I got a guy tomorrow whose willing to do a straight swap, his great condition One S for my great condition Galaxy Nexus.
Since purchasing the Nexus a week ago, I've been annoyed severely by the yellow tint of the screen, 720p or not. I saw a demo model of the One S at a local retailer and the white's were much better then that of the G-Nex.
So what do you guys think, even trade, should I pull the trigger?
(Apologies for posting this both here and in general, Mods, please delete this thread as it is a duplicate)
Thanks.
do it !! if you dont like the nexus and you do like the one s, its a no brainer lol
and if its a straight swop with no money involved, you got nothing to lose really
Exactly, I would do it as well! There's no reason not to do it. But check the phone in detail and pay attention to
- coating (if it's the black one)
- display color from different pov, there are displays out there providing a whole rainbow
- sim cover (sometime there not fixed well)
Overall the One S is the superior phone.
I would..I love this phone. Gotta sari probably the best phone I have ever owned

i went back to my galaxy nexus, mainly due to the lack of AOSP options on the one-s right now. once there are some more ROMS available i will probably start using the One more often.
I made the trade, and I'm so happy I did, the One S is gorgeous! Man the device is so thin, such a pleasure to hold in the hand, and feels solid. As odd as it sounds, it made the Nexus feel thick and heavy! I'm also very happy with Sense over ICS, it's really a treat to use and finally, yes, finally, I've bought a phone that I can actually keep for the next year! I've gone through so many devices in the past 6 months it's made my head spin. This is the "One", as fitting as that sounds. Now, time to Zagg up the entire phone!

Glad you made the right choice just about zagg... I am not sure invisible shield is a good choice on this phone. What colour is yours BTW? I have seen a picture in the accessory threads that it looks awful with zagg. Just a simple tpu is the best I believe.

Thank you, I'm glad too. I never was quite able to warm up to the Nexus. Going from the Amaze, to the SGS2, to the Nexus, to the One S has been anything but fun, but ultimately, I've made the right decision in terms of the S having everything I desire and then some.
It's the grey version with the blue camera lining. Not sure what color this is. But it's really amazing feeling quality, I mean, I've never held a phone that felt this good in my life. It's also in mint condition, which is why I wanted to Zagg it up to ensure it stays that way. So you're suggesting not to use Zagg. Do you know of any other full body protectors that would be compatible? It's definitely something I want to do as soon as possible.
Thanks again for your help.

Totally agree with you. The phone is amazing, but the lack of AOSP is a killer. Hopefully things pick up next month.

I don't know other full body protector other than Zagg. Was wanting to get zagg for my grey one s as well cos had it on my wife's iPhone and it was not bad. But since there are two pieces on the back of one s it looks bad IMO with invisible shield being split into two.
I would suggest a case or the clear hard shell but the latter does not cover top and bottom so don't drop the phone.

I found a store (cart) in my local city Galleria called "Gadget Guard" that has a great full phone body protector. It doesn't covery the camera's, or speaker grills, and fits pretty good. The protector is also very durable and less "bumpy" over Zagg. It's smooth and feels natural. It also has a lifetime warranty which is great, so if it ever bubbles up or tears, they'll replace it for free.
The only problem is, I can't put a case over it because it might adjust and alter the protector. So that's a downfall, but otherwise, the entire phone is completely protected and it looks quite elegant imo.
Zagg has good and bad, I think. I had a screen protector on my sensation that I thought was better than zagg. Smooth and not so bumpy. And the plastic was like half as thin as a zagg shield. Personally, I have the skull candy case for my One S and am going sans screen protector. If i can think of the name of the screen protector that I prefer over Zagg, I'll let you know.
Edit:
I think this was the screen protector for my sensation:

I actually went to my local Mall and got a Gadget Guard installed on the entire phone. The lady who was installing it did a really good job, no bubbles AT ALL, no dust particles, and it goes all around the phone without compromising the camera, speaker grills, and is as tight fitted as can be without the ridges that Zagg sometimes causes. Plus it's great on detracting fingerprints.
Overall happy with it. Overall happy all together that I traded my G-Nexus for this amazing device (no disrespect to the HTC Amaze ). I'm one of the people who enjoy Sense and 4.0 on top of ICS has been a significant upgrade over 3.0 over GB. I'm still on the fence with rooting/installing a rom, but I do so with every phone I've owned so I'm sure the One S won't be any different. I'm just enjoying the stock experience so much as is.
Thanks again for your help.
To be honest, I think I am going to go to the mall today to put the screen protector on it as well. I may have found the store in Minnesota where I live. But ironically, I have been debating on going to the galaxy nexus from the One S, lol. The draw for me is the slightly larger screen and where the headphone jack and micro usb port are located. I like that they are on the bottom.

The guy who traded his One S for my Galaxy Nexus was very happy. He had every intention to trade and figured it was an equal deal, I agreed.
It's all a matter of taste, if you like the bigger screen, higher res, stock ICS with quicker updates, Nexus it is.
If you prefer a somewhat smaller, but just as vibrant screen, better processor, better camera, better speaker, go with the One S.
Both have their advantages and both are great, I just think I had a somewhat defective Galaxy Nexus unit with a really awful blue/yellow tint issue with the screen. My eyes were never able to get used to it no matter how much I tried. And I've had a Galaxy S2, which was perfectly fine and vibrant to the core. But the Nexus' white's were just totally and completely off. It's like someone put a blueish yellowish filter screen on top of the phone prior to shipping.
I flashed Franco.Kernel to change the Gamma and RGB levels, but nothing, and I mean nothing helped. I tried every single possible combination, and it was always off.

I still have the original plastic film on the screen from when I bought the phone but it's starting to peel off on one edge. Can anyone recommend me some good screen protectors? I would prefer it they do not smear and don't distort the screen in any way (colors or clarity). Thanks for any help! Loving this phone.
I'm in the same position. I went to ebay and purchased this extreme guard for $3.99 with free shipping.
It was sold when I found out the material is for protecting exotic car paint jobs...

You know, the one from tmobile isn't that bad. I was skeptical at first, but its easy to put on and I am actually satisfied. I took it off once to reposition and then peeled various parts back to get dust off of the screen and its stuck like it was brand new.

Yeah I'm trying to find a good sp before I get my G2 also. There's a few threads here already and the Vikuiti sp has good reviews but I'm waiting to see if someone can tell me if it's better than the Realook sp. I had the Realook one for the Vibrant and it was great, couldn't even tell it was on (aside from the ocassional fingerprints).
i Have the ones from T-Mobile, a little high in price at $14.99 but if u mess up you do get 2. You also get a screen cleaning cloth. If you like to use Swype then ull love this SP! it makes it super easy 2 swype. Fingers never get stuck to it and its a much better SP than the ones for the Mytouch / G1. iF u can find a friend whos buying a G2 u guys can go half on the pack at that point its 8 bucks a pop. Not bad.

I'd like to find one that isn't "rubbery" at all. The one that came with my wife's MT3G isn't "scratch proof" like the rubbery ones, but it's nice and smooth and doesn't give the "orange peel" texture and distortion to the screen. I really don't mind if the SP get's scratched, I can always replace it! I just want an experience that is as close to no SP as possible.

If you both need OEM cases, then there is a deal at T-Mobile stores where if you buy 3 accessories, you get everything for 30% off. It would make the screen protectors about $10 (and the cases between $17-20-ish).
I don't mean to be a troll, but why do people need cases or screen protectors? You can try to scratch the screen with a razor and have no luck. I've never used a case or a screen protector, and all of my past phones still look new other than some slight paint rub off and one has a tiny dent on the corner from dropping it 8ft. All glass is 100% scratch free, even after many drops. What are you people doing with your phones???

I think I could keep my screen scratch-free, but to be honest I just simply don't want to risk it. With every phone I've purchased, I've thought I could keep from dropping it, but shtuff happens. A scratched screen is highly annoying. I'd rather have a screen protector and never have to worry about it.
I have a bad habit of dropping my phone, usually on hard, unforgiving concrete. The last thing I want is to damage or scratch up my case--especially during the 14-day buyer's remorse period.
I've used martin fiekd overlays and its pretty awesome.

I dont know about you, but when i sell my phones, it usually helps when the screen looks next to new. Tiny scratches develop over time whether you like it or not, so a SP is good to use. Plus, i dont know who fed you the information about glass being 100% scratch free because it is not.

I was saying my glass on my used phones are 100% scratch free. I have sold many phones on eBay after using them for 2 years. Their screen all looked "next to new" despite never using a SP.
They seem like a good idea for a female that drops her phone in to an over filled purse, but my phone is always alone in a pants pocket or sitting on a table/shelf/etc. I have dropped my phones multiple times, but thankfully none of them have ever got a scratch from it.
The best SP I have found to date is the one from T-Mobile. It's anti-smudge, cuts down on glare and has a great feel to it. I paid $15 for 2 of them.

I bought one of these last week and I have to say it's probably the worst screen protector I've ever seen. The only positive I can think of is that, despite being slightly more complicated than your regular screen protector, it's easy to install it without getting any bubbles under the screen.
Once on, the screen looks extremely tacky. It's almost impossible to install it without trapping any dust underneath. Probably the worst thing about it is the feeling of the material it's made of. Despite having the whole 'being made out the same material as what's used to protect military helicopter blades' gimmick they have going on, I don't think it's a good material to have on your screen. The material is thick and soft. They say it's unlikely to scratch, but due to the soft nature of the material, it's very easy to make (permanent?) impressions into it. After just a day of use the screen looked extremely scratched up and really looked awful.
It also doesn't have a smooth finish. This really stands out when looking at it from an angle.
At prices of over £10 for only one protector this item is an absolute rip-off. Stay well away.

After i bought this Invisible **** for my old HTC Daimond ... I will never buy again this ...this ... **** This is the best word to describe it. INVISIBLE ****
Wow, alot of bad points. I have been using thshield on all my devices in my sig, and i gotta day its worth it. my screen gets protected. yes it does scrathc, bug not as much as other sscreen protectors. i have been using mine since
s eptember. my only con is that on resitive tiuch screens, you have to prress harder on the screen and it gives an unpleasnt felling and squelching noise when you flick scroll. like chalk running down a board thing
Yeah, I bought one of these too, and it was so badly shaped, unpleasantly textured and and difficult to apply that it immediately went in the bin. In the four months or so I've had the phone I've not got a mark on the casing it yet anyway- the unibody is very tough.
I've used many different shield on my phones, and ZAGG's Invisible Shield is imo the best. After couple of days of usage it becomes really smooth and there's no bubbles or dirt under the shield. A friend of mine didn't even notice the shield until he looked at the screen from an different angle.
My advice is to use this material to protect the body, but NOT the screen.
The orange peel effect, reduced luminosity and really poor tactile feedback/stickyness make it a really bad choice.
I put one on a camera screen, also on an iPod. Several years ago now. The protection (& grip/non-slide) offered to the iPod is very positive, but it's a magnet for smudges and other imperfections.
& while we're on the subject, spend a few €/$ and get a quality screen protector from one of the trusted brands, instead of the 10 for a dollar ebay ones
I find that screen protectors last the life of my phones, so it's a small investment really.
to me there are better options than Zagg IS.
I personally never use Zagg's but I've seen couple friends of mine having problems with IS. After a year the edges of the IS-folie seemed to dry off and changed to same faint orange color. They all used full protection (screen + body) and all the edges became so and look ugly.
Upon seeing that, I used Skinomi on both my DHD and Touch HD and I am VERY satisfied. Get from Amazon.com. It's cheaper and it comes with lifetime warranty.

THE BEST BEST BEST solution for me was buying CaseMate POP with screenprotector in it Can 100% recommend it!
Screenprotector CM POP is scretchproof - the black parts of CM POP are "scretchlove"
but... it's great!
I used my iPhone for two years without any protection rather the case (nothing fancy).
The DHD would get the same treatment. No shields.
Just be a little careful and don't put your phone straight in your pocket with some change in it.
Now i have to invest in a new better screen protector, any suggestions?

I fit these things in my work for a price of £6.99 or £9.99 for the whole thing, it's a good piece of kit if you don't mind the feel of it but it only really looks good on an iphone 4, you really can't notice it besides the feel, DHD on the other hand makes it look cheap an nasty, the material is the same stuff they use on the Apache helicopters, it's remouldable for a longer period of time, if you get marks on it then that's your fault, it won't allow scratches easily at all it's very robust, tbh if you want a nice smooth and strong screen protector then may i recommend a griffin as they are the smoothest.
Also when you use zagg you must leave it to set for around about 2 - 3 days to properly benefit it, if you have a problem with dust underneath the screen then you obviously haven't done it properly, i never get dust under the protector.

Dont know if anyone is looking for a Screen Protectors but Boxwave.com has their ClearTouch Crystal Screen protectors and those things are clear supposed to be 99% Clear. They're like 12$ maybe cheaper with Coupon code. hard to tell you have one on if applied right. Check em out
I got the ones from Verizon and don't like them. I may try these. Thx
I've always used Clarivue screen protectors but they don't have any for the Thunderbolt yet so I tried Steinheil and they are basically the same. They use static cling to adhere to the screen, so no liquids and any bubbles are easy to squeegee right out. I got the Ultra Clear and they are excellent. I agree the ones I bought from Verizon suck.
I bought the matte one from handhelditems 3-pack for $5.xx. Fits great and no bubbles at all. I prefer the matte finish/feel although it darkens the screen a little. It doesn't show fingerprints.

You beat me to it! Excellent zinger. LOL.
I used Invisible shield on an iPhone, and got used to it, but not sure I'll go back to that brand if I ever go back to using protectors.
I haven't used screen protectors for the last couple of years. No scratches on any of my devices over the years except for my original iPhone EDGE which got a nice ugly scratch right in the middle of the screen despite kid glove treatement. That made me put screens on my newer iPhones up to and including the 3G, but the 3G, iPhone 4 and all of my Android phones (5 of them) have gone naked without any screen scratches, and I'm not particularly kind to them. I often put two phones in the same pocket along with some headphones unplugged; all I do to protect the screens is put the phones where the screens don't touch each other.
All that said, there's something about the "feel" of the Thunderbolt's screen that makes me feel like it needs some protection. It's got a plastic-ish kind of feel compared to my Nexus and Samsung phones. Not sure what brand to try. Steinhell seems to be the most praised around here.
By the way, this should probably have been posted in the Accessories section.
I just bought the Zagg. The self-healing and key scratch test appealed to my desire to protect one of the most expensive phones I have ever owned. Did I fall for gimmick?

Im running naked on the TB.. Ive had experience with Steinheil Ultra Crystal on my Dinc. It held up well but as far as healing from any slight nicks it seemed very fragile. In fact after I believe the 3rd day it had a large gash right in the middle of the protector and I baby my phones excessively. I removed it after about 2 months and used the Dinc naked for about 5 months before getting the TB and it still looks brand new.. I have to agree thought that the TB screen does have a fragile feel to it and has an almost mosaic look to it under light whereas the Dinc looks very sharp. I may decide to go with the Steinheil Ultra Fine this time around for both my TB and Xoom

All that said, there's something about the "feel" of the Thunderbolt's screen that makes me feel like it needs some protection. It's got a plastic-ish kind of feel compared to my Nexus and Samsung phones. Not sure what brand to try. Steinhell seems to be the most praised around here.

All that said, time for me to come back and eat up a serving of my own crow to warn others that these rotten phones need a 3rd party screen protector.
I originally put a Clear Coat shield on my Thunderbolt after about 2-3 weeks of owning it. I had it "professionally" installed at one of their kiosks. Butt ugly installation! Some kind of haze under the protector that just left streaks and were noticeable enough to be annoying, but not enough to bother going back.
Eventually I convinced myself that the phone didn't need one, and the screen does look MUCH better without it.
Anyways, you know where this is going...i took the Clear Coat off the phone (even posted a youtube video of it) about a month ago and damn it, I now have a nasty 1/8" scratch (enough to catch my fingernail on) up near the notification bar. Very disappointing.
I won't claim to have treated this phone with kid gloves, but it's never been dropped, has usually been holstered (the HTC one that protects the screen), and when riding naked with another phone in my pocket I always made sure it was glass to cloth, not the other phone.
Absolutely no clue how it scratched. Gorilla glass my foot.
Time to look for a new protector that isn't ugly and doesn't affect the screen's appearance; Steinhell still sounding like the way to go.
I use Gadget Guards. Cheaper than Invisible Shield / Steinhell but just as good, and no orange peel feel.

Yep. I was sold when I borrowed a friend, asked how he got away with not using a screen protector, and then was told there was one on. Had to look darn close.
Edit: borrowed a friend's phone

Hi guys!
Anyone going completely bare with their sensation? No case, no skins, no screen protector?
I ask this because I went with the full body skins (BSE) on my nexus one, after trying all the brands. They look great initially, then curl up etc. Then I used awesome clarivue screen protectors, but ended up ditching them. I bought a hard to find Barely There chrome colored casemate case from Great Britain even, and barely used it because it was such a tight fit (no on and off as per your pleasure, kind of thing).
Since I've learnt how to use my phone (dedicated pants pocket for it, with nothing else inside, Never use phone on the shoulder, always try to use headset for those kind of calls), I think I might like to risk it with my new phone, for aesthetics sake.
Anyone with me?
I'm going bare naked.....My hd2...I tried everything...and was not happy....I went bare naked and loved it....So..I'm doing it on the my HTC S4G...Bare naked style!

going in bareback right here... the phone just looks too damn good lol
Had nothing on my HD2, only a screen protector for several months then removed. My HD2 suffered several nicks on the body, solved with a new case.
And now the same with the Sensation, nothing on it.
I am! I've never had a case or screen protection on any of my phones and never will!
Had my N1 naked for 17 months and it looks the same as the day I got it.
Why put a bulky ugly case on something that looks so good!

Nekkid and loving it. I can't manage to find a case that looks good enough to put on this. I feel good with the gorilla glass. I may pick up an alternate back cover just in case.
Thought about screen protector but decided to go naked. Like the phone better that way. Noticed today that I have little scratches on the screen it held at the right angle. Had phone 2 weeks now.

Unless my old Nexus one sleeve counts, I'm going naked as well. The phone is way too sexy to cover up with an unsightly case.
definitely going naked. I'm a big fan of invisible shield type protection on some devices (plastic ones namely). On my Inspire I got a Ghost Armor skin installed and it took the phone from having that carved out of a block of aluminum (because it is) feeling, to feeling like typical plastic crap.
Since replacement backs seem to be inexpensive for this phone (I still think the ones going for 40USD have to be knockoffs) and the back is basically the whole phone, I won't bother. For the Inspire as soon as I saw that I could buy the pieces to reconstruct the casing (minus the screen) for under $100, I decided to risk it. I'm careful with my stuff anyway, but even a scratch would bug me.
Big fan of naked phones here. My Pre 2 is naked as well, and looks good as new (got it in December I think?). That phone is just glass and soft touch plastic so no skin would look good on it.

Nakkie here !
I'm using a screen protector but definitely no case. As the back case seems pretty solid compared to the more flimsy DHD, I'm not bothering with a cover.

I'm going commando but I will eventually get a spare unicase for piece of mind and resell value
Careful with all the nekkid streaking people. When I first went to the store to see the Sensation the rep put a nasty scratch on the metal part of the back while adding the security device.
If it does happen, it's only a hot $25 to fix though:

i have the current oem ones from htc got it from expansys i might try the reelook ones on amazon for only 10 bucs
I use Zagg invisishield because when you put them on correctly (a lot of people claim to get the this bit right and don't) they are simply the best there is, no scratches at all, it's stuck in place and it looks great, it's good at keeping fingerprints away too, no gloss just an almost rubbery texture which does a good job of hiding any imperfections on the screen if you have any.
They are the best as in terms of robust strength, ppl will say they're not but they are, the only thing your left deciding is what feel you want, the Zagg's have a rubbery texture like i said whereas the others like griffin and rocket fish have sometimes mirror effect, tinted effect (so it can only be viewed from the front)
Some with a Matt effect.
Theres loads to choose from but it's all down to preference.
As for the case you've picked, yea it's nice
All you need is your screen protector now, the ones you chose will do the job, but they're a pain to fit and are most prone to peel and scratch.
I got this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-X-SCRE...ting_LaptopAccessories_RL&hash=item2a11c88cc4
It works really well. You just need to apply it in a room with little dust as possible. You just drop it on the phone. It will suck itself on the phone and than you take qtip and get all the air out. Got mine perfectly that people don't even see that it's on
But I still like the screen better without the protection. It feels smooth but not the same

Ghost armour is wayyyyyy better than zagg, looks better, feels better, doesn't smudge like zagg does. Have zagg on my transformer and attracts fingerprints and smudged like crazy, the ghost armour on my nexus s hardly gets any finger prints and rare smudge, can't wait to get to the mall to get a ghost armour installed on my sensation, p.s girlfriends zagg on dhd looks like crap after same time as the nexus s ghost armour looks prestine

I tried Zagg on my Vibrant and even my iPad. The texture and feel is annoying if you like the smooth feel of glass. What I look for in a screen protector is total invisibility (as in you don't know it is there) and the Zagg doesn't handle that.
The final straw for me was when I noticed vertical lines that showed up like a rainbow when the screen was on. I did some research and found that I was far from alone with my problem (yes I put it on perfectly) and got a replacement. That one had a similar problem so I trashed it and Zagg. I still have the one on my iPad (though it has a couple of the lines as well) but I will not buy Zagg again.
As for protectors like the ones discussed in this thread being prone to peel and scratch... Wrong. I put a Realook ( my Vibrant and it still looks new (meaning it looks like glass) after some relatively heavy use being in pockets with keys and pocket knives as well as more than a few drops. I passed the phone on to my wife who's purse is a phone scratching machine and even she hasn't damaged the screen protector. If she does somehow scratch it I have a couple of spares (I think that one game with three).
I just put the screen protector that is being discussed in another thread (says 'the best so far' in the title) on my Vibrant and it is perfect. Unless I tell you that it is there you wouldn't know that I have a screen protector on my phone. The fact that they are crystal clear, feel like bare glass, and end up costing less than $1 each makes this a no-brainer. I can buy 20 of these for the cost of one Zagg AND it is a superior product.

Several posters, including me, have had problems with corner bubbles with that SP on the Sensation. May work fine on the Vibrant, like the Realook, but the curved screen on the Sensation can be problematic. Not quite a no-brainer.

I have one on my Sensation right now. I would take pictures but it looks like a naked phone and you wouldn't see it.
I don't know what I did differently but I have no bubbles on the corners. I basically just did a 'peel and stick' install and didn't use a hair dryer and all of that stuff. Maybe I just got lucky.

Understand. Appears to be a crap shoot. Mine also had pits and dings in the surface, which would have made it unacceptable even if the bubbles weren't there. I tried everything but a blowtorch to fix it, and no dice. Moving on to wet SP's, which so far have their own issues. Dang curved glass...
Does this cover the whole glass? I mean some screen protector only covers the flat surface of the screen, does this one covers even the beveled edges of the screen?

I just ordered one of these screen protector but I haven't put it on my phone the only thing I noticed is that the screen protector has a semi round cut out on the top or bottom of the film, its like its been cut to avoid something like a lenses of accelerometer but sensations camera lens is connected on the back cover not the screen. But the protector is.cut perfectly for the sensations screen its just that semi round cut out that intrigues me. Or maybe the guy sent me the wrong protector.

I just got the same protectors and posted in the other thread. They are great in my opinion. Way better than the rubber kind.
To answer your question, the cut-out is for a light sensor under the glass. Yes, it is there, but nearly invisible. Shine a bright light at the screen and you'll see it.
