Do not update faux kernal!! 2.5.1 - myTouch 4G General

Im having issues that the lockscreen is freezing up so i have to pull out the battery to make it work again

You can't make such a bold statement, and not include info like what ROM you're running and other relevant info. There's also no need to start a new thread...there's already a thread on the Gingerbread kernel in the development section.

So, because you're having problems, you want to warn everyone on problems that no one else is having??..
Faux's kernels are working just fine for me.

Faux's Kernels are fine. Update and don't listen to this Guy.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App and a perfectly working Faux Kernel.

WOW. Really, Really ???
Running without a kernel...That's amazing...
Faux's kernels are rock solid...Running 2.5.1 since release and NO issues...

then why has my mytouch freezing alot when i get it out of sleep

Plus i am on RoyalGinger V1.6

OP is an idiot. Faux kernel works fantastic. If you have problem with the rom, ask in the rom thread. Don't try and talk about something you don't understand.

Had problems with it the other day. Running stock rom. Kept losing signal and data. Wifi stopped after about 10 minutes and had to restart the phone just to get it working again. Went back to what I was using before and problem went away.
Not sure what the real deal was as I have NEVER had a problem with his kernal.

The kernel being discussed here is faux's Gingerbread version.

Wouldn't it be great if there was a Mytouch 4G forum that was specifically for roms, kernals, and any other type of hacking? Oh wait there is one and this thread is in the wrong forum.

you're a retard.. the reason why your phone is freezing on lockscreen, is cause you either have setcpu installed & have your screen off settings too low! don't have Max set below 368, which 245 freezes your phone! set min& Max to 368 and you will not get any freeze ups and save a lot of battery also! try it!
just don't make a thread about smashing someone's kernal who works so hard to make it for us! faux has great kernals, & you should give him the credit.

Lol sorry. Was on latest cm when tried it. Long day forgot what all I went through with this. Went back to stock rom after it was screwing up. Prolly try again with cm and this kernal. Think maybe it was a bad download causing the problem for me. Although would think I would get some kind of error when installing it.

First check whatever Rom is fully downloaded. Then check to make sure you fully downloaded the kernel. Make sure you have the proper kernel for your rom. Make sure you wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache. Then install the proper kernel when it boots up let everything load for 4-5 minutes then reboot. If your using a low voltage version try stock version. Also use the cfs kernel and not bfs since your phone is lagging.

G2x - 6 days and counting with no lockups/reboots

I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in for those who have had problems with their G2X rebooting or locking up and requiring a reboot. I update daily to the latest Cyanogenmod build and have already been going on strong for 6 days without a single reboot/lockup.
Before this, I was experiencing multiple lockups/reboots throughout the day.
Except for battery life, I'm happy with my G2X now.
Ditto.
CM7 is what brought sanity back to the phone for me.
Only reason I reboot is because I flash the dam thing every night.
Can't wait for the RC or stable release.
I guess I must be a lucky one. I haven't had any reboots or issues like that with my G2x. The only reason I rooted this phone was because I suspected the bloat was causing my Audio to studder. After rooting and installing then Ultimate G2x Rom with faux's stock kernel, I can say this g2x is now one of the best phones I have owned. I can't help but wonder how many issues with rebooting and what not would be solved by removing the Tmobile and LG crapware they put on this phone.

Same with me, stock with faux. I also applied paul's fix.
Are you using the pre-UVed kernel? Did you UV even more? Right now I'm undervolted -25mV in addition to the -50mV in the kernel
The only rom that gave me trouble was the unofficial GB leak. Every few hours the phone would be off in my pocket.
All other roms ran like a champ. Been running CM7 since #0, only straying to try other roms for a day. No complaints.
To OP, CM has always been rough on battery life. Try using another kernel and you should get more life.

Can I just backup my stock kernel and flash it if I dont like the custom kernel? Or do I have to restore my whole stock rooted backup? (my nandroid backup I think is the correct term) thanks! Sorry for my newbiness hehe

yea u would def have to restore your stock nandroid backup, because no one has just the stock kernel from lg u can flash, so yes u would restore the backup, then if u wanted to flash the kernel wipe cache and dalvik then install fauxs kernel and your good.......also and if u dont like it which u probably will, just restore the backup again, and u should really try ebfroyo 1.0.5 it looks just like gingerbread and u have the stock camera app and its so quick, awesome rom
Im def going to give ebfroyo a try! Thanks for the help bro!

I've been searching for gapps froyo with no luck...I'm on my phone and dont have a computer available at the moment, can someone help please? Sorry, thanks!

[Q] MIUI Problems

I switched to MIUI a few days days ago, and I've been loving it so far. But I have been having a couple of issues.
Every so often my phone restarts for no reason. Sometimes when I'm in the settings application. Other times when I'm playing music. Regardless which music app I'm using, it'll restart my phone after 15-20 minutes.
My other issue is that my phone thinks its a Desire HD. is there a way to change
that? I can't access certain apps in the market because of that.
Thanks in advance.
I would try reflashing the rom. What kernal are you using with the rom and which version of MIUI? There is a discussion somewhere in the MIUI thread about changing the description in the build.prop file to make it show as an Inspire
I'm running miui 1.7.23. Not sure which kernel, probably the stock one. I haven't really read anything about the differences or why one is better than another.

It sounds like a bad rom flash. I would wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache. Then I would reload the rom. The stock kernal that comes with the latest rom needs to be updated with the latest Lordmod kern but it should not cause the problems you are having.

[Q] about Restoring back to Stock and Overclocking issues...

Hey guys!
I had to uninstall my Android Revolution ROM because of reboot issues :x and well i also gave CM7 a try but since its in alpha i had alot of issues with the battery draining way too fast (cleared the stats and everything).
After CM7 failing i tried Android Rev again since there was an update and i had 3.0.4 and never really bothered to check the thread to see if there were updates so i installed 3.6.1 and then put the No Sense mod over it (lets face it. Sensation cant run Sense 3.0 as well as the EVO 3d, insufficient RAM?) and battery was draining way fast and random lock ups -> reboots. Uninstalled that ROM and tried Android Revolution WITH sense 3.6.1 and again... lock ups and reboots.
Yes i installed all the kernels and Radios suggested with each ROM
ANYWAYS the questions i wanted to ask before derailing my own thread:
1) When i loaded up my first backup before any of the ROMS i had installed, did the original kernels and radios flash back and everything went back to how i had it? (read: laggy sense UI and poor efficient use of the phones resources, hurry up stable CM7 D
2) how can i OC stock Sensation to 1.5ghz? Its rooted and it has the original everything (IM ASSUMING) also i have SetCpu which i downloaded.
i have tried some methods via command prompt through the computer but lets face it, im a retard, kept saying something about access being denied so i couldnt install some kernel to flash it. Im used to just going to the CWM and installing from ZIP and presto kernel installed.
PS: if its of any use... Kernel Version is 2.6.35.13 - g3422292 [email protected] #1
PSS: really i heard that 1.5ghz OC and Undervolted was the most efficient for battery life, temperature and performance so this is what im looking for but open to suggestions. yes ive looked everywhere and i couldnt get to install it
Anyone? :x
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
1. When you restore a nandroid everything goes back to default including the kernal. The only thing stays the same is the radio and s off.
2. The reason you can't overclock is because you have the stock kernal, I don't think it is overclockable.
So if you want to OC it try a new kernal.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
Thank you so much lol. But do i have to look for kernels compatible for stock? My battery has lasted a long time since stock.
What about returning to the original radio?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
Most if not all work well with stock. Try fauxs123's or bricked.
But I'm not sure about the radio be really careful with radios too. I heard if you get a bad download it can brick pretty easy. So I haven't messed with those.
I'll look for a guide for you.

Everytime i flash faux kernel, g2x goes black

Hello all you g2x users. Just got a g2x. Ran thru all the different roms without flashing a kernel. DL both ds/cm faux kernels, when i flash it, the screen goes black when rebooting. Reading the op, every room i have tried it with is compatible. Anyone have this happen
Sent from my Sensation using XDA App
U are flashing wrong kernel.
Roms and kernels?
roms were eaglesblood and weapon. the kernels were the faux ds, cm, and gb which im sure was supposed to work. i really want to load a kernel to get my g2x getting higher scores then my sensation. already did stock if i remember right.
We need exact name and version of rom you are currently on, just whitehawks or cm7 wont due.
NVIDIA NEVER AGAIN!
That's what I was trying to say. I have tried several combos. Right notei just tried eaglesblood with faux gb kernel. I will look up the name and post back

Eaglesblood has 2 versions and you must use the correct kernel for the specific version. Example: if you are using weapon rom you cannot use faux cm version kernel. If you are using eaglesblood cm version rom you cannot use faux gb kernel. Read carefully and make sure you are mating them correctly.

EaglesBlood is based on an older version of CM. The current version of Faux's CM kernel (0.44) is based on 173+. You need to use version 0.43 (at the bottom of the OP) for 10-15-11.
For Weapon you have to use Faux's GB (gingerbread) kernel. Link here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102720
Read carefully for stock voltage or OC/UV (OverClock/UnderVolt), both versions 0.1.3.
Groove is correct.

so i loaded up eaglesblood 10-15 and derkernel and it was cool that i could finally overclock my g2x but i took a call and when i pulled the phone away to end the call the screen went black and no matter what i did i couldnt get the screen back on. had to pull the battery. nothing like that had ever happened til i loaded derkernel and turned it up to 1.5 ghz, anyone else have this happen??
The call wonk is a known issue with cm based roms. Listen, you've got to read the threads a little better before someone gets upset at you for asking questions that have already been answered. Usually you can find out about known issues in the OP (Original Post).
Also use the Stock Volt SV roms. There are 4 types of kernels. Regular Overclocked/Undervolted and stock volt... each one has CM and DS battery driver.
I used the SV DS one.
His standard pre overclocked kernel never booted for me. His rom never worked for me either.... got the black death too. So choose wisely.

I was not aware that call wonk was an issue on the g2x.
I understand where you are coming from but you can read the op in the "eaglesblood 10-15" thread and there was nothing about an issues such as call wonk. I thought the only phone with that issue was the sensation. I have had a number of android phones and trust me I have done my fair share of reading. If i remember right the only reason I started this thread in the first place was because on that day I had flashed several different combinations of roms/kernels and what I was reading wasnt translating when I tried to flash them. I am sellling my sensation and using this g2x in the mean time til the galaxy nexus finally gets off the boat.

There's been a bug with 4.0.4 roms that requires you to flash it twice, one after another, nothing in between. Next time you try a rom like that, take note of how long it takes to install. If it only took a few seconds, it wasn't properly flashed. Flash again right away and you should notice it taking longer to install. Then flash your gapps and/or kernel if ya need it and reboot. Should be good.

@Caliyork yeah your right I really ain't notice that but I'll be looking at that, have you been successful putting kernels on because I have the same problem with that ?? are you flashing the proper kernel, sounds like you grabbed a kernel for a different phone, I'm guessing something from the Morfic collection?
Hmm could be, but I was in the g2x forum and I browsed for kernels and I got fauxs 123 kernel, Trinity, and Harshs and none of them seemed to have worked, I used Mr.Apocalypse and none of them went thru. Cud u give me links to see if any were the right ones ? Do you use OC/UV ?

I'm not sure referring to quality control is accurate, but phones do have bad batches or manufacturing tolerances and what not. Can't always get the cream of the crop.
That's practically the one reason why I chose the G2x instead of the HTC MyTouch 4G lol. Bad EMMC happens to die on you and you've got yourself an expensive brick.
Have you tried any other ROM other than ICS roms? Trying to figure out if the problem is restricted to those only. Might help.

Haha yeah I've heard that before but I'm not sure if I have a bad batch because I got Genesis, AOKP, and Hellfire (ICS roms) to work fine but could not get any custom kernels that supported OC/UV to work on them. Uhh I actually been using nothing but ICS roms I never tried and other roms that supported GB just cuz I wanted to be updated. Are you on any other Roms or you using a ICS rom ?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
I've used a lot of different ROMs, and they all work fine. But I'm on the stock LG 2.3.4 that was released lately, and that's been running really super.
Flashing ICS doesn't necessarily mean that you're up to date when a lot of things don't work. I've used AOKP, EB's AOSP, HFS and Owain's. I have multiple problems with data dropping, APN's disappearing when entering Airplane mode or mass storage just completely does not work. Not to mention, NO NETFLIX!
As far as kernel issues, make sure you're installing the appropriate ones for the P999 and make sure they're ICS specific and not for the GB kernels.
Edit: If I remember, EB's AOSP uses a modified Faux Kernel that supports OC right off the bat, so there's no need to flash a different kernel.
That's true never thought of it like that where can I get the rom you are using ???? And yeah I tried to get EB AOSP to work but it wont for me -_____- lol
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
I'm using a stock rom. If you feel adventurous then flash the new V21y baseband (50% likely to brick your phone hard). If not, I would just stick with GB. My all time favorite is WeaponG2x.
