best i9003 rom like i9000 - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

hi there,
im lookin for best rom for i9003 which is smooth as i9000. i used xxkb3, xeke1, jpke1,xxkp9, xxkp7 and xxkpe. non of them smooth like i9000. i used lagfix and also usin ext4 fs now. but still its not smooth. any suggest appreciate. thnx.
edit.correction.i9003->i9000

Try out XXKPH, If you are looking for a GB version and XXKB3 for Froyo..They are most stable versions..You do not need lagfix on KPH! It is pretty fast!!!

Isn't this a more general topic than a dev?

No, try custom rom without samsung applications
Wait new release of my rom if you want less samsung applications in your device

What about removing Maps, It eats up quite alot of RAM. Any noticable glitches with it removed?

I have removed many applications like swype, aldiko , layar and replaced music player with the latest miui player and 3d gallery with the motion 3d gallery and many more

hi again,
@Misledz,
i know it is not dev topic but there is no general page for i9003. thats why i write here, im sorry.
i use maps and i think it has to run smooth with those programs, it has 1ghz cpu.
guys those two phones have same cpu and i really dont understand how is that difference. my friend has i9000, he doesnt install any custom-new roms, lagfix, battery saver, ram cleaner etc. still no has lag.
but my i9003 has ext4, same cpu, battery saver, ram cleaner and still has lag.
im really tired to try roms, installin programs again and again.

Mine's stock - no root, no ext4, etc. and i'm not experiencing any lag on XXKPH. Get rid of the "battery saver" and "RAM cleaner" and see how you go i guess.

Very true, those battery saver and clean up thingos drain battery and eat RAM and therefore slow your device down. Just keep a close eye on what you have running in the background (make running service shortcut on homescreen and stop apps you dont need at the time for example), have a simple taskkiller (i use advanced task killer) that autokills apps at user defined time intervals and close apps properly (using back-key and not homekey).
Should help a lot with the lag and increase batter time significantly.

[Q] Low RAM?

Im not sure why but in the past week, my phone ram was was quite low. (30m - 45m) Before that, even after playing games and stuff, the ram was always above 55m. I have the go sms app, i have lookout running always and battery notifier (big text) to tell me my battery level. these were the apps that i downloaded just before the raam went low. oh and i only have 4 widgets running on my screen. (google search widget, power control widget (the one with options to toggle wifi, bluetooth etc etc on and off), a go taskmanager widget to show me how much ram i have and a music app widget) BTW im rooted running stock 2.1. Hope someone can help me!

must've been the services or processes running hidden in the background. there are some apps you can use to kill or stop them. but mainly i just use autokiller memory optimizer to modify android's default app killer to kill apps even when the ram is not very low(it kills apps when ram reaches a certain level). theres also a function in autokiller memory optimizer which allows you to kill processes. if you want more ram, you could use swap too, but it eats more battery, so i dont.
its a good app, and you dont have to use any task killers anymore. you can use the strict preset in the app if you want higher free ram. swap if you activate swap, you could go up to more than 100m free.

oh ya i forgot to mention i have already been using autokiller memory optimizer at strict level for a month already. yesterday i changed it to aggressive hoping that my ram would increase but to no avail.
then it'd be that you have to many processes running it in the background. see from autokiller memory optimizer. just tap to close. swap gives you a LOT of free ram also. but you have to be using a swap compatible rom of course, so stock but rooted, no. unless u are using the eclair strikes back rom. im also on stock singapore but rooted. average free ram now is around 50 and im underclocked running at 500mhz cos i wanna save battery. its still running smoothly. actually, i dont really care about how much free ram there is, if its smooth then its all right for me. is your phone running smoothly?

My suggestion would be to flash the stock Cincinnati bell sbf. I did that recently it is the most updated one from Motorola and is set at 720 MHz by default. I don't use anything and my ram is around 55-60. Smooth as hell. I use launcherpro. Its prettier, you can choose the keep in memory option which stops it from redrawing the screen. Mine is rooted. I get a day and half of battery life with wifi and autosync in 100% of the time, an hour of GPS, 1 hour gaming, one hour music and the odd texts or calls. Hope that helps. Nothing in my opinion beats stock 2.1

If you have 30m-45m ram and it didn't affect the performance of the phone, then nothing to worry....now if your rom is in the 2.1 stock, you have a problem especially in using camcorder due to low memory... my suggestion is to flash the 2.2 rom like wahhu rom, xda special or the cm6...My ram is in the range of 30m-60m and I'm using the wanhu rom and even the cm6 rom still the performance of the phone is great..... Actually there is something in the phone that eats the ram..... It is one of the reasons why there is a problem in porting the cm7.
P.S. Try to flash the original wanhu rom then apply the latest update of Mioze-update-SC_2.2_XT720_Beta3a-Mz05 and the dark froyo theme.....
Go to cm6. Can't stop saying how smooth and snappy it is

I really want to stay on stock 2.1 cos it has no issues at all until recently the ram problem which was slowing the phone down a lot. even at 1ghz 66vsel and autokill memory optimizer at strict level its quite low ram.

Well,,,,i feel that the de-odexed KPL (2.3.4) firmware with FITDroidv2.0 custom Rom ......both of them are by VISHWANATH PATIL!...i am using it and its supercool, fast, energy efficient and super stable!
if you want official firmware go for Gingerbread DDKQ5
and
if you want custom firmware go for Fitdroid it is very fast than official firmware. and it supports darktremor app2sd which completly moves all apps to SD
and saves a lot of internal memory space;-)
Thanks Vaibhav,
Have seen the post of the entire rom containing darktremor app2sd bundled with the Custom Rom. Could u pls tell me if we move the apps that are actually meant to be on the phone memory, will it affect their working or performance??
KK
I flashed the deodexed XXKPL firmware, FitDroid, Blue Steel theme in the same order.............I must say it is working perfectly and just one bug I feel is that the music player force closes when opened

If you want to save some battery life
try using JuicedDefender it saves a little bit of battery
or use SETCPU and select profile which is best for you
Pratyush creed's rom v1.0
I tested all most all the roms and i found creed's rom v 1.0 is the best for me.
Ram utilization is very low when phone is idle and so the battery performance is better.
Speed is much better than other roms

No there not many bugs in cyanogenmod 7.1.0
the only bugs that i hate its
1.FM does not work even if e use spirit fm app
2.USB tethering does not works
But it can be fixed using weird tether app
And the 801 mhz kernel its little unstable
I faced random reboot issues
So I'm using 763 mhz kernel its stable
And it don't have any issues

well, what if i want to use FM? as i have a favorite radio show in the morning, is there an alternative or fix for this?
How about the battery consumption if i have OC? Will OC have any effects on the processor of Fit?
sorry for having too many questions...
According to my test spirit fm radio doesnot work so tgere is no alternative of it till now
Secondly battery consumption depend on how much do you overclock your processor for eg 700mhz will consume less battery then 800 mhz overclck produces more heat and strain on processor so it can damage your processor over overclock your procesor than stable overclocking

hmm....dont have an alternative for fm...but as far as oc is concerned i too want it to be ported to FitDroid..and dont worry its in progress!...and we'll get it soon....battery backup will definitely be an issue ...i use overclock only while playing games..and i get a nice battery backup!
galaxy fit + CM7.1 (2.3.7) + 801Mhz
I definitely know that there will be an issue with battery consumption which is quite acceptable... but with regards the OC itself, let me compare it to a regular desktop PC...
Say i did overclock my processor, there are definitely a possibility to fry the board or make it overheat, can the same thing happen here?

No i don't see any heating issues,
After OC if you properly configure setcpu
according to your use then battery life is not a big issue

razodroid v2.3 is the best which also has a oc kernel file which supports upto 801mhz and its very stable....+it has darktremour app2sd app so not problems of low internal memory...and it comes with a cyan coloured appearance which is also cool...the battery stays alive upto 2 days for normal use...the only dwarback is that when we change the dpi of the phone...the music app FCs...but dats ok.....
just wait for razodroid v4.0
RazoDroid 4.0 is the best (ADRENALINE SCRIPT)

Anyone else with poor 3d performance on MIUI when compared to other roms?

Hi
I am using Brainmaster's MIUI(the GB one) and i have tested both shadowgun and gta 3 in this rom and on ICS, CM7 and Oxygen.
On MIUI the performance is significantly worse. Is it the rom?maybe because it uses more ram or something. I have already deleted the file "libGLES_android.so" to improve performance and tried a new kernel but still have poor gaming performance when compared to other roms.
Can someone help me?
Thanks
i think it is because MIUI has more pretty UI , yes , more UI occupies more GPU resources
just like windows XP , if you compare XP theme (default of XP)and classic theme (that old one of win98 , Me or 2000 ) , you will feel great different about performance
So if there was an app that disabled Miui UI during gameplay(or something like that) then i would be able to play without performance loss?
I really like MIUI rom and its functionalities but this performance issue is bad=/.
Even with oc at 1.2 its still worse than other roms at 1.0...
in theory u would be right

With everything stock, the RAM is 130MB or even less. In normal use, the RAM management of the stock ROMs is very bad. I get down to 50-70MB before it starts killing apps which results to lag.
The solution is simple but it involves rooting and/or installing custom ROMs. With the stock ROM just remove apps you don't need (there is a full list of the apps in a dedicated thread here). Or install a custom ROM (best for RAM management is CM7 but you will lose most of the 3D functionality).

[Q] Xperia J poor perfomance

So... My J performs a little... bad. Most likely that I got that retarded faulty one. My RAM is never above 150mb free, mostly around 100mb. Antutu benchmark was around 4000 if I remeber correctly. Games are not performing well (and I'm not talking about über games). FreeCiv crashes quite often, probably because lack of RAM. Etc. Is it known to be like that? I'm all stock and JB. Would CM10 help me? And also, what is that actually? What does it change?
Thank you.
CM10 will help, i think that. For me, help a lot, just try, i will never back on stock, its my opinion. Try the new version FXP220 for J.
Games like Ravensword2 or other 3D working well.
I'm running stock JB and root my phone, then delete some useless applications like Facebook, Timescapes etc. Now my phone running fast & smooth, I've use cm10 for sometimes but its not as smooth as stock rom, and my first concern is the camera quality,
Stock rom has like 10x better quality.
Also stock rom has better battery performance.
not trying to have negative tendency to CM10 or something, but its just a comparison based on my experience.

There are lots of mods you can do if you would like to stay on stock install V6 SuperCharger + boost my xperia app they work really well together. Like mikey000 said uninstall or freeze unwanted apps google maps and facebook are the biggest ram eaters and as soon as you have killed them in running services they restart almost instantly. and have as little widgets as possible on the desk top will help aswell.
Depends on games too sometimes.
Subway surfers lags like hell but most wanted is really smooth for me. Poorly optimised games need better hardware

If u want smoothness in your ui and overall performance root you phone and deleted some unwanted bloatware system apps
if u don't care about smoothness but favour performance go with cynaogen mod as its a minimal ui and much better performance...
PS cyanogenmod is just stock pure android with lot of customization options from overclocks to performance tweaks

Those are basically performance scripts which provide various performance tweaks like ram management and all
I would suggest if ur a newbie to root and stuff u root and delete bloarware apps and see the performance if ur not satisfied flash custom rom like cyanogenmod and then if still not happy then play with scripts like v6 as scripts are bit complex

That's not totally right a percentage of ram is set aside for user apps and games which are never cached by the system so the free ram is needed and heavy games need a lot of free ram to run propperly. Evan cached system processes are killed after 30 minutes by android by default so free ram will change up & down as its killing processes just to restart them again the system is wasting ram. Zepplinrox's v6 supercharger changes this as one of it's features from 30 minutes to 24 hours so the system uses less ram and has more free ram for user apps and games.
Running the scripts is not rocket science there really easy read the original thread if that seems intimidating then read the noob tutorial which goes through step by step.
