Answering a call - Galaxy 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
When I receive a call, it takes ages until I see it on the screen, so I can actually reply it. Is there anything that I can do to improve it? This is the thing that annoys me the most.
thanks

People only conplain of that lag when they are custom roms first time on stock rom(correct me if im wrong dont have a fantastic memory ) maybe try a reflash? Or OC or wiping data and/or wiping cache and dalvik cache
EDIT: i dont believe wiping cache and dalvik cache will help but try it out first and if it works you'll save yourself the trouble of restoring data after a reflash or factory reset

what about any mods of your own like scripts kernel flashing etc
If so reflash stock jpu
I am currently using stock jpu and I think its fast even better than certain custom ROMs

I don't really know. I just have OC kernel, the rest is all stock rom. The problem is that the stock kernel (more stable from my point of view) haven't got the recovery, so I flashed g3mod kernel... actually my phone is fast, stable and i have no FC's at all, the only problem is that, but is a very important problem as is actually a phone! not anything else... would check for any improvement...
thanks a lot anyway

If everything is stock and unrooted like mine, then calls work perfectly. They just lag a little when ending the call.

G2x - 6 days and counting with no lockups/reboots

I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in for those who have had problems with their G2X rebooting or locking up and requiring a reboot. I update daily to the latest Cyanogenmod build and have already been going on strong for 6 days without a single reboot/lockup.
Before this, I was experiencing multiple lockups/reboots throughout the day.
Except for battery life, I'm happy with my G2X now.
Ditto.
CM7 is what brought sanity back to the phone for me.
Only reason I reboot is because I flash the dam thing every night.
Can't wait for the RC or stable release.
I guess I must be a lucky one. I haven't had any reboots or issues like that with my G2x. The only reason I rooted this phone was because I suspected the bloat was causing my Audio to studder. After rooting and installing then Ultimate G2x Rom with faux's stock kernel, I can say this g2x is now one of the best phones I have owned. I can't help but wonder how many issues with rebooting and what not would be solved by removing the Tmobile and LG crapware they put on this phone.

Same setup here and no reboots or freezes or anything like that.
I'm running the stock ROM rooted with the faux kernel and I've NEVER had any rebooting or freezing.

Same with me, stock with faux. I also applied paul's fix.
Are you using the pre-UVed kernel? Did you UV even more? Right now I'm undervolted -25mV in addition to the -50mV in the kernel
The only rom that gave me trouble was the unofficial GB leak. Every few hours the phone would be off in my pocket.
All other roms ran like a champ. Been running CM7 since #0, only straying to try other roms for a day. No complaints.
To OP, CM has always been rough on battery life. Try using another kernel and you should get more life.

yea u would def have to restore your stock nandroid backup, because no one has just the stock kernel from lg u can flash, so yes u would restore the backup, then if u wanted to flash the kernel wipe cache and dalvik then install fauxs kernel and your good.......also and if u dont like it which u probably will, just restore the backup again, and u should really try ebfroyo 1.0.5 it looks just like gingerbread and u have the stock camera app and its so quick, awesome rom
Im def going to give ebfroyo a try! Thanks for the help bro!

well the rom comes with fauxs ext4 kernel on it.... but supposedly people are having problems with ext 4 and recovery so what i did was threw on fauxs ext3 kernel on over it, use the 1.5 one, just wiped cache and dalvik then got the rom how i wanted it then made my backup, this way i know i wont have problems with the ext3 kernel
I've been searching for gapps froyo with no luck...I'm on my phone and dont have a computer available at the moment, can someone help please? Sorry, thanks!

[Q] Problem with smoothness

Hello,
my i9003 have a problem, every firmware who I flashed isn't smooth. It's smooth since 10 minutes after that the phone become to laggy (keyboard and scrolling inusable because of the laggy ...).
The only firmware who don't laggy was the XXKPE and now, after two days of use even him become to laggy !!
I begin to despair, how I can have a smooth phone ? (I don't care about the CF Root or this thing, I want only a smooth phone)
May be it's my flash process ? Someone can suggest me one ?
Thanks for your answers, I hope someone can help me.

i hope u know about custom roms
Thanks for the reply.
Don't love at all the custom skin rom ... But what custom rom is smooth ?
Any other ideas ?
I don't understand what is the matter, why after few hours the phone begin to laggy. I flashed XXKPQ it's the same (has KPE,KPH,KPN,KPM....).
I flash twice XXKPE, flash XXKPQ, factory reset, flasher CF Root and I cleared the Cache and Dalvik Cache. I deoxeded, did backup, Ext4, and restored backup and laggy after few minutes/hours.
I tryed to flash stock ROM without CF Root/ext/Deodex it's the same. I try to download no APK it's the same...
Hope someone can help me.
Deodexing usually causes some home screen scroll lag for me. Don't deodex. Also don't apply any tweaks in your CF-ROOT tweaks app, as some of the tweaks ends up causing the phone to lag after a few minutes of use!
Sent from my GT-I9003 using XDA App
Thanks for the reply.
I tryed without any tweaks or deodex or cf root it's the same. Actually I am with XXKPQ no tweaks and no deodex it's laggy.
I think a file or a thing like that is corrupt.
Any other ideas ?

I think the laggy are independant from the tweaks because of the laggy come without the cf root. So I think there is a thing who create the laggy on all the rom (I hope u understand what I meaning)
But I will try to able some tweaks.
Hmmm... It's weird... Why don't you flash back to your region's stock ROM (Froyo) and see if the problem still persists. If it (or even if you think there are any problems) just send it to the service center and get it repaired/replaced.

I think youre too exposed to iphones. We dont have that smoothness. Even stock fws will have the minimal lags ang hiccups.

I don't think that. Yesteday I flashed to KPQ, since 2-3 hours all was perfect after that the laggy begin. And it'snt "minimal lag" but huge lag, when it's like that the keyboard show the letter 1sec (or more) after I tap on it...
The homescreen it's the same, need to slide 2-3 time for change, or doens't change at all and tap on a apps.
This is not normal at all (even my S5230 was better no need iphone lol).
Sorry but I don't know where find the Froyo for Europe. SamFirmware close :/
I'm downloading I9003XEKE1 does it work in Europe ? All firmware who I downloaded was "XX" I have a doubt

Thanks very much. I watched on Google and I found XXKB3 I downloaded and installed it and it's just perfect. Super smooth, no bug. I don't know if I try to flash Gingerbread again it isnt seems stable like Froyo ...
Do u have any suggestions ?
I understand now. I am using gingerbread now and i can tell that its smooth also. I thibk your problem is the wiping process. After every rom do not forget to factory reset, wipe cache partition then wipe dalvik cache

Of course live walls will use ram and cpu. Making lags
Sent from my GT-I9003 using XDA App
i guess you have an app working wrong and that's why it is laggy. It allways happen after you copy your backup data or apps?
I backuped the same apps who I used in Gingerbread on Froyo, and Froyo work well. I will retry a last time a flash on Gingerbread and if it's laggy I keep Froyo.

How to install a kernel ICS ROM?

Ok i installed aokp ics rom but I noticed the battery goes by real fast. So i thought maybe I should install a new kernel; problem is I do not know how to install a new kernel and I do not know if it is compatible with the aokp ics and wether or not it can mess everything up? so can anybody help me with this? Would Harsh Kernel P999 Build-0604 for ics rom work with the aokp ics rom and how would i be able to install it? Please help!!
Hi, I've bee using the harsh kernels with aokp since they have been available and think it is a great combination.
To install a kernel boot into clockworkmod recovery, clear cache, go into advanced and clear dalvik cache, then I usually fix permissions also in advanced(i dont know if this is necessary but i do it for piece of mind). Then go back and reboot system. That's it

This is usless for our devices it is good for 512mb ram devices but this one already has a dual channel memory. adding this line will freeze your phone.. No i did not try it but if you look at this phones dalvik cache management you will find this will make it not boot..
Tried it some time ago with my rom, yes it does make your phone bootloop... took me a very long time to figure out why Best not to try it.
tried a few hours ago and it happened exactly what Meemo23 said.. my phone froze on every boot attempt. after a advanced system restore through cwm i got only bootloops.. had to flash cm7 again to make my phone work again

CleanROM 5.6

I wanted to post a BIG thank you to the devs at CleanROM 5.6 but since I'm a newb it wouldn't let me post in the CleanROM development section. Just wanted to say THANK YOU! What a HUGE improvement to stock. I installed Tuesday late afternoon and yesterday was my first full day on it. 15 hours of normal use (lots of texting, a few 10-15 minute phone calls, facebook etc) and I was still on 50% battery!
This is a GREAT Rom and I will continue to use this one as my DD-
Thank you!!!
+1
Running CleanROM 5.6 with LeanKernel 1.6 seems to be a great combination.
I agree with you. It was my daily driver for a few weeks and I absolutely enjoyed it. It was a professionally handled rom.
Best ROM out there by far.
I couldn't agree more.

I too am in a similar situation, I love CR and I can't post there to say thanks yet. Thanks Scott! :good: Hopefully you browse the general from time to time.

Love this ROM. When Scott originally said he was going to give up his phone to his wife and stop development I started trying others but I always come back to the best. This ROM rocks with the ktoonz kernel on smartassv2 and row.
Glad to see he is still working on it even though I'm not sure what he can improve on. I have zero issues with this one.

I absolutely love this Rom as well. Unfortunately for me I will be reverting back to rooted stock. That's the only way my GPS with Maps will work. I tried EVERY suggestion recommended. I tried GPSFix. I tried GPS Status. I even followed instructions on flashing A GPS PATCH and it installed correctly. Tried again same thing. Locks but when I start moving it jumps around. I try to navigate somewhere it shows me in another state. All messed up. When I go back to stock with root I have no problems. Oh well.
Edit; Went back to stock everything on my phone and still having GPS issues. I guess I'm gonna have to go get myself a replacement phone
I too have had the best experience with CR. Jumped on board around 2 or so. I've tried others but keep coming back to CR. Best battery, stability, and support. Thanks Scot!
I've been running CR lite for a long time and that's only ROM that is not flickering on email. I am loving this a lot.

5.6 is the newest.
When new update is released. Down load ROM and simply dirty flash over 5.6
For lean kernel. One must download and place in SD card.
Boot into recovery.
Flash or install ( whatever you call it) the kernel.
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik cache
Fix permission.
