Hi guys.. I recently got an extra battery for my I9003, from a samsung service centre.. But I can't find a good external charger for that..
I got this one from a local market for 100 INR, coz I looked around the city and this was the only one I found.. The problem with this charger is that after charging my OLD battery for nearly 6 hrs on that, it showed 72%.. And I think the battery was a little swollen in the middle coz it felt a little tight in the phone than earlier..
So it would be really helpful if somebody can suggest a good and RELIABLE, EXTERNAL battery charger..
Thanks..

i will suggest to charge with original charger. If u want to use another charger then ensure that voltage & mA range on new charger should be same as that of original charger...

Dude the original charger is for charging the battery inside the phone.. I'm looking for something that can charge the battery outside the phone.. That's the issue...
And the only one's u find are the cheap chargers, u get in those local electrical goods bazaars.. They for sure screw up the battery.

I'm lookin for something that's compact.. So the first one is out.. The second one looks good.
When it comes to ebay, was trying to avoid the shipping charges and all that.. But maybe that's the only option..
I've used an external charger for the i9003 before, the battery drains out pretty fast though. Maybe the one I was using wasn't of very good quality.
when i bought my I9003, there was a rather compact, external charger with it in the original packaging, and yes, the charger is Samsung labeled!
its reliable, fits in your pocket and charges to full in like... 3 hours or so

different locations offer different accessories at the time of purchase. for example, if I bought the phone where I live (on Guam), I would have gotten NOTHING with it but the A/C charger adapter. no headphones, no screen protector, no microSD reader, etc. this is the same service you get in the states, so mobile providers that sell phones can make extra money. I bought mine in Hong Kong, and I got the screen protector, microSD reader, headphones, and a couple other thins for free with the phone, but no external charger. based on your profile, I see you are in mainland china. that may be why they offered you something different from what I got.
In order to help OP get a charger like yours, the model number or part number of the charger would help him narrow down his search and see how much one would cost. thanks for the info!

i realise that different locations offer different accessories! unfortunately i can not help with model number etc on that one since the charger was in the box the phone comes in with a 2nd battery together, nothing there except the SAMSUNG logo, no sticker, not even extra packaging or anything...as i said, it wasnt some sort of extra freebee they give you on top of the phone
EDIT: Found a Model number EBH973UBBC, a barcode scan comes up with RT1B211AS64 E, unfortunately, google doesnt come up with any results on either!

I think I found what you mean, but it's not exact. the battery in the pic is slightly weaker than the i9003 battery, 5.55 Wh for the pictured battery vs 6.11 Wh for the i9003 battery. this will affect the charging rate, ad perhaps the max charge, but other than that it matches. click here to see it.
To charge the phone
I suggest you this.
Just plug in the USB to Phone wire and it will work.

I have noticed at least 4 threads in the last couple of days on here all discussing various charging options for when on the move.
These devices are often caller Emergency Battery Chargers and there are dozens of them for sale ranging from ones on eBay that cost £1.99 and take a single AA battery to solutions that cost 50 times that.
So as battery life is a hot topic and I am sure all the new owners are looking at options, perhaps we could use this thread to discuss the various products out there.
So if you have bought one of these things, why not post your experience here with details on where you got it and how well it works (or doesn't)
i bought one from ebay, sold by gpsforless-uk. its a small white box that comes with loads of attachments for other devices, eg ipods, nokias etc.
i have found it to be great for what it does- it gives my desire 1 whole charge, comes with an extendable cable too so can harge it 'handsfree'!
cost £14.99 and for my uses is perfect, i have a charger in the car and the stock one at home.
the coolest thing about is that i can charge the phone and the charger at the same time.

Picked it up from Cash Converters for £6.. very lucky find.
Gives my Desire a 3/4 charge when its fully full.
http://www.solartechnology.co.uk/shop/freeloader-silver.htm
this?
aye that's the one
Must admit that the ProPorta kit is excellent however I have now settled on this
http://www.just-mobileonline.com/products_chargerseries_9.html
The main reason is that it can charge at 1000mA so the Desire registers it as an AC charger rather than a USB one (look at the battery info when charging).
At 4400mAH it is slightly higher capacity than the ProPorta but it charges quicker (and lets be honest, the Desire is not the quickest phone to charge). It is also a little smaller.
Having said that though, the ProPorta is also available without the ProPorta badge on here
http://www.portablepowersupplies.co.uk/usbliionbatterypack.htm
For half the price. Makes it a bargain but does make you question how PP can charge almost double!
So whilst I love the PP kit, the Mobile Gum charges the phone in less time so for me, that gives it the edge.
If budget is more limited then the non branded equivalent of the ProPorta is a no brainer.
Have you guys seen this yet - it's certainly the future if not abit expensive for now...

Guys, a simple recheargeble penlite contains 2200+ mAh, so use this:
Minty Boost Kit
I bought this and built it.
When I mount 4 rechargeble penlites I got 5000mAh portable power with me, good for 3 full charges or enless movie-watching

I think fuel cells have to be the future. The challenge now is to make them smaller and cheaper to a point where this technology will actually replace the battery inside a phone or other mobile device.
I have heard that Toshiba are doing a lot of work in this area with laptop batteries but early days.
Nice case - i saw these on the instructables as well.
But one question - isn't 5000mAh @ 1.2v? meaning 3.7v is about 2200mah?
Anyone seen this one before:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/POWER-JUNKIE-...ories_MobilePhoneChargers&hash=item51934bec5d
The output voltage seems abit high but seems it can charge an iphone. Cant seem to find anything about the manufacturer or its dimensions.
Would be a winner if it could be trusted!
the only thing id say is that some of the cheaper chargers do not delivery enough voltage, in one bad experience i found that one AA booster actually drained the battery.
I've brought a powermonkey which is the bees knees. I get 1.5 charges out of it and the whole device serves as a charger for all my other devices too, as it delivers a nice 5.2 v and has many attachments. I believe there are a lot of competitors now with comparable functionality.
i have this one: (Sanyo KBC 2LS)
h**p://w++.eneloop.info/products/mobile-boosters/with-li-ion-battery.html
giving me up to 3 loads for the desire. And additional it has two usb-output-ports, so that you can also charge two phones at once (last time i use it with my girlfriend, we both laying in the sun and both enjoying music the whole day). Maximum Output is 500mA, so if u are heavy using your phone it runs out of energy
secondly i tried this:
h**p://w++.energy-trends.eu/et-3000-solarladegeraet-iphone-handy.htm
it has an build in 3000mAh Accupack and is able to load my desire twice. The solar Panels are very good, the 3000mAh-Akku is loaded in one Day (with good sunlight). I tried to hear mp3-music and read a book with aldiko, and after 6 hours the capacyty of my desire doesnt drop. So u can load the et-3000 at daylight and reload your desire overnight. But u cant heavy use your phone, but good for light use the phone when you are out of civilisation somwhere in the middle of nothing ;o)
(sorry it is not allowed to post links for me...)
OK ive taken a punt on the 5000mah one as I figure its perfect for taking on holiday and charging 2 phones. I have a spare battery in my wallet for on the move power.
Will see if it charges at > 500mah and if not maybe I can mock up a cable to plug into both ports?
Will post photos/experiences when it arrives

the desire charges with no "AC"-sign, so probably with 500mA max. The Manual says, that it delivers 500mA on every USB-plug. So maybe it is possible to manipulate it and using both plugs for 1A.
OK arrived today so gotta give the ebay seller credit.
See pic - states on the box it charges at 700mah with a capacity of 5000mah so thats pretty good. Also says it can charge an iphone 4.5 times. Charges off a micro USB so need to carry another cable now which is a shame but at least i dont need another AC adapter.
OK so im sending the power junkie 5000mah back to the guy as it appears to be faulty. Such a shame because its a really nice piece of kit and the double USB sockets were a bonus.
Basically it charges my desire fully once and they fails half way through a second charge dropping from fully bars on the indicator to emtpy. Anyone else get one of these? Im not sure whether to try a replacement or get a refund and try the pebble.
On the chargers I dont think the cable really matters (although you can have chargeonly cables which do not sync) its all about whether the pins are shorted at source on the charger itself. Think about the USB that came with your phone - the cable has all 4 pins open as you can use for sync, its the charger where the difference lies.
Anyone tried the Freeloader Pico (Pico) device? I know people think solar is pretty rubbish to charge a device, but once the Freeloader is charged, say by USB, do you think you'd get a full Desire charge from the specs? Pretty cheap for £14.

* Size (H)10.5, (W)4.5, (D)1.15cm.
* Weight 49g.
* Manufacturer's 1 year guarantee.
these are good. Ive got 2 and I usually get 2-3 charges out of it whilst still using the phone and they charge at AC rate (only when using the supplied cable, other wise 500ma with a standard usb cable)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Powerbee-Po..._1_1?s=outdoors&ie=UTF8&qid=1283550393&sr=1-1
but they used to be £20 a month ago, now they are more expensive than the veho pebble (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/images/B003F5WEMO/ref=dp_image_z_0?ie=UTF8&n=560798&s=electronics) which has a much nicer cosmetic finish to it so id probably choose the pebble now (they are essentially both the same device with different branding)
Those are all cheap toys.
You need something real to get the job done right and look good while doing it.

Might be worth you checking ebay. I ordered that exact dock with a spare battery, cable, adapter, 2 styluses (lol?!) and some other gubbins for about the same price.
Was £12.99 GBP including postage i think.
Thanks for the heads up!
A quick question:
Is it possible to dock the phone without charging it? Is there a switch or something that you can switch on and off?
Im not sure what you mean... Just use the dock as a stand?
You could always just unplug the dock
Mind if i ask why you would want to? Li-Ion batteries dont suffer from memory effect, so "topping up" the charge wont harm the phone at all.
Anyone seen a cradle with a 3.5mm passthrough on it per chance? Doesn't need a battery slot ...
Thanks a lot. I ordered one today plus the extra battery.

Yes, just use the dock as a stand for the phone but as a charger for the spare battery
I read somewhere that you won't be able to charge your battery to the full if the phone is on...don't know if it's true but it kinda makes sense...that's why I don't want to charge the battery in the phone directly (while it is on)...am I being silly?
Hmm, well, that is true to some extent, but not to an extent that matters
If you are hoping you will increase you battery life by charging the battery in the dock (i.e not via the phone) then placing in the phone, im afraid you will be dissapointed.
Typically if you are charging a battery "in the phone" when the battery reaches approximately 100% capacity the phone will stop providing the batttery with current. i.e will stop charging it. Because the phone is on, some of the charge in the battery will be used up and the overall capacity will drop over the next ~15 mins or so, when it reaches a lower threshold, the battery will start charging again.
This results in constant cycling between lets lets say 97-100% if the phone is plugged in and turned on.
It does that for a good reason thouch, as over charging a Li-Ion can have unpleasate results.
The upshot off all of that is that on average when you take your phone from the dock its capacity will be: 100 - (100-LowerBound/2)%. So in the example above:
100-(100-97/2) = 98.5%
That 1.5% wont make a huge difference.
The issue is further muddied by the fact that the chargers do not measure the batteries capacity directly, they measure the voltage across the cell, this varies roughly proportionally to the capacity.
Still, the capacity is not measured, it is calculated. When using a cheap charger like this, the circuitry that measures the voltage will likely have an error margin equal to or greater to that 1.5% anyway, so you may even end up with less!
At the end of the day, its not worth worrying about
Just charge the phone in the dock and save yourself the trouble of switching the batteries out!
J
Hi guys, I'm looking for a dock that will have the ability to extend the 3.5mm audio jack. I want to plug the phone into the dock at work so it can charge and have the ability to plug my headphones into the dock so I can listen to my music.
As the audio jack is on the bottom a standard dock won't allow you to dock the phone and listen to music. If any of you have seen one of these please let me know.
Well, it might be worth you looking into some bluetooth headphones, that way you can listen to music whilst it is charging, but you can move around aswell

MobileFun has the same vendor as ours, and so just note that it's a 'pre-order' stock as the vendor will not be able to supply goods until early Decemeber (!).

Many companies make these types of chargers. There are even the type you can put the AA batteries into that companies like Duracell and Rayovac make as well that are only like 15 bucks at walmart.
I had a friend use one of these chargers on their ipod touch and it seemed to work great.
http://www.amazon.com/Energizer-XP4...le-apps&ie=UTF8&qid=1320849199&sr=1-1-catcorr
I picked up two of these a while ago, they work fantastically great.
I carry them in a portable hard drive case, it holds both.
You can just plug in anything with a usb cord and charge it - charges this phone, my nook color, my verizon dumb phone, my girls' phone and both of our digital cameras.
Does not charge my friends archos 7o tablet for some reason. Tablet won't read power input from the battery pack.

you mistake bro! it's not used for put the AA batteries into it, it's a rechargeable battery itself. i already have one for a month, see my attachments. works so good, 5600mAh capacity, it definitly put 3 full charge cycle on my phone after itself full charged, let me easily get through 4-5 days with out power. so amazing, insn't it?
External battery pack for all uses-
I have been using the ZaggSparq for a while, and it is great. Charges multiple devices when plugged into power, and the battery pack has indicator lights for those (like me) who fret that power will die before I finish my tasks.

Congrats, you'll like having an external battery you can juice up with on the go.
I know the Energizer ones I linked to earlier have been serving me well since long before I got this device - talk about having a digital camera juiced for a whole weekend camping trip with no power to be found otherwise.
In the case of the doubleshot, something like this is a veritable lifesaver.
Given the reputation Anker has rightfully earned, i'd love to hear how well that works out for you. My energizer battery packs have one big flaw - they need a proprietary AC adapter to charge them (come from a time before standardizing those things was as important as it is today)
I'd love to swap over to something I can centralize my charging with - does the output of your wall adapter match the output of the wall adapter for the doubleshot? ( 5v 1A )
If so that's one AC block for both ...

Just purchased 10000 mAh battery pack! Best investment I can make since I can use it once I buy the GSIII
The anker one
I'll report back soon it supposed to get here the 16th..
Just my spare change.
I have had my Anker battery pack for a while now, and I love it. I can usually charge my phone twice with it. I am no longer worried about running out of battery.

Thanks for pointing this out -
Here is the product at amazon:

Here is a quote from a review on amazon:
I do want to point out one advantage to this product that may not be apparent. When compared to some of their other external batteries, you do not need to use a wall charger (power brick) to charge the battery itslf. This is a HUGE advantage if you want to travel light with as little extra junk as possible. The IMP50D is packaged with a small coiled USB to mini-USB cable that is used to charge the unit. This means you can charge this battery from any usb port (if traveling with your laptop). You can also charge it from the little charging cube that came with your iPhone, like this one Apple USB Power Adapter for iPod/iPhone . This means that the only thing you need to carry is the battery and this little cord. This is a very well thought out design.

I am on a kick to minimize the amount of extra BS I need to carry with me.
My current energizer battery packs are 4000mAh but require a proprietary A/C charging cable - so their portability is somewhat compromised by being able to re-charge them on the road.
I've had them for a long while, longer then i've had this phone, and at the time simply having usb battery available was the concern and the price was right to not quibble over details.
Now, though, buying something new has new requirements, which this item is near to meeting. One of which is standardizing of cables.
I have a retractable mini-usb cable, so i'm ahead of the game on the recharge cable for this battery pack - but it's not quite the micro-usb that the doubleshot uses and that would eliminate having another cable entirely.
( The redeeming factor that makes this an okay consideration, or at least an acceptable exemption for this ONE situation with cables - PS3 controller is mini-usb so when I get that working it'll be the same cable anyway... )
...at the price on the daily steals website, not getting this I think would be a mistake on my part. Being able to recharge it out in the wild (because I don't bring the energizer AC with me unless it's an actual trip, so aren't part of my daily arsenal) is a step forward.
It says compatible with all apple AC power blocks, so that'll work with the slim HTC AC/USB power block we have, it's the smallest one i've found and should work with my car adapter so I can keep it topped off.
Browsing through tha Amazon reviews leads to the notion that the power button is raised a bit and turns itself on if bumped, but I don't carry things like this out in the world without it's own case anyways so that just means it needs a hardshell one. Figure that out once I physically have it.
I don't like that it doesn't stop discharging on device full, but you can't win them all and in my experience I rarely actually fill the device while it's on the battery pack, it more turns into a cord running into my pocket until I get back up to 80% or so.
I used the doubleshot all night at a wedding I was the best man in, pictures and video, and what I did was to feed the power cord through my belt loops and into my back pocket, where I had the energizer battery pack. That kept it close to my body so people didn't get caught up with it, and I was able to work my way through the crowd of dancing people taking pictures and video using the battery pack in my pocket, having run the stock battery into the ground long before.
Reviews also lead to the notion that you can't charge a device with the battery pack while charging the pack itself, so that's a point of contention to be handled on the next upgrade after this one.
After having passed on the Mugen extended battery this week, too, this seems like a workable compromise on the road to consolidation.
9 hours left before it's a much less attractive options...
Thanks for letting us know about the deal!
It came in today, I was only at my house for a few minutes but it's literally just a bit smaller then the doubleshot with a trident case on.
I plugged it in to charge it up, and when I eventually get home later I'll take a handful of pictures so you can see.
I haven't actually used it yet, but if it's anything like I expect it to be I think I'm going to be sad I only bought one.

Looks great! i also found a RAVPower RP-PB03 on amazon seems the same appearance and specifications as the ANKER one except the price, $4 lower than anker, only 29.99+ free shipping.
Okay guys, I ran in to this . It's k51 Qi Charger from Dx.com and it's on sale. It costs only $11.5 (was $20) and for that price I decided to order it. There's also a black version available: http://deals.dx.com/team.php?id=4701
Okay I just received mine. It is very very light and feels kinda cheap (well duh, what can you expect for 8,5 euros? ). It looks pretty good, I'm not sure if I like the leds on it. They aren't too bright or anything but they just don't fit with the white theme. It also makes this little sound when it starts charging. This may be con for someone, but it doesn't bother me.
First thing i noticed that the batterly level didn't rise up even though phone was on the charger for a half and hour. I tried the cable with the original charger and the charging status (in *#*#info#*#* -thingy) kept flashing between USB, AC and Unplugged. So the cable is faulty. I tried the original cable and everything was fine.
The charging area (or the "sweet spot" as Zenety called it) is decent. I don't know if theres a difference between the white and black one, but in mine you don't have to put it precisely in the middle of the charger for it to work. The green charging light doesn't always light up but phone is still charging.
The charging works pretty good when without case and also with Headcase, but when using Ringke Hybrid you need to put the phone precisely on the "sweet spot" for it to work. With leatherpouch it didn't work at all. Surface is very slippery and your phone can move around quite easily. I'm gonna find out if there anything to do with that.
Can anyone recommend app that allows me to see charging current? I could compare it to original LG wallcharger?

Please let us know how this goes, been looking at the wireless charging option!
Just bought one for me and one for my father. If this thing sucks, it's your fault, twice!
Jokes apart, thanks!
Forgive me, but I never quite got the point of using a wireless charger. Besides the novelty of not having to connect a cable, don't the disadvantages outweigh the benefits? I mean, for one, you can't pick up the device while it's charging. And it also charges slower than on an AC wall charger.

I like the idea that the charging will stop when the battery gets full and so it's perfect to use at night. I don't know for sure, but I think that keeping the phone plugged do the AC wall charger isn't good for the battery's lifespan.

Wall charger will also stop charging when full (as the battery is li-po), but maintains a trickle charge overnight, which should have little or no effect on battery lifespan.
i had one like this, the magnet wasnt very strong, i could get it to connect but sometimes it would stop so i couldnt rely on it.
the light changed colour once connected.
it was a hassle trying to get it to charge, i thought i could just slap the phone on it and it would detect but i guess due to the large surface area the phone needs to be in the dead center,
you could also have the phone dead center and it wouldnt detect, i had to hover the phone half a centimeter around for it to detect and you can feel the magnetic pull, took me 1-3 seconds to trigger the charge
it was much simpler just charging via USB.
i would buy one again and open it and put it in a smaller housing like the size of the phone, maybe use a better magnet
a few people i know swear by these chargers but they have the official products,
the nexus4 will tickle charge once it reaches upto 90% to preserve the battery life.
Well I hope that this one won't have problems like above. It may have, maybe it will. I'll just have to wait and try it for myself. I dont think that charging with this one will be any slower since in the specs it says: "1. Input: 5V, 2A 2. Output: 5V, 1A" so if you use usb-charger that has 2A output it shouldn't be that much slower. If you use the original charger then it might take forever to fully charge?
The main reason I decide to buy this is the fact that I charge my phone every day. And sometimes I have to plug it out and back in few times a day because I need run some errands etc. Do you see where I'm going with this? The micro-usb port will take heck of alot "beating" daily and I've read so many stories (in general) about micro-usb being not as durable as it should be. So wireless charger will preserve my micro-usb port from over wearing and my phone will a long, happy, life
I have ordered one. Just for the main purpose of opening it and using the Qi charging pad in another housing. Got some cool idea's to experiment with!
EDIT: Oh yeah, and I bought the black one instead. Not that I need the actual housing, but if it doesn't work out like I want it to, i'd rather go for the same color as my nexus.

Haven't had it on for very long. About 2 hours, felt like normal warmth like charging with micro USB. It's REALLY smooth. The Nexus will really fall of very fast, I have to make sure it's on a flat surface. Also if you move the device a bit it will stop charging, when you move it back it won't start charging again.
You will have to lift the phone up, and put it down again. Kinda annoyed by that, but hey, what can you expect for 8 euro's :good:

Yes I have one, I like it. I took it apart and removed the little speaker that beeps when you put the phone on.. it charges at 650mA.. so better than USB and just a bit slower than high quality cables with a wall charger.. ( 800mA).. so now I use it at work, its super easy to charge the phone with a wireless charger when working in a cubicle... you pick it up and put it down without the hassle of cables connected to your phone..
EDIT: This charger is old and is no longer recommended, I recommend you only buy a big branded charger as cheap chargers can damage your equipment and could kill you, So buy a big brand so if the worst happens, you can get legal and monitory redress, Also watch out for FAKES, buy from an reputable retailer and if it`s really cheap beware.
Below is a list of safety tested chargers, the skulls on the right of certain charger`s means that the charger is dangerous.

I bought one of these chargers and it is charging my T800 10.5" at 1743ma according to my usb power meter, my stock Samsung usb adapter never charged my T800 faster than 1550ma and only cost $7.99 delivered , slow boat 15-30days , but do a internet search for local or cheaper prices, the banggoods link is just an example.

looks good!
so would it be to safe to use on a T705 Tab S 8.4" ?
I have this charger, but i haven't used it on my T700. Seems to charge my other devices faster. I found it through Slickdeals. People commented that the reviews are paid/fake, which appear to be so. The charger claims to be Qualcomm certified, but it is not on the certified list (https://www.qualcomm.com/documents/quick-charge-device-list).
i found this one http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Ugre...Charger-for-iPhone-4S-5-5S-6/32393767553.html they also got pretty nice cable from them http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Ugre...ble-for-Samsung-Galaxy-S3-S4/32391749504.html
Too many fake and possibly deadly chargers from china/hong-kong and they can be virtually impossible to tell from the original, so buy from big reputable retailers in your local country, your life is not worth putting at risk for a few dollars.
Below is a list of checked/reviewed chargers, dont buy chargers that have a skull on the right side of the list.

John.
I don't even use usb adaptors any more at home, I replaced my wall ac sockets with new ones with usb chargers built in, it charges my T800 at 1750ma according to my usb power monitor, but the cable length and quality make a big difference to the charging speed.
Lots of poor quality and even dangerous version out there, check the reviews, buy from reputable dealers, these are going to last you for years so dont go cheap, I got the 2.4 amp UK version.

I just bought one of these 6 port usb charger ( the built in display cycles though the voltage and amps) that the connected devices are consuming, this can help you get maximum charging speed on your usb devices by showing poor quality charging cables or damaged ones that only charge slow.
The led display is in an low brightness amber so you can see it in the dark.
It`s is very small at approx 3" x 2.5" x 1"
I got mine from eBay for £19.99

Hi Buddy !
Finnaly , I want your valuable opinion to buy a new charger and cable for my t800.
The original one does not work anymore, but the USB port of the tablet is good\perfect ! ( tablet is stock, no root, no knox brokken xD )
So many reference.. I'm lost ! Give me one link for buying the best ! Yeeeeeaaa
Thank you very much friends.
Preference for amazon because I am Belgian. Good day or good night =)
Make sure to buy a branded charger but beware of fakes and prices that look too good, look though the reviews on Amazon, Get one at least 2.4amp, Maybe get one of the new quickcharge models though your T800 does not have quickcharge it`s handy to have for the future your phone might already support quickcharge.
Anker do good charger`s and cables you cannot go wrong.

Thanks you John.

+1, for US please. Can someone at least post the volts and amps so I can purchase a suitable replacement? I'm stuck with the flickering screen/reboot/green lines issue but it appears to work if left plugged in. All of the chargers in my collection aren't powerful enough to keep this thing turned on.

Wow, thanks very much for that info. I found my original OEM plug and USB cable. The device is completely unusable at this stage due to the flickering screen of death, even when plugged in.
I may try reseating the battery plug and reverting back to Kit Kat to see if I can salvage it.

I' m afraid that rolling back to kit kat won' t help you.
Also, it might be dangerous (for bricking the tablet) if you have recently upgraded to MM and roll back to Kit Kat with MM bootloader+modem ( +the withered condition of the battery).
Given the fact that your tablet presents also the "sudden-reboot" after the screen flickering then your battery is drained and needs replacement.
The same thing occurred to me, I visited the Samsung Repair Centre [after the advice from (local) forum members] and they replaced the battery charging me about 26.5 euros (unfortunately the tablet warranty doesn't cover the battery -also the new battery has a 6-month warranty ).
You don' t have anything to lose by paying a visit to a Samsung R.C.
