This is a very serious issue with the LCD panel to these phones, guys please check your G2X at an angle and see if theres anything like that on your phone; if there is, take pictures and contribue to that forum. Things like this shouldn't go unnoticed, this is obviously a defect.
I already made my post, help others out with these phones too. Obviously the Backlight bleeding isn't the only issue here.
I do notice this issue on my phone when viewed at an angle. You can follow the line to see how long it is too.
Damn. This really sucks. Tmo actually sent me a refurbished unit for a replacement? See attached pics. WTF. I called and got transferred to the loyalty department and they apologized and sent me out a new phone that is arriving this Thursday.
However, this definately is a separate issue from the screen bleed and I guess the only good thing is she told me I had 20 days from this Thursday to return it for a full refund.
That is terrible! I have seen this issue personally on my 2nd and 3rd replacements and showed it to store manager. The store manager showed me his G2x which also had it and he said its normal. Well its not normal even if two or more G2x have it.
It almost looks like they used free glue from post office to glue the glass to touchscreen. Its very cheap looking construction for a phone in this class.
Another issue I have seen is you can see white line of LCD lights even when screen is off, it almost looks like white teeth of a comb coming out from the top edge. I haven't seen this on any other phones before so its not normal.
Haven't I seen one of these threads before?
Don't like it? Exchange your phone. Or return it. Or mail it to me. Hey, at least your stress level will go down.

Fair enough.
What I don't like about these posts is you're going to make people look for defects they may never ever notice for the lifetime of the device and exchange it for no freaking reason, raising everyone's costs.
I wonder if T-Mobile would have even considered selling if they weren't spending stupid amounts of money exchanging perfectly good phones.

Agreed ! Most people won't notice it, but LG is responsible here for no QA. Its upto the people to decide whether a tiny white line on screen bugs them enough for an exchange.
I am against the acquisition as well. LG should bear the cost not Tmobile since its LG's fault.

I'm glad we can agree on something! haha... I agree, it really is poor manufacturing/QA.
yes, haha... very few times on these forums a discussion ends this way, usually it ends up in a thread closure...
Hi
I noticed that as well but I really love this phone and I'm sick and tired of always finding new things wrong with it so screw it. When you buy the first batch of a new product thats what u get maybe youll feel better knowong that those who will buy the phone in a few months from now will not be having these issues. This phone is great, has its problems but great. U dont like it send it back and wait for the sensation

New Topic isn't a suggestion, and the search button exists for a reason.
We -KNOW- there are some phones with issues and Light leakage, many Backlight phones have these problems, EVO 4G springs to mind when thinking about it. Most people just don't care enough about it.
I went to the store to exchange due to this issue but the rep outright refused to do the exchange because he said they were designed that way and he said I was nitpicking and wouldn't honor my 30 day exchange period. He obviously has no knowledge or even the faintest clue on lcd's and I instantly called customer care and reported the incident. I'm now expecting a replacement in the mail next week and will keep calling for replacements until I get a unit without defects. (Already exchanged once at the same store but different rep).

You guys really know how to jump on the god damn wagon for sure, so if people can't complain about manufacturing defects or let people KNOW about the issue (the LCD LEAKING issue, not the backlight bleeding) how the hell are we suppose to let manufacturers know that they can't charge a crapton of money for something literally built like it was a joke?
Also, no where did I say that you should go complain to T-Mobile, I already sent my email to LG, NOT T-Mobile. Keep trolling kids, I'm pretty sure if you had some defect you hated with your phone and made a thread about it; you wouldn't be hating like you are now.

I noticed this issue on mine as well. Sucks.. I am exchanging it. Especially when I paid full retail price for it.
I got my tab back from RMA (doa) they replaced the screen and there is now a speck between the screen and glass... I can live with the light bleed but this speck is frikin annoying Its not a dead pixel with the device off it is clearly seen under the glass... HELP i am sooo annoyed and I dont want to rma again! How do you take this thing apart?
Thanks!
You don't want to risk taking the thing apart. If you **** it up it's your fault and Asus will NOT give you free warranty service after the fact.
If you can't live with it you have to call Asus and tell them you want them to fix this. They'll probably tell you to prove that they did this by taking a picture of something that's impossible to take a picture of.
Good luck. Another casualty of ****ty Asus QC and an even ****tier RMA service.

I don't hate the TF, I do hate the way service is handled. Your whole post and your line of reasoning is so ****ing flawed it makes me embarassed just to see how embarassing you are. A case of serious contact embarassment. I should sell the TF and I must hate it because I hate how Asus runs things and I hate their QC? Are you stupid or just deficient?
By the way, ****ting on threads would be like what you're doing, making a moronic post that doesn't even begin to answer the OP on a thread, instead you sidetrack the whole discussion. Great job you selfish asshole. I don't "**** on" threads, I tell it like it is. I don't lie about the RMA process or QC, it's the truth (in less than flattering terms) and it's relevant to the OP. Next time you want to send me a love letter go do it by PM instead of hijacking another persons thread.

Sounds good until you miss a clip and break it. It doesn't really matter how good you or your fam is at doing this. There's a chance for anything to break especially when you're dealing with a particular device you haven't had any experience disassembling before.

There was a disassembly thread somewhere here that shows a minor teardown. Do a google search for it. Although I'm not sure it goes as far as the screen and glass. In addition you have no way to guarantee that you won't introduce more dust since I doubt you own a clean room. I highly advise you contact Asus first, you don't want to do this. There are too many risks that outweigh removing a stupid fleck from between the screen and glass. You'll end up breaking clips that hold the back to the bezel and then you finish up the job, fire the unit up and FUUUUUUUUUUU there are eight huge pieces of dust under the screen. Oops.
My I noticed a spec of dust last night on my TF and concur that its driving me crazy! Would asus' warranty cover something like this?

figured I would post one last update and fix for anyone else affected. I (accidentally) dropped it and it went away as well as the sd card heating up issue. So if anyone else has any issues with this tablet try smacking it into the floor (Hard wood is preferred but it should also work with tile)

Well I did it. Dropped my phone last week. Spiderweb cracks all over the screen
So I made an Asurian claim.
As a few may remember, I had a heck of a time getting a good one. This one was my fifth. I have been super happy with it. It has been performing perfectly.
My question is, How are people liking their replacements? Any screen bleed? Reboots? Issues?
If you've had issues, how has Assurion been to deal with? After having a near about perfect one, I don't think I can abide a bad one.
It'll be here tomorrow, so I'll know soon enough what I'm getting.
Just curious what others have experienced....
Assouron company are thiefs try not do deal with them i have had bad experience with them in the past fix it your self that's what I would recommend
What is the deductible you have to pay? I think it is $80.00, is this correct? LG will replace the entire front of the phone with digitizer for less than that. I would go with the LG repair route rather than take the chance on another phone.
Find the replacement part buy it for cheap, Google instructions and DIY problem solved
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I believe my deductible was $130.00. Expect a refurbished phone. No issues with it so far.
You are correct, $130.00 total. I expect a refurbed one. The one I had was a refurb and was perfect except for a scratch in the screen which drove me nuts until I realized the phone worked perfectly.....
It's arriving as I type.......oooooh!.....it looks like a new box......hold on I'm opening the box. Bear with me a sec........
I'm back. If this is refurbed, I'll eat my hat.
I'll post later with my impressions, but it does look new. Not a mark on it......even the battery prongs look shiny and new. I'm stoked.

Hey guys, New to the HTC sensation threads (its my Girlfriends phone)
Got her this phone about 6 months ago - 1 week after having it she dropped it and broke the digitizer anyway i got that fixed at my local phone shop with aftermarket digitizer - it worked well but you could tell it was not genuine.
anyway the other week i dropped it and broke the lcd screen yet the digitizer is fine and the phone is still 100% useable - except the display looks awful.
Does anyone know if this is an easy fix, is it worth fixing myself or taking it to the phone shop - Im embarrassed to go back and explain how it has broke again lol.... But i need to get it fixed, Im so close to having my wang removed by my girlfriend.
I was wondering whether or not HTC themselves would repair it ? and maybe replace the digitizer too, I dont mind paying the extra £££ for genuine parts and to be fixed by genuine HTC repairmen..
Any ideas how i can get out this mess ??
sorry for the long post.
Thanks
Off course HTC will repair it, but it'll take longer and probably charge you a lot more than what you can it fixed for.

Haha, no i did not.. But as soon as i get it fixed im gunna invest in a bulletproof / bombproof carbon kevlar box and keep it locked inside it !!!
Was it bought through a carrier or sim free? Could always take it to your carrier and see what they suggest, although they're not normally the cheapest, but at least it should get done properly.
Yeah i got it through vodafone, I think i will give them a call and see what they say.
I was considering taking out insurance, then in a few days call them and tell them its broken, This is risky.... what do you think the odds are with me getting away with it ?
Do you think they would notice the aftermarket digitizer ? It is an exact replica with HTC on it....

No, you won't get away with it, and it's dishonest, anyway. Don't make yourself a criminal over a cell phone.
Now, that being said, check Ebay. There are lots of vendors in the UK and elsewhere (lots here in the US) that sell replacement screen kits, many of which include instructions and tools.
If you're handy with small tools and careful, you can do this yourself for a fraction of what it will cost you to have it done. I learned this when my kid's iPod battery died some years ago. They're not user replaceable, and Apple wanted some outrageous amount to do it, plus you had to send it away. I found a guy on line that sold batteries with tools and directions, and in 20 minutes, she was good as new.
Pays to do it yourself.

I totally agree with you !! i do not want to result to fraudulent behaviour... BUT, i dont want to pay approx £80 for parts and make the whole situation worse by possibly making more damage.
BUT i also dont want to pay approx £150 - £200 thinking i could of fixed it for much less by doing it myself.
I am good with stuff like that and am very gentle and careful..... but i dont believe in myself lol
I recently replaced mine. Its not too terribly hard to do. But you have to get it just right. Currently the digitizer is a bit slow and unresponsive at time but I think i didnt get it in there completely right. So I'm going to dissaimble is again today and get it suck in better and see of that helps

Since the Sensation screen is made by two different manufactures is it possible to mix and match them or do you have to replace the screen with the same one with phone came with? I have a Sensation that needs a LCD that I have not taken apart yet. Im wanting to get the better screen but im not sure if I can just put the better screen in it if thats not what it came with in the first place.

Well it's much better to replace it with the same display just to be sure it's going to work. There's also a side by side comparison of the Sharp and Acer (AUO) displays
That said, you can check what panel you have using the instructions on this thread:

Well I got the screen and digitizer from the link above today. Installed it and its perfectly fine. No lag anywhere, registers touch like the stock one did. The LCD panel seems to be the same quality as the AUO panel but thats fine with me since im pretty sure this phone came with the AUO from the factory. If you do decide to replace your screen and digitizer i suggest getting them as separate pieces. Having them attached to each other made it sorta difficult to get back together cleanly.

well the day after i got it fixed i knocked it off the side onto tiled flooring, it cracked the lcd but not the digitizer... so weird lol
anyway since then i have had some signal issues with my provider, they have established that the handset is faulty, they are collecting it to repair it.
I still havent had the screen fixed so im just going to see what happens when they go to repair it, Maybe they will think they broke the screen and fix it before returning it to me. Or maybe they wont.... if thats the case i will argue with them that it was fine before they took it away from me
after all, they must have 100's of these phones in boxes gathering dust in their warehouse(s) so a little arguing and im sure i will get it fixed / replaced.

So I've had my phone for 3 months now and its awesome. There's just one bloody problem...it creaks at the bottom near the soft keys and USB charger slot.
Has anyone had this problem? I'm not sure how to fix it.
The problem has been there since the beginning but it was confined near the usb charging slot and I only noticed it when I held the phone with one hand. So I put a case on it which minimized it but its progressively getting worse. It now creaks through the case as well. Without the case it is really sqeeky.
I dont feel like returning it for this...not sure if they will even indulge me. But its only been 3 months and its getting worse. It might be quite bad in a year's time. It does not affect any function but annoys the hell out of me everytime i pick it up.
I thought I would ask here if anyone can give me any advice. What would you do?
No squeek on mine and I've had it since launch. Sorry, I have no advice. But that would bother me too.
I remember this happening on an old PSP of mine back in the day. after a year of the annoying creaking i couldn't take it and opened it up and smothered the area of creaking with super glue. doubt you'd do that to your SR though..

3 months I don't think they'd give you a new phone. 30 days you might have a chance. I returned mine within 3 days because right below the power button I could feel where the two halves met. It bugged the hell out of me. The sales guy looked at me like I was nuts, but after walking him around to compare mine to the floor models he agreed to exchange it.
Go back to wherever you got it and see what they are willing to do, or brick it.

don't!!!! If you send a bricked phone to Samsung for warranty from Rogers, especially after 3 month use, all it will do after 4 weeks they will send it back say there is water damage(there is always little water damage inside so you can't prove otherwise) so they don;t have to give you a new one and you will end up with a bricked phone, $400 quote to fix it, $30 charge if you decline fixing it and you have not used it for a month.
Just take it to local cellphone repair shop they will fix it for $20.
Yeah I kinda expect bricking is not the wisest move for Rogers. I didn't return it early on because the problem was virtually unnoticable. I also remember waiting for about a week or two for this phone to be delivered and it was such a long time for me because I couldn't wait , and I didn't want to go through that again.
Might check out a repairshop... or if anyone knows a really tight case, I might try that too. I'll try superglue experimentation on it when its old and worth much much less lol.
