I down loaded Imnuts CWM, PBJ with voodo kernel and the SD card fix to my EE4 Charge. Everything went well and I have root until I noticed that the card wasnt, being read by the computer. Turned the phone off and then back on and now I get the stock lock screen, was running launcher pro and then I get sorry messages that application Luancher Pro ( process android. process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. I am also getting these messages for any app I download from the market, apple keypad, widget pro, etc that they have stopped also, i do a force stop but it doesnt seen to matter. I cant get past the lock screen. I have tried rebooting from the recovery screen and no luck. The phone also wont mount to the computer to reflash it. Any ideas or help how to get past this. I also deleted some of the bloatware prior to this problem (rock band, golf, block buster etc). Right now the phone turns on and goes to the lock screen slide the puzzle piece and then get the messages can't get past that.
Do you think if I downloaded a diffent ROM to the card directly from my computer and put a different rom on the card and then opened the zip file and installed from recovery will get me out of this or what about a reset.

I suspect your issue is one I went through.
You said you have the voodoo kernel, right? Sometimes, if the external sdcard doesn't mount in time, voodoo creates a folder in the internal rom memory named /sdcard. When the real sdcard mounts, it gets mounted in /mounts/sdcard. The apps that look there have no issues, the ones that just look for /sdcard but only find the voodoo related one puke and cause issues.
I think Imnuts has some terminal commands you can check/run to fix it, but I also fixed mine by using root explorer, going to the "/" folder, finding he "/sdcard" folder, then checking in it to see if it's the real external sdcard, or the voodoo created one. (hint:, the voodoo created one will have nothing in it but the /voodoo stuff).
If you're sure it's the voodoo stuff only folder, just delete and reboot. Should fix it. For extra safety, backup your external sdcard contents before messing around with this...just in case.
P.S. - You might get crap from some folks for posting this in Development rather than general; you might want to ask a moderator to move it for you.

I am a little further along but not where I should be. I have been able to get past the lock screen and disable launcher pro. I have the phone working and email etc. But the unit itself is very laggy and I get continous force stops from calender, google apps etc. I went and did a CWM reboot and checked the vodoo file and it says that vodoo is disabled it will not let me enable it, is this normal? At this point I have a functioning phone but it is nowhere near were it should be with all these force closures and the lag.
I also cannot down load anything from the market and it seems all of the apps I installed through market are doing force stops even if they aren't opened. I have also been able to get the phone and the card to show up when connected to the computer.
This is my first android phone and after spending weeks reading about this stuff I figued I was ready to root, I guess I was wrong.
Still stuck and dont have any idea where to go from here.
Should I reboot and install the voodoo kernal again. Can I just install a different ROM like GummyCharged from a zip file and can I do it with or without lagfix enabled?
It really seems like the phone reset itself to stock and some part of it doesnt like PBJ kernal with voodoo lag fix.

Do you know how to use adb? If so, start up an adb shell session and run the command "mount" (no quotes). Paste back the ouput here, but you're basically looking to see if your stuff is mounted as RFS or ext4.
If you're not familiar with adb, get a terminal app from the market and just do the same thing from the terminal app.
Flashing another ROM will probably get you going, but make sure to wipe/reset (this will delete all your data on the phone, but not the sdcard).
Have you pulled the sdcard out and looked at its contents on a computer? Is there a voodoo folder on it? Is there a file or subfolder named "disable-lagfix" in it?
Got it working, downloaded Gummy Charge and everything is back in working order.

here it goes, i flashed several roms, it goes straight to CWM after samsung logo. Did i mount/unmount sys, blah blah blah... the answer is yes. Have I checked all my drivers to make sure they are working...YES! I opened up ODIN and it will not locate my phone. Oh it must be the usb cord... It cannot be after using several different cords... maybe the port aint working either..lets check *beep* wrong! Everything is in working order... I can get into download mode from the CWM, i can flash whatever the hell i like it will not pass the samsung logo or the CWM. Maybe there is something i can sneak into my sd and a zip file that makes it all working...not possible! so.. i need help.
I cannot go straight to the download mode after samsung logo, it will only boot up CWM red. I can get into green CWM by clicking sd:update.zip which doesnt do much for me or my phone. when i move around in CWM red. it would say no cache recovery log, in the download mode it would say no custom binary.
I would LOVE to get my phone up and running... going on to my second day at it!
Perhaps you can copy a working rom onto the external SD card from the computer and install from zip like that..
Just in put the zip into the SD card, navigate cwm to external_SD and try and load.from that zip..

However, I cannnot download any apps from the martket due to error (-101). I have gotten all my apps back through external SD from the stock file manager.
Should I root the phone again and bypass the market to external SD (rooted apps) and flash a rom and the market will be working?

go to settings/manage applications and look for the market app and uninstall the updates. then you can download apps...
same happen to me when I go to stock, and looking for a root explorer app to download for replacing the recovery file.

I go in there all the time ;-) however I've already uninstall the market (the updates) and downloaded a new one from my external sd and it still says error (-101).
I am getting ready to root the whole 9 yard again, BUT my phone cannot be read once again, it will charge but it cannot be discovered. WHY SAMSUNG GOT to be SO COMPLICATED!?!
I guess the MODs can close this thread, since my phone is up and limping. Thanks for those that "helped" out, right!

Sounds like you're upset, but you're displaying poor attitude.

look at qkster's signature! it has everything you need... i spend many hours trying to understand by myself this... and im still think im a noob...
anyways, if you can go to stock and know how to root...
this is the checklist:
1) have stock
2) have root access

I rooted my device and tried to install a custom ROM. But something got messed up and I had to unrooted the device and restore it to factory version with an RUU given by Hack Ace.
After restoring the device, Market doesn't upgrade to Google Play. I tired to restart and it did not help.
I'm now running GingerBread 2.3.3 with a HTC Sesse 2.1
Can anyone help me with what is wrong?
Try logging out of google if you haven't or look for the google play apk file and install it should be one floating around here somewhere

Awesome.. ? for you why did you go back to stock or are you planning to root again?
when i tried to flash the new ROM from ROM Manager...it left my Phone in a wierd state and i was not able to access Gmail or Play Store.
This is the first time i tried to root and Flash a new ROM and i am not exactly sure about the recovery process. So i decided to RESET everything. I am now looking into more videos and articles and videos to get familiar with the process. I would certainly try rooting again ASAP.

Well I never used the Rom manager aka clock work mod to flash a rom. Alway down load it and drag n drop to the sd card and boot into recovery mode and flash but you have to have cwm first and flash it to the recovery mode which there fore allow you too boot up into recovery with out issues.
Well once you do root again look me up. I can help with some basic info if I get time I can post or message you with some steps that I do that could help you out.

Hey no worries.. once you flash roms and get into kernels scripts etc its not all that bad

So this is an idea of what I do when I flash a rom and some other ideas/tips.
Getting Started or Flashing A Rom:
Once you root your phone (this is not in any order really) you should get ROM Manager aka Clock Work Mod. Once you get that, open the CWM and the first top half you will see flash clockworkmod recovery make sure your on wifi I would at least for the updates. You will see a dialog box click desire hd. This will allow you to make back ups of your settings that you made when you flash a rom its always a good idea to make your backups its a life save!! So, once you made your back up and this is what I do.. I plug in my phone to the pc switch to disk mode which will let you see whats on your sd card. Since you flash the CWM and recovery you will see on your sd card a folder called clockworkmod open then backups folder you will see you back that you made, drag and drop that backup file that you made to your fold that you made on pc to save it for later. And thats pretty much how I save my backups of roms etc.. Now if you need to load that back up just plug phone in disk mode cwm fold>backup drag and drop back up that you need. And boot into recovery mode and select back up and restore and select restore and the file boot and your good..
I would download which Rom I would like to use. Save it to pc to a folder that I have made that I store all my roms, backups,radios & rils, kernels..etc.. just to keep myself organized. Once you get your rom just drag and drop it to the ROOT of the sd card do NOT add it in any folder thats on the sd card. Once you have it on the card just boot into recovery flash your rom.. Other then that its easy to flash the rom.. And when you get all your settings set up make a back up and when done save it to the pc and delete it from the sd card if you dont want to keep on the card I do that..
When it comes to battery life it depends on what the rom.. But I like to use killers http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1305228&highlight=killersolth scripts for the kernels.. For me I always flash a different kernel upon flashing a new rom. For me having the kernel and killers script is the best combo for me to have for performance and battery life.. now since I have inspire I use the uv lites scripts.
For the most part flashing radios & Rils you would never really need to do that so I wouldnt recommend it for now maybe later but read about it its good to know what it does..
Other sides which I for got to add.. When you flash a new rom its always good to wipe user data.,cache, delvik it makes it for a good clean install with other roms..
Also the desire HD thread which the inspire can use the roms from that thread to.

To whom ever can help out, I have a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0, and cannot seem to get my problem resolved by myself. I have somehow inadvertently managed to install an update.zip that had or had no relations to this particular OS of this particular model of android.
My problem is that I wanted to be able to, migrate my apps to the external SdCard or extSdCard, and I think I used an update.zip designed for the cellphone HTC Evo 4g. Not realizing that I will be later unable to use the restore feature from a previous backup I had made using CWM 6.0.1.0 to recover from my inadvertent mistake (not to comfortable making a backup, and thinking I can restore properly anymore, like I can on my cellphone that I am spoiled with).
Silly of me to think I could use an update.zip designed for another type of device such as the HTC Evo 4g, but… (anyway my bad what was I thinking…?). The update.zip, by the way is "dtapps2sd-2.7.5.2-signed", like I mentioned this is clearly designed for the HTC Evo 4g, and not for the Samsung GT2 7.0.
The problem I experience now is not complete lose of my GT2 7.0 device I can still install and change out OS through the CWM-Recovery and install apps through the Android Market. I do however experience the inability to check my Storage properties under my Settings profile. When I attempt to click on this link it pauses for a second as if it wants to open up and perform its normal function, then reports an error "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped". Now at this point this is where I would have to mention another issue similar to this one, and that is at startup. When I first start the device up and it runs through its process of startup configuration. It will then report a list of programs that are prevented from running properly it as follows;
Unfortunately, the process android.process.media has stopped.
Unfortunately, My Files has stopped.
Unfortunately, Factory Test has stopped.
Unfortunately, MTP has stopped.
Now my question is, how is-it possible to resolve this issue. I have tried to complete a fresh install of the OS, CWM-Recovery, and also attempted to wipe everything possible that the recovery will allow, but I am not expecting much, as I cannot even get the backup and restore feature to work efficiently enough to provide me with what I need it to do…
I have provided this post with a download of the update.zip I used as well as the version of the OS I have provided my Samsung GT2 7.0. If anyone can shine some insight on what direction I should attempt to do to resolve this issue I would be more that interested to take a look at what I could use to correct this error of mine…

Factory reset in stock recovery. So Odin a stock Rom and before u install anything custom, do a factory reset in recovery after u Odin back to stock. Then flash away.
I imagine you have alrdy tried a factory reset using a custom recovery.
WAIT!!! You don't have to factory reset, just reboot into CWM recovery ang go to mounts and storage>wipe internal storage. Confirm and reboot. You will lose anything on the sdcard but your apps will stay.

2. Already tried Stock Rom(s).
3. I believe my problem is a bootloader, or partitioning script. (As this denies me access from inside settings>storage where I can view my allocated size, and Restore to Factory button. In addition in CWM, I am not allowed to mount/sdcard(internal), extSdCard is ok though. Also, I cannot plug Tab via USB to check contains on Internal or External sdcard, but I can remove the External to transfer data from it via sdcard slot on PC...)
Maybe you can recommend a good Stock Rom, so I can give that ago...

I think now, if I cannot get a sizable remedy..., is just to try and send it in Samsung so they can take a look at it...

FYI; I have also tried connecting to Kies, but due to the inability to posses a "MTP" (Media Transfer Protocol), is the reason I cannot connect to my SdCard & extSdCard. I can "PTP" (Picture Transfer Protocol) into it, using "adb shell", but not using "MTP"...
So I do not know how much "MTP" has to do with this relationship of the other three items that I mentioned in my bullet list in my quote, but...
Anyway, I don't know what I am trying to say, but thank you two, for getting me this far...!

I am not quite confident on how much this will work. As I have tried this multiple times to wipe "Wipe Factory/Data", "Wipe Cache", including all the partitions under the "Advance" section found in CWM Recovery. Even using TWRP Recovery.
Per this post; I just attempted to flash a "Stock Rom", but not before doing a factory/data, cache wipe using "Stock Recovery", including after a successful install...
No luck, the same problem still exist as above...
Ok, this was all just the rudest experience I put my self threw. As I have an HTC Evo 4g - cellphone and have become comfortable with installing ROM's, Kernels, and Updates.zips, as well as, other modification. All threw the Recovery designed for this particular device, and don't get me wrong there has been a couple of times. Maybe more than a couple, more like a few times I have installed incompatible downloads I find in the XDA forums. Which makes this screw up, difficult form me to know that as long as you can get into a Download/Bootloader or a modified Recovery designed for a particular device that was successful flashed correctly. Well the screw up are easily redeemed/recoverable.
So, to make a long story short. After having called Samsung Customer Care (the 1-800-SAMSUNG) number, it seems to have been a External SdCard getting in my way from having been real short from sending my Tab off to the repair department (where ever it is...). I in fact already had it in an envelope, all I needed was an address to send it to. Anyway the nice person on the other side of the phone requested that I remove my External SdCard, and confirm that I was able to get into my "Storage" tab under my settings. Well after success getting this option back, I then made the suggestion that maybe my Eternal SdCard is corrupt or incorrectly formatted. She then agreed maybe this is the case. After ending the phone call. I quickly restarted my Tab, again only to find out that I was no longer receiving the error messages like mentioned above, which is great, because after multiple flashes of "Stock Roms w/Stock Recovery", and forcing myself to believe that it was a system install error. It in fact the External SdCard in place preventing me from throwing my Tab against the wall / in the mail to Samsung Repair Center...

I am now in the process, since I am living back in Stock mode. To receive an OTA (Over The Air) Update, and am still in the process of seeing if this thing still possess any residual silent errors...

That is it, my problem is resolved. Damnedest thing this problem of mine, it seems the only thing I screwed up was the micro SdCard. to the point it was the cause of all the error I received when I started up the device, as well as when I attempted to access my storage through me settings options...!!!
Now re-rooted, and a happy camper, Cheers...!
Hi all, I have a rooted HTC Sensation 4G, which still has T-Mo provided ICS 4.0.3 and I assume Sense 3.6. I never put any other ROMs in, not sure how, just wanted root for stuff like tethering, call recording, etc. The phone has been getting more and more slow as time goes on, and has gotten to the point lately I have nothing left to lose. When making a call, the Contacts lists stays up a good 60 seconds or so before the screen comes up where t is actually dialing for you, or if I manually put a phone number in, it just hangs there just as long before the phone takes over to actually make the call. And do just about anything else, when getting out of what your were doing, I get the white HTC screen, then loading the screen with the time and temp which takes a good 30 seconds. Using the browser often just cuts me off and reverts to the home screen.
I thought finally getting rid of the bloatware may help, got rid of NOVA, Lookout, a lot of wallpapers and widgets I don't use, something called CS and a couple others I looked up online which says is OK to delete, as well as Facebook, Youtube, TV apps, etc.
After I was done, first thing I noticed, no time and temp. display. I used an app called NoBloat and checked "backup and delete" on all I wanted to get rid of. I started trying to install from NoBloat's back-up folder, and even though says installing, I could tell they weren't when I looked for the installations. I found the NoBloat folder on my SD card, and tried the .apk's from there, and the majority would say "Can't install" or something similar. I then wanted to take a screenshot of something, and that function is gone.
I would like to do a reset to start from scratch without losing root. I found out the Senastion is a tough one to root and I paid someone to do it and it took 2 days before I could pick it up. Is there a way to reset without losing root since I still have stock 4.0.3 in it? Thanks much.

I assume I need to install a custom ROM to get total functionality back without losing root, would be nice to get Kit Kat on this (or is this phone too old to do much with?)
I did manage to install "Sense flip clock & weather" from Google Play which broght back time and temp., and also Screenshot Ultimate which seems to work, but not as easy to use as the native app. A bunch of other screenshot apps seemed not to work at all, so now I can basically get by the way it is now, but still need to get the 60 second dialing lag fixed which is still there, so I'm assuming a fresh ROM install. Thankfully my Wifi Tether app still works. Thanks.

not a custom rom
a custom recovery such as 4ext ,cwm ,TWRP
if you want to use a custom rom you must have a custom recovery installed
by the way all custom roms come pre-rooted
so don't worry about root(it is the easiest part)
can you post your bootloader details?
Hi rzr86, here is the screen I got, I didn't know if/how to proceed any further. I also noticed I have ClockWorkMod installed if that helps, I had the phone rooted around August of 2013 if that helps, so I think all the apps to do with rooting have not been updated, Thanks again.

i suggest to change your recovery to 4ext(since you are on S-ON 4ext has smartflash feature which flashes the boot.img for you while flashing a new rom)
take here the latest version of 4ext recovery

extract the recovery.img and flash it via fastboot command
the command is fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
if you stay with cwm recovery you will have to flash the boot.img manually while flashing a new rom
Hi rzr86, thanks agin, I will do this later tonight when expecting no phone calls. So I would delete the clockwork app, and put the recovery.img from the zip file into my SD card, and tap that, or do I go into the bootloader menu again and tap FASTBOOT and put in the command? Any suggestions on what a good ROM for me would be? I assume the 4EXT Touch Recovery automatically backs up what I have now, or prompts me to? Thanks again.

no don't put the recovery.img in your sdcard
connect your device in your pc in fastboot usb mode
extract the recovery.img from the zip and place it in your adb/fastboot folder on your pc
on that folder open a command window and type the command
don't worry it will overwrite the cwm recovery
AFAIK 4ext restores backups made by cwm because 4ext is based on cwm
about rom you can try vipers 5.3.0 (jelly bean with sense)
Thanks once more rzr86, I think I have enough info to handle it from here, and I'll look up the vipers 5.3.0. I know a lot of people say Sense is worthless and a memory hog, but I'm used to it now, and I'm sure with the new ROM some of that memory will be freed up from bloatware. I'll try the new recovery app later tonight, and I assume I can wait another day to put in the viper ROM if needed. Guess I should back my SD card up, even though I assume none of this touches the SD card. Does the SIM card need to be in, as I have an old Dash I can put the SIM in for now till I'm done. Not getting too far, give up for tonight. Used "Minimal ADB and Flashboot" app, stays on "waiting for device". I tried modifying the name as recovery in the file name twice. I tried command from the folder I unzipped the recovery.img to, as well as trying to copy recovery.img to the Minimal program folder and try from there. I read I don't need the whole huge ADB download for what I'm doing on another site. I used this to get Minimal:

don't use any program
just open a command window in that folder where you have adb/fastboot files
edit: by the way did you select fastboot when you connected the device to pc?(from the bootloader screen)
I used the Fastboot under settings, I'll try the Fastboot by pressing Vol down and Power, wasn't sure which to use, thanks again, and will do without launching a program later in today. I should have known better to try the Fastboot screen if the other didn't work.
Hi rzr86, just tried again, powered up phone using vol down and power, have bootloader screen, selected Fastboot. Also gives other options like Bootloader, Reboot, Reboot Bootloader, and Power Down. If I hit power, says Hboot, then checks something real fast something about SD card and no image?. and the prompt is on Fastboot again, and it does say "Fastboot USB", and I can hear the sound on the PC that the USB is connected. I tried from the original adb-fastboot folder I made and also tried unzipping into a new folder as seen in the pic, still getting "fastboot not recognized, Thanks again.

PS I noticed under Recovery Options says "install from SD card" or something to that effect, would this help? (I just rebooted my phone into normal mode), maybe I should try the other way?

actually the zip isn't a flashable one
so you can't use that option
try this way
download and install 4ext updater app(link in my signature)
open the app and select to install 4ext recovery touch
it will do the job for you

Success! Thank you! I downloaded and installed RC2, hope that's good, as I feel more comfortable with that vs. RC3 still in testing stage. I will take a night of rest since it's Saturday night here and feel like doing something other than phones the rest of the night, LOL. I assume I'm good to go with putting viper530 in, will try on my own tomorrow night, I assume done in a similar way. Funny last couple of days, haven't been getting as long as a delay making calls usually, sometimes go thru right away instead of lagging for often near a full minute, but regardless I think I should go ahead with a new ROM. I assume viper530 compatible with T-Mobile USA. Thanks much again, rzr86!

OK, I think I did the backup right. I just chose the 4EXT app, it booted into recovery screen, I found Backup from Recovery and backup, chose Backup, then went back to Advanced and chose all 4 from there, I think they were system, boot, data, and cache. Rebooted, saved my whole SD card to my PC via the USB "use as disk drive" option. On the backup screen, the word "nandroid" was nowhere to be found (as some other screenshots showed using CWM), just said 4EXT Recovery something, pic attached. I assume I did right. Does 4EXT store the backup in the ClockWorkMod folder on the SD card? Seems that way to me, as now folders showing a bunch of .tar files under the "backup" folder, and the system, boot, cache, and data folders under the "Advanced" folder, and I don't see much in the 4EXT folder. nandroid is the backup you made
and there is no need to make an advanced(advanced backups specific partitions of your rom)
just go backup/restore-> backup and you are done(it backups everything)
and yes the backup is located to the cwm folder of your sdcard
