What do you mean by 'update my mobile settings'? What exactly did you do?
I cannot send MMS either and I have tried everything I can think of. APN's have been deleted and re-entered etc. Nothing works

I also have the same issue as you guys. From what I've read, the issue has to do with ICS's MSS not functioning properly on 3G, but working on Wifi. I'm not quite sure if the issue is related to the T-Mobile OTA version I installed and my current carrier in Canada, or if it's an issue plagued by all devices running the T-Mobile OTA.

I noticed that under APN settings there is a new option called 'Carrier' - Does this need to be configured for something special (LTE or eHRPD) for MMS on a european 3G GSM phone?
Still no luck getting MMS to work :-(

Working on some carriers
Hi!
I discovered that this problem is not afecting on all carriers.
On voodafone Slovenia (EU) is not workin, on other providers MMS are working ok.
...so we have to wait for fix.

solved?
Hey, can you give some more detail on how you solved this for the rest of us?
I'm on a 3G i9020t, I called my service provider (wind mobile) and they told me to "google" how to downgrade back to gingerbread. lol what dicks.
I called samsung device support for the nexus s and they were utterly useless...especially live chat so don't waste your time. They told me to try factory resetting my phone and now all my save data in angry birds is gone. Neoooooo. Oh, and it did nothing.
I hope they patch this soon...i like my MMS and I can't play .avi files now. EFF google! YOUR NEW OPERATING SYSTEM SUCKS! - except the keyboard is much better.
[UPDATE] I tried it while connected to WIFI and it works fine. I can send & receive now. Just wish I could do that on 3G

Vote for a fix here: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=23233&colspec=ID
But it would still be great to know what Kalimdor did to make it work...

No on Simobil Slovenia MMS is not working!

It seems that ICS can use 1 APN for both Internet and MMS. So you can try to combine both into 1, if you currently use 2. For APN type write default, supl, mms and combine proxy address etc. into one.
But if your phone company uses two different apn points (mine uses internet and mms) it will probably not work... Anyone able to help, what can we do?

same for me. MMS works only when I connected to WIFI

Same problem here....internet works but no MMS download/upload

I had this problem on 4.0.3 but it was fixed in 4.0.4.
Ive had the same problem pop up on certain custom ROMs and wasted a lot of time screwing around with APNs, kernels, etc unsuccessfully but finally solved it today by installing goSMSpro -stock and handcent sms didn't work.
Try this first, then try 4.0.4 upgrade or better yet a custom ROM like CM9 where everything works.

[Q] Ninja-07061 on Inspire 4G MMS problem.

Hello.
I know similar threads can be found on related subjects, but I've easily gone over 25 threads and have made 0 progress.
I recently flashed {ROM} Ninja-07061 on my Inspire 4G and I'm absolutely in love with it. So far, it's my favorite ROM and I really want to keep using it.
The problem lies in the fact that I can't send or receive any MMS messages without first connecting to the mobile network, something I haven't had to do in all the non-cyanogen mods I've tried.
I've tried changing APN settings, using different messaging apps and pretty much all I know I can do without risking any damage to my phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, if there is anything I should post that could aid in solving the problem, please tell me, I am very very new to this entire android thing and I'm trying to learn as much as possible, but there are things that I still have no clue about.
Thanks in advance.
Possible Solution
I've had a similar problem with earlier versions of the ROM. I don't send enough MMS messages to know if this works, but at one point I had added an MMS-only APN. Something like what is mentioned in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1109983
Let me know if it works.
Thanks... unfortunately it didn't work :/
I've tried many different APN options and I still get the same results. MMS I received are stuck at "downloading" and ones I send are stuck at "sending".
The issue is with the way cm based Roms change the apn when disabling data. They disable the apn completely. While other stock based rom's don't disable the mms part of it. MMS use a little but of data and that's why you see the data arrows work when you send an MMS .
Okay, let me see if I understand.
CM based roms don't let me download or send MMS because they don't automatically connect to the mobile network to do it?
I noticed that I can send and receive while on the mobile network but not while disconnected (or while I'm connected to wifi).
Originally this worried me since I have a free MMS plan, which I believe should work separately from the mobile data connection, but I don't really know how it works (because I'm a total noob >.<).
I've read a little and it seems that MMS will be free, but they still require me to be connected to the mobile network. From what I can discern, this means that most stock roms (sense based) force a connection whilst sending or receiving an MMS and CM roms don't?
If that's so, is there a way to get the messaging app to force the connection, or will I have to connect to the mobile network every time I want to send/receive an MMS? I try not to have the connections enabled due to battery life and the fact that my data plan is capped.
Sorry for the wall of text, just trying to get used to the entire android scene :/

You got it. The only way I was able to do it is to activate data (which I normally keep off due to wifi everywhere and being on a prepaid plan) when I send an MMS. There are apps that control what can connect to data. I think apndroid is one of them.
The reason sense works is that it has its own built in MMS settings seperate from the apn settings.
Okay, guess I'll have to try some stuff out, at least I can rest easy knowing what's up now.
Thanks a billion.
No problem.

[Q] MMS not sending and recieving gives a link?

So of course I have the Samsung infuse 4g, It always worked fine, but these past few days, whenever i receive a mms, it comes as a link, and I cannot send a single mms out... I have the MIUI rom installed (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1355691) and i just have a few tweaks on it, the adrenaline, cm7 froyo one. they never bothered me, so i know thats not the cause. is it just the server being down or something? or is anyone else having this problem? and know a fix? xD
Go to settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names. I'm not sure if it's the same in MIUI, but it should be similar. You most likely only have 1 APN, which is for internet. You will need to add a 2nd APN or do the 1 APN trick to get MMS, but your internet Speeds WILL be lowered.
How do you do that trick? o.o

Can you try refreshing your SMSC code:
Dial *#*#4636#*#* | Go to Phone Information | go down to smsc and hit refresh. The hex code might be missing. Do not hit update, just refresh!
Just did that and got some numbers...tried to send mms but noting...i went in again but the number was gone and i hit refresh and got the same number..thanks anyway

Some GSM port of the leaked 4.0.4 for the NS 4G seem to have fixed the issue.
You will have to wait for 4.0.5 if you want to stay on stock or seek for proper settings for your carrier wich may or may not exists.

apns.config.xml
I have this same problem. Any 4.0+ ROM. Stock, custom, MIUI or otherwise. mms doesn't work. I'm with Crazy John's network in Australia. A relatively obscure network. I've done some research and think I may be on to something. Is it possible that if your apns aren't in the apns.config.xml or not correctly configured then your mms won't work. If so, how do we get this to the devs so they can update their config? I would have asked the dev of my favourite ROM, but xda won't let me post in the dev section. I just find it suspicious that users from the same networks are repeatedly reporting this issue with all ICS roms. Some feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.
4.0.5
android in march release 4.0.5 version for the european devices, stay tuned!

[Q] MMS APN for T-Mobile USA after Black Update

After the black update, I lost the ability to send and receive MMS on my Unlocked Lumia 1020 on T-Mobile USA network. I've entered the fast.t-mobile.com APN settings on both Internet and MMS, I have 4G LTE internet working, but MMS still does not work.
Before there was a Nokia app that auto configured this for me. I can't seem to find this after the Black update, or it is baked into the system now, but for the life of me, I cannot get the MMS working with the APN settings I have. Tried both epc and fast.

I'll be going into my local T-Mobile store later today, hopefully I can get an answer from them.
I got mine working.
OK so with the access point app installed what I did was install a manual APN outside that settings app. I went to settings > cellular and pressed the add MMS APN.
Once I set it up I was able to send but not receive. Just use the APN settings available pretty much anywhere for T-Mobile. After that remove the settings all together and reboot.
I guess the APN app setting kicks in again and viola. Worked for me anyways. Hope it works for everyone else.

MMS breaks data

When I send an MMS message my signal indicator shows data connected and with good signal but Chrome says my device is offline. Has anyone else encountered this issue and know how to fix it?
Edit #1: Why is MMS in it's own seperate APN in the settings I added the MMS into the APN for data and it may be fixed. Why would the default be wrong?
Edit #2: Added screenshots of APN & I T-Mobile is my carrier.
Edit #3: Forgot to mention I'm in the U.S. with a MHA-L29C636, still not fixed

Nobody has anything to say?
Not sure if this is relevant to your issue. My experience here on Vodafone in Australia is that when I receive an MMS, I have to turn off my WiFi and turn on mobile data, and then the MMS content will load. I assume it would be the same if I tried to send an MMS.

I have the same exact issue as these people who also have T-Mobile. Not quite the same as yours mine doesn't work even when connected to WiFi.
Hi to all. I am on Tmobile USA. On L29C636 rebranded from Chinese. Had the same exact issue with Mms after resting the device. So it happens after a reset. I solved the issue by deleting the APN and Mms settings and entered a complete new one based on Tmobile settings. Honestly it's the same but for some reason that's how it worked for me. By the way I had issues with native SMS mms app on the phone from day one. So I am using Textra and that was another work around for the Mms. Good luck
