[Q] WiFi Speed Question - HTC Inspire 4G

Quick question about wi-fi speeds. I have 2 friends at the house, one with a new iPhone 4S and another with a Motorola Droid Bionic. For kicks we compared D/L speeds, and they both get over 20,000k speeds easily. The best my Inspire 4G can do is 7,100k!
So the question is obvious, what's wrong with my phone? The Radio I'm on is the recommended 12.65.60.29P_26.14.04.28_M for ARHD 6.3.1. Could that be the issue, or am I.missing something else? Thanks!

Best I could get is 8.5mbps but my iPhone 4 will do 20 easy. Idk why either.

Not sure why you guys are getting such low speeds. My pc is wired to my router and I get consistent 25mbps speeds. This is what I typically get on wifi with my Inspire. The phone is certainly capable.

Holy ****! Pretty sure its rom related! I'm on CM7 now and get consistent 19-21mbps dl speeds!

BTW this is my kernel/radio combo now on cm7

[Q] Use battery from Evo 4G in the Inspire 4G?

I tried looking up my question, but with no luck. Sorry if this has been asked before.
I know that the HTC Evo 4G, Thunderbolt, and Inspire 4G are sister phones with some differences. I was wondering then if you could use the Evo's 1500 mAh battery in the Inspire.
Granted, it probably wouldn't have that big of a difference in battery life, and I am quite pleased with the battery life I get now, but I have been very curious about this.

Short answer is no. It will not fit.

I just went on ebay and got me 2 batteries and a charger for like 10 bucks 1600mah
I used these similar batteries in my captivate and they were very good. Gave me the same if not a bit better life then the stock

Also, before anyone asks, it's a hardware cap and there's not way to make it so the sensation can support the 42 mbps speed.

Would be nice tho if they could
They told me the only difference is those 2 device has 1.5ghz processor but we're rooted and thanks to daemon we have 1.5ghz too hopefully we could!

This is just semantics but.. 14.4 Mbps is the down cap. 5.7 Mbps on uploads.
I have personally used the a new tmous htc phone thats coming out, it was coined the 'ruby' at the time. I was told it had a 23 Mbps cap and it was pulling in speeds of around
6000 kbps vs my sensation which usually gets around 4500.
*edit* my 2 cents on those phones. Samsung makes a great product but the build quality on those galaxy phones is sub par imo. They are made of plastic! sure its a light device... i personally dont put a gel skin or anything on my phone (naked) so i would choose the htc in that case. Similar specs and a sleeker build quality! tho samsung screens are awesome... dont rack your brain over it, both phones will be awesome!

Sensation VS Amaze

I had an HTC Amaze for about a week and then my wife wanted a smart phone too so I sold it to buy two HTC sensations. The only problem I am having now is that my service where I work is a lot worse with the sensation. I don't know if it is just the phone I have or if it would be the same with any sensation. I found a cheaper HTC Amaze on a craigslist type site here in salt lake and I am thinking of buying it, but I wanted some of your opinions. Should I try to root my sensation and see if with a different radio I get better service or should I buy the HTC Amaze. I have rooted phones before but then I become a flashaholic and I spend too much time on my phone. I like the size of the Sensation but if I don't want to root again would the Amaze be worth the extra hundred I would have to spend over the price I can sale my Sensation for? Your opions and thoughts would be very helpfull.
Thanks
Eddy
Sorry I probably should have posted this in Q&A.
It's. Hard to say because I have nevee used an Amaze and I haven't hhave any issues with my Sensation reception either, someone that have used both might be able to give you their insight.
Sent from my Sensation using XDA App
Try another radio, I've heard that can help if you have reception issues.
Personally, I would not change due to reception issues. You are not at work 24/7...
Sent from my Sensation using xda premium
depends on what phone you like better, i think u miss your old amaze lol
youve got nothing to lose just rooting and flashing another radio really
I don't think sensation is better than Amaze. Everthing is the same but Amaze hasa much much better camera => thumb up
amaze has more ram as well
You need to make sure your RIL file matches the radio you are using. With a matched RIL i get HSDPA signal at hom, without it i barely get EDGE.
go to Settings>About Phone>More>Baseband version (radio)
Then get the matching RIL HERE
Well I think that sensation wins

The amaze has dual radios so it takes two connections at once resulting in a faster speed
i would have to say the amaze since i did experience some lag on the sensation when i had one.

T-Mobile only uses one hspa+ is still 3g. Only wimax and lte have two radios.

Wrong, on both points.
T-Mobile uses dual channel HSPA+, which is essentially 2 21mbps radios slapped together.
And wimax does need dual radios, but LTE only needs 2 on Verizon. On AT&T, it'll all in one radio.

I thought croandroid was an idiot until this post. It really is all about the dev community. Good call.
The Sensation has AMAZING dev support. Has some REALLY talented folks cooking and coding for it, and in general is a great device.
I own a Sensation and my wife owns an Amaze....
I have had LOTS of problems with my sensation though, I've been through 3 sensations through tmobile, and even sent one to HTC to have it looked at. Phone has never been right for me.
Tmo has just issued me a replacement, it will be here monday, they are sending me an Amaze, not nearly the dev support for that phone, but at least i'll be able to have a running phone and able to make calls.

I went through the same thing with my g2x. When it worked it worked great. I ended up swapping it for the gs2 and its amazing. My gf still has her g2x we got at the same time and it random reboots.

Combing two points is a dual cell. Which is one radio capable of dual channels. Other devices still get affected by the network. None of the other non lte or wimax devices improve non lte and wimax devices. Which are separate radios. Two radios slap together is still one radio.
I'm just wondering how at&t can put lte on one radio when a bigger company namely Verizon didn't do it either. T-Mobile is still using its aws frequency and at&t is using 850 and 1900 frequency. For its lte its using 700mhz. Just like Verizon.

Data speeds beat by the amaze

I was at tmobile today and I was comparing our phone against the amaze. The amaze blew away the MT4G on a side by side speed test. My phone was getting almost one quarter of the data speed of the amaze. And no it was not on wifi. Why does the amaze get such faster 4G speed? Does it have a better radio?
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using XDA App
Faster HSPA+ support.
Because everyone stupidly abandoned the MT4GS.

Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using xda premium
Could the radio from the amaze be moved to the MT4GS? And would out improve our 4G speed?
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using XDA App
Its probably the hardware of the radio. Not the radio software. Like the Droid Razr has a new "Micro" LTE radio Which is thinner and apparently is resulting in bettery battery.
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using xda premium
I would so change over to the amaze if I could. if just for the speed
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using XDA App
I would too, the only phone I'd give up a physical keyboard for.
Can you tell us the results from speednet? I m curious to know the difference.
Sent from my DoubleShot Lite
7 vs 21, 5 vs 18, 6 vs 22 6 vs 16 mbps. I ran about 20 tests and the amaze blue the MT4G out of the water. Any where from 3 to 4 times faster. I never saw the amaze drop below 12mbps where my phone would be as low as 3. Now that sucks.

This might be diving into conspiracy theory here, but maybe it's because it's a t mobile demo phone?

That is a possibility. They did not have a working MT4G for me to compare. Only the dummy phone.

this thread makes no sense.
according to specs, mt4gs supports 14.4 mbps hspa+ while amaze supports 42 mbps hspa+
it's only logical that the amaze is way faster.

Or this. I was too lazy to dive into the specs. Honestly, though, I get around 6 down speed most everywhere I go, which is plenty fast for me. IMO, once you get above six or seven down, the internet connection is no longer the bottle neck that's slowing your phone down.

Wow I'm surprised that the amaze is much faster data wise. The phones were both released within a few months of each other.
I need to check out the amaze's specs. I wonder if its faster overall.

It is, faster overall, faster data speed, faster processor (1.5 ghz) the same one on the mytouch just that is not the underclock version, camera is the same. But one thing is that the battery is just the worst on the amaze because of higher clocked speed on the processor

When I first bought this phone way back when it launched I liked it because everyone listed as having 21 mbps.. now I looked again and you see different specs depending on which website you visit.. I really don't know who to believe.

I hope that I wasn't lured to this phone by a lie. The cell phone market is full of a lot of unethical practices :/

t-mobile official specs lists it as 14.4 mbps.
Qualcomm's msm8260 official specs say the chipset has 28.8 mbps capability.
some random sites say it supports 21 mbps.
which one is the right one? dunno, but officially the phone is 14.4 and besides that, as someone already said, when you get over 5-6 mbps speed is not that much of a problem anymore so w/e
Too bad I barely get 1 mbps... 4g on tmobile was way faster back when they first launched 4g. When they launched 21 mbps in this market there wasn't really any speed difference. Still betweem 1 & 2 mbps :/

T-Mobile inspire internet on Simple mobile?

So I know that a AT&T inspire unlocked will only get edge connection on "simple mobile" carrier. Is it the same with a T-Mobile inspire?
Sent from my LG-E739 using xda premium
There is no T-Mobile inspire. you're stuck on edge until tmo finishes refarming their 1900mhz and let's mvnos have access to it
I don't know about simple mobile or where you live......... but as of last week my EDGE is practically gone. The surrounding area where I live has been refarmed and I have HSDPA.
My mistake, I could have sworn it came on another carrier.
I need a phone with the same specs as Inspire for T-Mobile. Any ideas? Screen size too.
Right now I have the LG My touch e-739 I believe it is, don't like it compared to inspire at all.
Sent from my LG-E739 using xda premium
The HTC mytouch4g I would say is the closest spec wise to the inspire. Its screen size is a little smaller(3.8 vs 4.3). I personally didn't like it an felt it lagged though my experience was on a really beat up phone. I'd personally jump up to a sensation/amaze/gs2. Why not get an inspire and use straight talk its a bit cheaper than simple mobile
Sounds good. Its either amaze or sensation.which one do you think?
Sent from my LG-E739 using xda premium
Personally I would pick the sensation. The amaze feels to heavy.
Just read an article on tmonews that tmo is 75% done with their ref arming of the 1900mhz spectrum
