This is usless for our devices it is good for 512mb ram devices but this one already has a dual channel memory. adding this line will freeze your phone.. No i did not try it but if you look at this phones dalvik cache management you will find this will make it not boot..

Tried it some time ago with my rom, yes it does make your phone bootloop... took me a very long time to figure out why Best not to try it.

tried a few hours ago and it happened exactly what Meemo23 said.. my phone froze on every boot attempt. after a advanced system restore through cwm i got only bootloops.. had to flash cm7 again to make my phone work again

This tip is useful for Odexed ROM like stock ROM.
If you use Deodexed ROM, this tip
occur bootloop

What??:
This is not useful in odexed ROMs & devices with 1GB or more RAM. However, this will give a performance boost in deodexed ROMs as much as odexing system & data apps.

He said for 1gb but you must have a 512mb ram phone to use it and it must be used with an odexed rom..

Hmm.. In that thread, this tip is useless for odex rom.. but I tried this tip in odex rom, working well. But in deodex rom, this occur bootloop.

[Q] Problem with smoothness

Hello,
my i9003 have a problem, every firmware who I flashed isn't smooth. It's smooth since 10 minutes after that the phone become to laggy (keyboard and scrolling inusable because of the laggy ...).
The only firmware who don't laggy was the XXKPE and now, after two days of use even him become to laggy !!
I begin to despair, how I can have a smooth phone ? (I don't care about the CF Root or this thing, I want only a smooth phone)
May be it's my flash process ? Someone can suggest me one ?
Thanks for your answers, I hope someone can help me.

i hope u know about custom roms
Thanks for the reply.
Don't love at all the custom skin rom ... But what custom rom is smooth ?
Any other ideas ?
I don't understand what is the matter, why after few hours the phone begin to laggy. I flashed XXKPQ it's the same (has KPE,KPH,KPN,KPM....).
I flash twice XXKPE, flash XXKPQ, factory reset, flasher CF Root and I cleared the Cache and Dalvik Cache. I deoxeded, did backup, Ext4, and restored backup and laggy after few minutes/hours.
I tryed to flash stock ROM without CF Root/ext/Deodex it's the same. I try to download no APK it's the same...
Hope someone can help me.
Deodexing usually causes some home screen scroll lag for me. Don't deodex. Also don't apply any tweaks in your CF-ROOT tweaks app, as some of the tweaks ends up causing the phone to lag after a few minutes of use!

Thanks for the reply.
I tryed without any tweaks or deodex or cf root it's the same. Actually I am with XXKPQ no tweaks and no deodex it's laggy.
I think a file or a thing like that is corrupt.
Any other ideas ?

I think the laggy are independant from the tweaks because of the laggy come without the cf root. So I think there is a thing who create the laggy on all the rom (I hope u understand what I meaning)
But I will try to able some tweaks.
Hmmm... It's weird... Why don't you flash back to your region's stock ROM (Froyo) and see if the problem still persists. If it (or even if you think there are any problems) just send it to the service center and get it repaired/replaced.

I don't think that. Yesteday I flashed to KPQ, since 2-3 hours all was perfect after that the laggy begin. And it'snt "minimal lag" but huge lag, when it's like that the keyboard show the letter 1sec (or more) after I tap on it...
The homescreen it's the same, need to slide 2-3 time for change, or doens't change at all and tap on a apps.
This is not normal at all (even my S5230 was better no need iphone lol).
Sorry but I don't know where find the Froyo for Europe. SamFirmware close :/
I'm downloading I9003XEKE1 does it work in Europe ? All firmware who I downloaded was "XX" I have a doubt

Thanks very much. I watched on Google and I found XXKB3 I downloaded and installed it and it's just perfect. Super smooth, no bug. I don't know if I try to flash Gingerbread again it isnt seems stable like Froyo ...
Do u have any suggestions ?
I understand now. I am using gingerbread now and i can tell that its smooth also. I thibk your problem is the wiping process. After every rom do not forget to factory reset, wipe cache partition then wipe dalvik cache

i guess you have an app working wrong and that's why it is laggy. It allways happen after you copy your backup data or apps?
I backuped the same apps who I used in Gingerbread on Froyo, and Froyo work well. I will retry a last time a flash on Gingerbread and if it's laggy I keep Froyo.

Answering a call

Hi all
When I receive a call, it takes ages until I see it on the screen, so I can actually reply it. Is there anything that I can do to improve it? This is the thing that annoys me the most.
thanks

People only conplain of that lag when they are custom roms first time on stock rom(correct me if im wrong dont have a fantastic memory ) maybe try a reflash? Or OC or wiping data and/or wiping cache and dalvik cache
EDIT: i dont believe wiping cache and dalvik cache will help but try it out first and if it works you'll save yourself the trouble of restoring data after a reflash or factory reset

what about any mods of your own like scripts kernel flashing etc
If so reflash stock jpu
I am currently using stock jpu and I think its fast even better than certain custom ROMs
I don't really know. I just have OC kernel, the rest is all stock rom. The problem is that the stock kernel (more stable from my point of view) haven't got the recovery, so I flashed g3mod kernel... actually my phone is fast, stable and i have no FC's at all, the only problem is that, but is a very important problem as is actually a phone! not anything else... would check for any improvement...
thanks a lot anyway
If everything is stock and unrooted like mine, then calls work perfectly. They just lag a little when ending the call.

Pimp My Rom

I saw this on Droid Life. It's a flashable zip that works on most if not all devices. Said to work with GB, ICS and JB. It add lots of stuff to any ROM. Well, check the thread.

I haven't tested it yet, but will do as soon as I download, get more battery and get a backup. If someone else tries it, please give feedback. It looks interesting.
*If this doesn't work, then report it to be deleted, or if it doesn't belong here, then report it to be moved.*
Tried for a day on Remics
You have to modify the zip file with update-binary-installer to install.
So far it is slightly smoother, no idea about battery life.

I had no problems installing it as is. I can't say I can tell a big difference. It gives you alot of options, some I wasn't even sure what they were. I also noticed some of the things didn't install. Like a couple of themes that it offers never showed up in theme chooser. I'm running the latest release of AOKP btw.

I used it on aokp but I never can tell the difference. I think my battery life has slightly decreased.
I am testing it now on MIUI.
It took it some minutes, but it does feel smoother and faster.
I think battery is not improved, but i'll let it soak for a few days.
used MIUI as stock based and applied only what I understood what it does.

I flashed it on aokp and some of the tweaks seem to have worked. The tweak used to return from dialer and shorten the black screen when closing apps worked at first. Now it seems like it reverted itself. Or I restored a nandroid prior to when I installed this.

You mentioned that you only applied the tweaks that you understood. Would you mind sharing the tweaks you applied (or if easier, the ones you left out) so others can see if they get the same results? So far my results have been mixed.
Thanks.
Yep. I applied everything except for kernel tweaks and memory tweaks. I set multitasking as mid and sdcard cache as 128 mb. Used AOSP based for AOKP and stock based for MIUI.
Wiped cache, dalvik and batt stats.
After doing so, I left the device uncharged with wifi on through the night, to make it get used to it.
Let it work through the day.
After next charge you will feel the difference.

Need advice: Google apps for MIUI 2.4.20 (Gingerbread)

Hi all,
I'm trying to give my phone a refresh after those 2 or 3 years it has served me. It started to behave a little laggy lately and also the battery begun to dye away rather quickly, so I bought a new battery today and decided to do a clean re-install of everything.
The Gingerbread MIUI (1.12.23) was by far the best rom for this phone and it was running very smoothly. Definitely better then any later MIUI I ever tried. So I found this MIUI 2.4.20 zip file, which I thought is what I'd like to flash and use now.
If someone of you kindly could direct me towards an fitting flashable zip with the additional Google apps, that would be awesome. I definitely make some good use of those Google apps.
Thanks.

Oh yeah, and do you think, that a lowering responsiveness of the phone could be a result of the battery not supplying enough power anymore? Like a constant undervolt?

Hey man thanks for the idea! I have installed MIUI 2.4.20 today and I will definitely keep it. It has all that I need, runs smooth with about 400 MB free RAM and the photo quality is great.
To answer your GApps question: go here, download and flash gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip or gapps-gb-20110828-newtalk-signed.zip, whichever you prefer - both are fine.
Also if you like sweep2wake this kernel will provide it. I am not advertise my work but I flashed it and it is fine.
Another advice: the MIUI installation script will format your system partition as ext3 so if you have 4EXT recovery, reboot to it and convert (NOT format) your system partition to ext4
