Hi there! - HTC Sensation

Hey all,
I just wanted to say hi. I am about to acquire a Sensation and I'm very excited to be here. I'm coming from a MT4G, and that is still a very good phone, with a very good community and great devs.
I'm going to go do a lot of reading of the forums, but while I'm here, is there anything specific I need to know about this phone before I get it?
What you like, what you don't like, etc.
This will be my first dual-core phone so it's a step up for me.
Anyway, happy flashing! See you all around.

Hey, welcome to the club! I'm damn sure you'll love your phone. Sensation has a great Dev community over here and some other forums. Contact me if you need some help
Take care!

Welcome to the Sensation club.

[Q] Rooted, what's next?

I've been browsing the xda-devs forum and been Googling quite a lot about rooting, and recently just took the plunge to root my Wildfire with Unrevoked.
Now that I've rooted, what can I do next? I've been through quite a bit, and I don't see any topic that lists out some examples for us root newbs to get started with.
I've been playing with Apple devices quite a lot, and I have the first gen iPod Touch which I have been active in jailbreaking and modding, but semi-retired ever since I got my HTC.
Would appreciate guidance from fellow forum members. Thanks. A list of things we can do with a rooted phone and guides on how to do it would be awesome.
First on behalf on everybody on XDA let me give u a big welcome . As to your question, there is a lot you can do with your newly rooted phone. You can find all you need here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=678 Hope you will find this link very handy.
PS: I used to have an iphone 3g also, i jail break it and unlocked it. But now i have a HD2 running android.

Thanks for the prompt reply mate. I've skimmed through those forums, but I can see that most of the topics are questions about this and that instead of 'guide' forums... so I thought it'd do us all good if somebody compiled a list of things we could do after our phone is rooted.
Sounds nifty, no?

Help Needed for Vorbeth

First, I want to say sorry to Moderator if this off topics, feel free to delete this thread if its look useless or something.
This is a dedicated thread for Vorbeth, he got a problem with his sensation, and his lovely sensation has been broken.
Vorbeth is one of our best developers who dedicated his time for us to developing and fixing bug on CM9.
Hope one of you guys have an idea how to collect the donation and give him, or someone have a broken sensation or want to donate his sensation, come here, we are all a family even i just come here couple months ago, but if you guys come and give a dollar for our sensation its really help him, lets give him an appreciation for his contribution for our community, for his time, dont let him go.
Lets collect the data, who have been donated and how much we got to help him here.
Note: Ive seen the same thread like this on X10 for zdzihu and so much people help him and we can buy him an X10.

hi!

my name is dale,
sorry if this is the wrong part of the forum, ive been looking for a newby forum and wanted to introduce myself however its friday and im starting to get tipsy! this site has helped me upgrade my battery pack, and internal memory on my htc hd7, and even replace my screen! i just wanted to say thank you and contribute where possible. ive been looking at wp8 and think its awesome! considering my 3 year old wp7 keeps up with quite a few modern phones with its mods i cant wait to see what the wp8 does. i just wanted to say THANK YOU XDA! no one will even try to argue with me about phones anymore... they only know how to buy them.
i read on a random thread while looking for the newby forum that i can take 10 questions that will show m not a spammer, would anyone mind helping me out with that? this site is HUGE! and also does anyone know of a screachingly fast single core processor/motherboard that will fit my phone? its about due for an upgrade too! or if someone has found a twin core+ that will work with windows 7 devices i'm open for ideas! no unlocking though, im not willing to deal with all of the glitches that come with that.
thanks,
dale

Hello fellow Htc one s brothers and sisters:laugh:

So as many of you have already noticed by the many threads here on xda, htc has officially cancelled any type of software update to the awesome htc one s which is really disappointing considered this phone is capable of handling basically anything you can throw at it imo. That being said I personally am annoyed because I refused to root or use custom roms up until htc stopped ota updates support completely and so that day has come.I want to greet all the members and devs here on the htc one s forums and thank you all because with your wisdom and experiences as well as the latest and greatest custom roms kernal etc are only possible by you guys and so this phone will never die and will live on still competing against the latest and greatest phones. So yea sorry for the long rant but welcome another htc one s brother into the club . BTW anyone recommend some of the best roms and kernals that are the most stable I would greatly appreciate it so much thank you and long live the htc one s!!!!!:good::good::good::good:
what's the point of making a new thread to say this? It's just like spam... There is a thank button for a reason
2nd it's against xda rules to use comparison forums, test urself and make ur opinion

Thread closed. Asking for best ROMs or ROM comparisons is not allowed. Furthermore, there is already another thread about the One S not getting any updates, so use that.

[Thank You] Thank you. You saved me.

Hello XDA!
I opened this account to say thank you.
Last week I bought a new Samsung Galaxy S4 (T-Mobile, m919) and began rooting it. The guides I read made no mention of the KNOX issue and I wound up with a soft-bricked phone.
I can't even begin to describe how I felt. I was literally sick to my stomach thinking I had just bricked a brand new phone.
Thanks to the guides and discussions found here on XDA (and a few on other forums, but mostly here) I was able to recover my system to stock and new phone is up and running again. This whole thing has been an emotional roller coaster, but also a learning experience. I feel much more informed now and confident that I have a place to find answers when I have a question.
I owe you all a big thanks.
I opened this account to thank you and be able to click the thank button from now on.
AND, I'll go out on a limb here and say thank you on behalf of thousands, if not millions of other lurkers who have gotten help here and just not taken the time to say thanks.
You guys ROCK. I don't even want to think about what would be happening to me right now had I not found this place.
Cool.
You can give back to the community by helping others who own that phone and run into similar issues in the Q&A forum. :good:
Your welcome
Always good to hear a happy outcome
Programming is a race between engineers striving to build bigger and better idiot-proof programs, and the Universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the Universe is winning.
i know the feeling, had the GS4 for 3 days before i soft bricked it.
had no idea that the update that recently came the day before locked the bootloader.
After searching threads here for a bit figured it out and was able to get to stock and "undo" my stupidity.
XDA , its devs and contributors are a priceless resource.
