PARENTAL lockout - HTC Inspire 4G

I can not find the app I want. Is there a way to lock out everything except contacts and phone calls? Or a way one of the ROMS can be made to do this. I only use cell phones, no landline. I do not want kids playing/texting when not allowed.

I don't think that's possible. I could be wrong though.

There is. Just get them a dumb phone. But there is nothing that will work 100% as a simple reset will remove anything you do. No apps have been made to make a smartphone not use anything. Well I guess you could get an app locker and then set up a password for each and every single app on the phone and that would make it so a password had to be entered every time the app was used. Other then that yeah get them a normal phone and call it good. To be honest that's what I did. Kids have no need for a smartphone and are not mature enough to only use it when they are supposed to. The temptation is to great to show it off to freinds and what not.

That's what I thought. I was just trying to utilize what I have.

Well you could kill the data by messing up the apns or get an app that will kill the apns at the right times. But nothing that will stop the apps from loading. I know how you feel though. Gave my boys my old tilt2 and fuse and after a few calls from school decided it had to go lol

[Q] New owner with a couple of questions

I've had my phone for almost 2 weeks now.
First Android and touchscreen phone ever owned.
I have a few questions:
1) How do I clear only certain calls from my call history? I only see the option to clear all call history. On my old phone (Nokia N82) I was able to erase only certain calls made (for example, the last number dialed).
2) How do I lock my screen? Right now it autolocks on its own after a certain period of time. I want to lock it own my own like I could do on all my old phones.
3) What is the best FREE forum posting app out there?
Also, I tried to root my phone last weekend, but something went wrong and for a second I thought I had bricked my phone.
Thankfully, everything is okay but I do not plan to try it again for obvious reasons.

Thanks!
Can you also recommend a good FREE forum posting app?
I know there's Tapatalk, but it's not free.
1)when you go in to your call history just long press the number you want to delete and choose delete form call history
2) One suggestion is go to settings>security and change the lock time to immediate
Hope this helps
Rooting can be a scary thing but i just recommend reading up as much as you can, until you feel comfortable again. then try the Ace hack Kit. it what what i used and it was super simple.

[Q] What is the best "find my phone" app?

I did a search in the "infuse" forum and couldn't find a thread.
What is the best app out there to lock, clean and/or find your phone? The best one on the market looks to be "Lookout Mobile Security". Any ideas?
Lookout is what I run, its pretty nice and it works. I have the free version but there is a paid one, I believe it has one or 2 more feature. The free one with give you app scanning, lost or stolen phone location (tested and works) and a quite nice feature of sending a siren noice to your phone if you happen to misplace your phone while on vibrate.

I've got SeekDroid on my phone.
Phonelocator pro. Everything it's done by text command, nothing running in the background. Battery life has no affect unlike others. Also if your rooted copy the apk to your system and u could auto enable GPS.
Samsung Infuse 4G
i love lookout mobile security. you can track your phone on their website. and you can make it "scream" if you cant find it, even if its on silent. it also has an "antivirus" which im not sold on (its linux, its not a window "virus"). it has more advanced features too if you pay for them.
I'm using SeekDroid. I was using Lookout before but felt like it was using up my battery life.

Actually its not really antivirus, just similar to anti-malware, like rouge apps
Phone locator pro is the best out there. It even turns gps on if you have it off

well it's a three way tie between Lookout, Seekdroid and Phone Locator.
I run Lookout as it does a pretty good job of anti-malware, keeps a running backup online so you can restore from a specified date, live tracks your device, "screams" the device to help you find it, and gives you the ability to remotely wipe it from their site.

Seekdroid. Already used it to find my phone twice. Works flawlessly and very accurate.
Seekdroid
Seekdroid has worked for me before
Don't just look in your device threads for what would be a universal android app. You will have better results and more options. I can't give thoughts on any of them though as I don't use them, never lost a $600 dollar anything.

I don't know what's better the name or the app itself. That is a great idea from Lookout.
We do not which one is better for android has huge various devices.
And no app can cover all of them.
We have try this app with Galaxy S3/S4/Nexus 5, maybe you can download and have a try...

Bone Skeeter Beta question

Does the screen brightness short cut not work. Also it hangs sometimes when I use the network. Like market or file upload or Internet. It acts like its loading but a simple back and restart and it works. Thoughts? Where do I post issues with it. Also my defaults refresh sometimes.

Also is there a short cut way to quit a app not just minimize. With out task manager and force close. Like a quit button.

calm down and go to the ROM thread to get your questions answered

sounds like you could also benefit from learning basic ANDROID usage, not necessarily directly related to the skyrocket....
Hard to use the phone to get info. I'm learning. Trying to. Also I don't use drugs. Not nice say that. Thanks for the info though. Not the pipe comment. Lol. I will read up best I can on the phone. Will have a computer Monday then be easy

And when asking for help, making your request easy to understand.
Otherwise it can seem......overwhelming

[Solved] Disable Dialer entirely

is it possible to entirely disable the dialer on my rooted Inspire. I am looking for a way to remove it or disable it so I can let my kids play games on it without fear of them dialing 911/Emergency.
The phone is deactivated, but makes a nice, though small, wifi tablet. My kids enjoy playing games on it, I just always have a fear of them dialing the Emergency number.
If this should be in my ROM section, please let me know, though i think this is more generalized than that.
Thanks
Dialer shows up in Titanium Backup. AFAIK you need the Pro version to freeze apps. I don't have Pro. You could make a nandroid and uninstall the dialer (or just freeze it if you have Pro).
Oh, Q & A is probably the best place for a question. That's how I understand it anyway.
Disclaimer: This is not advice. It is just something that fell from between my ears.
My son is 18 months old and plays mainly angry birds I just put both tablet and phone on airplane mode. Go to wireless networks should be there or pull down the notification bar n hit the airplane.

drag the dialer off your launcher screens too would work for simple route

Thanks again..

[Q] How to bypass My Mobile Watchdog

Ok so i have this really annoying app on my phone called My Mobile Watchdog. It sends all of my texts and phonecalls to my parents (even though im 18 and pay for my own phone). I was wondering if there was a way to get past this app, like use blocked apps and send texts without them getting it?

Freedom comes with restrictions. If you restart your android device in "safe mode" as I am doing know, the restricting applocation will be disable, but so will all other 3rd party apps. However this way, you texts will remain private. Amd all restricitons bypassed.
