Hi, my wife has recently got this phone and I got it rooted and cwm and all that on there ( I have rooted and installed recovery on a lot of phones but this was by far the most pain) and now that I have that done I need to pick a rom for her....... I'm looking for suggestions as to the most stable rom/roms. She uses her gps for work so that is a must and also looking for something smooth w/o random rebots and stuff thanks ahead of time

I've been running my own personal variant of simple KJ6. Sometime ago I took Krylon's release as the base and made few changes to it (a neater 1% battery, some change to de-CIQ, etc.) It's heavily debloated though and has a couple of my own conservative presets in init.d. Otherwise it's stock. If anybody wants it I can post it.
I would say post it like FB did his.

What rom in yalls opinions is the best?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
I just went back to the ICBINB rom with my own custom UOT theme after trying the new gingerbread leak. GB was ok, but ICBINB has ALL the tweeks, and the UV bali kernal for awesome battery life and performance.
When more GB roms come out with tweeks, I'll flash back, but right now, Froyo is doing great for me with icbinb.
As with anything, it's all about preference...
I personally like ICBINB, as I don't use my phone as a music player much... If music via your phone is more you I'd suggest one the audiophile roms, for the sound tweaks that were incorporated in the rom.
Both off these TeamAcid roms have all the latest tweaks available and they're easy to flash, so you can test drive them all then pick the one that best suits you.
Hope this helps!
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium App
ICBINB is the easiest ROM to flash here and also one of the best, because it already has all the tweaks built in there already.
Then again, if you want to play around with tweaks and stuff more, you can always flash the other ROMs, which are still wonderful.
Really any of them. Theyre all fantastic. Although i would have to say it would be ICBINB, Audiophile, Black Ice, Frost

I would say if you're new to flashing, stay away from Black Ice for a bit, lol. It is still the most difficult ROM to flash out of all anyways. I would say Bionix Frost is really the easiest though. It was the first one I flashed.
I dont know why everyone is getting these problems with Black Ice, i never had one and i loved frost but the white is a battery burner

Yup, I gotta agree with you on that. Black Ice gave me problems the first night, but after careful reading the next day, I flashed it perfectly. Unfortunately, I didn't like the dull look of it, so I went back to Bionix Frost right afterwards, LOL! Bionix Frost would be my second favorite ROM after ICBINB though.
I gotta say ICBINB has done the best for me. It is noob friendly(I'm a noob) and has all the latest tweaks and mods that you need. Also providing insane battery life and smoothness with little to no bugs. ICBINB, thanks to Team Acid, is the best choice at the moment in my opinion! My two cents yo!
My top roms I love;
Black Ice
Trigger 0.4 or 0.5
ICBINB
Audiophile
Of course Whitehawk's deodex kd1

if she is going to be far, then stock rom is best. If she ever has a problem with her phone, she can take it to the cell phone vendor to troubleshoot. if it has a custom ROM, they might not help her.
I'd say stick to stock KD1 rom with root and get titanium backup app, so she can uninstall bloatware and back up her apps.

I agree with you,its best to have stock rom for troubleshooting.
I will install stock rom .
In my experimentation,i found that undervolted bali kernel is giving me nice battery back up.
can i have stock kd1 with this kernel bali 3.3 undervolted.?
When I got this phone a few weeks ago I immediately flashed Black Ice, then went with AudioPhile, for FroYo roms those are the best IMO. Once the 2.3.4 leak came out I flashed that ran it until today with no issues. Flashed the Deodexed kg6 from Whitehawk today and it's been fine as well. Only reason I changed from the leak to this was I felt the urge to flash something new.

yes, if you have a rooted stock rom, you can install CWM recovery, and flash the bali kernel.

Why Bother
Why bother with this total fail of an upgrade when there are so many better custom ROM's to choose from right here on xda?
I'm on Infused v2.2.3 and really like it but considering making the move to ZEUS soon.
I just can't see any reason to make a giant leap backward with the AT&T GB upgrade. It's just too little too late. YMMV though.
Maybe Samsung decided to use Zeus?
(Actually the GB release is running really well for myself. I haven't even rebooted yet since install last week.)

Yeah who likes a 100% working phone anyway, right?
meh.
now I know why there are no sources yet. and yeah the update is important if not just for sorcery code. never mind Samsung and att having respect for the customers....
think of how much better the roms can be if we don't have to mix libs from different leaks to fix video recording or playback and workarounds for the sdcard and wifi. and if they actually have HDMI. then we could swap kernels around without considering switching vold.fstab. yeah I hope the update is fixed soon so the code can be released finally.
someone is gonna have to get the update files and decrypt them to get a stock kernel though. (to extract initramfs and the root process will require a kernel to revert to until custom kernels are made.)
If you consider hdmi 100 percent, then I guess im running a 99 percent working rom......yea.....im good with that

hey I'm using Zeus myself. but I use the kl2 kernel on it and it would be nice if you didn't need to change vold.fstab back to stock to do so. I just want source code for new kenrels that could be maintained as all the old kernels were developed by people who are no longer here.

Dani, you are running zeus with the stock kernel?
I remembered dman said trying to run stock kernel in zeus will boot loop.
There were scripts not supported by stock kernel.
To make it run, just disable lagfix?
Just curious...

the init.d scripts wont run. that's true. but you should be able to change kernels after a reboot. its running for me. I didn't look at the scripts to see what other things I'm missing but the rom runs fine without the tweaks and lagfix.

well I ran it with infuseion a few days, but I get the themes, the rom is deodexed, and when ever I deodex something it seems to run weird either slow or choppy. Zeus doesn't. I dunno what dman uses to deodex but it works better than what I have used.
My friend has this phone. She's always had freezing issues with it, but I got running better with a custom kernel, ext4, and cwm but now at times when she goes yo unlock it it'll freeze up and she has to pull the battery. It's better then freezing up all the time but still not a good thing.
Anyone have tips or fixes?

Beans or Synergy?
Tried both, really comes down to personal preference. Do you want to deal with the workaround to have a custom kernel or do you want to keep the stock? Both are quite good, it's really up to you.

I am still kind of new to this but when I feel confident enough I would like to install custom kernels.
Then you might want to start with synergy. Once rooted it's quite easy to install one with a custom thanks to the great devs. Read up and be aware of the IMEI issue but that's only with CM based ROMs. I'd back it up just in case anyway.

Next is flashing a kernel! I'm doing that now on synergy's 1.3.
Side note though I noticed you have 1.4 apparently the kernel's that people were using for 1.3 aren't working with 1.4 so read up on that before you try! Good luck in the future!

Yes be careful flashing imos kernel on synergy 1.4 because it seems almost all threads I have read report having bootloop issues. It is recommended to flash imos kernel on synergy 1.3 Instead. Imos kernel is built into beans newest version and you can also overclock on beans. I'm personally on synergy v1.4 cause I like the brightness adjustment in the drop down drawer.

What a HUGE improvement to stock. I installed Tuesday late afternoon and yesterday was my first full day on it. 15 hours of normal use (lots of texting, a few 10-15 minute phone calls, facebook etc) and I was still on 50% battery!

I absolutely love this Rom as well. Unfortunately for me I will be reverting back to rooted stock. That's the only way my GPS with Maps will work. I tried EVERY suggestion recommended. I tried GPSFix. I tried GPS Status. I even followed instructions on flashing A GPS PATCH and it installed correctly. Tried again same thing. Locks but when I start moving it jumps around. I try to navigate somewhere it shows me in another state. All messed up. When I go back to stock with root I have no problems. Oh well.
Edit; Went back to stock everything on my phone and still having GPS issues. I guess I'm gonna have to go get myself a replacement phone
I too have had the best experience with CR. Jumped on board around 2 or so. I've tried others but keep coming back to CR. Best battery, stability, and support. Thanks Scot!

5.6 is the newest.
When new update is released. Down load ROM and simply dirty flash over 5.6
For lean kernel. One must download and place in SD card.
Boot into recovery.
Flash or install ( whatever you call it) the kernel.
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik cache
Fix permission.
Hit that thanks if I made sense
