Froyo on ICS? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone know how I could get the old colors .. like that status bar and volume / slider / circle animation BACK .. I always liked Froyo but I have to Use ICS because for some reason other roms are messing up on my phone .. any way ?

I didn't even know there were Froyo ROMs for Nexus S, since it was the first phone having 2.3 (gingerbread). What froyo are you talking about? Gingerbread is easily available, stock and custom also, very stable.

Stock Froyo with black status bar?

I'm running stock froyo rooted and modified to my liking. I have my phone running very stable with great battery life and dont want to mess around with flashing any customs ROMs just yet, atleast not until we have a stable CM release or until we get our hands on the G2x 2.3 OTA. However I do miss having a black status bar. I was able to accomplish getting it by replacing stock frame-res with the eagles blood one and replacing the file so the clock will be white but since its pulled from a custom ROM there were also other modifications made to it and I wasnt happy with it. I dont mind doing some editing my self if I knew which files and lines to edit. I would just like to run the stock froyo with a black status bar and white clock with no icon bugs if possible. Any thoughts or ideas?

[Q] Changing the Design?

Well I want to pre-order my Sensation now (20th of June first stock on UK :O)
but something is bothering me.. I was in the UK 2 weeks ago I think (MUN vs Barca match :O) and I tried the Sensation on Vodafone and the Galaxy S II on somewhere else.
I didn't really notice any major difference, except the little uhm... "un-completely-smoothness" in both of them.. but that's usual if I understood correctly. (I mean not like the iPhone or something like that)
Still, the Sensation and in general any HTC device attracted me because of several reasons- one was the design of the system. (The lock screen with the ring, the bottom bar with the Phone and Menu buttons and all of this) and I wanted to ask:
If CM7 will come to the Sensation (as I saw in one thread here), will I be able to use CM7 on the Sensation but change the design to HTCs' original design? (As I mentioned above)
Thanks! and sorry for the length of this ><
When the bootloader of the device is finally unlocked, we will most probably get CM7 support. CM7 is an optimized stock gingerbread rom and you will get the standard stock android interface and design. You can't have Sense functions on CM7, such as the lockscreen and the widgets because it's a different rom (operating system, actually). So, no you won't be able to have the Sense interface on CM7. And there's no point in doing so - if you like Sense, just keep HTC's stock rom .

Oh thanks... thought there might be a chance
I think I won't keep HTC's stock rom if the difference will be big eh ><.

[Q] Gingerbread look

Can we get a rom or theme that has a Gingerbread status bar (bars/WiFi bars/battery icon etc.) and similarly themed drop down panel?
I see tons of roms but they're either tacky or stock. The theme in the theme/apps section doesn't work with the T-Mobile USA Sensation 4G stock rom and the dev is completely uninterested in fixing the issue nor does he want to outline that flashing it will get you a soft brick because of the quick settings mods.
So, I'm wondering if a dev is nice enough to take the time out to offer a theme or rom with a GB look that works with the T-Mobile USA rom for the Sensation 4G.
You should just have to flash a Sense ROM and then replace the battery & 3G/4G icons with the green stock gingerbread ones

[Q] 2.3.3

Has anyone had an evo shift, which on 2.2 had problems, did 2.3.3 help any if not most of the problems on 2.2?
Like what are talking about? Anything in particular your looking for an answer on?
If you have 2.2 root it and run a custom rom and youll have no problems. If you were wondering about the sense reloading issue its still there. I had about 2 in all my months of owning a shift then i had to send it back cause it broke and now i have 2.3.3 and I've had about a dozen in a week. The stock messaging app still does that annoying thing where you type and it jumps all the way to the top of your texts also.
GB has had an issue with Sense reloads since release. You can try V6 SuperCharger for the reloads. I've used it, works on both stock and custom roms.

[Q] Drop-down menu widgets?

Hey guys. I switched from my slow, glitchy, and just aging captivate to the nexus S a few days ago, and I love it.
There are a couple things I miss though - the big one being the quick setting widgets in the drop down menu. I don't care if it's an app/widget from the market, or something I have to flash in to the rom. I just want those settings up there.
Is there a way to add those without flashing another rom? I like stock gingerbread (and I'll be switching to ICS when it comes out OTA for 9020A) and I don't want to flash a custom rom like CM or something. I'm rooted, but other than that I'm stock 2.3.6.
Other things I miss are a predictive dialer, and swype. If you can help me out there too I'd be greatly appreciative!
Edit: Oh, and the music controls shown in the menu would be nice too! (but only if it will work for google music)
When I moved to the NS from a Vibrant I felt the same way. There is no way to do it without some modding and I don't remember ever seeing a simple flashable zip to add it to GB. I ended up having a love hate relationship with CM7 but have moved to ICS and there is a mod to add it to some ICS roms in the dev section. I have yet to bother adding it.
Anyway, yes it can be done but not without some flashing or modding but if you aren't wanting to do that you are out of luck.
You can get similar functionality to pics with widget locker or extended controls, you get an icon or space in the status bar though. GB doesn't support it.
Music widget as above is available in stock ics too.

I really like stock, but I can flash if I *have* to... I've had a love hate relationship with CM myself, I felt like it took a little too much effort to keep up and running.. With the Google apps packs, and the nighties and constant backing up and flashing, you know. Is CM up to ICS for the Nexus S 9020a yet?
I also recently came from the captivate. I was also determined to stay stock and wait for the ics ota but....
The development for the ns is light years ahead of what you and I were used to and i am impressed after flashing a pretty much stock ics rom with a custom kernel. No toggles in the drop down but it sure is nice having everything working like it should. Fast and smooth! Peter Alphonso's ics
Eugene's Speedy 3 kernel
