[Q] Htc surround unable to boot up after updating!?!?! - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was trying to update my htc surround to windows mobile 7.5 but during the installation when the phone was trying to restart after the update, I decided to cancel it because it was taking too long(about a half hour and stuck at the htc with white screen background ). After i disconnected the phone from my computer, it still stuck at the htc with the white screen background. So I decided to take the battery out and put it back in. Now the phone doesn't boot up at all. When I press the power, nothing happens as if theres no power but I have charged and tried it, still no luck. My computer can't even detect the phone, not even able to detect the usb cord of the phone with the phone connected. Can someone please help me!!?!?

Pull battery.
Hold the camera button while powering it up.
Download mode? Great. Connect your phone to your computer, restore from backup.
No download mode? Fine. Pull battery, reboot holding volume buttons.
Download mode? See above. Otherwise, reset, then perform restore afterwards.

Do you mean that I have to pull the battery out ( dont put it back in ) and try to power it on while holding the camera button?
Is there anyway I can reset my phone without powering it up because my phone just won't even power on now....

You need reinstall the system.
DFT have a good rom.The rom is DFT V3.
You can try it.

By the way, if you use the DFT v3. You can't update with zune.

But my pc can't detect my phone so how can I install the rom?

Come on it's easy, he was saying that you need to take out the battery and while holding the camera button insert the battery again (still holding) and then try to turn on the device. If it shows any signs of life - congratulations you can flash a ROM and restore your phone. Oh and release camera button when you see any signs of life. If holding the camera button doesn't help, try holding both volume buttons (if i do remember corectly) and repeating same process. If that still was not helpful then i don't know maybe it's time to give it to repairman. And later on don't do anything while updating even if it takes long, my updates took about 1,5 hour (from very first wp7 to mango). Hope that i helped bro

Just to note also i have a surround. The mango update took over 1 hour because i had 9gb of data it had to back up and there was an inbetween update. Never stop an update in progress. Better to set to flash and leave it go overnight.

Mytouch 4G broke, basically?

Hey so, im a new member on XDA, (made a new account) >.< But i have a MT4G and the volume buttons broken on the bottom, So i cant turn it on. it goes to the hboot menu, and since the bottom volume rockers broken, i cant scroll down to recover to reboot it. So im kinda stuck here becuase it doesnt let you scroll with the top volume rocker unless you scrolled down already (which i cant)
If someone could help me boot it up (via computer usb cord.. etc etc) thatd be great. or just tell me a way to break it so its not jammed in anymore? without harming the actual phone itself. Thanks
Does adb reboot not work, or does the button override it?
You could always crack the phone open and work on the button itself. Look for a video on youtube regarding mytouch 4G disassembly.

Being totally honest, i havent quite messed around with adb. Not sure how that works

Same problem
Hey so i am actually having the same problem, but im not sure if it is software or hardware.
Details:
-Got the phone and it was running Stock gingerbread.
-Downgraded to froyo and rooted
-Flashed a few custom roms and now it is giving me problems of pretty much thinking that the volume button is always being pressed or something because when i boot i either:
a. go straight into HBoot
b. boots but then Safe Mode
c. Boots but after awhile the system freaks out with volume self going down to vibrate and then i have to restrat
I've flashed stock img .zip (PD15img.zip) a few times and sometimes it got better but eventually back to issue. Only thing i haven't done is turn s-on. I might do that but i've ordered the flex to replace it but wont be here for two weeks so i let you know.
Let me know if anyone else knows whats up please.
---------- Post added at 05:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:07 PM ----------
also when i do boot into HBoot and it allows me to use my rockers, i booted into CWM and did a key test and the volume down does not appear ever.
So have no idea if its software or hardware =(
Can you fastboot reboot?

If i do a battery pull and wait i can boot up normally, just did actually and then i can go thru the system fine but 5 minutes in it starts to freak with the volume down again. When in HBoot it freezes. But in OP he says that you can't move unless u volume down first, that isn't true i was able to scroll using volume up first. Sometimes HBoot freezes, sometimes it takes awhile then i can kind of scroll and either hit recovery or reboot (then chances are ill go into safe mode)
attached my sys info

To boot it just try a battery pull and leave it out (overnight works best) and u might get booted, or when in hboot leave there for awhile and then keep pressin the rockers and sometimes eventually it will scroll and do recovery into cwm if u have it and then reboot system
Okay so after 2 days of it booting into hboot, i came to the conclusion that after a little time (usually a 24 hours) it boots up, but the volume botton doesnt overpower the volume when the phones actually on (it doesnt lower volume) but when its off, it seems to be stuck and auto boot hboot. any ideas ? :/
i have no idea what u did prior to all this but i've fixed mine so far. flashed the hboot 86 pd15img.zip. pretty much when u can get it to boot after the 24hours use the opportunity to flash the pd15img. currently trying to unroot it and turn s-on... but right now it is working fine and i am rooted on stock 2.2.1
Update
So im guessing either OP gave up or somehow resolved and this is dead but hers update on mine.
Restored to stock 2.2.1 and hBoot 86 and then turned s-off back to s-on by rooting and then using gfree to turn s-on only. i couldn't restore usin the part7backup or whatever cause i lost it. anyways took a shot and then left phone without its battery for a few days. now it is running fine. have the spare flex in hand too so if it does mess up ill swap flex. if it stays good ill either sell it or try the whole process over again

[Q] big phone problem

i have a charger stock everything. for some reason it will not go pass the boot screen. and keeps restarting. battery is full. can anybody help me out? Can i do a hard reset or something?
If you haven't modded it at all, it might be a hardware issue.
---------- Post added at 04:23 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:19 AM ----------
It might be an app you downloaded, though, you could try reflashing the stock rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1108115
yea i was thinking that. i pulled the battery and everything. still nothing just keep rebooting and shutting off.

how about try to boot recover mode (this will wipe all data on your phone). Hold down Volume up and home button then press and hold power button until you see recover screen (blue), select recovery and press the power button to execute. Good luck and hope it's not hardware issue.
I had the same problem yesterday , I had to reodin to stock and it worked perfectly . But Verizon is still sending me a new unit . But it will work . Goodluck

[Q] Xperia Go Wont Turn

Hi! Im fairly new to android, last night I tryied to update my CWM from version 5 to tuch version 6.
I did this through CWM > flash sip from sd card. It said completed however when the phone rebooted it was stuck at an illuminated black screen.
I tried shutting down the phone but it doesn't respond. It stayed on that screen all night until the battery drained.
I can't enter fastboot, flash mode or even turn it on. When the USB cable is plugged in, it just shows the red light.
Help! How can I bring this phone back to life?
android is like playing with lego ..

-press volume + and insert usb cable, once led turns blue and then click install.bat .. follow the next instruction ..

I am experiencing the same problem too. I can find the attach file on your post
Hi thanks for the advice, I have a copy of the ROM you mentioned. Problem is, that my battery is drained. NOT CHARGING. Even if I leave it for hours in wall socket, red led turns on, then turns off after a few minutes. Thus, I cant enter fastboot (blue light) or flash mode(green light). I read somewhere that witouth a working kernel, the phone just wont charge the battery. Do you know a way to charge an embedded battery without the kernel?

Still waiting for my phone to charge, or find a way to charge my phone without the kernel.
But hey; here's the link for the V13 ROM: http://d-h.st/Qyc
Although I'm not using Xperia go, I can't turn on my Xperia Ray as I was flashing it to Android 4.2 but I accidentally exited CWM halfway and I can't reenter it, I don't know why, I tried key combinations but it won't go into CWM. It only shows the logo "SONY" and won't move anywhere. Help please, is there anyway i can revive the phone ?
Just charge it after flashing kernel (only) . Kernel flash takes about two three seconds and then battery would charge too
Press the "thanks", button if I helped you.

I think I bricked my SG4GS (SGH-959v)

Hello everyone I am back again with a galaxy this time
I used this guide to root my phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21953587&postcount=1
the root worked perfectly, but I did wrong is that I didn't have any of my applications that I had before root, so I thought that it is a good idea to go back into CWM and restore it from there, after I did that the phone rebooted and got stuck in the Galaxy screen, I am unable to access recovery, CWM or download mode the phone doesn't even boot it justs sits at the galaxy screen.
btw I have this kernel Bhundven's Subtly Modified Stock with CWM5 + Voodoo Lagfix (thanks to AntonX )
this is the rom that I flashed -Valhalla - BlackEdition(thanks to RaverX3X)
my computer does recognise my phone when I do the three finger salute while plugged in usb.
please I need help this is my only phone
If you can still get into recovery then try wiping the caches and fix permissions. That may fix it, if not maybe wipe data. Otherwise if you can still use recovery then you should try wiping everything and re-installing the rom, or restore nandroid backup and use titanium to backup your apps.
If you can't get to recovery then you should be able to one-click back to stock from download mode and start over.

So, I have been in this very situation with that same very setup. I flashed a Nandroid backup and bam, stuck at the screen. Spent hours trying to fix it. Best part was, I was on a business trip, and all the info I needed was in my phone
So, the trick here as I recall is to get the phone in Download Mode, once there, you can then use Heimdall One-Click http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358498 (which is what I used that time) or you can flash One-Click Gremlin Remover, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500427 which uses Odin to Flash back to Stock.
To the best of my recollection, here is how I recall getting into D/L mode after hours of trying. About 5am, got it to work. Thanks to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112076
Steps are:
1. Have Heimdall or One-Click opened and ready
2. Remove your battery
3. I would hold the power button for like 10 secs to discharge the circuits (not sure this is needed, just like a clean slate)
4. Hold the Volume rocker down (no battery in the phone yet) *Note you DO NOT press or hold the POWER button for this procedure.
5. Plug computer connected USB into your phone (still holding down the volume rocker)
6. Insert Battery into phone (still holding down the volume rocker) Your phone should automatically turn on at this point in to Download Mode.
The order of the above is critical in that you do not install your battery until after the USB is connected, while you hold the volume rocker down. This should take you into Download mode where you can reflash.
You might also run into an issue where your computer does not recognize the drivers for your phone initially (because they are not being sent to it by the phone). If you are getting into Download Mode and you see that Heimdall or One Click is not detecting the device, reinstall the drivers from the Samsung site for the SGS4G and then try.
Hope this helps! Been in the exact same jam, you can get this fixed. Soft bricks are always better than hard bricks.

Thanks for clarifying, that was what I meant. I press the middle of the rocker to hold it "down" did not even think of that being mistaken as in directionally down. Sounds like the OP is up and running so all good.

Good to hear. Now, get yourself updated to one of the stable ICS MTD ROMs, I never had much success with the GB ROMs being all that stable for me. Personally, I like AOKP (4.0.4) myself.

Out of curiosity, did you end up using Heimdall or One-Click Gremlin Remover?

S6 Bootloop, No OS, No Home Button.

Hi,
I have an SGS6, SM-G920I, I have the phone for about a month with Android 6.0.1 on it, rooted with CF-Auto-Root. About 2 days ago, I decided to unroot the phone because I never used an app that need it, so, I did it from SuperSu app, after that, the phone keeps in bootloop.
I want to flash a stock rom, I already download it and odin 3.11, I dont care about pictures or anything else, but, my problem is that home button isn´t working, so, if I press vol down + home + power, it only recognize vol down + power, and because of that I cant pass the warning screen, neither vol up nor vol down works.
Is there any other way to pass the warning screen in download mode, I can only boot in recovery but non option allows me to flash rom.
Thanks in advance..
Yes. Just need just domaged usb cable. And make like this yourself.

Also recovery is option, boot into bootloader. It is download mode. Meaby it works for you.
Gonna try this, thanks for answer.
Access Download Mode from Recovery is not working, already try that, but phone keeps stuck in bootloop, thats weird but it happens since I have the phone
