I just got my Samsung Galaxy S 4G today, and I hate the GUI. I like HTC sense 3.0/3.5 better because I am more used to it.
Has anyone successfully ported HTC sense to this phone? Is there a downloadable ROM I can use?

I've never seen any ROMs with sense ports. Your best bet short of learning to dev and doing it yourself would be try some launcher replacement apps such as ADW or Go launcher and find a decent sense-like theme.
Would that change the app icons? Samsung complete messed up the app icons and I can't find the hotspot app at all :\

Most themes will change the icons, yeah. You'll have to spend a little time experimenting to find what is best for you.
Also, there is no hotspot app. If your plan allows hotspot use you can activate it by going to Settings>Wireless And Network>Tethering and Hotspot

You can download an alternative launcher like adw or launcher pro. I believe there's themes for those in the market.

You'll need root in order to fully theme Sense but if her phone is running Gingerbread you can use skins. Check the general theme section and do some googling there's a lot of nice Sense skins.

Does anyone know what battery widget those skins are using? The percentage on the top left of the screen
Check the Market, can't remember exact names. But I know there's a few.

However, I've no idea how to actually select them as my skin since there is no "skin" setting on the mytouch 4g slide.

My device is rooted, s-off, etc., and the skins do install, just no way to actually load them.
Well for one that's for sense 2.0 you're on 3.0. Second this verssion of sence was remodified by t-mobile. So there are going to be compatibility issues.

MySense phones use Tmo theme engine in conjunction with sense. This is the same engine cm7 uses for its themes. Older versions of my sense myTouch4G mytouch3g and down the line were able to just install cm6 and cm7 themes.
On mysense 3.0 installing a cm7 theme will force close the Tmo engine.
Tmo also usually puts their themes (apks) on their mobile web2go site, when I was on our doubleshot port earlier today I was unable to find any themes on their site.

Develop a solution to your problem.
Maybe an apk that is your theme, or code it right into your own ROM...or any number of other solutions that are possible and just require some research, trial and error.

Thank you for that answer but im no where near close to being a dev i cant even root my device to get sense 3.5. So yea no luck there.
i was looking at nexus s forum and they have this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12874457 which was ported from the galaxy s so i thought if we can get the devs to port it to the infuse and upgrade it it might work.
I found a new method download fancy widgets and fancy widgets unlocker download h7c clock from fancy widgets download helauncher and agile lock and you have sense 3

dude, dont suggest things for other people to do. development takes time and dedication, which is already being applied to other ROM's such as Infused V2 and CM7 for the Infuse. be happy with whats given to you, or learn to develop sense yourself.

Those who help themselves and show actual initiative will get helped.
1) Do some searching and you'll find some great tutorials.
2) Don't request things from the developers in the Development forum. Don't post a thread here unless you're doing development (as in, you've got something to show, even if it's in alpha state) or debugging with a specific troubleshooting plan.
3) Remember that nearly all of the developers here are doing this in their spare time. This is a hobby for them. Donations of beer money might improve their motivation to put a little extra time into something, but asking for something which few people are likely to have an interest in isn't going to get you very far. Asking for Sense is one of these things. It was great for Windows Mobile but most developers thing it's a step backwards for Android. It's a slow resource hog, and just like Samsung's Touchwiz roms, nearly every implementation of it seems to be associated with a massively broken Bluetooth stack.

There are ways to get the HTC sense look on your phone. Unfortunately, I'm not sure a dev would take the time to cook a rom with sense.
Fancy Widget Pro, LP sense UI and agile lock.
I use helauncher 2 and agile lock and fancy widgets

Im referring to a Sense ROM but Im guessing its not possible, though Ive seen some ppl use LauncherPro+ and they get look a like sense widgets and the dock bar (Rosie) at the bottom just like the actual sense looks. Can someone confirm this being possible?? Thnx

yea, its called launcher pro sense, its in the market. ive used it, even has a few more functions than the stock sense ive used...

Does it lag? Freeze? Or anything like that or is it smooth enough to use daily? Right now I have an Evo and will be switching to an Infuse later next week (probably) thats why Im so concerned but thanx to all for ur quick replies

i came from inspire 4g with leedroid.
i used to think htc is fast untill i tried infuse.
there are no lags,FC with launcher pro plus.
though i am not using sense theme. i use just launcher.
it is awesome.
you can scroll taskbar also with it.
it is as fast as sense on inspire 4g

Hey I played with a friends Infuse and installed launcher pro + and the sense skin and it looks great, but can someone tell me how to get the dock (Rosie) at the bottom to look like the sense one instead of the 5 icons?

its def in the settings, jus play around with it, should take like 30 secs... as far as lag, in my experience, none watsoever. imo lp sense is smoother than sense on that evo, but those are from my experiences. probably cuz our phones are faster than the evo...

well do you just want the launcher and widgets or the whole set of menus dialer and more?
you can use 3rd party apps like go contacts and launcher pro and go weather or beautiful widgets or fancy widget and replace the lock screen with a market ap but to port the ui takes work both ui's have some kernel integration and the phones use completely different hardware so it takes a lot of work from experienced developers and none here have any interest in that. best i can tell you is to buy a sensation or it's canadia equivelant if you are not satisfied with market app.
though i do like mikeys suggestion.
I prefer Mikey's suggestion, agree with Dani's and suggest you look at how the proposed Sense port went for the original sgs and then come back......
I used Sense with Cookie's improvments. The GO Launcher and ALL of its addons are actually far superior - then add 2 quicklauncher - and this phone DESTROYS sense. Just a bit more work to get all assembled - but its all there and WAY MORE.

Getting TRUE sense UI on samsung based rom is (impossible??). Porting them is a lot harder then anyone might think.
sense is very heavy. i remember even 2 years ago on windows mobile phones it consisted of thousands of files. and it seems to only have gotten more bloated. its definitely not impossible, but its so intertwined with the framework, it would take alot of work. htc is not going to make it easy.

yeah I didn't know.. I know they port all the time from htc to htc so didnt know how it was from htc to another model or another model to htc.. the sense 3.5 for my inspire was great but the phone button broke, so i got the samsung infuse until the next htc came out.. I do however like some of the feedback i got and with a few free apps from the market ive got it dialed in with the htc looks without the battery cpu and mem hog.. may just get the galaxy 2 and mod it the same way and see if i can hold off on the htc.. but i hear the htc holiday aka raider is going to be amazing
