So here in Las Vegas there is a Zagg store. Based on everyone's recommendation I decided to get a Zagg InvisiShield for my phone. I picked up 2 or 3 of the demo phones and was like hey this doesn't feel stick or tacky like everyone said it would!
So i look at the prices:
Zagg Full Body Skin $21
Installation $12 includes free Zagg microfiber bag.
So I decided to say OK, Ill let them install it so if they screw something up they can fix it on the spot. The fate of my phone is in their hands. I go to the counter and they tell me come back in 30 minutes.
So i am roaming around the mall, spending money on other crap I don't need. 30 minutes later I go back and pick up my phone. The moment I pick it up i am like WTF! Phone feels like its wrapped in a used condom!
I ask the sales associate why it doesn't feel like the "demo" phone and he goes ohhh that's the wrong one out there. That phone was put out there to show all the scratches on it. I go grab the demo phone and go dude where are the scratches on this thing!! There were none I was FURIOUS!!!!!!!!!!
So needless to say I have this $40+ dollar Zagg POS on my phone and I am really hating it, but I cant bring myself to tear it off and lose my $40. I don't know what to do.
Things I immediately noticed for those of you who want to know what to expect from a Zagg InvisiShield.
1. Tacky Tacky Tacky - Phone feels like it wrapped in a used condom
2. Screen Resolution - This thing KILLS the look of the screen. Looks like a TV wrapped in Saran Wrap
3. Exposed corners - the skin doesn't even cover the corners of the phone. If on an you drop it on a corner edge you will dent the case easily
4. Feel - The edges of each individual piece don't line up properly on the phone, the screen protector is off to one side a little and the other pieces on the skin don't line up. This makes it so the edges of each piece you can really FEEL. It really ruins it.
5. The edges also give the edges of the touch screen a rough edge that you can easily see over the black sections of the digitizer.
I will try and get some photos tonight of everything I am talking about. All in all i am VERY unhappy with the Zagg.
So the question is do I take it off and deal with no protection, or say screw it and leave it on?
As for the way the screen looks and the tackiness, that will change over time. The screen should clear up in a couple days. The tackiness goes away the more you handle the phone... the oils from your hands will change the feel over time and make it very smooth in comparison to what it feels like right now. On my G1, I can honestly say it took a few weeks of normal use and the tackiness was gone... you just have to give this time.
As for the edges and corners... well that's why I would personally go for the BSE skin... they did a much better job of covering the corners properly. If the installation on some of the pieces is out of alignment, I'd take it back and tell them to redo it properly.
There would be no way for them to actually DO that. Looking at the piece you can clearly see some are too small for the areas they are trying to cover.
Ill give the skin a few weeks and see how it feels.
For those of you interested here are some photos from the other thread that explain what I mean PERFECTLY
http://adambuckeridge.com/nexus-one/zagg-nexus-one
Well, as far as the screen protector size... EVERY stick-on protector is short. I'm guessing they all used the same template before the phone came out and are too lazy to change it.
I thought it was supposed to be invisible?
On all my previous phone, 4 so far, i used Invisible Shield, all installed on my own, and had always recommended it frens. So naturally i ordered InvisibleShield before i ordered my N1.
Previously InvisibleShield shipping was fast, this time round Nexus One came first and the shield came nearly 2 weeks after that. I never use the phone till the shield came, since i still had my old phone.
The InvisibleShield was PITA to install, the corners was not covered (as usual), the fit sucks!, Alot of big gaps here and there, i tried installing it 4-5 times, no matter how i tried i was not happy with the fit and quality.
So i return them for a refund, I needed a skin badly so i google around and read on several forums to find a better replacement.
I found BestSkinsEver, read alot of gd reviews on it, but was skeptical since the price was way cheaper then other full body skin out there.
When it arrives, i was abit disappointed. It came in a small envelope, whereas Zagg came with cardboard box with application pad and stuff. So i followed the online instruction on how to install BSE, i was amaze at how easy it was to install!
Other then mixing your own application liquid, the fit was great. I installed it once and it fit perfect!!! Very minimal bubbles, all the corners were covered!!! I did not use the screen protector though, since i prefered matt ones, easier to use Swype with.
Its been more then a month since i used BSE, still looks great. Corners not lifting, no signs of dirt trap on the sides, a prob i use always have with Zagg.
I highly recommend BSE, cheaper, fits great, cover corners, easy to install and also very enviromental friendly shipping package.
ur meant to leave it overnight after applying the skin

100% spot on.
I just bought the screen shield part, and it looked like goat crap, and it wass tacky as hell. The fit was poor because it's too floppy to align, the bubbles that are supposed to go away after 24 hours didn't and there were areas around the edges that didn't stay down.
I hated it, ripped it off the phone after the 25th hour and I'll badmouth those crappy shields for the rest of my life, or until I can't remember what a Nexus One was anymore. A warranty of a lifetime replacement of goat poop is worthless to me. It was a complete waste of my time and money.
I ended up buying a Seidio case for it - it's nice and easy to remove. I will look into another brand of screen protector. I don't care if they don't last forever - if it goes a day without looking like crap it's way ahead of a Zagg. I guess when it looks that bad to begin with, you can't really tell when it's degrading too easily.
Bottom line - and I have seen a lot of them since, is that they are ALL tacky, they ALL look like crap and the ALL introduce tons of artifacts to the screen.
Buyer beware - there is no money back on these.

I did. It was still an awful pile of crap on my screen after 24 hours - and I let it sit. It was the first time I didn't have to charge a battery in a while.

That was a joke, right?
Meh. Zagg makes good products overall... But the FIT on the N1 is absolutely atrocious. I will gladly buy a custom zaggskin if they can get a proper fit... I just emailed them to request information on possible plans to change their design for better corner coverage, or any other options they might be able to offer.
I'm not expecting anything in regards to getting a skin from them... But I'll hope nonetheless. (I would buy BSE, but I'd REALLY love to have a custom design if Zagg can answer my request.)

Should and does are two different things. I've seen lots of them on iphones, and they all look like crap, all of them with some bubbling under gooey, sticky plastic and no small amount of screen distortion. After I bought mine, I inspected installations of Zagg at Best Buy where I bought it - guess what? There were about a half dozen of them on test phone and they were all tacky. According to the resident geek, most of them were on there for well over a couple of weeks. The tackiness may diminish somewhat over time, but it will never be gone. Anyone who says otherwise is full of it.
I think the reason these are so over-hyped is because people feel like they were fools for spending upwards of $15.00 for a cheap chunk of stamped plastic that performs so poorly, so they promote them instead. What a crock.
I bought one for my Zune 120 and installed the back and didn't bother installing the rest of it. Ended up taking it off the back. I will never buy any more of these "cover all" device covers again.
another thing that that might not be evident right away is that crud sticks to the outer edges of these types of screen protectors i had this on two non touch screen phones and didn't mind it except for the gummy crap that i'd be peeling away from the edges all the time.

Ok, then allow me to clarify. It DOES clear up if you install it properly. I've been using Zagg or Zagg-like products since I had my T-mobile Dash. It's just like installing window tint... if you're completely haphazard with it, it will look like crap. But in all the ones I've applied, they've all LOOKED great, aside from the orange peel effect that's evident on just about all the skin-type products. The best that I have used thus far is Clear Protector. I've had their screen protector on my G1 for almost 9 months and it looks perfect still.
Also, it (and the others) was tacky coming from just the glass screen at first. Over time the CP on the G1 has gotten MUCH smoother and less sticky. I suspect a small amount of this change is really just me getting used to the film and forgetting how smooth the glass is on its own (I remember when I took the last Zagg off my G1 prior to the CP and being surprised at how much more slick it felt), but I have compared it to one of my fresher installs and there's a noticeable difference.
Anyway, my main point is that you're right about the tackiness never completely going away, but wrong about the screen looking like crap after the install has settled. If it still looks like crap after a few days, then the installer screwed up.

Well, it's evident that it's pretty damn easy to screw up, because every installation I have seen looks screwed up. Even if there were no bubbles, the screen look mottled and distorted. And if you look closely enough, there are always bubbles.
As far as my own experience goes, I didn't just "haphazardly" apply it - I followed the directions supplied with it to a T.
That "orange peel effect" you refer to is NOT on all screen protectors - this isn't my first go 'round with screen protectors.
The Zagg product is just a lousy, crappy, overpriced, poorly engineered product, and I don't know how anyone being objective could think otherwise. The fact that a company provides no avenue for refund is very telling about their product. Effectively, there is no satisfaction guarantee - a guaranteed lifetime supply of goat dung isn't satisfaction.

Uh, can I point out here that "looks like crap" is completely subjective? You may have been happy with it but I was never very happy with mine. The fact is the thing is not completely "invisible" - the orange peel effect is very noticeable and it's going to be up to each individual user to determine how acceptable that is. I thought it looked like ass, myself.
Frankly, I was just thoroughly unhappy with the Zagg Invisible Shield. The whole-body protector was utter sh*t, with the corners peeling up left and right, and gunk getting under all the corners making them impossible to stick back down (not to mention the large gaps at the corners), and even the screen protector got lint and dust under the edges, bubbling it up. It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't so outrageously expensive and unable to be removed and re-applied.

While I agree, Zagg isn't the best out there, I can guarantee there are at least a couple that are worse! Anyway, there is enough competition and alternatives to never have to buy either of those brands, including Zagg.

I agree with your initial comment... and on a continuum of various subjective outcomes, I'd hardly say Zagg looks like crap. Ghost Armor is the worst I've found....yellowing after only a couple months. I'm sure others are also pretty crappy in comparison since the number of knockoffs is staggering. That being said, there are many products superior to the Zagg as well. Clear Protector, PhantomSkinz, BSE, etc.
I should clarify, contrary to what it seems you guys think, that I was never totally happy with the InvisibleSHIELD. I much preferred the Clear Protector on my G1...and on my N1, I am thoroughly happy with the dcmugen88 static screen protectors. So if I came off as a gung-ho Zagg fan... I'm not. I do think they're overpriced (seriously, $15 for just a screen protector is retarded), and there are better alternatives for less.
The point I was trying to get across, which everyone seems hellbent on disputing is that how good you are at installing makes a difference, sometimes all the difference. I can install at least the screen protector portions of these skin-type products with my eyes closed and the next day you won't even see them on there...I'm sure others can too cuz it's not rocketscience. On the other hand, I'm sure some of you don't have the patience or skill to get it looking that good either... just the way things are. That's all I'm saying. Anyway, if you guys want a great screen protector, I've been saying for over a month to go with dcmugen88... exactly the same as the Seidio product at a fraction of the price...or if you want a skin, get the BSE (Best Skins Ever) product. Paul22000's installation pics are proof positive that it's the best skin for our phones.
Well, I stand corrected. Evidently, there is an avenue for a partial refund. I say partial because the buyer is on the hook for shipping the entire package back to Zagg, and that's not free. You also need to get it done within 45 days and have your original sales receipt.
In the end, you can get SOME money back in exchange for a boatload more effort than it's worth. Still, I'd rather give the post office some money and Zagg zip, zilch, nada - so I'll be enduring the aggravation of the pursuit of a refund on general principle.
Update: After two days, I got an email back from Zagg effectively saying they don't refund items they didn't sell directly. This is not a returnable item from the retailer I bought it from - so I am back to getting even more camel dung for my money - or nothing. I choose nothing and a lesson learned.

Well, you forgot to say "bazinga!"
Ok so its been 4 days ......
Case is still Tacky, not as bad as day 1 but still tacky!
Orange peel effect on the screen has not cleared up!
Dust and gunk are starting to build up on the edges and its been in the micro fiber bag since I bought it..... what a POS.
If you say the orange peel affect is from "poor installation" I will laugh my butt off. This was installed BY A ZAGG REP IN A ZAGG STORE! So don't give me crap about "poor installation"
I have decided to make a compromise on this. I am going to keep the full body and just replace the screen protector portion of it. I cant stand the way it affects the way it makes the screen more difficult to type on. So now I am looking for a good CLEAR screen protector.
Any recommendations?
so my g2x is kind of roughed up (i've had the same one since april guess i got lucky cause i've had minimal issues) and I can't stop thinking about just callin tmobile and gettin a new one but i don't even know if it's worth it cause i don't wanna end up with a bad one and end up switching a million more times for cosmetic damage (which isn't what i'd tell them) but I heard a lot of people just get sensations for it instead which I'm thinking about doing simply because it's worth more (which i think is bullshi*) and just sell it as soon as i get it as a new phone and just cut my losses and go somewhere else ? I don't really want to let this phone go but with the way i handle it and what it's worth right now in the market I really don't think it's worth the extra 200 bucks i'd loose but idk where else i'd go either so idk . . .don't mind the hashtag i don't fux with twitter but i thought the tag suited the feeling... don't forget i <3 my g2x im just torn..nohomo.
so, because you "roughed yours up", you feel tmobile owes you a new one? you made it sound like that was your main concern--the cosmetic damage which YOU caused. does anyone in this country have any morals left?

mine you can see around the entire perimeter of the phone. i had to have it in a well lit room to see, but it's pretty noticeable. nice case, bad design flaw though.

Damm yeah its a beast case but like you said the way it's designed to hold sucks. When I get a SOD I try my best to be careful opening it.

Mytouch 4g had a hard plastic and scratched the sides. It was an eye sore and hated that I caused that damage to my phone.
I was more careful with the g2x and ended getting a rubber case. Easy removal, no scratches and can treat the phone rough without worry. When it didn't have the case I felt like my phone was naked.
Rubber case is best option
While I have never had one replaced for cosmetic reasons, I have enjoyed getting a nice replacement. I never really beat mine up though. All my phones looked pristine aside from a new TINY scratches. Never really did anything I couldn't live with.
There are ways around cosmetics though. It isn't like the G2x never had any problems that Tmobile wasn't aware of. Something simple as "the GPS doesn't work" could do it. However Tmobile charges $20 for replacements and if its pretty banged up, they may say it was user damage and not replace it.
ok real talk T-Mobile is happily getting paid and willing to give all their **** to ATT so why would I honestly think twice before making a legitiment financial decision about this phone since honestly i had a LG before and it just quit working the software just bailed on the phone outta nowhere but if they're going to be douches and not support our phones and what not why should i feel obligated to be a good Samaritan after #1 they lied to me in April saying the update will be out in 2 weeks #2 LG didn't even make a legitiment update yet. and this phone is worth 100 dollars less than a sensation and i don't F****ing know why and it pisses me off so yea if I switch it out for my cosmetic issues or w.e to make some of my money back i put in this phone which is still going to be a loss i don't see why it would be considered morally wrong especially after i know everyones been dicked by tmobile before atleast if you've been with them for a while.

So you're getting a SGS2? I thought you were already over at the SGS2 forums because there is someone else with the same avatar pic, lol.
You'll feel right at home because we already have an EB rom and a few others, not to mention Team Whiskey should hopefully have something up next week.
Honestly I'm loving my SGS2, I thought the phone size was gonna be a problem, but after a few hrs you get use to it and it really ain't that much bigger than the G2X.
Hercules Hercules!!
on a side note i decided to just wait for it..
I got a guy tomorrow whose willing to do a straight swap, his great condition One S for my great condition Galaxy Nexus.
Since purchasing the Nexus a week ago, I've been annoyed severely by the yellow tint of the screen, 720p or not. I saw a demo model of the One S at a local retailer and the white's were much better then that of the G-Nex.
So what do you guys think, even trade, should I pull the trigger?
(Apologies for posting this both here and in general, Mods, please delete this thread as it is a duplicate)
Thanks.
do it !! if you dont like the nexus and you do like the one s, its a no brainer lol
and if its a straight swop with no money involved, you got nothing to lose really
Exactly, I would do it as well! There's no reason not to do it. But check the phone in detail and pay attention to
- coating (if it's the black one)
- display color from different pov, there are displays out there providing a whole rainbow
- sim cover (sometime there not fixed well)
Overall the One S is the superior phone.
I would..I love this phone. Gotta sari probably the best phone I have ever owned

i went back to my galaxy nexus, mainly due to the lack of AOSP options on the one-s right now. once there are some more ROMS available i will probably start using the One more often.
I made the trade, and I'm so happy I did, the One S is gorgeous! Man the device is so thin, such a pleasure to hold in the hand, and feels solid. As odd as it sounds, it made the Nexus feel thick and heavy! I'm also very happy with Sense over ICS, it's really a treat to use and finally, yes, finally, I've bought a phone that I can actually keep for the next year! I've gone through so many devices in the past 6 months it's made my head spin. This is the "One", as fitting as that sounds. Now, time to Zagg up the entire phone!

Glad you made the right choice just about zagg... I am not sure invisible shield is a good choice on this phone. What colour is yours BTW? I have seen a picture in the accessory threads that it looks awful with zagg. Just a simple tpu is the best I believe.

Thank you, I'm glad too. I never was quite able to warm up to the Nexus. Going from the Amaze, to the SGS2, to the Nexus, to the One S has been anything but fun, but ultimately, I've made the right decision in terms of the S having everything I desire and then some.
It's the grey version with the blue camera lining. Not sure what color this is. But it's really amazing feeling quality, I mean, I've never held a phone that felt this good in my life. It's also in mint condition, which is why I wanted to Zagg it up to ensure it stays that way. So you're suggesting not to use Zagg. Do you know of any other full body protectors that would be compatible? It's definitely something I want to do as soon as possible.
Thanks again for your help.

Do you know of any other full body protectors that would be compatible? It's definitely something I want to do as soon as possible.
Thanks again for your help.

I don't know other full body protector other than Zagg. Was wanting to get zagg for my grey one s as well cos had it on my wife's iPhone and it was not bad. But since there are two pieces on the back of one s it looks bad IMO with invisible shield being split into two.
I would suggest a case or the clear hard shell but the latter does not cover top and bottom so don't drop the phone.

I found a store (cart) in my local city Galleria called "Gadget Guard" that has a great full phone body protector. It doesn't covery the camera's, or speaker grills, and fits pretty good. The protector is also very durable and less "bumpy" over Zagg. It's smooth and feels natural. It also has a lifetime warranty which is great, so if it ever bubbles up or tears, they'll replace it for free.
The only problem is, I can't put a case over it because it might adjust and alter the protector. So that's a downfall, but otherwise, the entire phone is completely protected and it looks quite elegant imo.
Zagg has good and bad, I think. I had a screen protector on my sensation that I thought was better than zagg. Smooth and not so bumpy. And the plastic was like half as thin as a zagg shield. Personally, I have the skull candy case for my One S and am going sans screen protector. If i can think of the name of the screen protector that I prefer over Zagg, I'll let you know.
Edit:
I think this was the screen protector for my sensation:

I actually went to my local Mall and got a Gadget Guard installed on the entire phone. The lady who was installing it did a really good job, no bubbles AT ALL, no dust particles, and it goes all around the phone without compromising the camera, speaker grills, and is as tight fitted as can be without the ridges that Zagg sometimes causes. Plus it's great on detracting fingerprints.
Overall happy with it. Overall happy all together that I traded my G-Nexus for this amazing device (no disrespect to the HTC Amaze ). I'm one of the people who enjoy Sense and 4.0 on top of ICS has been a significant upgrade over 3.0 over GB. I'm still on the fence with rooting/installing a rom, but I do so with every phone I've owned so I'm sure the One S won't be any different. I'm just enjoying the stock experience so much as is.
Thanks again for your help.
To be honest, I think I am going to go to the mall today to put the screen protector on it as well. I may have found the store in Minnesota where I live. But ironically, I have been debating on going to the galaxy nexus from the One S, lol. The draw for me is the slightly larger screen and where the headphone jack and micro usb port are located. I like that they are on the bottom.

The guy who traded his One S for my Galaxy Nexus was very happy. He had every intention to trade and figured it was an equal deal, I agreed.
It's all a matter of taste, if you like the bigger screen, higher res, stock ICS with quicker updates, Nexus it is.
If you prefer a somewhat smaller, but just as vibrant screen, better processor, better camera, better speaker, go with the One S.
Both have their advantages and both are great, I just think I had a somewhat defective Galaxy Nexus unit with a really awful blue/yellow tint issue with the screen. My eyes were never able to get used to it no matter how much I tried. And I've had a Galaxy S2, which was perfectly fine and vibrant to the core. But the Nexus' white's were just totally and completely off. It's like someone put a blueish yellowish filter screen on top of the phone prior to shipping.
I flashed Franco.Kernel to change the Gamma and RGB levels, but nothing, and I mean nothing helped. I tried every single possible combination, and it was always off.
First of all, let me say that I really like the S4. I sold my iPhone 5 and be able to buy it at full price when it was released. I like the size, it's just about perfect size for me, fits well in my hand. The air gestures and air views are pretty nice, they come in handy. Coming from an iPhone, having a replaceable battery is priceless, I liked being able to swap out my low battery with a full charged one.
My first S4 broke while in my pocket on 5/6, I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary, was just doing things around the house, when I pulled it from my pocket there was a crack from the upper right corner down the middle of the left side. The AMOLED display under the glass is what broke, device was unusable, nothing showed on the screen except some colors on top left above the crack.
After fighting with AT&T and Asurion the entire next day, AT&T agreed to give me an early upgrade. So I bought a new one on 5/7.
I received my new S4 on 5/10, then this morning, 5/15, while at work I was squatted down, texting, and dropped it from around knee level on carpet with padding over concrete and it cracked the AMOLED display, this time in the upper right corner, with 4 cracks from the side to about an inch into the display.
This S4 had a Spigen Ultra Thin Air case on it, as well as Spigen's Glas.t Slim screen protector.
I don't expect manufacturers to make phones that are indestructible, but this seems ridiculous to me.
I was a long time Apple user before I bought the S4, I don't think I will ever go back, but I'm regretting going with Samsung now. I've spent over $900 between both devices and now they are both in the mail (as well as almost $200 in accessories that are worthless now), for Samsung to evaluate, so for the next two weeks I'm stuck with using an old S2 that likes to reboot every 15 minutes.
I've read a few posts on here about people breaking the screen under the glass like I did. So I'd be careful if you own one.

That sucks dude. But hey, a little advice...fix that S2! If it's rebooting like that, there's something wrong. There are several super-stable Jelly Bean roms available for flashing these days. I come from that world, so I know it like the back of my hand...PM me if you'd like me to help you make your S2 awesome.
Before anyone says this isnt a necessary thread, I think it is.
Having a 32GB and having spent money on my device and screen protector and cases I'd like to know this too, so I would love to hear from anyone else that has broken their device easily
Damn that sucks OP. I think you have bad luck with the S4, I remember when you mentioned the S4 screen cracking while it was in your pocket. I would get another phone if I were you.
I have a really hard time "feeling sorry" for people who drop and break their phones and complain.
I don't know what kind of response (pity?) that you want from people.
Drop the iphone 4 in just the right spot and it'll crack too. Every phone is the same more or less.
Don't want a broken phone? Don't drop it. You break it that way, the fault is no ones but yourself.

That's kinda of an ignorant comment, the OP had his screen cracked and it was just in his pocket so no drop at all. The second time it was a drop but it is his experience and I understand it especially when you purchase a device this expensive twice. Don't be rude man.
His story for breaking in his pocket was "while around the house". So whats to say he didn't accidentally smash it again something while doing housework or anything else like a table?
Dropping your phone - what do you expect? Go buy a Nokia if you plan on dropping it. Even then im sure drop proof isn't part of any phone's warranty.
Pretty straight forward. You may not like my "tone" but you can't honestly count it against the phone if you're not keeping it safe. The error is human in this case. Own up to it and take better care of your phone.
I've cracked iphones and android screens and bodies before, it was probably my fault in handling it; but you definitely won't see me running to a forum and complaining about the manufacturer having shoddy quality when it was clearly human error.
I'm starting to wonder if maybe it's the Chinese models in specific breaking like that because I have seen multiple S4's dropped now WITHOUT ANY CASE from 6 feet and survive with only scrapes to the actual frame and here you have a case AND a glass screen protector, and it falls from half the height and suffers catastrophically.
Has to be something more going on here. Reviews will also show the phone can survive falls just like any other premium metal phone and then some, so quite an odd case here
ALSO to everyone else, stop hating on the OP. Yea I have to agree it's just really vague to say your phone was just up and broken, but I'm willing to look at it as the OP is telling the truth cause at worst, even if he is lying, it really don't matter.
No offense OP, but I'm going to call bull**** here. You have to be leaving out something -- even if it's by accident. I've had smartphones with larger screens for 5+ years now, and not once have i cracked or broken a phone. The last phone that broke was the first nokia clamshell that came out -- and that was after i dropped it from standing on to a concrete floor. Even then it worked still, the plastic just cracked a bit.
There is no way you broke your phone just having it in your pocket -- unless you were wearing super tight hipster jeans with your keys in your pocket. Futhermore, dropping your phone 2 feet on to a padded floor, won't just break your phone either....it just wont.
I've dropped my s3/s4 many times on to my wood floor now without any issues (without a case).
Also, wouldn't your phone be under the 14 day return policy anyway? If anything happens in those 14 days, you get a new one?
Overall, this just doesn't make sense. I think you are omitting some key details here; these phones ARE NOT that fragile.
EDIT-- How did you figure $900 dollars between two phones plus $200 in accessories?
A new line/renewal should be about $200-250 per phone; cases run $30-35, USBs 5-10, screen protector 7-15....
You should have gotten insurance.

I'm not asking for anything, I'm just putting this info out here.
In my experience, the S4 is easily broken.
And it's not glass that broke in both of mine, it was the display under the glass, the device was not usuable after. The glass was pristine on both, for that matter the both phones were as well, just the display cracked.
You can do what you want with the info, I'm just letting people know what happened with my 2 devices.
When you keep you phone in your pocket, make sure you always keep the screen against your leg. I broke my first Galaxy S2 with the screen out in my pocket when I leaned against a table.
I am shocked that the 2nd time with having a GLAS.t tempered glass that it broke.
You spend this kind of money on phone...treat it like your car....GENTLE. I have had a smartphone for years and not even 1 scratch on any phone I have ever owned. It is like your girlfriend or wife...Gently...
Very expensive way to learn.

Let's be realistic. It's no secret this phone is easily broken. And tbh, when you say something like "it's all your fault because you dropped it is a bit ridiculous. I've dropped my gs2 more times than I can count, face down, from up high, sliding across concrete etc, and the screen is still fine, but the build quality on the gs4 is seriously lacking. I'm scared to even buy one after hearing all these stories. For now I'm sticking to my gs2

How can you say the build quality is lacking if you don't even have one?
Just to be safe, think of it this way, if you drop it, it WILL crack. Of course, it might not but if you think it will every time, maybe a little more precaution will be taken. It doesn't matter if it was a mistake...just don't drop it. Any phone that is mostly screen will always have a certain level of fragility and should always be treated that way. It doesn't mean the build quality is bad.

Or like telling your wife about your girlfriend... handle it very carefully... like your life depends on it.
Samsung does extensive hard use testing on its handsets so I wonder if this was a bad batch or something. Thanks for sharing your experience. Hopefully we don't see a bunch of these threads popping up.

Ya my S4 broke too, dropped mine 2 or 3 feet in a case and the screen shattered, build quality is not there imo

well... i was just thinking about investing in a good case.. but now, i think i will buy insurance instead.. or maybe just sell it off.. really cant afford to loose an expensive phone like this.
thanks for the info.
The other day I was in the bathroom and forgot that I put my phone on the towel... Got a tiny dent on the corner(Plastic bezel sucks) even though once the cover for it comes in by the 14 of this month is driving me crazy just to see a scratch/dent on it.
Didn't even follow the title. You didn't "show us" anything.
Dont have a cam right now to take a pic. The phone fell and hit the floor with the right bottom corner. Honestly seems more like a chip mark than a dent or a scratch.

I actually order a case but still hasn't arrive.
First thing I get is a case. Even if I have to buy from best buy and pay s premium price. Protection is first priority. After that I'll hit Amazon and get s case I like. I take no chances because you can't undo a drop.

For most people you're right about the phone - and the random girl.
Yet no one puts cases on their fine crystal Scotch or Cognac glasses - they show them for the fine stemware beauty and art they are designed to be and treat them with care. And no one expects a random girl to be virgin clean ... especially a random that doesn't care if you're goin' in raw-dog.
I've always been disease free my whole life (I'm oooold) because I've chosen wisely .... and I've NEVER used a case on any of my Cell Phones, going all the way back to my first phone in 1992, because I treat them like the fragile glass and electronic pieces of artistic equipment they are.
As much as I agree with the analogy of cases for some people .... I certainly understand why most don't use a case.
Where we probably agree the most is when someone doesn't use a case (or condom) and then complains about how bad their lack of carefulness became a bad situation and blames everything/everyone but themselves.

That's why I use a clear case on my v20 with a built in metal kickstand. It shows off the phone but protects it.
The great news is that if you damage the top or bottom of your phone you can replace it by removing the 4 screws on those portions and buying a new chin or forehead. I swapped the bottom chin for a new one when my old one got scratched. It was quick and painless process.
