I know you only just upgraded, but try downgrading back to your last backup state (you may have to flash all stock first before restoring). try another program like nitrality, aka insanity toolbox (available from the first page of the cranium 3.1 thread). use that to backup your efs, and if it still goes missing after upgrading to 2.3.6 again, use that to restore it. btw, how did you upgrade? odin or kies?
my backup file is efs.rfs, using command “dd:if=/dev/block/stl3 of=/sdcard/efs.rfs” ,
I tar this file to efs.tar.
I used to try to flash efs.tar by odin 1.8.3,but a progress bar was not shown,it stopped when“analysing files” 。
and then I used “efs pro” to restore efs, still not work。
that's it
I upgraded to 2.3.6kpq from 2.3.4kph by odin, after there were something wrong, I downgraded to 2.3.4 by odin, nothing good.
I've never used kies. that sucks.

so if you had an issue with odin and downgraded already how did you do it? just flash that fw pda, or start over from kpe? you should start over from kpe (if G) or whatever your were on on froyo, and when you get back to your old fw, restore your backup and your efs should be there again...
3qs,gus,problems done!!!!!!!
I tar this "efs.rfs" file in ubuntu 10.10 operating system(USING VMWARE),and flash it in odin,
reboot , all things down .my IMEI is back!!!!!!!!3QS ANYWAY!

same issue here, i did some mistakes like you did too... tried reflashing stock roms from sammobile from stock HC to ICS.. but no luck.. got my tab plus GT P6200 is now in bootloop.. saw someone fixed his bootloop by using odin thru using .pit file, csc, bootloader, pda and repartition checked... i wanted to try it but i cant find my tab's bootloader and csc files... if anyone knows where can i get those files, i badly needed your help too... thanks in advance...
Just make sure it's not just a corrupted data partition first before doing something as drastic as repartition.

You'll know that it's more than a corrupted partition when running disk scan/fix (using e2fsck from an adb shell through recovery) and then afterwards flashing the rom again doesn't work.

Try Heimdall?
What method did you use? You tried flashing CWM 6.01.0 and then flashing CM 10? what version and what build? Maybe you want to flash another build in case it's just a problem in certain build?
I did mine using Heimdall, Give this a go

for windows you can find the step here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29104577&postcount=29
Take a deep breath, read the instruction once again and then try, Good luck!

ADB (Android Debug Bridge) comes with the Android SDK. Basically you boot the device into CWM recovery then connect the device to a computer using a USB cable and run the command 'adb shell' which will then give you a shell prompt where you can send commands directly to be run on the device.
If you're getting reboots from trying to wipe certain partitions repeatedly from CWM then that's a pretty strong indication that you have a corrupted partition.

4. Install the driver using zadig.exe as noted in the readme. BUT for me, P6200 usb driver is stated as Gadget Serial in the list. (not samsung usb composite)

Hello,
I'm not new to the forums and I'm not new to bricking devices but I'm new to bricking GT-N8000 and this time i think i lost my efs and did not backup..
what i did wrong simply is i don't know how but i managed to flash 10.1 the TABLET instead of note and it didn't read any signal so when i figured out later what i did i downloaded a rom and tried to install hoping everything will be okay which it didn't.. downloaded a firmware from samfirmware which was one md5 file and since then i'm stuck with the opening window "Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1", so now i figured what i need is to flash EFS img, right now i have installed cwm and custom rom but when it loads it get stuck on Samsung logo.
i also factory reset after that i tried to format the sdcard which is the internal storage, and i think i might have format something called pre-load folder also the cache partition which i suspected due to my limited newbie thinking thought it might help
I'm not sure what should i do and i been looking everywhere for almost 7 hours now and still got nothing, Please Help.
i tried to flash the original firmware not that it came with because it came from china but the UAE one, and when i do it get stuck on the opening logo unlike the custom firmware that gets stuck on Samsung logo, and when i try to access the recovery mode i get this down there in the logo:
E: Failed to mount /efs (Invalid argument)
E: Failed to mount /efs (Invalid argument)
#Manual Mode#
--Applying Multi-CSC...
Applied CSC-Code : unknown
Successfully applied multi-CSC
E: Failed to mount /efs (Invalid argument)
E:can't mount /efs/log/boot_cause
E:can't open /efs/log/boot_cause
anyone can shed some light on what i might need to do
would somebody please help me
would somebody please help me, i don't know where else to go, i came here because this is like the mother of all developers im lost

yes i can get into download mode and i already used it to flash the original pda so with the cwm
Okay, lets take it a step at a time. Can you boot into recovery? IF so, clear the cache, dalvik, and do a factory reset (you will lose data). Then try rebooting the tab.
Also, what happens when you connect up to Odin? Does it show com connected?
i did all that

i did all that already and i can connect to download mode fine no problem so does my recovery works fine as well,
the problem seems to be that when i installed the tablet rom erased my efs or im not sure what happened exactly but for all i know i need an efs img for n8000 because i didnt back it up and cant find it T_T
Which rom were you on originally, as in region and version? Which telco provider?
Your first post is a bit garbled and hard to read.
Im guessing you bought the tab in china? But you live in UAE?
you're rgith the device originally came from china and it was unlocked so i had to replace it with something else and it wasn't moded used it for over 4 months and then recently i tried to install something else which led to me by mistake install a tablet rom that was installed and there was no signal thats when i noticed, after that i downloaded moded one by revolution and installed it via cwm after that i rebooted and it got stuck at samsung logo then i tried the original one after reboot it got stuck at the first logo that says Samsung Galaxy note 10.1 after that i formated sdcard and preload folder so is cache
Assuming the product is not a fake flashing a stock rom may bring back your EFS folder .
Preference would be for the original rom .
EFS /IMEI is tied to the phone not a folder that can be swapped .

im not sure

Select N8000 roms in the search box and scroll down to the China rom. Download and install via odin. This will take you back to the stock rom. It should replace your efs folder.

im downloading it from samfirmware but do you really think that the original firmware could replace an efs mount error? i thought th efs wasn't replaceable and about the phone unit so is the IMEI,
also if anyone could or have already seen N8000 Pit file ever please advise where to get it because i've searched the internet all over for it with no use
On the OG tab 7 the efs was replaced by flashing to region specific stock. Would imagine it would be same here. You just lose ALL data in the process.
i have a friend who sent me EFS but when i tried to install it from recovery but it aborts, any ideas on how to get it there or if i have to unizp it and install one of the md5 files or one of bin inside like nv_data,
also please if you could help me locate the pit file for n8000 which doesn't exist i'd be grateful

From what I remember its not a flashable file. It needs to be copied and pasted via a file explorer.
is there a way?
is there a way to do that in cwm?
and what about that pit file, have you seen it or came across it before?
what happened when you used ODIN to flash a whole new firmware?

Not that I know of. You need r/w permissions (root access) and from the tab you need to use a file explorer to replace the efs folder with the new one. I doubt your friends efs data would help anyway, the imei is unique to each device.
The pit file contains the partition information for the device. Unless you have messed with it (unlikely as it is hard to mess with) then I wouldn't worry about the pit file.
Did you try flashing the china rom from samfirmware yet?
on the XXDME6 base - you can not install old modems,
because it will cause for unknown modem & imei status.

Also another thing - that there is no baseband version

the fix
open your SGN II - under the battery you'll find IMEI (in my case)
write - on a paper
turn on GPS
on the dialer - *#*#82043036#*#*
next go to GPRS -> WRITE IMEI ->Reboot
Will it allow modem downgrade, ie DME6>DME4>Stock 4.1.1?

Ok, i tried this.
1. Had DME6 on my device.
2. Flashed your DME4 modem which was successfull. The IMEI was still present.
3. Flashed Stock 4.1.1 BTU. IMEI was lost and had emergency calls
4. Flashed DME4 again, and IMEI came back. So i am back on 4.1.1 which i wanted.
The dial string ...8204... doesnt work on my N7100 UK BTU, although i didnt need it because i got imei back.
Successful..........
I had two copies of my efs. I reflashed my efs in 4.1.1 (XXALJ2 modem) and I got the imei back. Everything back to normal. Phew...
the method is when u lost your imei go to efs folder by using root explorer and copy that efs folder to your eternal sd card (i mean backup efs folder to sd card)
then flash a stock rom via odin then your phone still not have service and imei (maybe fake imei is 0499...)
root your stock rom, install root explorer and copy efs backup folder from your sd card then paste with the efs folder in your root directory
=> reboot and your imei is back
i have successful with this method

no your efs folder is still there with your original imei but the modem has hide or can use it ( so backup it in to sd card ,i mean copy it)
flash your stock XXDME6 BASE WITH XXDME4 kernel in there package, dont change any modem
then use root explorer delete your efs folder (it will show delete fail but all sub folder and files in efs have been delete)
=> reboot your phone ,now android will creat neccessary file for efs folder ,copy your backup efs folder from sdcard to root efs folder (replace all)
reboot and u will get your imei

Let me understand, for I have installed the MF6 without backup my EFS (and now I stuck with this rom):
You installed a previous stock rom with odin, installed that attached modem (ME4) and all right... but you then installed ANOTHER stock rom with odin and was all right?
You will need efs backup made prior to installing MF2. Without it you will not be able to revert to stock with working modem.
i have updated my ROM based on DME6, I have a nandroid backup of my prev ROM DME1 based, tried to restore it. Baseband/modem got restored but EMEI invalid, its start with 0049. It displays my network logo but cant register to network.
This means Im stuck with DME4 modem. Hope our Devs here would be able to resolve this issue with the new released firmwares.

I think you got yourself in a tuttifruti mix not knowing what are doing, not having efs backup and flashing a bunch a things trying to fixit.
Now you have to go back to your last working build and stay there until samsung release a fix so we could flash withaout worries.

[solved] mtk 6589, sim not detected, baseband & radio loss, invalid imei. After flas
Hello.
I recently bought a Chinese phone MTK6589 (XYZ X1).
The first thing I did was do a full backup with MTKDroidTools.
When you upgrade to the latest official ROM and on the phone, SIM card detected stopped.
Update with backup from SP Flash Tools, but the SIM was not detected.
So as it was under warranty I returned the phone and switch to another.
I got the following phone MTK6589T (Pomp W99), again made an initial backup.
Install TWRP recovery and restart, same problem. Sim undetected.
When trying to install flash backup with SP Tools, the program did not detect the device.
So I had the phone and not the sim calls undetected Radio Baseband & empty and invalid IMEI.
To fix this we need to have previously made a backup with MtkDroidTools and convert it to SP Flash Tool If you do not have the backup, will have to look to find a full ROM for our device.
When trying to flash with SP, giving Error 3013 and did not recognize the device, the solution for this is only the first flash preloader and then again perform full flashing.
I did so but the phone was the same, so keep a thousand forums looking for the solution without success.
So you lost mobile giving, what I've done is a full format from SP flash tool (Format option), to leave completely empty.
And then flash the backup made with MtkDroidTools but scatter loading in the sec_ro and userdata.nvram.only
When you turn on the phone, this recognized the SIM! But was invalid IMEI.
So I went into engineer mode (keypad, * # * # 3646633 # * # *)
CDS info
Radio Settings
Phone 1: Insert the command at + egmr = 1.7 "IMEI1"
Phone 2: Insert the command at + egmr = 1.10 "imei2"
When you restart the phone and everything worked fine.
A greeting

You have to have a backup of your old recovery.img... Put it in the root of sdcard, open mobileuncle, recovery update, you will see the file there, select and confirm.

Hi i am posting this thread because i couldn't find any good tutorial that helped you for flash the stock Rom of Alcatel one touch flash 6042d
THINGS BEFORE YOU REQUIRED TO FLASH STOCK ROM OF ALCATEL ONE TOUCH FLASH 6042D
1.Download the stock ROM(the link is given below)
2.Download the flash Tool(Given below)
3.Usb driver(Given below)
4.A window PC
5.Patience
6.Last and very important some Mind.
STEP:-1
1.First install the driver to your pc which is necessary.Without installing the necessary driver processing further proceeding is only waste of time.If you do not install driver correctly then you do not install the rom correctly.
2.Second,Check that any another usb driver related to your mobile is not installed on your PC using USB DEVIEW(Download it from link below). If you have any type of driver installed related to Mt65xx the uninstall it or related to any type of android driver uninstall it.I am providing the link of youtube see there how to install the driver. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAxTCvRmlio).
STEP :-2(HOW TO INSTALL DRIVER)
1. After uninstalling all the related driver to your mobile and other mobile, proceed further.
2. Switch off your mobile phone and go to device manager in PC (In window 8.1 right click on my pc or my computer and then select manage, another procedure is from control panel)
3. Connect your mobile to PC in switch off condition and in device manger PORT SECTION your device is detected. You have only 5 second to selecting on your PC(in package driver are given, install acc. to your PC 32/64 bit) so do Hurry. When you are selecting the driver your mobile start charging don't worry select the driver folder. If you have problem in installing driver like digital signature then search google how to disable it and install it.
4. You think that why we are selecting the driver to port section it is because the mobile have only 5 seconds to start charging in off condition. In those 5 seconds if any data is not send to mobile the mobile start itself.
STEP:-3(LAST STEP to flashing rom)
1. This is easy step.First you have to open the sp flash tool and select flashtool.exe.
2. After opening the sp flash tool select the scatter text file which is in the package of ROM.
3.Select the scatter text file.
4. Then click on download button.
5. Be sure that you check that the mobile phone is in switch off condition and then connect your mobile to your PC.
6. Your mobile is detected and flashing start and takes few minutes. After successful flashing ok sign comes, close it.
7. Remove your device and on it.First booting takes 6-7 minutes. If you find that mobile is stucked at animated alcatel one touch flash boot logo and vibrating again and again .Then go to recovery and clear cache and start it.

Good job done sir..... After long time got success ...
Really interesting Thank you for this Information! :good:
Flashed but it doesn't look like flashed.
I flashed the ROM. But unfortunately, It didn't work. The process was complete 100%. But when I started the phone, After Alcatel Onetouch Smart Move boot animation screen, there was a screen showing -: "Android is Upgrading. Optimizing Apps".... and when it started, every app was already there.
My phone was rooted earlier. But superSU says it isn't rooted. Also when I go to system updates, it says "Device has detected root". Did you root your mobile before dumping this ROM???
After flashing your previous apps installed in your mobile is still there because the flash process does not successfully completed.Try again to reflash ROM.
And this ROM is actually updated so that you don't find system update.
..
Flashed But nothing is changed
I did exactly as you posted and flashing completed successfully, but nothing is changed and all my old apps are there.

Try to flash this ROM through this version of SP flash tool ( http://www.4shared.com/rar/eRE4YvIsba/SP_Flash_Tool_v313360198.html#)
If it does not work then SELECT FORMAT ALL + DOWNLOAD in SP flash tool. Then flash ROM but backup your imei before doing this.
Well, I didn't do reflash. But I did a factory reset after flashing and it's okay now. System update also says that your phone is upto date. What I think the reason for that is during sp tool flashing, the check on "user data" was not there. So user data remained the same from previous.. What do you think?
And the link for ROM you gave in the above post, what's the difference?

:angel::angel:
yaa but I hd selected Download+format all so everythinn hd got tick in 1st attemp anyways now it is resolved
Please, can somebody tell me if this Rom has spanish language? Thank you
Hi Amrik, Today I happened to do factory reset of my phone which was updated using your ROM. unfortunately just by using factory data reset in cwm option I have lost my In. Please help me out. I had taken cwm back up but that back up is not getting flashed I get an error that unable to restore data! and my phone is without imei. any help would be appreciated.
Finally fixed it again. Luckily I had cwm back up of 6months old from which i restored data partition using advanced restore in cwm and my IMEI is back
To all the crowd here it is recommended to have cwm back up before flashing this stock rom as cwm back up after flashign this stock rom fail to flash data partition & mind you MTK droid tools, mobile uncle mtk all fail to restore IMEI.
So please take a back up before of entire rom and dat apartition specially which can save you big time later.
can you give new link, i can't download.. please help
Pls provide a working link, is the stock roms stable? thanks
Help! Link not working.
Sir,
The download link for the ROM seems to be broken. Please help.
