9001 and there is no lag. I cannot believe that there is such a big difference.

Look, it all depends on what ROM you are using and how the browser is tweaked, samsung released crap stock roms for the i9003.
Use CM9 and you will know how it is untouched by retarded samsung developers.

in the beginning everything was fine, but from last couple of weeks .. i am noticing a major drop in the quality of the pictures. As i was using Cyanogenmod, i thought it is due to that, but then using the Stock based Custom Rom, or even even the Stock rom is giving the same result. Camera patch available in this forum, also didn't work fine for me.!
Is that, my Camera hardware is, affected.... or are there any other reasons!

i think yours is too much overclocking bro.. if we used cm7 and oc 600mhz up the cam will be flickering.. so i think it's caused of oc.
but as my experience if i reflash to stockrom it will be normal.. may be your cam hardware has small damage bro because of oc.

But ..my phone Doesn't support OC above 729Mhz!!
What should i do, go and get my hardware replaced by the Samsung or wait for the Camera working in ICS, as i have read somewhere that, sometimes phone's camera acts weird due to low shutter speed, and as we know shutter speed in ICS is increased by Google.
Suggest me !

i suggest you to flash yours to stock, and check it to samsung service center bro.. just flash the old stock bro, do not the latest one, so you can use that to be your reason why your cam got flicker..
