As much of a n00b as he is, his Sensation is so much better than ours, since it has what is pretty much a Exynos chipset. I for one, respect that. The phones presence on this forum, not the OP.

i'm so sorry~!

Z710T is only for the Chinese market, if I remember correctly.
And the chipset inside is better than the Qualcomm in our Sensation from I read.
I think there is a special Chinese version of Sensation because China uses different mobile standard.

Hey i found a way to root the z710t....
1. there is no other way from HTCdev site, you have to unlock there.
2. there is special Clockworkmod for these model, you have to install this over fastboot, then ypu get the recovery, after you can flash any custom rom.

Hi! I will face the same problem: I am going to buy z710t because it's the best deal for my budget now.
Can you please provide the ling to CWM. And what kind of ROM you use personally on your z710t or can you recommend one?

Yes, I saw that! He he. ^ _^ But you have z710e while I have z710t that's why I thought I cannot do same things as you did to yours. Mine has different chipset than normal Sensation.
If I can do same things as you then I will buy that phone. (You know, Chinese stuff their phones with applications I never use and don't know how to use. More over I used to update stock ROMs - get the best out of the phone.)

I read a Chinese forum (http://bbs.angeeks.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=2377547) and guys say no z710e or G14/G18 ROMs will fit z710t. People who did that ended up with bricked phones. There are custom ROMs specifically for z710t in their forum. Hope their ROMs have English menu too. Ha ha.

[Q] HTC Desire S s-Off and ROOT

Hi there everybody,
I'm probably in the wrong section of the forum, and my questions are nubby I know, but I get confused.
My Desire S is S-ON, and I would like to get is S-OFF. Is this possible, because it is needed to be able to root the phone right?
And an offtopic question, what is a flash-able app, and what is the difference with a normal custom .apk which can be installed from the sd card.
Thanks in advance

It seems that HTC reverse its decision to block everything on the latest versions, after the petition that circulated on the net, requesting the release.

Actually, no.
From the same article:
"In short: custom ROMs, kernels, and recoveries (like ClockworkMod) may never come to the EVO 3D, barring some kind of epic HTC screw-up."

[Q] Is it worth it? & noob proof guide?

Is it really worth getting s-off and root on my Sensation?
What are the main advantages/disadvantages? & is there a simple way to go back to stock if my phone breaks and i need to send it to get fixed.
Also can someone link me to a noob proof guide to S-OFF and Root?
I've been looking through the development section, and there are to many guides to choose from.

By "noob proof" i mean the easiest way to do it all.
I've done things with like flashing software on psps, ipods, etc before.
HTC's official unlock process should be as easy as it gets, and due sometime this month unless it's slipped back.
The stock Sensation is a pretty solid phone though. So whether it's worth unlocking depends in part on whether you're happy with your experience using it, or are tempted by features offered by custom ROMs.
I unlocked mine as soon as I could. But then for me being able to tinker around with custom ROMs is part of the appeal of Android.

Hi,
All I know is that it is very close to stock.
I have never tried it myself.
It will not hurt to try it for yourself.
You can of course flash an RUU of your region and carrier.
This will return your entire phone(including recovery) back to stock.
It will leave you s-0ff.

No, if you still want s-off and root you are better off flashing one of the stock roms.
With ruu you will lose root, custom recovery and other goodies.
BTW, if you have a look under our avatars you will see why we cannot be on T-Mobile US.

[Q] Flash Custom ROM

Hi,
Is there any chance of bricking my phone while flashing a custom ROM to it? I have successfully managed to install 4ext as recovery but I want to be 100% sure. Also, would it be possible to load on an I.C.S ROM (I am on 2.3.5 currently, stock ROM) and is possible, what one would you recommend? Or if that is not possible, what ROM would you recommend I put on? Thanks in advance

Yes messing with your device always carries a possibility of a brick. It is hard task to achieve this but it us possible.
As for the ROMs there are plenty of recent great editions of different Sense and Android versions, so best read some threads, comments, try some of them and pick the one you like the most.
There are a lot of tools to make this fast and easy, such as the Recovery, backup software and Google sync

I would recommend you reading through the posts in the dev section and make your own mind up. Everybody has their favourite ROM, and the debate can get over heated, which is why its best for you to make the decision based on your own findings.
