CleanROM 5.6 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I wanted to post a BIG thank you to the devs at CleanROM 5.6 but since I'm a newb it wouldn't let me post in the CleanROM development section. Just wanted to say THANK YOU! What a HUGE improvement to stock. I installed Tuesday late afternoon and yesterday was my first full day on it. 15 hours of normal use (lots of texting, a few 10-15 minute phone calls, facebook etc) and I was still on 50% battery!
This is a GREAT Rom and I will continue to use this one as my DD-
Thank you!!!

+1
Running CleanROM 5.6 with LeanKernel 1.6 seems to be a great combination.

I agree with you. It was my daily driver for a few weeks and I absolutely enjoyed it. It was a professionally handled rom.

Best ROM out there by far.
I couldn't agree more.

Thanks for the clarification Hulk - Thanks Scott!!!!! Nicely done man... very nicely done!

I too am in a similar situation, I love CR and I can't post there to say thanks yet. Thanks Scott! :good: Hopefully you browse the general from time to time.

I'm also running the combo of cleanrom and lk. Loving it!
What governors are you using? Any custom settings?

Love this ROM. When Scott originally said he was going to give up his phone to his wife and stop development I started trying others but I always come back to the best. This ROM rocks with the ktoonz kernel on smartassv2 and row.
Glad to see he is still working on it even though I'm not sure what he can improve on. I have zero issues with this one.

Second rom I've tried on this phone and I can't make myself leave it. I go 16 hours listening too Pandora with Bluetooth headphones 6 hours or more a day calls text pretty decent use. Blows my mind, try that on my old x2 and ill be charging by 2 o'clock.

I absolutely love this Rom as well. Unfortunately for me I will be reverting back to rooted stock. That's the only way my GPS with Maps will work. I tried EVERY suggestion recommended. I tried GPSFix. I tried GPS Status. I even followed instructions on flashing A GPS PATCH and it installed correctly. Tried again same thing. Locks but when I start moving it jumps around. I try to navigate somewhere it shows me in another state. All messed up. When I go back to stock with root I have no problems. Oh well.
Edit; Went back to stock everything on my phone and still having GPS issues. I guess I'm gonna have to go get myself a replacement phone

I too have had the best experience with CR. Jumped on board around 2 or so. I've tried others but keep coming back to CR. Best battery, stability, and support. Thanks Scot!

I've been running CR lite for a long time and that's only ROM that is not flickering on email. I am loving this a lot.

I was using CleanROM for a while and defenetly have to say thanks to the creators of the rom. I really like it. I recently switched to another rom, but it wasn't because there was something rom with CleanROM, I just needed to try others, call me a flashaholic Lol.

I have a Verizon GS3 and I flashed CleanROM 5.5.1 a few weeks ago.
Is 5.6 the newest version? Can someone tell me how to upgrade to this new version, as well as flashing a custom kernel like leankernel? I am currently running stock kernel.
Thanks.

5.6 is the newest.
When new update is released. Down load ROM and simply dirty flash over 5.6
For lean kernel. One must download and place in SD card.
Boot into recovery.
Flash or install ( whatever you call it) the kernel.
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik cache
Fix permission.
Hit that thanks if I made sense

Love this ROM! Running the 5.6 verison, with Lean Kernel. Flashed note 2 gallery/camera and AOSP messaging, couldn't ask for a better setup

4x5 launcher? ?
Does anybody know if a 4x5 launcher is available for this newest version? I've found some old ones and flashed them to no avail.....

Im having issues that the lockscreen is freezing up so i have to pull out the battery to make it work again
You can't make such a bold statement, and not include info like what ROM you're running and other relevant info. There's also no need to start a new thread...there's already a thread on the Gingerbread kernel in the development section.
So, because you're having problems, you want to warn everyone on problems that no one else is having??..
Faux's kernels are working just fine for me.
Faux's Kernels are fine. Update and don't listen to this Guy.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App and a perfectly working Faux Kernel.
WOW. Really, Really ???
Running without a kernel...That's amazing...
Faux's kernels are rock solid...Running 2.5.1 since release and NO issues...
then why has my mytouch freezing alot when i get it out of sleep
Plus i am on RoyalGinger V1.6
OP is an idiot. Faux kernel works fantastic. If you have problem with the rom, ask in the rom thread. Don't try and talk about something you don't understand.

Had problems with it the other day. Running stock rom. Kept losing signal and data. Wifi stopped after about 10 minutes and had to restart the phone just to get it working again. Went back to what I was using before and problem went away.
Not sure what the real deal was as I have NEVER had a problem with his kernal.

The kernel being discussed here is faux's Gingerbread version.
Wouldn't it be great if there was a Mytouch 4G forum that was specifically for roms, kernals, and any other type of hacking? Oh wait there is one and this thread is in the wrong forum.

you're a retard.. the reason why your phone is freezing on lockscreen, is cause you either have setcpu installed & have your screen off settings too low! don't have Max set below 368, which 245 freezes your phone! set min& Max to 368 and you will not get any freeze ups and save a lot of battery also! try it!
just don't make a thread about smashing someone's kernal who works so hard to make it for us! faux has great kernals, & you should give him the credit.
Lol sorry. Was on latest cm when tried it. Long day forgot what all I went through with this. Went back to stock rom after it was screwing up. Prolly try again with cm and this kernal. Think maybe it was a bad download causing the problem for me. Although would think I would get some kind of error when installing it.

First check whatever Rom is fully downloaded. Then check to make sure you fully downloaded the kernel. Make sure you have the proper kernel for your rom. Make sure you wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache. Then install the proper kernel when it boots up let everything load for 4-5 minutes then reboot. If your using a low voltage version try stock version. Also use the cfs kernel and not bfs since your phone is lagging.

G2x - 6 days and counting with no lockups/reboots

I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in for those who have had problems with their G2X rebooting or locking up and requiring a reboot. I update daily to the latest Cyanogenmod build and have already been going on strong for 6 days without a single reboot/lockup.
Before this, I was experiencing multiple lockups/reboots throughout the day.
Except for battery life, I'm happy with my G2X now.
Ditto.
CM7 is what brought sanity back to the phone for me.
Only reason I reboot is because I flash the dam thing every night.
Can't wait for the RC or stable release.
I guess I must be a lucky one. I haven't had any reboots or issues like that with my G2x. The only reason I rooted this phone was because I suspected the bloat was causing my Audio to studder. After rooting and installing then Ultimate G2x Rom with faux's stock kernel, I can say this g2x is now one of the best phones I have owned. I can't help but wonder how many issues with rebooting and what not would be solved by removing the Tmobile and LG crapware they put on this phone.

Same with me, stock with faux. I also applied paul's fix.
Are you using the pre-UVed kernel? Did you UV even more? Right now I'm undervolted -25mV in addition to the -50mV in the kernel
The only rom that gave me trouble was the unofficial GB leak. Every few hours the phone would be off in my pocket.
All other roms ran like a champ. Been running CM7 since #0, only straying to try other roms for a day. No complaints.
To OP, CM has always been rough on battery life. Try using another kernel and you should get more life.

yea u would def have to restore your stock nandroid backup, because no one has just the stock kernel from lg u can flash, so yes u would restore the backup, then if u wanted to flash the kernel wipe cache and dalvik then install fauxs kernel and your good.......also and if u dont like it which u probably will, just restore the backup again, and u should really try ebfroyo 1.0.5 it looks just like gingerbread and u have the stock camera app and its so quick, awesome rom

I've been running my own personal variant of simple KJ6. Sometime ago I took Krylon's release as the base and made few changes to it (a neater 1% battery, some change to de-CIQ, etc.) It's heavily debloated though and has a couple of my own conservative presets in init.d. Otherwise it's stock. If anybody wants it I can post it.
I would say post it like FB did his.

[Q] Mods, Stable Rom/Kernel combos, Scripts ect?

Okay so I am new to the Nexus S 4g (crespo 4g) and i'm just wondering what some good ROM/kernel combos are, I'm currently running paranoidandroid and it's not bad but i want more speed, also the RAM on this phone isn't that great so are there any ram scripts available? and since there's no ext sd is there anyway to partition so i can move apps/data/cache to sd? I work so much I don't have time to thoroughly search for this info like I used to be able to... Thanks in advance
As far as the kernel goes, i have always stuck with matr1x. there are quite a few rom options out there but my top pics are AOKP and Euroskank kangs. Also Rascream is definitely worth checking out. I would recommend running the phone without scripts at first so you have a baseline then if you add scripts later, youll know if they are working or not later on. Not sure about moving apps/data/cache. good luck

Help!
I have been experimenting with a lot of ROMS on my Rooted Nexus S (I9023) and so far haven't been able to find a single stable ICS ROM!
Frustrated with my experience, I went back to stock GB ROM which has now got automatically upgraded to ICS (4.0.4).
However, since the time the ICS upgrade has been done, I am unable to flash clockwokmod recovery on my phone! Even superuser permissions don't seem to work!
Can someone please help me with this problem & also suggest a stable ICS ROM with everything working?
Thanks!

[Q] [KERNEL] Newbie here, some direction needed

Hi all,
First let me start by telling you what device I am using a Samsung Galaxy S III I535 running Liquid Smooth 2.37 rom.
I have been flashing phones for years and have bricked, unbricked & in most cases had success with dirty flashing and doing clean flashes. I have gotten to the point in my adventures with flashing phones to experiment with kernels, since that's all anyone talks about that gets some legit performance and battery life stats. So my questions are as follows ( and i apologize now if this has been asked a bazillion times before. If that is in fact the case, some direction to the link would be much appreciated, thanks! )
1) what are the steps one would have to take to properly flash a Kernel
2) are there any pitfalls and caveats i should be concerned about ( bricking is the obvious one here )
Thank you again in advance for taking the time to help me out. Just trying to get fully educated before i decide to start messing around further with my phones!

1) Make sure the kernel is compatible with your rom, Do some reading about the kernel -pros & cons.
2) Flash away. In theory, you don't even need to wipe cache or dalvik cache, but just wipe them to make you feel like...it's clean!!
3) The worst thing is you get a bootloop which is an easy fix.
One other thing to note, is AOSP kernels are not compatible with TouchWiz roms, and TW kernels are not compatible with AOSP roms.
Make sure you get the right one, if the developer offers both options.

Just adding onto this, one good way of ensuring #1 is to flash a compatible AOSP 4.3 or 4.4 kernel that is dated at or about the same time as your rom. If the more recent kernel doesn't work, try the release prior to that.

I noticed as soon as I loaded the Kernel there was an issue. It wouldn't connect to any wifi networks. As a matter of fact, I couldn't even turn on wifi, the switch just stayed grayed out after i initially hit it. So currently I am running KT until I can find a solution to my issue. I would love to run BMS given the great response but I need to be able to use wifi lol
