[Q] Should I keep this new infuse or keep it? - Samsung Infuse 4G

I bought a advertised "brand new" infuse from amazon seller. It came with intact(which is a little not that "new intact", seller said that it was due to sim card removal) but the fatal issue is the battery is inside the phone when it came, should I keep it, or return it?
I can't use ##786# to check RTN and see if it's actually new one. I tried someone else's infuse from ATT store and RTN doesn't work as well.Is there any way to test it?
Thanks

Should you keep it or keep it... hmm I say keep it. Loooool. What you can do is call ATT give them the IMEI and ask when it was activated.

well if it works, the screen is NEW.... the sim card reads your sim.... whats the problem? probably not new... but if it works like new one whats the big difference...? thats MY thought... you dont have to share my "philosophy" but as long as it works ans looks like new, the battery thing could be a minor slip form the seller cusiousity to turn it on and forgot to take the battery out.
IF it has dents or scratches... the battery runs out SUPER fast or you have troubles with calls etc then problably you should return it.
But as long as it works like NEW and looks like NEW probably the seller put the battery in by curiuosity, I did it with the first Infuse I sold i just put the battery on so it "looked cool"... yeah.... dont judge me lol never did that again lol.

[Q] Sim Card/SD cover replacement

Hey so I was swapping SD cards out and cracked my cover. Still in one piece but cracked directly in the center of the cover.
I have a warranty store about 10 minutes from me. I am rooted and I was wondering if I should just call for a new one over the phone or just take it to the warranty store and ask for another one.
I don't want to root to stock in fear of having them see what I have going on and screw me over...
What do you guys think?
Also, havent noticed if it has effected actual signal strength yet..

I don't think they'll need your phone for it at the store, so it might be worth it to go and try there. I got replacements for both my SIM and battery door covers after both broke, and they took only a few days to get here from HTC, so if you do decide to call in it shouldn't be too long of a wait.

Appreciate your reply, I'd like to just use the store but I dont want any unwanted attention, also, do you have a reputable number to call for HTC?

I had a SIM card stop working and wanted a repalcement right away so waltzed into the ATT retail store...at first it didn't get data so the gal grabs the phone and reboots it...she sure gave me the quizzical eye when she saw my Virtuous Unity boot splash, and then goes into settings and sees the check boxes are all themed blue..made comments about blinged out phone and she never saw anything like that...point is
i was taking a chance...at the warranty center they might be a little more unforgiving...for something like that I might think about going through HTC...just trying to put myself in your shoes...

This is the number I've successfully gotten replacements from: 1-888-617-1113
All you need is some basic information like your name, a shipping address, and your phones IMEI number.
I would just take it to the store and ask for one. There's no reason for them to look at your phone or go through your settings if all you need is a cover for the SD card. Put a pin or pattern unlock on it so they can't see anything and it should be fine.
Just get it from HTC they will have it to you in a couple of days and you do not have to mess with AT&T, besides AT&T would not have the replacements for the cover, I got both of mine replaced from HTC and there was no problem getting them from them.

Heh! I might do that too . Too be honest it was kinda fun with my experience with the ATT gal...of course I didn't say "I'm rooted"...she just say it's a bling'd out phone and I say "Yeah" prolly with a sheepish grin...
Im just gonna prolly call htc, signal strength seems pretty fair so fair.
Thanks for the input and information guys.

UPS/ Replacement phone!

Let me start of by blaming myself for this incident.
I should of checked the package before I signed for it and let the UPS driver go.
Today my replacement was delivered and all I got was an empty box.
Upon delivery I was watching my niece and didn't think twice about it, I grabbed the box signed for it and went to check on her.
Afterwards I went to check out the replacement only to find out the box was tampered with and there was nothing inside.
I immediately called T-Mobile to make them aware of the situation.
They said they will investigate the situation and get back to me.
At this point I'm not sure what's gonna happen, I hope I don't get charged for it, but either way it will be a learning experience for me.
I have read about people going through this just never thought it would happen to me.
Please anyone else getting a replacement phone
** Check your UPS package **
Before you sign for it.
If anyone else had this happen to them I would like to know what happened at the end?
Did you end up paying?
Did you also called UPS?
The Tmo rep told me no, but should I call them anyways?
....
You should call UPS, this happened to me but not with a phone so I called UPS because I received an empty box
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
My idiot UPS guy never lets me open the box until I sign for it. I get alot of big packages, and he doesn't stay and wait for me to open them. I'm afraid something like this will happen to me in the future :L
Anyways... Good luck man. Hope you don't have to pay for the phone.

T-Mobile will definitely issue you another G2x. When they say they are investigating all they are doing is waiting for someone to pop a sim card into the reported stolen phone. They are making sure that you don't have the phone so the minute someone else uses the phone then you will receive a call back.

Yes, they were going to, but I no longer needed it! So I told them not to send me another one.
You see I was stuck on the S/W screen like many so I went ahead and requested a replacement.
The next day I got it running again and I called T-Mobile to cancel the order, but was told it was too late.
They told me to either send replacement back or my original phone.
I have some screen bleed on this one and I was going to see if my replacement was better.
Guess I'll never know now.
....
Sounds fishy. You ordered a replacement, had it stolen, then didn't need another. Lol
Not saying your lying but giving you my 3rd person view.
I did the same thing except I returned the placement. The one I got has nasty screen bleed and by the time I got mine, I already had mine fixed.
Shouldn't be no big thing but who's to say you didn't take the phone, sit on it for a while, then sell it?
Basically be careful with your story so you don't end up eating the cost of the other one.
I had a similar story where they dropped it off at the empty house next door where it sat for a week. I called and reported it stolen but they said it was delivered and I went looking for it. T-Mobile seemed as though they were going to charge me for the replacement until I found it. I told them what happened and had to PAY to send it back.

I agree his story does sound fishy, but you never know. He could be telling the God honest truth. If it was me I would of let them send another phone because T-Mobile keeps notes of everything and they might have him down for suspicious activity.
Also in your case I honestly would of never let T-Mobile know I found the phone next door at an abandoned house. These two stories would raise flags. I'm not calling any of you liars, I'm just looking from the outside in and from where I stand the stories are sort of hard to believe. I hope you guys understand.

Yeah, it does sound fishy, but I'm telling the truth!
Why would I bother lying on here there nothing for me to gain,
I just want to make people aware of my situation so it don't happen to anyone else.
Tmo has everything on record, including when I tried to cancel it!
I could of had them ship me another one, but at this point didn't feel like possibly going through the same thing again.
But it is what it is, I wish I had the handset for resell and this was all made up. Unfortunately it's not, and I just might have to pay for it.
It's a mistake I might have to pay for and definitely learn from.
I just hope Tmo can somehow lock the serial number so that handset can't be used.

I don't think you lying cause like you say what can you possibly gain by lying to us (the people of XDA)? As long as you never put your sim card in the phone of question then you will not be charged at all. T-Mobile won't lock the phone because at the end of the day they still get paid for that phone through insurance and because whoever is using that phone most likely is using it on T-Mobile service so they will continue to get paid one way or the other.

To me this is like your luggage getting stolen at the airlines. I don't understand how the employees get away with it. They can follow packages and luggage every step of the way. How is it that they can't figure out which employees are stealing?

I'm pretty sure they have an idea, but without solid proof they can not even accuse anyone of stealing since its the law. All they would do is probably set them up and hope they take the bait. I would definitely assume its UPS stealing it rather than T-Mobile because they weigh the boxes before they ship and I would think UPS would question why the package weighs the same as an empty box and possibly take note of it since they are partnering with a major company (T-Mobile).

ha yeah I had this problem. 4 times in a freakn row I had this problem - yes that's right I got 4 empty boxes delivered from UPS. I jacked around with them for 2 months about this as matter of fact. My end result was the 5th time there was actually a damn phone in the box - however the whole thing (among many other problems) pissed me off so bad I canceled my contract. My theory is that someone at one of the UPS hubs was stealing the phones. Talked to several people at UPS about it and probably 25+ people at t-mobile about it.
In my case, after the 1st empty box, I had a friend make a video of the UPS guy handing me the box, and then me opening an empty box so there was no "you lie" excuse from t-mobile. The phones were being delivered to my office via a UPS driver we see 3 times a day here (we do lot of biz with them) - so either t-mobile was sending empty boxes or some UPS employee was ripping them off.

Honestly when you're watching a 3 yr. old little girl and shes running around the last thing you're worried about is the weight of the box.
Like I said I blame myself for not paying more attention, but when it's never happened to you and you've had several replacements delivered you don't think nothing of it.

This was my main concern, which is why I opted out of getting another replacement, I know the culprit is still out there and it could happen again, with my luck.
But wow 4 times, that sucks.

Not that you said it, but just for the record it can also be the package handler (the person who loads the truck) stealing it instead of the driver. I had a friend who used to work as a package handler and his thieving ass would steal the phones until one day he was caught.

I'm sorry this happened to you. I'm in charge of the shipping department for a well known retailer and we have issues more than I would care for with UPS. What usually happens is somewhere in their hub someone cuts opens the box, opens the box the product is in, steals the item, puts the empty product box back in the shipping box, and then tapes the box up. Nobody finds out until it reaches the destination.
I hope that perhaps T-Mobile messed up and that you can get your replacement phone quickly.

When I had my Vibrant replacements they would just leave them by the door and now with the G2X Ive had to sign for both replacements.
I guess it depends on driver.
....
The op story sounds more legit than the kid who received four empty boxes and did not check any of them or make better plans for shipping after the first three turned up empty. At least the op is aware.

My Warranty Replacment Experience

Well, to start off the new year right, my original G2x stopped sending/receiving SMS messages under any circumstances, whether it was on wifi, 4G, Edge, or GPRS. I unrooted it and got a new SIM card, still have the same issue (according to the person at the T-Mobile store, I had a "2G SIM card in a 4G phone.") They suggest a whole new phone, and I agree.
One day later with overnight shipping, I get my new G2x, and the first thing I notice is the LG branding in place of the T-Mobile branding. Ignoring that, I turn on the phone only to see dead pixels everywhere, I don't understand how they could have even sent this one out. I call up customer care and they make me go through the whole troubleshooting procedure, and they decided to send me another one. They also told me if this next one had problems, they'd send me a replacement phone of a different model.
So I'm getting a new G2x sent to me tomorrow. I hope this next one works just fine, or I'll have to get a new phone. Also, what replacement phones do they usually offer for the G2x?
I have been through this process, I'm on my third G2x and CC told me if I ha e anymore problems with my G2x then they will give me a different phone.e... When I asked what them replacement model would be the CC Rep told me they could only exchange it for the Sidekick 4G and I told them I would just deal with the G2x and any problems it my have

On the g2x if you hold the power and down button, it should just do a master reset, it's not like HTC where it takes you to recovery (correct me if I'm wrong) but just to make sure your unrooted try to download and use a app that requires root

Thanks! so it doesn't boot into a stock recovery mode to master reset, that's weird I could have swore it had a blue boot screen maybe im thinking of my galaxy.
BTW a little ot but im wondering if you know about mobile security from asurion is it free?

Non-functioning display (works now) vs "Like New Certified Replacement"

So what would you do in this situation. Last Friday my touch screen stopped working. I was getting emails, texts, phone calls (could answer on car BT only), etc. Stopped in Verizon(not a repair center), they pulled battery but no go. They ordered my a rplacement. On Saturday, in prep for new phone, I pulled SIM and SD out. Powered up, and the thing works perfect. Strange huh?
With that being said, what would you do? Keep current phone, which I bought brand new, or keep and use replacement? For some reason, I don't want the refurb. The verizon guy did say that they do send out brand new ones that have the same "Like New Certified Replacement" sticker on them. Anyway to tell if its brand new or refurb? It has an 8/8/12 date on it.
I'm not trying to be rude but, can you see any defects with the phone that make you think it's a refurb? Like scuffs or anything?
If not, that as far as you can tell it's new, why does it matter? If it looks exactly like a new phone than it may be new, or a very good condition refurb. Either way it's still an S3 in "new" condition

Someone once said that any 'void warranty' type stickers on a refurb, like they put over the screw heads, are a different color then they ones on a new unit. Not sure if that is true.
It looks like its new. For some reason I feel if its a refurb, it was defective and then fixed and that is worse than my brand new I bought. Although mine seems to be defective as well.

Dude most cln new replacements this early in the game are brand new devices. Verizon has these phones in stock use common sense the phone has been out for around 2 months now millions are out there there are not enough refurbs to replace everyones defective devices. That being said even if it is a true cln device they are usually perfectly acceptable. If you have problems with it swap it for another.

use anycut to make a shortcut to RTN that will till you if it's a refurbished phone

Thanks for the info "DUDE", but I'm well aware how new the phone is. That doesn't mean its not a refurb.

Do you want to keep your used one that now works or accept a used that that works. Seems like an equal trade off to me.
How much faith do you have that your fix will stick?

I don't think the anycut app works for the RTN because I have a CLNR from Vzw and it says it wasn't reconditioned

I recently got a Refurb phone which fixed my radio issues. I'm 99% sure its brand new. You don't get a battery or a back cover and that's the only difference.

Because as stated this phone has just recently been released. There are not enough returns they simply have new devices in stock to replace defective ones. What you got was a brand new device. How are people still not getting this?

some people are getting replacements though, I know mine is. (when the sticker under the battery with the IMEI/MEID is all bent like it was 1/2 pulled off, and replaced on, its a sign...)

"Bra" here seems to be the authority on this topic...j/k
I guess at the end of the day, if there was a way of knowing what they sent me brand new its a no brainer. It looks like there is no way of really knowing for sure, which is no real big deal. My current phone seems to be working fine since that strange incident, but having it flake out last Friday was a nightmare. Having this for work email when out of the office is critical, so I should really just swap it to avoid the incident again.
Anycut will make short cut to veiw rtn this is what you'll see, under reconditioned mine says no

So I booted up the phone they sent me, and it says "safe mode" in the lower left corner of the screen. Did some app updates, rebooted and "safe mode" is gone. Any thoughts now on refurb or brand new? I did not boot mine original phone up myself to see if "safe mode" was there on that one. It was done by sales guy at verizon.
Now the new phone is acting really strange. While doing a google backup restore of all my apps, the phone became unresposive. Just did a battery pull, which was required, now working ok.
Could my problem be my sim card? Original problem was resolved when I booted without sim card.
i told you how to check
About 3 weeks ago I got fed up with my ridiculously poor radio and called CS. In the end they sent me a "certified replacement". My certified replacement was 100% certainly a refurb. All the micro antenna covers were missing. The Serial number sticker under battery was two times the size of original and looked like it had been printed on a 1980's dot matrix printer, and best of all, it had exactly ZERO wifi reception, probably the reason it went in in the first place. After fighting with these ignorant A$$hats at CS for another few hours, and being told a software update would repair it, I finally got them to send me another. The CS told me the same BS seen above, about how these aren’t really refurbs yet. I'm guessing the bulk of them aren't, but there sure as heck are some out there, and if mine is any example of their level of technical refurb prowess, then I would be very leery and fully test the device before accepting it as good. I ended up sending them the refurb back in it's same box. Third phone at least worked, seems new, and has marginally better radio so I guess I'm sticking with it.
Later,
Jason

Guys, I need help with OPO

Hello, my mom really wanted a new phone fast because right now she uses an old samsung and it's has some problems but for her phone is in need because of work... So in eBay we found an awesome deal! OnePlus One auction, and we won that phone only for 37 pounds. Phone has to come tomorrow, but I was scrolling through eBay and I wanted to read some feedbacks on seller again so I went to OPO information and then I readed that phone doesn't pick up any network. So, I know that mother will kill me because network will not work. So I wanted to ask, is there any way fix that fast without any parts changing? Just change something in settings and it will work?
Are you serious dude?
Ever heard of "If it looks too good to be true, then it probably is"?
If it was that easy to fix then it would have been sold for far more than £37. Basically, no chance of fixing it in settings I'd guess, but you could try flashing a factory ROM image and praying lots.
Not sure until you actually get the phone and see what's wrong with it.
Soo, phone came and any sims doesn't work on him. So we took it to the repair, they told that they will see if they can fix it. So we waited until next day, they told that they will try to fix it until today. We came to the repair and they told that they changed the sim tray and problem still exist and they said to us to wait until tomorrow if phone gets any better they will call us. But my mom wanted to know, can be that problem can't be fixed at all?
Does the phone show IEMI in Settings/About Phone/Status/IEMI Information? "do not post your IEMI" just let know if does.
For the price you've paid inc the repair you could have got a Nexus 5 in good condition on Ebay.

I think so that it shows IMEI, I can't check right now because phone is teardowned and I saw that antenna was corrupted so we gonna changed it on Thursday and what about nexus 5, we could get it but only 16gb but my moms needs more memory so .
And more about IMEI, last time when I checked IMEI was in place but I don't know what about last time when I restored the phone after flashing ROMs .
If you have TWRP installed try backing up the EFS partition. That's where the IMEI is stored.
There's no more problems after antenna change, thanks everyone who tried to help!
