I'm interested in getting this tab, and I've checked it out at bestbuy. My only concern was the web browsing lag I noticed. I've seen this also in some reviews of the tab. The lag happens when you click on a link at it'll take a good 5 seconds before it starts to even load the link. Viewing the pages is no problem, but going from link to link seems to be sluggish. I noticed this on my original galaxy tab as well.
I also noticed that the web browser for some reason dims the backlight. I know this was an option for the original tab, and I looked for some separate brightness setting but none was found.
Any owners want to chime in?
There are so many good alternative browser in the market that I do not bother to use the stock one any more. I recommend Miren Browser.
P_
i almost never use stock browers. also it depends on the connection speed and what you are trying to view. usually on the demo models at best buy they show all flash video. if you change that setting to on demand so you click the flash it speeds it up greatly
another bug i saw today... let me know if it exists. Go into any web browser and try to scroll at the very right edge of the screen in landscape. I tried this and it did not scroll. I tried this on the left side and it was no problem. I tried this after noticing the backspace on the keyboard doesn't register half the time. It seems like something is wrong with the screen on the right side. I'm wondering if the firmware update fixed this issue too.

Anyone know how to get to a screen calibration tool on the Captivate / Galaxy S? I've done a search and found a number of links for how to do it on HTC phones, but nothing for the Galaxy S.
My screen isn't far off, but on a number of different sites in the browser it will register a link below what I touched.
Thanks.
Steve
Sometimes the problem is how the browser is rendering the page/links. Now and then I have the same problem, zoom-in then zoom-out fix it.
I have this problem on google reader. It's like the ads that get tucked in at the bottom through the click-able area off.
So I usually try to open links from the bottom up. or just give it a little time to catch up... it usually does
My screen occasionally goes crazy on my captivate. I will be swyping in text and it will suddenly jump all over the place...one time it started in K9 mail, another in Dolphin mini browser. Once it starts the entire screen is effected and it makes navigation difficult and usually ends in a reboot. I am not sure if these apps have anything to do with it but I removed them and then reinstalled and that helped. Not sure if anyone has experienced something similar and if there is something in particular that might be causing it. It is extremely frustrating.
this issue has happened to me some times, I've noticed that all the times it happens is because the screen has humidity, water, sweat, etc. At least to me that is the reason.
Is there a way to calibrate touch on screen (similar to way we did it on Windows Mobile?).
My screen is quite a bit off. Keyboard enters keys below what I click; when I select links on the browser, even if zoom in close and be very sure I click in right area, it will select the link below.
Very frustrating.
I cannot find a way to calibrate it.
This on top of the VERY laggy response(currently trying Thumb Kekyboard) makes the experience pretty bad. I was working to make this something for my wife to use, but she may throw it and me out the door.
the browser is also off for me slightly, it works fine everywhere else though. It seems to be fine in Aurora browser (firefox alpha).
Also if it's laggy get a custom ROM.
Hi All,
I recently got the acer A510 overall i am happy with it except i have a few problems and wanted to know if anyone else is having the same.
I noticed a fair few apps are unstable. The store shows the apps are compatable etc but they crash a fair bit.
While i am not too fussed by it 1 does really annoy me.
It happens in both the built in web browser and on chrome.
Basically i can be on 1 tab and go back to another tab, but then it can't remember and starts to reload the tab (this is all in a matter of minutes)
Then after doing this a few times it stops loading. if i exit out and go back in all i get is a messed up black screen with bits of the app showing.
I have to reboot to resolve.
I have tried factory resetting and it's the same issue, all i did was sign up gmail and only download chrome. They both do the same thing.
Any comments on being a common issue or what i should try would be great.
Other than that the tab runs great plays movies great and is smooth very smooth.
I have the AUS version updated and theres only the 1 firmware. BTW acer are pretty useless in tech support area lol
Hi malos1984,
I have also issues with Chrome. Sometimes Chrome just freezes from time to time and the tab reboots. More often the page gets white and blinks (seems it tries to refresh but i gets white again). In this case I am able the restart Chrome.
It was so annoying – so now I am using Dolphin and I am quite happy. No freeze no reboots. Everything works fine.
It seems that more people have the same issue with Chrome on the A510. At least if you go through some of the play store comments…
Perhaps there will be a fix coming. Not sure if this needs to be fixed on the Acer side or on the Chrome side.
Cheers,
Elendiir
I tried Chrome, didn't like it and just switched back to stock. That browser has all my needs in it.
But I totally agree with the OP, Acer doesn't have the sharpest tech support. lol.

Lol no they do not they don't even have an email contact here in aus pretty bad for a tech company.
Back on topic.
The strange thing is the default one is buggy too very similar issue.
On top of that embedded YouTube videos on sites and forums show the videos overlapping each other in the top left hand of page in both orientations and a black box where they should be displaying on the page.
I hope we get 4.0.4 and jelly bean later on as a update.
Another question I had is why doesn't shadow gun work I stupidly paid for it but its delayed in responsiveness.
I.e. i press a menu button and about a minute later the menu opens, then in game I tell it to do something and it takes about 3 secs to do that.

Ya I hope we get JB soon. I could use with the tab being a little slicker. Overall things are very smooth compared to HC but pale in comparison to the iPad.
Btw, SHadowgun on the A510 sucks. See a threa here in Madfinger's forum. Lotsa people facing it yet they're not gonna do anything about it. That sucks! Link: http://www.madfingergames.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=525
hmm
I agree with the stock browser stability.. It seems to refresh whenever I change tab n back to the previous tab.. and sometimes when I am multi tasking, switching back to browser gives me a white blank page. I have to scroll back to the top then the page shows back.. WEIRD.

I faced the same issue on my tab playing shadowgun. however, after switching from 1.044 to 1.073, the problem have disappeared, but now I'm facing with problem of screen responsiveness while putting it on a table. they said its grounding issue and can be fixed from the settings, which have to be done every restart.(which I did not face it on 1.044).

Ok, I'm a noob at this but what's 1.044 and 1.073? I'm unrooted btw. Anyways, yeah the tab has got pretty bad responsiveness all around and you're right, when you put it on a table (flat surface) its totally unusable. Why is this so?

I do have problems with Chrome on the A510....I will probably try dolphin to see how it goes.. I hope acer releases an update soon cause I hate having that bloatware, including the AcerNidus app, which is supposed to collect information about bugs....well what for if they don't release updates to fix them?

If you go to about tablet, you should see a "software version" field. 1.073 is the latest.
I actually have my tablet sent back to warranty service since the gyroscope is miscalibrated. I'm supposed to get it back after a week.
As for the non-responsiveness, it is a bug that was introduced in the latest firmware updated. To fix it, you'll need to go to display >> screen responsiveness >> toggle it to low/medium, then high again. You need to do this right after every restart.
Just installed Synergy JB and have noticed that there is one finger zoom in here where you basically slide up and down on the edge of the screen and it zooms in and out. I see people with the note II have this also so it seems it may be a Touchwiz JB feature but I haven't seen a way to turn it off. It's nice but would love to find a way to toggle it. I already checked display, accessibility, and motion controls with no luck and it zooms in any app that can zoom.
If I remember correctly E actually put the GNOTE 2 camera in that ROM so what you are seeing is that actually camera... As far as I know the only way to change that would be to flash a different camera.... HOWEVER.. I do have the NOTE 2 camera on mine also and can pinch to zoom or use the volume keys so there may be different versions of that also... But anyways flash a different camera and that should do the trick

Well its not just the camera it's in the browser, wikipedia app, and others
I apologize.. I swear the post said in the camera app.... I know he pulled a few .APK's from the Note 2... All I can suggest is check the settings for the individual apps... You could also try and download a different browser and try that... That would help narrow it down if it is something "Overseeing" the ROM or something specific to certain .APK's....
anyone find a fix for this...it's happening in my browser now and it's killing me?

What Scroll Bars?

With all due respect, you may want to look at your screen and take note of the fact there are no scroll bars.
I understand that we are creatures of habit, and as I have been using the GUI, with Scroll Bars since the first Mac (1984) I too tend to use the edge of the screen to scroll, but the truth is, it is a Phone, not a Mac, not a PC. It has no scroll bars. Scroll slightly to the left (or to the right-so to not disenfranchise left handed phone users) or 1/4 of the way across, or 1/3rd, or 1/2 or 3/4 quarters, etc. etc. etc.
Anywhere you'd like. It's a Phone, it's a touch screen. No mouse, no ability to tap in the scroll bar and have the screen advance. No way to position your mouse over the up or down arrow, and have the screen scroll smoothly without any other movement than you holding down the mouse button.
It's a Phone. Get it?
Anyway, what is really infuriating is that Samsung put this feature on the phone, didn't tell anyone, until people started complaining about it and reporting it as a bug, and then rather than either tell people about it, or add the ability through a Setting to disable it, in a new release of the software, the morons simply took it away.
So let me ask you, if your phone came configured with the setting disabled by default, but gave you the option to enable it, try it, see if you liked it, then said, nah, and turned it off, would that have been best for you and guys like me who depend on it all day every day to be able to use my Phone with one hand?
I think the answer is obvious.
Samsung, you are laughable, amateur software developers.
Thankfully we have XDA.
Now I just need one of you on here to figure out where in the heck it is hidden so you can make me a build that includes it with whatever else is in the latest releases.
You see, Android is almost entirely "Hard Coded" so it is not something the average user can just go "teeak" , like following the step by step instructions of someone to simply "Hack" the Windows Registry to make it the way we like it.
All the more reason Samsung is so pitiful.
I've noticed my tab dropping inputs in somewhat consistent scenarios when playing games, and just recently found out why exactly that's been happening. It seems that if I tap immediately as soon as I release a swipe with another finger, it just extends the swipe. And the range is just outrageous?!? I mostly just want to figure out if there's something that could be done somehow? or if I should give up on this tab.
Your browser is not able to display this video.

I honestly would...
I believe kernel is in charge of touch so a different one might solve it? That's a big might tho and in my experience custom kernels usually are far worse than stock even if it solves the touch issue
